For what it is 4 stars. A total beach bar where your drinks are served in plastic cups and you are surrounded by sand. Mixed drinks seemed a little watered down but again for what it is, it's fun to just hang out and listen to some music. No food, but there is a restaurant next-door where you can grab bites and bring in to Ocean Annie's. Quite large stage with live bands that sing cover songs. Most people just stand around. I did see some dancing. If you're in the area, you honestly don't even need to go into the bar. You can just pop a chair down or a blanket on the beach right outside and listen to the tunes. read more

What a fun place to visit!!! There is music from open to close at this beach bar location!!! There are drinks by the plastic cup or the pitcher and the drinks are all named fun things! They don't have food but you can bring your own or order from the restaurant inside the hotel. The bathrooms are a little bit of a walk but worth it so you get your steps in while drinking! There is even a dance floor so you can dance to the music and meet new people!!! read more

If you are over 60 and with friends, you'll love it. If you're willing to buy lots of plastic pitchers of mixed drinks with plastic cups and straws, you'll love it. If you don't really care if the cover band gets the words wrong, you'll love it. Only one stall in the women's bathroom worked. The place didnt hold the attention of the 26-28 yr olds I had with me for more than one night. On the plus side, the area is safe and servers were very good. read more

I was impressed that they had a lot of amenities on location. Breakfast place .. was just ok and expensive! Lunch and dinner place was by the pool which made it very easy! They had an inside bar which had karaoke and outside bar and stage with live music! Pool was good and there was an indoor pool and hot tub. My biggest complaint was our room . It was outdated and mold was on the walls . The shower clogged up when the water was running! Everyone there was very nice and polite.. please update the rooms. Booked this hotel with booking.com as i often use booking until today.! Never again.! Not only am I disappointed with booking costumer service the hotel staff is very unprofessional and rude. I went to the front desk I asked to speak to a manager and housekeeping. I was advised managers don't come to see any issues and since I used booking I would have to go threw them you want me to call booking to have then come change the bedding? after 49 minutes on hold I was told by booking they can't reach a staff member I need to allow them 12 hours to get back to me or a booking member I laughed bc you want me to wait 12 hours for someone to address dirty linen and where should I sleep? So I asked what if I leave you will be charged a $205 cancelation fee What?? How is this my fault I should sleep on dirty sheets? So I asked booking to cancel and put me in another hotel since it takes 5-7 days for refund why would I pay more out of pocket nope they couldn't do that disappointing is an understatement.! Stay away save your money don't stay here and use a site that will back you as a costumer not side with the hotel that won't even change the sheets. Disaster the hotels stinks. The staff is rude.! The pools are dirty oh and they don't clean them on Sundays the only beautiful thing out of this nightmare me and my family made the best of it and loved the beach and waves. Ohhhhhh anddddd let me not forget booking told me breakfast was included I arrive at check in I am handed Sunday to Friday 4 tickets each day for lunch and when we go to get lunch it's nasty burgers sitting in water that smells like feces no thank you.! It's an open space between two resorts , and you have to go through a hotel lobby to get there . The drinks were good , the bar tenders were good . You could sit anywhere you wanted and you could see the ocean. The live music was good, atmosphere good . If you wanted to eat , there is a side door to a restaurant called River City . When we went we placed a to go order and it was ready in 15 minutes with great service . The hostess was super nice and they were really quick. I got the palmetto burger and it was really good . A friend of mine got the shrimp platter she said it was also good . Overall I would most definitely go again! read more

The vibe here is just fun, happy, party. What's not to love? Bar on the beach with live music all day and night. Some of the bartenders are extra special (shout out to STEVE!) and the bands are always good-at least the ones I heard during the week I stayed there. Thankfully they don't do karaoke outside at the beach bar but inside the Sands Ocean Club they have karaoke at Sandals most nights (I think), plus a DJ. Huge beach in front of the bar where you can hang in the sand and listen to the music. Not supposed to take your drinks from the bar out there though. I don't know if the pool is part of the beach bar or the hotel (or both?). Security didn't seem to be monitoring anyone to make sure they belonged. Mostly watching for underage drinkers from what I could see. There's a restaurant near the pool (can't remember the name). I didn't see anyone serving food around the pool or bar so ig you just you have to go there and grab food yourself. Hubs said the grouper fries (fish n chips) were really good. And someone else said the burgers were . I liked the fresh cut fries and the vegan veggie burger was surprisingly well done. read more

On July 4th we were listening to the band at Ocean Annie's and one of the waitresses put her hands on me. She grabbed my wrist, pushed me, aggressively, ushed a chair out of the way, and said I need to keep the path open so she can get through. Other than that happening, it's a very nice beach bar with great bands. read more

The hotel is a little outdated, We booked a 3 Bedroom Suite for 6 People, one of the beds you could not sleep on because it was so old and broken, had maint come up and they said they told Mgt a while back it needed to be replaced, Never got done. Next day I went down to the front desk to talk about it, I was handed off to security , not even a mgr or a customer service agent straight to security ( felt like a committed a crime). Than I got thrown out of the night club by the same security guard a little while later. Dont think I will ever use this place again Far better hotels to stay at . read more

If you like having 3 beer choices, being accosted by security when walking through from the beach with your cooler and stopping off for a beer to be told you can't stay because you have a cooler (which was empty), and a meat market atmosphere then this is the place for you. I have been a fan of this place for as long as I can remember. It is great for children, teens and adults. Located right on the beach...it has a really nice outdoor bar, an outdoor swimming pool, an indoor swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a lazy river and a super casual restaurant to grab some grub. During the summer season- they have a band that plays there during the day and night which is always entertaining. Bartenders are quick to serve and the cocktail waitresses are always nice. I don't remember one time I came here without having a fantastic time! Highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area! read more

Interesting experience. There was a duo singing during the afternoon on a weekday. Apparently someone asked the female, Dawn, how late they were playing. She was rude and make a couple comments about the bar needed to make money, and she would be "gone" if the bar wasn't making money. Her comments were so inappropriate and crass. Also, every business, especially the bar industry, has peaks and valleys. If business is slow on a weekday afternoon, deal with it. You just don't get to pack up your toys and go home because no one came out to play with you! Better yet, engage the crowd and make it a happy, fun experience for them. Maybe then they would stay a while and buy some drinks. Despite the rude comments, I (a female) decided to be supportive and left my lounge chair by the pool and walked to the bar. I went up to the counter near the public ordering counter and waited to order a drink. The female bartender looked around me, no kidding, and greeted a male with a big smile and asked if he wanted four more drinks for his golf group. Talk about tacky and unprofessional. Wow, she must feel really good about her service skills! Not! I'm actually a good tipper so she is definitely the one who missed out! If the bartender thought I was going to wait why she made four drinks, and then wait for her to acknowledge me, she truly has no people or customer service skills. I walked away and never spent a cent at the bar! So, it was quite the experience. And not a good one. The bar staff is saying they are not making money, yet they are ignoring customers! The band is being rude to customers! Maybe the band should think about what is truly going on when the bar staff says sales are down! We decided to plant our party on the beach in front and bring our own drinks so I cannot speak to the actual bar. It was very populated so I'm guessing it wasn't bad. Stayed and chilled migrating back and forth from shade to beach as the band played. Great way to spend a day at the beach. Parking was brutal, but we got lucky. read more

Combine the ocean, a huge deck with a bar, a music stage and direct access to the beach...that is Ocean Annies. This bar is sandwiched between resorts and offers an oasis to this part of the beach. There is a full outside bar and for food, River City Cafe (great hamburgers) is just inside the resort. You can purchase your food and take it back onto the deck. There are plenty of tables to sit at, but they could use some more umbrellas to provide more shaded seating. Prices are average, a Land Shark draft was $4.50. There isn't a large beer selection beyond the regular fare. But the atmosphere is fun, the music good and its a beautiful day. A win win! read more

Traveling to South Carolina beaches often, this is always a place we end up at. Ocean Annie's is located right on the beach. Definetely a "tourist" spot as it is connect to the Sands Ocean Resort- but with live music and great drinks, it attracts plenty of regulars. If you get down to the beach early enough in the AM you can set up nearby and enjoy the music all day. Otherwise, they have a great patio with plenty of seating. It can be loud here into the night, I wouldn't recommend staying extremity close by. Our place is 2 blocks away which is perfect. This was my most favorite beach bar in Myrtle Beach! A huge patio right on the beach super close to the water. Pool is connected. On most days of the week when the weather is nice they have live music. We were only in MB for the weekend but came to Ocean Annie's each day we were there because it was a blast. The live band was awesome and they played a great selection of music - all over songs which is the best part. Most of the songs were older classics but they played some newer songs as well which was fun! They bartenders were super fast when ordering drinks and the prices were NOT bad at all. You can even just sit on the beach in front of the bar and enjoy the live music. I definitely recommend coming here if you're vacationing in Myrtle Beach! read more

We have enjoyed going to Ocean Annie's since it opened in 1984. However, we visited Myrtle Beach last month, and on two occasions I used my credit card to start a tab, but paid cash at the end, only to later find that my card was also charged! I contacted their business office and was told that I should resolve with my bank. I mentioned that if I used my card there should be receipts with my signature, but no one can seem to locate them! If it was just one time, I can see as it being an honest mistake, but twice? BEWARE! My guess is that I am not the only one to have this experience. read more

DON'T DO IT. Giving 2 stars because I'm not a complete jerk and this is from a one time experience. HOWEVER, being that this is a touristy area the first impression really matters. I don't mind dives. In fact, I enjoy them. However, this is just a hot mess. It is in a very run down hotel (seriously- the whole area looks like a hurricane hit a year earlier and they are still rebuilding. I'm from FL. This reference makes sense. BUT THERE WAS NO RECENT HURRICANE) There is a tiki bar outside. Don't mind having to walk through the bizarrely "rustic Italian" decorated lobby and the changing rooms. Walk past the extremely small and dirty lazy pool. You are finally there! The service was horrible. They didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in (not busy). But the reason for 2 stars? THERE WAS PUKE on a table. Someone had too many tropical drinks and lost it. I'm fairly certain this happens often in myrtle beach. The disturbing thing? We sat there for at least 25 min before anyone cleaned it up. It was very obvious that the waitresses thought it wasn't their job and the bartender didn't want to do it. Once they did clean it- they just threw a giant bucket of chemicals and water over it. They didn't say anything to us or the other tables. No apology. It was almost like this is the norm. Thanks for the horrid smell, guys! They also left CHUNKS on the ground, "I guess the birds will get it". Sigh. And no one asked if we wanted another drink. This place was just sad. Great place to have some fun near the beach. Whee we were there the band was great. The restaurant was also great for the setting. The bar was a separate entity from the restaurant, and they were a little short on choices; two brands of draft beer, and several flavors of rum punch. Hopefully that was only due to the fact that it was early in the season, and they will have a better selection of drinks soon. read more
