Nice place and setting is beatiful, but I honestly think it is over priced for what you get. The June loop is a great place to visit, but unlikely we will be coming back to this specific location. For the money we paid, I expected cleaner accommodations. Bathroom, bedding, microwave and fridge could be detailed. read more

This resort gets 5 stars for letting me enjoy my trip to June Lake with my dog. I really enjoyed my hot stone massage, hanging out at the pool, and getting delicious soy lattes at the spa. The guys who work at the spa reception were really nice and chill and made us feel welcome. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the kitschy gold rush decor in a spa but I suppose it gives the place character. The lodge is not actually on June Lake, but it is surrounded by beautiful mountains and great hikes within walking distance. read more

This place was so relaxing and spa services were great, however, I was really irritated that there were kids in the jacuzzi playing while I tried to relax after the spa services. I wish this was more of an adult spa. It would have made my experience a much better experience read more

My family and I were here in July for a Family/Friend Wedding! It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL here. The Wedding was Amazing! The BEST Wedding we have ever attended, ofcourse because of the couple being married and the family but ALSO because of the Resort and the people involved in putting everything together. The Wedding Coordinator, Jessica was amazing as were the staff and everyone I dealt with at the Resort. The grounds were beautiful. We loved our cabins. Everything was PERFECT! I would highly recommend this place for a Wedding and/or a vacation spot. We had left behind an ipad and I called the next day to see if it was there because we were still in the area. I was told it was not. Two days later, I got a call from the resort saying that they did find our ipad and they sent it out to us immediately at no cost. Very NICE! My family and I will definitely come back to vacation at this beautiful site. Barbara read more

Found the Double Eagle Resort and Spa on Tripadvisor because my husband and I wanted to get away before the craziness of the holidays. The resort was awesome. We got there before check in and was able to check into our room and then have lunch after a 6 hour drive. We stayed in a room that overlooked the frozen pond which was awesome. The only suggestion was that we had people staying above us and you could literally hear every step they took from morning until they went to bed. I would suggest reserving a cabin if that kind of thing bothers you. Our room was super cozy and spacious. Huge jacuzzi tub and separate stand in shower. Very large bathroom was great too. The room had a good size refrigerator and a little sink for a mini kitchen with coffee maker. The room had a fireplace too, but not wood burning, just a gas one. We did not end up using any of the amenities the resort offers because we were too busy exploring the area, however, next time we want to use the indoor pool and fitness center. We did enjoy our meals at the onsite restaurant, which worked out perfectly. The only thing that would have made it better would be room service! The food was tasty and moderately priced. We had excellent service at every meal we ate and felt very welcomed and at home. We definitely cannot wait to go back to the Double Eagle Resort but want to book a cabin for the wood burning fireplace and less noise from above. read more

Double Eagle Resort - Dining room in the restaurant with a cracking fire. - Resorts Near Me - June Lake, California

The massage therapist/service was poor. After calling ahead of time to be sure that the facility could accommodate making one of the massages into a couple massage and talking with the manager to be sure this could be done, we arrived for appointment and they had only a record of one of us down for a massage. The manager did act quickly and was able to call a local masssage therapist to come in to do both of us. Once that was straightened out, the room and environment was great, but for over $400 spent the massage was very poor. The massage therapist barely felt like she was touching me, she forgot parts of the massage that were advertised like face and scalp massage. It was a total waste of a lot of money. However my fiance did say that his massage was good, so maybe the massage being poor was just the person I got. read more

We stayed here over Christmas, drawn by their promise of an upscale resort and spa that was pet friendly. The cabin was dirty (dust and grime along the edges of the floor), the furniture was worn and faded, the fake plants were dusty and fell apart when you tried to move them, they had a holiday snowman out that had half of its face broken off. The sink was cracked, the faucets didn't work right, the water pressure was terrible, it was very dark in the tiny shower, but there was just enough light to see the mildew. The towels were worn and mismatched, the toilet was unstable and had cracking paint. The stove was constantly clicking like it was trying to light, which was disconcerting to say the least. We often travel with our dogs and understand that you don't get to stay in the nicest rooms, but I have never stayed in a place this bad. It was extremely disappointing and we will not go back. read more

My husband and I recently stayed 4 nights, along with the majority of our wedding guests, for our dream destination wedding. Unfortunately, working with the event coordinator(s) and GM of the Double Eagle was a struggle to say the least. While the place excels at natural beauty due to it's location, the majority of the staff is less than stellar (a few of them were great). As a bride preparing for my dream destination wedding, I couldn't get my phone calls or emails returned; neither could our family members who were traveling from all over the United States. Simple tasks were made very challenging to accomplish from afar due to horrible customer service. The Double Eagle did nothing above and beyond for us as the bride and groom. When we checked in to our cabin, they had to double check if it was clean, and there were no flowers, chocolates, or a card to welcome us to our bridal suite (all my girlfriends have had this done for them on their weddings). I was told the Bodie room, where myself and my bridesmaids got ready on our wedding day, was going to be set up beautifully with multiple floor length mirrors, flowers, and would be made to feel special...it looked like a low grade conference room when we walked in with 3 small, dusty mirrors and no where to hang up our dresses! My bridesmaids had to ask maintenance to bring up one floor length (dirty) mirror and an old rack to hang our dresses on. I could go on with more unacceptable experiences, but I think you all get the picture that customer service was/is horrible and unprofessional. It seems clear to us that the Double Eagle has gone down hill since we first discovered and fell in love with it, maybe this is due to it being for sale? We had a great wedding due to our amazing family and friends all pitching in to make it a memorable and special weekend/day. Will we go back to the Double Eagle...yes, because it is a special location for us. We will NEVER recommend anyone have their wedding here. read more

Stopped here for lunch a few miles west of June Lake as the town can be so busy at times. A very nice setting with excellent service, good food, portions and prices. I had the Tequila chicken with penne pasta in a creamy sauce which was very good. There is a medium or hot sauce available but I think they may overwhelm the cream sauce. read more

We went in the off-season (mid-April) for a weekend getaway and had a great time. Everything was excellent but we were literally one of 7 couples in the entire compound. Free cookies were dope. Bed comfortable, area was super quiet, fireplace in room, jaw-dropping views, squirrels, duckies. Spa was cool (expensive) and had a good couples massage. Relaxing hikes nearby, restaurant on-site, pool, jacuzzis, saunas... spent a really regenerative time here that I won't forget. Want to come back but liked so much having the whole place to ourselves that I think off-season is only time we'll do it! read more

I just got married here on July 4th and couldn't ask for anything better. . The view was great the cabin was comfy. The wedding was AMAZING. the only thing I could say bad was no cold beer in the spa.. boo to that. But overall it was a fantastic wedding and couldn't be happier with the location we picked. read more

This is my favorite place to stay in California, not only because June Lake is beautiful, but because staying here just makes you feel good. The spa has awesome facials and massages- so relaxing. The restaurant- great ambiance with a breathtaking view of the Sierras...I love their breakfast too. I read somewhere that it is one of the top 10 resorts in the world. Love it! www.doubleeagle.com read more

The restaurant is a great local spot with amazing food and a fun atmosphere. Tried the Kobe burger and the baked brie and they were both seriously delicious. Plus they were half off during happy hour so that was a huge plus. We ate in the bar area, which is small with not a whole lot of seating, but it's also the only place they have happy hour prices sooo it was worth it to wait a bit. As for the service, everyone there is incredibly nice, but you should expect a bit of a delay if they're swamped. read more

We have stayed at the Double Eagle resort several times and really enjoyed it. My understanding is there is new management now. The service as well as quality and cleanliness of rooms has significantly declined. I called the day prior to arrival asking what check in time was. They stated they would try to have room ready early , but guaranteed we could check-in by 4pm. We were unable to check in until two hours AFTER 4pm. We had the extra expense of eating out instead of cooking the food we brought for dinner in the room. We waited an entire day for toiletries and bathroom essentials after requesting 3 times throughout the day. The room was very warn and several items and furnishings were broken. They were very understaffed and unavailable for any needs. The resort is in a prime location and the surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. It is a shame that the resort is not honoring the beauty of the location or the price they are charging. The quality of the accommodations and service experienced at Double Eagle resort is significantly below what you would expect for the price you are paying. Very overpriced for what you are receiving as a guest. read more

I've been to the spa twice in the last couple of months for a massage. Both times I've had Amanda. She is AH-mazing! Last massage my neck was really tense. She treated me with aromatherapy and I'm still relaxed! She really knows her stuff about aromatherapies and herbal remedies. If you really want to treat yourself, go get a massage from Amanda! Also..the gentleman at the front desk is super nice and helpful! Love this place.... read more

Went here for dinner and it was phenomenal! Went with a group of people and had the blackened salmon, rosemary lamb, flat iron steak, chicken noodle soup and howling coyote pasta and it all came out hot and delicious. Would recommend anything on the menu. The service was great as well. Definitely a go to if your in town. read more

This review is for the cabins. We had previously stayed in a resort room a couple of years ago which was awesome and were somewhat disappointed in the Lundy Lake cabin when we stayed a few weeks ago. While there were several pluses to the cabin, I couldn't get over the fact that the room really needed a thorough going over by maintenance and evaluation by management. There we many items that were broken or worn out like pulls on the fan/light, closet doors that were almost impossible to open, a smoke detector that was hanging by wires, broken down living room furniture, a toilet that wobbled, and worn out towels. Also, the room with the queen bed was so cramped that we both ran into a mirror that wasn't flush with the wall on more than one occasion. While the setting and property are great, I really expected a little bit better from the cabin. read more

we stayed here with our family (7 of us) during summer time and rented one of their cabins. What a wonderful place, from our cabin we could see and at night hear the waterfall. Did I mention they have an indoor pool, the kids loved it and they've been asking to go back. the drive's a little long from LA but the resort was worth driving for. My daughter( she's 4) even caught a fish. will definately go back read more

Exceptional staff and facilities. Stayed here for our friends' wedding and the staff did a fantastic job from start to finish! They went well above and beyond to ensure a fantastic experience for our friends' and their family and friends. Great time! The room was very nice especially the bathroom with a huge jacuzzi tub and rain-shower head in separate, large shower stall. Cute little gas-burning "cabin-stove" and lodge/cabin furniture were really authentic feeling. The grounds are very well taken care of and right in the middle of gorgeous forest with several walking paths around. Visible waterfalls on huge granite hills with gorgeous green trees. A bit on the pricier side but definitely worth every penny for the environment and service! read more

We were at the restaurant 6 years ago and remembered it being great. We were looking forward to it. A little disappointed this time. The food wasn't bad, and service was good. Just looks like it could use a good cleaning. It felt dirty, the windows, the floor, spider webs. The music was funky for dinner. Must be different management. read more

This is a tough review. This resort is absolutely amazing in some aspects and very lacking in others. If they just stepped up a few areas they could easily charge 400-500 a night. First, the location and view is outstanding. You can watch waterfalls off of the mountains of Yosemite and relax next to fish ponds or streams of small brooks running from the mountains. magical. The cabins are all wood and smell amazing, the pool/spa area is gorgeous and the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Now here is what I was not impressed with: The rooms have NO A/C. There is a gorgeous Gas fireplace in the room.... but no A/C? install a wall unit. Even the KOA cabin we went to recently had a wall A/C unit. This is NOT a kid friendly place. I wish i knew this ahead of time. Kids are only welcome in the pool at two 2 hour blocks during the day and I felt like to had to tell my child not to make any noise or act like a child while we were there. There are signs everywhere telling you to keep children and pets away from certain areas. The room includes a efficiency style sink and cabinet with mugs... but apparently you will be charged $50 if you don't wash your mug?! I could honestly spend an amazingly romantic week here with just my husband... but the bizarre rules would have me checking other resorts first. The restaurant was weird in that it was gorgeous and the food was great...but the service was terrible. Our server forgot some of our food and never returned to give us the check. We had to go to the front and wait at the desk to pay. read more

I was here with my boyfriend for a weekend. This is the best resort that i have stayed in. They also had a fishing pond right next to the check in office. Great place! read more

I am very sorry to hear about the experiences of the one/two star posters below; especially the wedding.... that's such a special event. I'm only rating for the fitness facility as the Double Eagle health club is my home gym. I'm grateful for the wonderful service and beautiful facility to workout. It's quiet, never overcrowded (like I imagine Snow Creek in Mammoth to be) and they have a wide variety of equipment that isn't "out of order". The cardio is on the second floor (mostly treadmills and elliptical machines; one stairmaster, two stationary bikes). They have free weights, benches, weight machines, mats and a studio (haven't attended a class yet). I wish they had a pull-up station (there is sort of one but it's not stable) and a glute master or glute kickback machine. The manager Megan is really nice.... both of the Chris's that work there are too. I appreciate their good customer service. I love the locker room.... there is a private dressing room, a woman's only jacuzzi, large showers with a killer peppermint body wash. The powder rooms are roomy and well-lit and well-stocked (razors, blow dryer, tissue, etc). I have been to some top-notch athletic clubs in Asia and Hawaii and I would consider their dressing/powder room up to par. Towels and locker keys (free for day use) are up front at the reception. I think for the eastern sierra, it's above standard. I have used their pool once and enjoyed that. Luckily, no loud crowds of children; that would drive me off like the below poster wrote. Love kids but would probably schedule my visit before or after a kid's lesson. During the winter, I have used their groomed cross-country circuit. Beautiful views!! The only other thing that could be an improvement for me are the hours of operation. I would love to come here before work; however, they are opened up later for a fitness club (7am) .... I would go at 5:00 am; have to be at work by 7:30 am. One advantage of Snowcreek is their earlier hours. I believe both close at 9pm.... which is also earlier than most clubs that close at 10pm. I will update as I try their other services. But I would definitely recommend their fitness facility for now. read more

I live in Mammoth Lakes and have been going to Double Eagle since 2001. Their treatments are great, staff is wonderful especially Chris W. at the front desk. He's been there awhile, still smiles and makes conversation easy, remembers your name! Makes a mean pina colada smoothie too. They've changed some treatments here but it's always great. I got an aroma therapy massage by Natasha, awesome as always & Sabrina did a mani/pedi with great hand/feet massages! Thank you guys for a great day off!!! read more

Nice cabin with light housekeeping. Comfortable rooms. Nice balcony/porch with table and chairs. Private BBQs. Stocked pond on the property makes for as close as you can get fishing. Spa staff are very nice. The exercise areas have plenty of equipment. The Locker Rooms and Showers are nice and include a private jacuzzi and steam room. Robes, shower shoes, and much of what you'll need is provided. There is a very large indoor pool that offers "adult only" hours. The restaurant on site is fabulous. The Manager, Robert is there to make sure your meal is just as you want it. He takes his job seriously and is extremely accomodating. If Art is working, make sure you ask to be seated in his section. He's the best there is and not only will make sure you enjoy your meal, but can give you fishing/skiing tips. read more

We loved our stay here. Unfortunately, it was a last minute decision and I could only get one night booked. I look forward to staying again sometime. The guy at reception was unremarkable, seemed as if we were disturbing him, typical of this 20 something generation unfortunately. The grounds are really pretty and the rooms are very spacious. They aren't really anything special, pretty outdated but there's a cozy lodge like feeling to the place that makes it enjoyable and the patio looking onto the small pond is a nice peaceful spot. We really enjoyed the bar, drinks were great made with real fresh squeezed juice, food is a little better than your typical bar food so we are really happy with that and the servers in the bar are great! We had breakfast the next morning and that was mediocre, poor, grumpy service and overpriced. Honestly the hotel is overpriced but that is so common up in the Sierras. People want to be up here all times of the year, of course they do it's one of the most beautiful places on earth! read more

Those who read my reviews know that I usually review the good experiences. The bad ones I try to ignore. But there are a few that have to be told because they caused great discomfort and distress. Family spent a weekend here. They have two types of accommodations: regular rooms and cottages. We stayed in both types. The cottage was enjoyed by the family. It was spacious and had quite a bit going for it, other than the over the top price and the beds, which were not as advertised. The regular room was beyond terrible for what we paid and for what was advertised. First, we paid for a Queen/Queen and got full instead. They showed that they had no regard for the bait-and-switch of paying for one thing and unapologetically getting another. There were 6 lights in the room. 4 were burned out and one never did get replaced. The fan was not working and when it was "repaired" it almost fell on my head. The pillows stunk! A slat on the blinds by the door fell off and was not replaced. Toilet was stopped up with someone else's waste when we arrived. The lights in the bathroom worked sometimes, sometimes not. We felt that we should be compensated, which is standard for a facility that advertises so much and falls short so badly. They were not cooperative and the manager did everything possible to be unavailable. I spoke to others and there were similar complaints from many. In such a beautiful location as June Lake, I really expected at least the most basic of amenities. Never will go back. I do want to commend the spa area because the pool was large and looked clean, the hot tub looked good, the snack bar was nice, and the exercise room was huge. read more
