Doug's is one of few go-to spots for us here in Aurora. If you want home cooked comfort style diner food then this is it. Potatoes are crispy, eggs are fluffy and the coffee is hot and fresh. Service is quick and you can get in and out in 30-40 mins if your in a hurry. The Huevos Rancheros and Papas are what I usually get. I love that they put the egg on top of a corn tortilla with the Huevos. Gives you some much needed stability when piling on the beans and green chili! read more

This is a great spot with some fantastic breakfast. The potato bowls, or whatever they're called, are very good. There's a ton of variety and I like the fact it's intimate with bar stools and tables wherever. We go on the weekends and it's one of few places I'll wait for breakfast. By 9a, it's usually a 15-20 minute wait, after that, come at your own risk. One issue is the entryway, people tend to crowd and if it's cold outside, the door is constantly opening and closing. If you're sitting at the bar, keep your coat on! This place is worth a stop, plan on eating a lot and leaving full, probably won't need lunch if you eat breakfast here. read more

Over medium eggs means egg whites are not runny. From the service and how busy on Father's Day it was, I did not complain. My wife ordered bacon with breakfast and we did not get. By the time we got a hold of our waitress and we're half way done with our meal. I noticed there is no team work today. The waitress came back with an extra piece, the bacon looked green. Waiters need to look at every customer they walk by and help each other, but today everyone was a robot. I have been here many times, and today you failed in service for us. We will be back. Went here on the recommendation of a friend. Typical diner on the inside with ample seating. I was immediately greeted and seated, offered my drink and a menu. The menu items were abundant and I chose my breakfast. Wow talk about huge portions! This was going to be a challenge. To say the least the food tasted great. A couple issues overall though: 1. My food was served on a heavy thick plate which was ice cold, hence my food was cold in a matter minutes. Fix this please. 2. I have been eating at this location since they opened and have literally been back over a thousand times. They use fresh ingredients and the food always tastes real and delicious. Their homemade jam puts every other breakfast joint to shame and their bacon is always cooked expertly. Amazing portions! The service has been exceptional over the years with some of the friendliest wait staff I've ever encountered. Recently Megan has done a great job of filling the leadership void. I'm grateful that she so clearly cares about Doug's and has maintained the high standard I've come to expect. All of the staff at this location are hard working and friendly but I have to mention Christian. He's always done his job well and interacted superbly with the customers. I'm never disappointed when he's my waiter. I highly recommend any of the papas or their sizable breakfast burritos to anyone who is very hungry. I don't usually eat from the lunch menu but their Zia bird is a tasty and nutritious choice. If you're thinking of Huevos Rancheros it is worth getting the Huevos soccoro with either carne asada or adovada. I love their red and green sauce so I always order half and half. Had breakfast at Doug's Day Diner on a Thursday, late morning. We were greeted promptly upon walking in and were given a booth just inside the door. The waitress brought waters right away and gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. When she returned, she brought coffee which was fresh and hot. I ordered two eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. I asked for the bacon to be extra crispy and it came out just how I like it. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the hash browns were quite tasty. I really liked how they were grated. The sourdough toast had a nice flavor. It was served with in-house made strawberry and peach jelly. My mom ordered the same but got a biscuit and gravy instead of toast. The biscuit was heavy but it had a nice flavor. The gravy was pretty good as well. Overall, I'd highly recommend Doug's Day Diner and will return! read more

One of my favorite places to eat when I'm in the area. The portions are huge! I highly recommend the Colonial salad with blue cheese dressing. It's amazing! They also have homemade biscuits and jam. The service is a little slow if you're in a hurry, but if you let them know, they make sure you get out in a timely manner. All the staff has always been super helpful and nice. I have not been to this diner many times, but the food is delicious! The sweet combo of the Grandma's hot cakes are delicious and come out piping hot which makes adding butter and syrup worth it! The day we went we had a long wait as we asked the front staff why we couldn't sit in one of the open tables right at the front. 30 minutes later we were sat at one of those tables. I ordered Rancheros eggs. The green chili was bland and the beans had too much tomato sauce and may have had bbq sauce. This gets 4 stars as a diner. Not sophisticated at all but rather good, classic, filling, pretty darn delicious diner food. My wife and I went in for the first time and sat at the bar. Which was great because she's always trying to get me to sit next to her instead of across the table, Ha. I had a blueberry pancake, eggs and sausage. She had an omelette with fruit. As we looked around the restaurant we could see people eating different things, that were large in proportion :-) Coffee was good, waitress was super nice and I don't think there's any question that I'll be going back, and taking some friends. My only 3 star moment was the Browns. They were ok. They thick cut their hash browns. So hard done outside but NOT crispy on inside. My personal choice would be classic hash browns extra crispy. But this is not really a complaint, just a preference. Food - on point. Have no fear. Atmosphere - total diner. Service - really great. AS I LEFT I WAS THINKING - If it's a diner, they probably have good biscuits and gravy. Next time! And I'm stuffed. read more

We were visiting from New Mexico and are looking for a place to have a family breakfast before we hit the road to return home. Never sure how busy a holiday is going to be, we arrived 40 minutes before the rest of our party was scheduled to get our name on the list. There were 9+ a baby. There were several large parties already there so we knew it would be a little bit of a wait. We were seated 50 minutes after arriving. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. She took our drink order right away and then our order when she delivered drinks. Immediately after we were seated she got another large table. She did a great job waiting on both tables despite being seated two large parties within minutes. Our food came out promptly, the order was perfect and the food was hot. My hubby and i shared two things-Taos papas and blueberry hot cakes. The Taos papas were a large portion of potatoes with onions, Italian sausage, smothered with green Chile and cheese and topped off with two over easy eggs. Being from NM we are Chile snobs, but had high expectations for two reasons---one Chile was spelled correctly on the menu and two there were previous good reviews. We were not disappointed. The Chile was flavorful and had a nice amount of bite. Less hot than we are used to but very solid. The second thing we shared were the blueberry hotcakes. Fresh blueberries were generously sprinkled through a thick hot, fluffy hot cake. When I lifted the top hot cake to put butter on it, there was steam rising. Yay, hot pancakes. So many times when you go out the pancakes are lukewarm before you get them. The pancakes were delicious. We couldn't finish all of our food- just too much. The others in our party also enjoyed their food. Several to go boxes were requested and promptly delivered including a bag to put everything in to go. We were also offered to go drinks. Been here around 20 ish times, quality food and excellent service. Good hunks of tender meat in the carne asada dishes, excellent green chili with good heat, very tasty homemade jam du jour and biscuits with a nice hefty crunch. From what I can tell they have been short-staffed since the pandemic (who isn't these days?) Forgot my bacon once on a togo order a few months ago (I totally forgive them for it.) I have been to every breakfast joint in about a 10 mile radius around here and they are consistently the best by a good margin. Yes, even compared against the DTC Snooze. Go early or between peaks, fair warning, they can and will be busy. EDIT: They got steak and eggs now. Their cook actually KNOWS how to cook a steak properly and will do a medium-rare or medium CORRECTLY. Just wow, I feel like I hit the jackpot of local breakfast joints! We aren't talking about those sorry half-a-steak breakfast steak and eggs from WaHo or IHoP, it is a FULL ON REAL STEAK BABY! They got a customer for life in me. read more

The cinnamon roll is massive, but a great starter with some coffee if you're eating with a group. The staff works hard here and I have yet to wait very long for my meal. Enjoyed this little brunch spot that Yelp helped me find. Otherwise, I would have never noticed it tucked away in a small shopping center off Parker. We went on a Saturday around 11 and had a 20 minute wait. For brunch places, that's not terrible (having waited an hour at Snooze previously). The diner is small and quaint; the staff and servers were always moving because of how busy it was. The reason might be because the food is yummy and at a great price. I ordered the bacon breakfast burrito and it is huge. I'm talking larger than my forearm huge (tip: I preferred the red chili to the green chili - had a great flavor). Other dishes the table ordered were the blueberry pancakes and a Big Pig omelette. Everyone enjoyed their food and we all agreed it would be worth going back. Yummy food and great prices.
