We stopped in for drinks only, mid-day on a Thursday. They have some outdoor booths located on what used to be street parking, which are a great outdoor option. Strict COVID protocols in place. Their pizza is delicious!!! Every pizza on the menu sounded amazing but we landed on the Heirloom Tomato pizza. It is a seasonal special that was recommended by the waitress. The pizza had a light touch of basil walnut pesto followed by cheese and loaded with thick sliced locally farmed heirloom tomatoes. It was simple and yet packed an explosion of flavor. During pandemic eating-out I recommend this is a place to go to sit outside and soak up the sun and feel the strong winds that wind surfers ride in the Columbia River. Hood River is internationally called the windsurfing capital of the world. And Double Mountain brewery is called the hang out for locals and tourists after a day wind surfing the river or hiking and mountain biking the trails in the Columbia River Gorge - which I call the 9th wonder of the world. Pizza is cooked at 700 degrees in a Brick Oven. Crust super thin and not limp like some. Firm and good crunch and well balanced with toppings. Standard or light charr produces a good flavor on the crust. We went with the large Jersey pie with hot capicola, provolone and Mama Lil's peppers. And a pint of Idaho IPA - good brew selection of their own. Delish! We took left overs back to camp but it did not last over night. During Covid times Double Mountain took over the street side and built some really cool cabanas with a picnic table. You can tell a finish carpenter built and finished the wood to perfection. Came here looking for a quick bite before our train ride. The inside is welcoming and typical of what you'd expect from a brew pub. The employees were all friendly and we were quickly greeted and served. We got the chips, salsa and guacamole appetizer. Came here on a holiday weekend and this place was packed! Checked in with the hostess stand for a table outside and while we waited for our table we grabbed some beers from the bar. Pleasantly surprised that our wait was shorter than the quoted time. Our server was prompt and friendly, no complaints on the service at all. We ordered: -Mezze Platter ($13.50) - appetizer plate, solid choice with hummus and pita with feta, olives, etc. -Salami Pie ($29.50) - pizza with salami and mozzarella with a big heap of arugula piled on top. The pizza crust and salami were great but the arugula was a bit overpowering. Wish they had added less and maybe dressed it with balsamic or even some simple olive oil/salt and pepper. The beer selection was fantastic. My favorite was the Jiro Japanese lager. Also note dogs are only allowed outside and that's strictly enforced. When I first came to Hood River with my girlfriend (now wife), we went straight to Double Mountain to meet up with some friends. I remember having the Vaporizer IPA and it felt like I had found my new favorite brewery. It was a standard NW-style IPA but it had some refined characteristics to it. In subsequent visits, we tried more of the beer and their pizza (I highly recommend the Truffle Shuffle), and it has become a must-visit spot whenever we are in Hood River. We've been up several times during Zwickelmania and Double Mountain has never disappointed. We've done the brief brewery tour every time so that we could meet with the staff, who have always been friendly and inviting. read more

Pretty normal for people not familiar with the menu. Got one beer order in, was polishing it off quickly quickly so looked around for over 20 minutes to order another because it was my jam: peach Belgian ale: YES I'll have a growler! But sorry no. 9:02 and they stop selling anything exactly at 9:00. RUDE when asked if they could squeeze another beer in, he gave me a direct hostile glare and a "I was BUSY handling other things." I get that, just nicer ways to deliver a "no" dude. I was putting out positive vibes and didn't appreciate the negative, icy return. Late on this review as we visited with a large group in August 2022. We had 8 people and the place was very busy, yet our service was great. Friendly and since no one knew the menu or the brews, we had questions and the server had answers...lots of answers...it was great. I personally got a pizza with my wife and we really enjoyed it (Oregon is not a good pizza state btw). I enjoyed one of their beers and everyone else were commenting on how great their beers tasted. I went inside to get my order and they said it was not ready. After waiting another 15 minutes I went back inside again to see if the order was ready and it was still not ready. At this point I was getting really frustrated and impatient. Finally after an hour of waiting they were ready to picked up. Sad to say we were generally disappointed. It was rated well and said to be pretty good by locals. Food: Spinach artichoke dip was, um... interesting. Think salty green dip with baby food consistency. Margherita pizza my crust was burnt. I ate the toppings alone. Tuna melt tasted like pure salt. We postulated they were trying to get us to drink more beer. Beers were fine. Hefe and root beer were enjoyable. Service: Order taken by server. Drinks dropped off by server. Food dropped off by someone different. Crickets... No one ever checked on us. We never did see our server again. Otherwise we would have likely mentioned the food issues. A random employee helped us get a fork. Bonus: We had several large piles of napkins on the table. Maybe we appeared messy... We had to go up front to find someone to pay. I LOVE their pizza. That in itself is five stars every time. I've tried most of them but my favorite is the Margherita followed by the Truffle Shuffle. Oddly I am not a fan of goat cheese on pizzas, however, I am a sucker for anything with truffle oil so had to give it a go and was quite pleased. The goat cheese simply enhanced the taste versus overwhelming it instead. The Margherita is perfect in its simplicity. The crust is always charred just right and chewy. The beers are always awesome, and I've not had an IPA I don't like here. You're pretty much guaranteed a wait especially on the weekends so be prepared - and even moreso with COVID times. My husband ordered their Cuvée Krieken beer (hints of dark cherry/smelled like a Port) and I got their non-alcoholic housemade ginger ale. He enjoyed his drink, but mine was a bit underwhelming. To share, we got the Mediterranean pizza (feta, tomatoes, olives, peperoncini, and garlic cloves). The pizza was perfectly crunchy and had the right chewiness.
