I went into Chelsea Market looking for something sweet and indulgent, and I was lured by the scent of these donuts. As I walked down the narrow aisle to get to their stand, I was imagining lavish glazes, unique gooey fillings, and dancing sugarplums, but then as I started reading the menu and saw the teeny tiny donuts, my dream bubble burst. The concept here is a bit more simple - miniature classic cake donuts dusted with various flavors of sugar. Not exactly what I was looking for but I was committed to eating a donut at that point. The minimum you can buy are 6 for $6 with the option to choose two flavors. I choose the Green Tea Buzz whose sugar was flavored with matcha, honey, and ginger, and also got the Cacaoboy, flavored with cacao nibs, chocolate cookie, and sea salt. A little donut machine cranks out the 1.5 inch donuts and then the donuts are dropped in a bag and sprinkled with flavored sugar. The donuts were hot, fresh, cakey but fluffy. Out of the two flavors, the Green Tea donut had a slight edge as I love matcha, although the ginger flavor overpowered. The Cacaoboy would have been better if it was a chocolate donut, but the sea salt was a nice touch. I would only come back if I had the option to choose more flavors in one order and if they dropped the price to $.50 each. The donuts were okay, they're small donuts that get their flavoring from the specialty flavored sugar crystals that coat the donuts. Not quite what I expected but that explains how they made them relatively quickly. They're also really pricey [1 small donut for $1] but I still ate my donuts with confidence. I ordered the green tea flavored ones [matcha buzz] but didn't really get any of that green tea flavor at all, which is a huge let down. The donuts themselves were fairly well-made, but I don't really think they warranted their high price. They were fairly small, so I don't imagine them being very satisfying unless you shelled out for like 6 of them for $6. Maybe I'm not a donut person. I'm also trying to save my money where I can. I like this place. The people are VERY friendly and they seem to like their job. We went after having tasty tacos down the way. We were in need of a little tasty treat. I heard about this place from a co-worker and I decided to finally check it out. It's a cute little place hidden in the far back right when you walk into where the entrance is coming from the Chelsea Market area. We walked up and go greeted yet we were in awww. I saw this powder like substance and I asked what it was, he said "fruity pebble" which I was like OH my that sounds amazing. I defiantly like me some fruity pebbles so we decided to get 6 of those and 6 of a cinnamon and sugar. Let me just tell you the cinnamon and sugar wasn't really all that tasty compared to the fruit pebble one. The Doughnuttery is known for Hot, Fresh, and uniquely sugared donuts! They are delicious but like may other yelpers have stated, its not worth the price for 6 donuts for 6$. They only allow you do pick two flavors which is disappointing because I did want to try more than one, but didn't want to order a dozen. (They do have other options- check the menu online/or call) (-) Service was mediocre. When I asked the cashier her recommendation on flavors, she simply pointed to the menu and listed was "popular flavors". It would have been nice to hear her input from personal experience. Very subtle not too overpowering pumpkin flavor. Flavor is all in the sugar. The doughnut it self was any other doughnut, but they just dip it in the sugar flavor mix. I tried the chocolate glaze , vanilla glaze , coco mint pattie and lemon pop. I was surprised that they put the donuts in bags by flavor. They were pretty pressed together, wish they came in a small donut box. I also would have posted a picture to Instagram/yelp if they were presented nicer which would be great for business. I had a VERY poor experience with Donuttery. I found an image of mini donuts on Donuttery's website and requested an order mimicing the elegant designs represented in that image, with a slight variation in color scheme. I was mortified when I got my acthal donuts. They looked nothing like the donuts in that original image, which were beautiful, artistically crafted donuts with unique sprinkles thoughtfully and generously placed -- something you would proudly showcase at a high-end event like a wedding or bridal shower. Instead, I received donuts that looked like a kid decorated them, with sprinkles carelessly and sparsely placed. I was embarrassed to present them at my party. But since I paid $90 for 4 dozen MINI donuts, I felt obligated to serve them. I just didn't feature them like I originally intended. After the event, I wrote a note to the owner Evan and expressed my extreme disappointment. I didn't ask for my money back or a discount for a future order. I wanted to let the owner know about my experience and see if he had an explanation. Evan wrote back defensively refuting my claims and stated that the donuts I received were very similar to the donuts in the original image. I've posted the pictures here to show you what I mean by a variance of quality. I even polled my friends and colleagues and they unanimously said there was a big difference in quality -- like night and day. You would never believe they were made by the same company. They had more of a funnel cake texture. We tried the Coco Loco and Speckled Strawberry Doughnuts. A minimum order is six minis and you get to pick up to two flavors. The Coco Loco dust was made of chocolate cereal and cocoa; I liked this flavor more than the other but it wasn't too chocolatey. The Speckled Strawberry doughnuts had strawberry, lemon-thyme, and rainbow sprinkles; except ours didn't have rainbow sprinkles and I was disappointed.
