This isn't my first time here and even though they have a wide choice of doughnuts they rush you, without letting you take a few mins to take it all in. The person that gave us our bag of doughnuts called out the wrong order and when I was confused about whether it was our order quite rudely asked my what I paid for. Food: Im not a doughnut connoisseur, so for me the doughnuts were just like any other doughnut. They do claim to use better ingredients and the doughnuts did taste like they were made with good ingredients. However, they are doughnuts so how healthy or good for you can they be? Holy doughnuts!!!! This place is great. The location is very busy but the staff keeps the line moving. This is not your typical doughnut establishment. These are well thought out and crafted masterpiece doughnuts. Seriously....they are that good. Try one of the square doughnuts that is completely filled. Every bite contains filling. I love that!! A peach glazed cake donut in the summer...not greasy, perfect amount of real-peachy flavor (not that off-putting fake flavor stuff). It was a delightful donut to remember. As an architectural designer, I love their graphic designer and interior space! Their donuts are very delicious. They are rich in flavor and more 'breaded'. Some can be airy. I prefer the yeast type. The hibiscus is kind of weird, reminds me of ketchup... their matcha could be better. All things chocolate and caramel and their dulce de leche - amazing!! It is pricey. Oh man, donuts (doughnuts?). I love them, but I know they're a special treat kind of food, not for every day. So, I wait for an excuse and then gobble them down. When my friend visiting from overseas wanted an authentic Brooklyn experience (whatever that is?), I brought her to Bergen bagel across the street which gave us an excuse to come in here! She bought I think six or seven donuts to try and take back to her family (at the hotel, not overseas). The staff here are good natured, knowledgeable about the product, patient around indecisive customers. They have a large range of hot and cold drinks, including non dairy milks (oat and macadamia), and the espresso quality is excellent. The donuts themselves are delicious. They make two basic types of dough, yeast and cake. If you want to know more than that, ask them, and they'll be happy to explain much more than I can remember! Went ahead and ordered a dozen mixed and shared it with some co workers and my life has truly changed. I had the blackout which is pure chocolate in doughnut form but not overly sweet.The dough has the perfect texture which I would describe as a light chewiness. The glaze is what did it for me. They go the extra mile and ensure that both sides are covered in the brown gold. I'd say my experience was a good one and look forward to going here again. So happy Doughnut Plant opened by me. These are the best doughnuts ever! Even though the yeast ones are my favorite, I wouldn't decline a cake one. I tried many of their flavors, but my favorites are still the creme brûlée doughseed, the blackout doughnut, and the jam filled square yeast doughnut. I am a lover of sweets and this was probably the best donut I've had outside of the family owned donut shop in Oaks Bluff on Martha's Vineyard that serves hot donuts for cheap while their making the first batches at 2 am. I'd been searching for a taste that good since middle school and this was the ticket! I had the Dulce De Leche donut and a coffee. It really just doesn't get much better than this when it comes to doughnuts! Trust! Doughnut Plant is a NYC staple and easily takes the prize for the best doughnut around! They feature specialty doughnuts mostly with unique combinations of flavors like Marzipan, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Orange Cranberry, Tres Leches, +++ These flavors are either baked into the dough and presented as more of your standard hole-in-the-middle doughnut OR stuffed with various creamy delights! Personally, I prefer their stuffed donuts, but that's just me. =) The other cool thing about the Doughnut Plant is that they feature 2 sizes of donuts. The smaller ones are just right when you want to satisfy your sweet tooth and don't wanna pack on too many calories in one sitting. Note that this location has been built out of an old building in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn (near-ish downtown) and really looks spectacular on the inside and outside. Favs: Creme brulee (but you have to get a bite of the filling along with the crispy top in order to truly appreciate it), pistachio and the pecan beignet flavors. Vanilla's pretty spot-on too. These little pillows of joy have a texture in between a dense, kind-of-dry more traditional doughnut and a melt-in-your-mouth, barely there Krispy Kreme doughnut. Thanks to my brother, I got the chance to explore the Doughnut Plant yesterday. God bless him :) The building looks like the flat iron building, at least to me :) When we walked in, i was sad to see more than half of the choices were already gone but as a chocolate person, I were glad to see the ' Manhattan Cream ' one so I did order that. It has white cream inside but covered with chocolate outside. My brother is a fun of ' Creme Brulee ' so he got that and my bf got the Peanut butter banana cream square donut. They do have a full espresso bar so whatever you like, you'll have it. We ordered a latte, a macchiato and regular coffee. Donuts were gone in 3-4 minutes. So yummy they were. We had a prejudice that the peanut butter one will be a heavy one but hell no, it was simply delicious. Drinks took a bit long to be served but it only made us get another donut to try and one to go :) Loved their to go bags. Let's start off by saying these are not the doughnuts of your childhood. My all-time favorite doughnuts are the ones that came in a big pink box: classic glazed, chocolate frosting, maybe some sprinkles or a maple bar, for about $6 a dozen. But once you're willing to accept that you're at a high-end, gourmet doughnut shop, which probably didn't even exist when I was a child, at a much higher price point, I know you'll end up loving Doughnut Plant as much as I do. My favorite part of Doughnut Plant is that they offer both yeast and cake doughnuts. I love both and there are times when I crave one over the other... or even better, when I want one of each. I also love how they have doughnut holes (they call them doughseeds) that have filling in them. That's something that your cheap neighborhood pink box shop won't have. Their larger filled donuts are square shaped to give you maximum filling to dough. Genius! They have wonderful rotating flavors, like rose, and strawberry with fresh berries in the dough (I'm more of a fruit lover than a chocolate gal, though they have plenty of those options too). The place is packed at all times, but the people working there are happy to give you recommendations based on what you're looking for. Maybe it was that opening day magic. Maybe this Doughnut Plant is just particularly on point. Whatever the reason, it blows its own flagship location out of the water. First up, the triple-chocolate mint donut. This cakey delight was heavy on the chocolate and just light enough on the mint - a great (if wildly fattening) way to start the day if ever I've seen one. Next up is the unfortunate middle child of this review, the panettone donut. I'm a bit of a panettone affecionado so I was a bit concerned about this one. Truth be told, they're on the right track. They're just having an unfortunate issue where the little chunks of fruit are burning and messing up my last few bites of doughnut. Last up is their new citron flavor. A citrusy glaze introduces a light-tasting cake on the inside, with an aftertaste almost... floral? Regardless, it works. Absolutely a worthy addition to the lineup! Lastly, a bit about the space. Comfortably seats about 15, maybe more if you're willing to scooch over. Hardwood and brick lets you know you're in Brooklyn, while grey stone seats with colorful donut shapes let you know you're in Doughnut Plant. Dear friends, I've decided to write this review so that I may hopefully save you or someone you know from the black hole that is the Donut Plant. Now let's take a step back because I've actually never been inside of this place. Though it's literally about 200 feet from the door of my apartment and I must pass by it two times a day every week day to get to work, I've done my darnedest to turn my head away from this devil of an establishment. So why am I reviewing this place you ask? It was a rainy Sunday evening in Winter when my roommate stood up excitedly from our warm and comfy couch and exclaimed "I need a donut right now!" He quickly threw on a coat and jogged across the street, returning exactly 7 minutes later with not 1, not 2, but 4....4 donuts. After shuttering in disgust, he explained to me that they just GAVE HIM 2 FREE DONUTS because they were seasonal....whatever that means. Anyway, my roommate (being the terrible person that he is) offers me bites of his donuts! I know right? You'd be pissed too. Keep in mind that he knows that 1. I'm gluten free and have not eaten a donut in over 2 years (yea you read that right...2 years) 2. I don't eat processed food 3. I don't (read: I try hard not to..) eat sugar and most importantly, 4. My 31st birthday is tomorrow and everyone knows that once you've passed 30, that ass is yours for life. Add all of those together and donuts are basically my worst nightmare. After convincing me that I am completely insane, he waved the sweetest and moistest (is that even a word?) carrot cake donut FILLED WITH CREAM in front of my nose. You can imagine the wrestling match that ensued. Sadly, he won. So how was it you ask? It was the best donut I've ever eaten in my entire life. It doesn't even stop there. Following the carrot cake masterpiece came the Blackout which was another moist and pillowy beautiful creation of chocolate glazed donut with chocolate creamy goodness and topped with chocolate shavings that most likely floated down from the heavens. After that? A glazed pistachio donut with pieces of pistachio on the outside and more creamy cream on the inside. Lastly there was a blueberry something or other. At this point, I was lying on the floor with sugary drool coming out of the side of my face hole. I vaguely remember hearing the soft moans of my roommate as he gently devoured his remaining prize. So for all of you out there who think that you can walk into this place for a quick snack, I'm sorry to say that you are mistaken. Proceed with caution. You will never be the same again. Doughnut Plant takes over where Yummy Taco used to exist. Gentrification! I've been to the 23rd street location before, and this one is much less of a scene. There are a handful of tables, but the customer space is actually relatively small, and awkwardly long. There are two entrances, but the line for the register makes no sense. They make you line up away from the donut display, and then get testy when you're facing the other way. Having had the famed creme brulee donut before (and being underwhelmed), I ended up getting one of the specials - the oatmeal donut. If you want an ingredient that adds texture but absolutely no flavor and is a task to chew, that's a good choice. Other than that, it's probably a decent dessert spot for after a date. I have never in my life had a $4 doughnut but I guess there is a first time for everything. I tried the vanilla bean and blackberry jam donut as well as the peanut butter and jelly donut. $4 each! Fantastic selection of donuts! I experienced many Doughnut Plant donuts (work events, other cafe/coffee shops in town, friends' places) before I actually made the trip to the place itself. It is definitely worth stopping by in person, such a cool little joint with interesting things to look at everywhere. They have some indoor seating and a long bench lining the outside which gives you plenty of options if you can't wait to you get home before enjoying your treat. They have two major types of donuts; yeast donuts which are the lighter and fluffier version, and cake donuts which are the heavier cake filled donuts. Both are delicious so there's not a bad choice here. The donuts also come in varied shapes (some are squared and filled, some are traditional round, some minis) depending on the flavor and if it's got a filling or not. The donuts are on the more expensive side ($3.50-$4 each) but it's NYC. So no surprises. Our favorite flavors: Tres Leches, Brooklyn Blackout (chocolate lovers delight!), Peanut Butter and Jam, and Creme Brûlée. Tips: -They offer a discount for larger orders of donuts (10% off for a dozen, 5% off for a half dozen) -They stay open pretty late (10 or 11 pm) which makes donuts for dessert a great option if you forget to stop in the AM (or maybe donuts for breakfast and for dessert?) -They have all sorts of iced and hot coffees and teas which I've been told are delicious by friends! read more

Hi my name is Kay and I'm addicted to donuts/doughnuts. I wanted to visit the Doughnut Plant for sometime. I was in the area the past few days and decided to stop by. Another yelper recommended that I try Crème brûlée and it was a great recommendation. I also tried the Pralines doughnut, it was good, but not as good as the Crème brûlée. I wish I could eat 2 different donuts every day for the next week, but, that's probably not a good idea. I look forward to trying the coffee and more donuts next time. I like donuts. I mean who doesn't like a good donut. Forget your guilty conscience just go in get one or two. We got the Coconut Cream Doughnut and the Peanut Butter Raspberry Doughnut. The Coconut Cream was good. A nice glaze of coconut cream over the doughnut. Not too sweet. Soft and gooey. The Peanut Butter Raspberry Doughnut was yummy. I like the peanut butter just glazes over the doughnut. I also like that there bits of pieces of peanut butter chunks. When you bite into it there is raspberry filling in it. Very good.
