Did a full flight: the Honey Kölsch (an actual gold medal winner from the National Honey Board competition), the Amber (also gold medal, US Open), and the Dry Irish Stout on nitro (gold medal too), plus their Half Bent Session IPA. Of all the times I visit Southlands, this was my first checking into Bent Barley. It is a very nice bar with a super casual atmosphere. The Kolsch on tap was a hit and our server/bartender very friendly. I met up with new friends here to attend a Paint and Sip event. We had a table off to the side which worked well in terms of conversation and privacy (so as not to disturb other patrons). The instructor was helpful and clearly demonstrated the best way to painting. We had a good time and the cost to the event is very reasonable. The only food available for purchase are the traditional bar snacks (nuts, pretzels and jersey). Preorder from Waldo's and they will deliver or bring in a meal from a neighboring restaurant. read more

Great Staff! When we went in Deshawn was behind the bar. He was extremely helpful and provided excellent service. He's hands down the best beertender along with Jamie at their main location. My family was happy to see they opened a new location on Parker Rd area near Doug's Diner. I dropped in one day and was just as happy. There's alot of room Tvs, food trucks, and great service from the ladies there. It's great they get food trucks over there. Really Sucks the Republic of Southlands Property doesn't allow food trucks....Hey Southlands Mall make an exception for Breweries. If it wasn't for this brewery most would not be at Southlands so much so Thank You Bent Barley for being here. The atmosphere at both locations is great, great meet up location at both. It's been a couple years since we have visited and it is nice to see they just celebrated 6 years in business! The brewery is situated on the corner in Southlands boasting great light all around, sports on TV and staff that are friendly and engaging. I really enjoyed their Cherry Wheat and Hefeweizen. I've been coming here for a few years, and have never been let down. I work here with my laptop and a notebook and it's excellent for that purpose as well. The bartenders are all fantastic, and really foster the right balance of professional and laid-back attitudes. Excellent on their part. The beer is almost always excellent. The Flagships are all great (my favorite is the Nitro Dry Irish Stout), and the seasonal taps are almost all winner too! Honestly the ones I haven't liked have almost uniformly been because of personal preference. Theres only been one single beer that I've had here that was truly not very good. In several years and so many beers, that's excellent. The space is quite open and mostly high-tops. There is a small section of 3-4 tables of low-tops though. Always always clean. I've never been here and noticed cleanliness issues. You can also order food and have it delivered here, or bring your own! Which is great! Overall excellent spot that I've recommended to so many people, but never quite got around to leaving a review until now. Highly recommend! read more

Stopped back in after a long hiatus (2020). The Bent Barley IPA was awesome. My wife had the Red Ale American Amber and she loved it. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. Solid little brewery. Super nice staff. Love the spot with roll up doors and good seating. It also has great TV setup for watching games. They don't serve food but you can have food delivered. We see lots of ppl ordering indian food from Monsoon and pizza from somewhere else. They also have snacks on site like popcorn for purchase. Great brewery! We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. There's a decent, but not overwhelming, variety of beers - sours to stouts. The coffee porter was intense on the coffee flavor. The dry Irish nitro stout was smooth, as expected. Think a craft version of Guinness with a bit more character. The cranberry sour was not as sour as I had imagined it might be (I'm not normally a sour beer fan). Each time we've been here, the staff has been friendly. They have far more tap offerings than before and they are for the most part delish! ++ Being a fan of more "off the beaten path" styles I must say that I am loving their gose, saison, and chile beers! Recently the Cranberry Gose (talk about playing to the seasons) really knocked my socks off! That color - not to mention that flavor! I come into Bent Barley about 1-2 times per month. The prices are fair, the vibe is like a smaller brewery/sports bar. They are putting in outside seating soon that will be nice. I enjoy their wheat and Honey Kolsch. Their Barley wine is seasonal and legit. The place is dog friendly. Say hi to Chris Olson the bartender and he'll take care of you or one of the other friendly staff. They allow outside food, and we order Monsoon (Indian) from across the way.
