Very relaxed atmosphere! Feels very much like a neighborhood gathering place, which I love. I have only been twice, both times for breakfast and both times the food was excellent. Service was interesting; not bad, but very relaxed as well. I did have something make me pause this visit, but I am not going to stop me from going back, in hopes it was just a fluke. Kind of worrisome though. I heated my leftovers in the microwave and there was a small explosion. I stopped it right away and found a small piece of metal tangled in my egg. I assume had there been more I would have known. No clue what it could have been from, but it looked as if it had been from the egg mix of my scramble. Found The Rock after trying to find a place with patio seating. The Rock definitely met this need-a covered patio was nice- and that was about it for meeting my needs. The servers were very nice and friendly, but they seemed very confused as to which table they were assigned to. This makes sense as I discovered later, after leaving the restaurant, that a couple of drinks from another table were charged to our table. The Rock has a signature margarita- The Rockarita. There is a 2 drink limit on these. They were fine, lot more simple syrup than tequila. I ordered this drink as well as a side of fries. My frustration comes from when I called The Rock to ask about the drink charges that were clearly not ours, the manager did not return my call. While a very nice hostess took down my name and number, there was no call back, so the charges remained. I suppose I could call my bank and dispute the charges. Seems like a lot of work to go through for a place I will not be returning to. Very Meh. Very underwhelmed. Very frustrated. read more

We wanted a refreshing adult beverage and to enjoy the nice weather on a patio, so our search led us to The Rock. The patio was large and nice. Service was so attentive that we had multiple servers trying to bring us drinks we didn't order. That should have been a clue. We ordered some fries to snack on, but they took a while to arrive. After inquiring about the order, we finally got it. After paying for our tab and leaving, it wasn't until later that my friend realized we were being charged for some beverages brought to our table that we hadn't ordered. Service is baaad! It's a Tuesday - it's not like a busy night! It was about 40% occupied. The food was just okay, the Margarita tasted like syrup water. The server forgot to bring husband a beer. They have EVERYTHING....maybe a LITTLE too much food...(but hey!!! I would rather have more options than none). Food is decent. Mexican is their speciality (I think), but you can't go wrong with with their Fish n Chips, Hot Roast Beef and wings!! The veggies were frozen, baked potatoes seemed old, salads were premade out of a bag, bread was toasted hot dog buns, au ju was powdered and prime rib was well done with no moisture in the meat. We ordered medium. Freezing cold in there and they wouldn't turn on the fireplace or turn up the heat. Waitress was great though. We certainly expected more for $75! Must have changed hands. Menu is huge and so is the space, we sat on the back patio and that bad boy was covered but got a lot of sun and they even had heaters out there because.....Colorado. I went around linner time so I ordered a salad and was surprised to see they had the option to add salmon. Food and service is good but the menu is a mess. Supposedly there are blue prices and black prices. Blue means if you are paying by credit card. Then they have a sign in the wall that says split checks are bad but Venmo is good. Stop charging different prices and average it the way every respectable business does. Focus on your wording or have a service do it. Stop telling people they can't discuss politics. It just means you don't like to be questioned. Stop telling the customer the bartender is always right. First I'll say, the food is always good. The reason I give 3 stars is because the last three times I've been here, there has been a miscommunication between us and our server. Today's was regarding meat on our nachos. Instead of beef or chicken, we asked for half and half. At first the server didn't know if we could get that, then she said "ok, yes" without checking on it. From past experiences, I very clearly explained we wanted beef on one side and chicken on the other, NOT the two mixed together. When it came, it was perfection...except for the foreign body my husband found in his mouth one bite. It was some kind of plastic. Really, The Rock is my favorite place for nachos (muchos nachos). The problem came with the bill. We were charged $12 for the meat. Six dollars for each. I explained to her that it should only be one charge for meat as we expected a half servings of each meat. Apparently, again, we did not explain in full, kindergarten level, what we were requesting. She took it to a manager and came back stating that it couldn't be done because they can't give half servings of meat. WHAT? Is it pre-packaged? Even then, couldn't they dump out only half a package? So, we ended up paying $34 for the large nachos and one soda. (It seemed too late to bring up the foreign body.) So, another lesson learned. read more

A group of six of us went there for lunch on Saturday. Our orders were taken in a timely manner. Hot tea, there were only two choices, Earl Grey and echinacea. So we chose water. Three of our lunches came out fine. Three of us had so many mistakes. Ordered black beans And were served refried beans. I asked for no rice got extra rice, but then the real issue was the service during. Or lack of. I never did receive my side of green chili and our server did take it off the bill after I asked him to. Three of our bills were incorrect. And at the end, waiting and waiting for change, my daughter just said well he can keep it. But that's not the point, the point is it was never returned. read more

We stop in to The Rock from time to time to get their enchiladas and watch sports. The drinks are a little pricey, but their daily food specials make up for it a bit. Tuesdays they have all you can eat tacos for less than $10. Thursdays is enchilada night and you can get them smothered in different things like green chile or queso. Check out their website for all of the daily specials. They have ones for lunch and ones for dinner. This place is great for watching sports but it does get very loud. The building echoes everyone's voice and seems to amplify it. They do have the NFL Sunday ticket and Amazon Prime so you can catch every football game. The staff is hit or miss. Most seem like they don't really care to even smile. But they are fast. You won't be sitting with an empty drink for a while. I have seen some of them work there for years. So I ordered the breakfast tacos. They tasted like the eggs were powdered and mixed with water, and there was zero seasoning. I ate two bites of the first taco and it was so bad, I didn't even want to box up the food to go. I sent it back and decided not to eat anything. When it came time for the bill, they first tried to get me to pay for the tacos. When I asked about paying for food that I didn't eat, the server said she would "give me a discount." When she came back she gave me 15% off and then tried to argue with me that there is a cost to make the food and pay the people who cook it. It was a very bizarre interaction, and I have never had a restaurant want me to pay for food that I did not eat. I would look at the multiple other 1 star reviews on this place, and take that into consideration as to why there are way better options to go and eat brunch at. We used to go to The Rock every other week. The last 3 times will now be the last. First the waiter forgot our order as we watched tables that ordered way after us receive food. Second time the fish and chips that used to be great were all batter with some old soggy I guess fish? inside. Today we were seated by the owner in a dirty green t-shirt then forgotten. Very disappointed. My wife's entree was cold, my burger with green chilli's had no flavor and the French fries were extremely greasy. It took 10 minutes before we could grab a server that wasn't our server to ask for new fries. When the new fries came, they were no better. We frequent the Rock at least twice a month and the food is usually good. The biggest issue is lack of proper training of the wait staff, making sure they check back with their tables within 2 to 3 minutes after food has been delivered and the fact you had a manager that didn't care enough to come to the table for feedback....she just didn't care enough about the guests. If I were the owner, I would not have a manager that cared so little. Get your act together or you will not survive in this industry. We have many neighbors that come to the Rock and they will not like hearing this. There is a lot of other choices. read more

Surprised this place has such bad reviews. For a local joint it's pretty good! It's simple, good American food with pretty decent service. The only thing I would recommend is for the wait staff to figure out how to work a gift card on their credit card machines. I don't mean to be rude but it's not difficult however, it was for them. Just ended up not using it as it wasn't worth the time it took. I truly enjoy their criss cut fries and a burger but really their menu hasn't disappointed me. I would give -5 stars if I could. My husband and I went to enjoy some good food. I've been multiple times before with friends and family. This time around was terrible. The waitress made eye contact with me and continued to walk by. No welcome in or anything, she didn't even acknowledge us. For better understanding of my post, my husband is white and I'm black. 3 more parties came in behind us. Still we waited another 10 minutes. An older woman walked by and did a double take at us. Looked surprised which was weird my husband said. Then walked off. I decided we should leave. As we turned to go, the First Lady immediate went to the couple behind us and said "Hi!, how many?"
