I went to the shop on 57st. 8th ave. on May 11, around 3:20pm . I first went up to the counter and there were 3 employees standing around not busy at all , as i stood there waiting to be greeted the employees just ignored me,one of them was just staring into space , when she came out of her state of oblivion she just pointed to the menu and stated "the menu is over there" very rude to say the least , although i did think of just walking away my craving for Doughnuttery got the better of me , so i stood there and placed my order , the only attempt at some sort of customer service was to say "enjoy" as she handed me my order. I don't give 5 star reviews. Not often at least. Forget "exceeding expectations". In this economy, combined with the new capitalism we've found ourselves in where everyone and anyone with a good idea can start a business overnight, exceeding expectations better be your norm or you're not going to last long. A 5 star review means that something or someone has to blow me away. It has to transcend the genre itself. This little bakery's doughnuts DO THAT! Yes they really are that amazing. Doughnuts are best when made fresh, and the Doughnuttery does just that. Their bite sized holes are fried in front of your eyes and rolled and topped with interesting combinations of ingredients that create some truly memorable flavor experiences. First the good, but now the bad. The Doughnuttery sells their doughnuts at a minimum of six per pop and doesn't allow you to mix and match for individual doughnuts, instead requiring you to buy a minimum of three per flavor. Lastly, the doughnuts are expensive, costing you $6 for six doughnut holes. Sure its touristy location in Chelsea Market ensures a hike in price but at this cost I'm not sure it's worth it outside of a visitor's novelty experience. read more

O.M.Geeee... ran into this shop like a squealing little girl. I have a love for sweets and cute things but this place takes the cake. The little mini doughnuts are made right in front of you. Then you get to pick which flavor you wanted and they have over 15+ flavors to choose from. The mini doughnuts were soft and bite size. It's was delicious. Awesome and cute bite sized donuts warm and fresh! It's a rather simple concept of making bite-sized donuts fresh outta the oil and then shaking it in the marvelous mixed flavors~ BUT OMG The flavors are phenomenal! My favorite and unique is the "Paris Time" - which incorporates vanilla sugar, pistachio, and LAVENDER! Not a lot of baked goods can incorporate lavender in their flavors as well as this place! Must try! The bacon one was a bit odd but also just as unique. Crunchy little bits of bacon = subtle but good. Lastly, we got one with cocoa nibs flavor which could be more chocolatey if you are a major chocolate person. However, I'm more of subtle taster and I prefered that it wasn't too chocolatey so you can taste the dough and smell the cocoa nibs. The fine sugars and warmth of the donuts were amazing enough to make it worth the wait. First time I tried I fell in love. Unfortunately second time I went again the experience not so great anymore. I ordered 6pcs with 1 different flavors, I didn't eat them right away cause they were hot. After walking around I decided to eat them and guess what they weren't 6 of them, they were only 5!!!!!! We stopped in Doughnuttery during our visit to Chelsea Market, our friend had heard about it from another friend so we wanted to try. This is a small shop where they make mini doughnuts in a little fryer mechanism right on the counter. They then dress up the doughnuts with a variety of flavors and toppings. We got lemon, cinnamon, and chocolate covered. The flavors were good, especially the lemon. Be aware however that these doughnuts are very small, about or ¼ the size of a "normal" doughnut, and they are roughly $1 each bought in packs of 6 or more. So, while the flavors were ok I doubt I'd go back again because of the cost. Ok for a one time visit during a vacation though, just to say you've eaten there. read more

We happened to stumble into this place and MAN! So happy that we did. I can't even begin to describe these donuts... First off, I do not have much of a sweet tooth. I usually do not opt in for dessert or sweets, but just the smell of this place had me drooling. I had a hard time picking only 2 flavors, so luckily my friend decided to get two different flavors other than mine and WOW. So flavorful and not overpowering! They were so warm and so soft. I stopped into Chelsea Market after dinner and decided to give the place a try. I decided on the 6 mini doughnuts and tried the Paris and Misletoe (which tasted a bit like gingerbread or holiday spice) sugars. Amazing! I liked that the doughnuts were lightly crunchy on the outside, and not cake-y. The sugars kept them airy, but I still felt like the 3 I had were enough of a dessert. This is a great place for an afternoon snack, great to share but when you try these donut you wont want too. My favorite donut flavor is the fruity pebbles because of its sweet flavor that brings back childhood nostalgia. Their concept is great, create donut flavors by covering fresh donuts with flavored sugar. The donuts come out nice and crispy. But only being able to taste 1/4 flavors I ordered left me pretty disappointed. In order of preferences from top to bottom: Paris time - the lavender had a distinctive flavor that brought together the vanilla and pistachio. Pumpkin pie brulee - tasted the pumpkin and fall spices, but it was meh Green tea buzz - looked green but just tasted like a sugar donut. Urban monkey - had the coconut flavor but missing the coffee and banana. maybe they made me a purely tropical monkey instead? Not sure if its a lack of uniformity or if its the smell of the donut overpowering my ability to taste the sugars but these donuts need to go back to the sensory lab. P.S.
