We were able to check-in early, and our cabin (5) was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and it was stocked with any kitchen item you might need! The grounds are beautiful! The creek that runs through the resort, as well as the little pond were beautiful. We never used the gym or spa, but briefly walked through and it looked very nice! As someone who has fallen in love with June Lake and hopes to one day call this beautiful part of the Eastern Sierra home, it hurts to write this review. This was only my second stay at Double Eagle Resort & Spa, and the difference from my first visit is night and day. What was once a well-kept mountain retreat has clearly declined under current ownership, leaving us with one of the most disappointing and concerning lodging experiences we've had. The property shows serious neglect. Mouse droppings were everywhere outside our room and inside on the carpet too. We literally had to sweep them aside just to get comfortable. Add in prominent water stains on the ceilings, dirty baseboards and floors around the doors, stained towels with yellowish marks, and overall grime, and it crossed into health hazard territory. We booked specifically for the spa amenities. The indoor pool water was a murky green, the hot tub area was slimy and filthy, and both the pool/spa facilities and female sauna were closed with "maintenance" signs that had apparently been there for weeks or months. This is inexcusable at a resort that promotes these as key features with free guest access. Broken window screens also let in swarms of mosquitoes, making the room uncomfortable. We made multiple attempts to resolve these issues visiting the front desk repeatedly, trying to speak with the owner, and giving them time to call back. The response was poor. One employee, Martin at the front desk, seemed more annoyed by our complaints than interested in helping. Other staff seemed polite but stretched thin, which points to bigger problems with management and resources. Double Eagle was a highlight of June Lake. Charging premium rates while delivering filthy conditions, closed amenities, and unresponsive service isn't right. We've documented it all with photos and will be pursuing remedies. If you care about cleanliness, safety, and actually enjoying the spa/pool facilities, look elsewhere. We still love June Lake deeply and will be back to the area but not here until meaningful improvements are made. Strongly not recommended. read more

The location is perfect but the new owner doesn't care about the resort. You go to a spa resort for amenities yet the pool and spa were closed and the staff didn't know when it would be fixed. From my understanding it's been under kept for at least four months. When checking out we noticed the restaurant was closed. This was at 8:30 am online it says opens at 7:30 am on the door it says 8 am. There was rat shit all over the entry way of my and my other guest door ways. The shower was also broken. And stains on the bed. When checking out we wanted to speak to the owner and apparently he doesn't allow the employees to call him for ANY REASON just text. And yet still nothing from him. He'd rather spend the money on himself instead of the upkeep of his family's resort. read more

I grew up coming to Double Eagle Resort & Spa when Connie owned it. It was once one of the most beautiful places in June Lake. It is heartbreaking to see what it has become under the current ownership. Our most recent stay was, without question, the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I will be pursuing reimbursement because this wasn't just disappointing, it was a health hazard. There was mouse droppings EVERYWHERE outside our room. We literally had to walk through them to get to our door, and I ended up sweeping them aside just to get inside. To make matters worse, there were droppings on the carpet inside our room as well. I took photos of everything and videos when I arrived. Keeping certain documentation and video private for future action. Did attach some photos though for my review. Dirty towels and stained bedding also were just gross! The window screens were broken, so we couldn't even leave the room open to cool it off without giant June Lake mosquitoes swarming inside. We specifically booked this resort for the spa amenities, only to find the indoor pool, hot tub, and saunas closed. The area was slimy and filthy. Locals told us these conditions had been an issue for months, and employees even said they didn't expect the facilities to reopen anytime soon. I repeatedly tried to resolve these concerns. I went to the front desk multiple times, waited to speak with the owner, and even gave them two full days to return my call. Nothing. The only employee who left a negative impression was Martin at the front desk, who seemed annoyed that I was upset about the mouse droppings surrounding our room instead of taking the concerns seriously. What makes this even sadder is that I genuinely feel for many of the employees. They were polite and trying their best (except Martin at the front desk), but it's obvious they don't have the resources or support they need. Seeing the condition of the property, and even the condition of some employees' work vehicles, left me feeling like this place has been neglected from the top down. This resort was once the pride of June Lake. Today, it feels like a property that has been allowed to deteriorate while guests continue paying premium prices for an experience that no longer exists. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU EXPECT CLEANLINESS, SAFETY, OR CUSTOMER SERVICE. We made reservations months in advance for my son's wedding and trusted that our accommodations would be ready and suitable for guests. Upon arrival, we were placed in a dog-friendly cabin with two beds. After unloading and preparing for bed, we immediately noticed a strong unpleasant odor and carpet that did not feel clean or appropriate for a guest room. Within the first 45 minutes of being there, my wife was bitten by what appeared to be a spider. She became distressed and wanted to leave immediately. At the same time, the area around the cabin was overwhelmed with unusually large mosquitoes, making it impossible to relax or feel comfortable. The window screens were broken or missing. We reported the situation to the front desk and explained that we had no choice but to leave. Instead of enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime family event, we ended up driving 6 hours back home so my wife could recover. Because of this experience, our entire trip was disrupted. We had to rearrange plans, absorb additional travel time and expenses, and later make another trip just to attend our son's wedding. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of follow-up and accountability. We were told multiple times that a manager would contact us and discuss a resolution. That never happened. No phone call. No concern. No refund. We stayed less than 45 minutes and left because we did not feel the cabin was clean, safe, or acceptable. Yet it cost us $2k with nor refund. I will not stop here and will follow up with and attorney to get my money back. I should have read the reviews of spider webs just like to ones behind the bed. We have been coming to June Lake for years for skiing and the lakes in the summer. The last few years I feel like the service on the restaurant side has declined. I always give places in small towns the benefit of the doubt but this time I thought I would voice my opinion........ We went to breakfast on 7/26 around 10:30am, there was 3 in our party and only 2 tables were occupied. It took 5 minutes to have anyone even greet us to get our drinks, at that time we already knew what we were having, so we ordered all at once. Food came out quickly which was nice. Never through the whole meal did we have anyone come ask how everything was, top off our drinks or ask if we needed anything. WOW I worked in the service industry for years and for a town that makes most their money off tourism I just did not think this was great customer service let alone expected it from a place I have ate at several times (in the bar side) Not sure if the person who took the payment was even our waitress, didn't get an itemized receipt to even see if we were charged correctly or got our discount for being a member. I would completely understand if it was busy and I am always willing to give some grace but this was awful service especially for a Saturday during the "busy" season. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars and not 1 is because we decided to come back for dinner as it is close to where we were staying and didn't have the energy to drive into town. Oh double eagle, double eagle (shaking my head). Started coming here at least 20yrs ago with my grandparents. Back then, this place was an absolute luxury, cream of the crop in the June Lake area. The food was good, the cabins were well taken care of. They were ultra responsive. The last 10 years or so, NOT SO MUCH. Now, they won't answer phones, the food is absolute dog shit, the customer service is zero. They just dont care. It really is sad. Our toilet wouldn't flush, no workable plunger, so that was fun. Couldn't start a fire, no matches were provided, no fire starters, nothing. Cobwebs everywhere, candy wrappers in the bedroom, water soaked wood, broken screen on bedroom window. The list goes on and on! If you're looking for somewhere to stay up here, DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!! Until someone else buys this place and decides to take pride in what was once a beautiful resort, it'll continue to go down the toilet. read more

Our family has a cabin on Silver Lake , close to the Double Eagle Resort. We have not stayed at the resort but have used the facilities and we eat at their restaurant. It's a beautiful location, and lovely grounds. The rooms need some updating. The facilities are nice with a spa, swimming pool, weight room, etc. Great location to Silver Lake Resort which is down the road. They have boat and kayak rentals. Drove from Mammoth last Saturday to eat at the restaurant (skiing Mammoth on Saturdays is way too crowded for our tastes). The hostess was not real friendly. Minimal personality. The server Oscar was very nice. All six orders tasted great. However, a few things were mixed up. Asked for pepper jack cheese. Instead, they put tons of pepper on cheddar cheese. Fries were also reversed between regular and sweet potato. Ordered a bottle of wine with three glasses. We were given 3 glasses of wine vs the bottle. The atmosphere is great! We had the strangest experience eating at the restaurant last night. Arrived around 7pm and it was pretty empty. We were seated in a nice booth. Our server finally came and took our order. We ordered cocktails, an appetizer, and four entrees. Then we waited some time, with just water. Would have been nice to have our cocktails. Finally, the entrees arrived. I asked about the cocktails and she said they were coming. About half way through our entrees, the cocktails arrived. Then, after we finished the main course, the appetizer showed up! We were delighted with our first (won't be our last) time at Double Eagle! The charming old fashioned well maintained resort reached our expectations and met our needs in every way. The classic 2 bedroom cabin with outstanding forest view had plenty of room (sure the toilet was a little low for us and be prepared for stairs to the entrance). The cute little kitchen was just right for a quick meal (and when we didn't feel like making dinner one eve we gladly picked up our delicious dinner from their restaurant). We were delighted with our morning visit by local deer & sitting out on the deck was the perfect place to relax. Highly recommend it! We stayed for 2 nights and the first night there was a power outage from 2 PM to Midnight. There was no accommodation from staff during this outage. I understand there was a winter storm and it was out of their control but when we asked for more blankets from the front desk staff the young man was too pre occupied by his guests/friends that were hanging out with him due to the power outage. He said they were unable to give us anymore blankets however once we complained it was for our 11 month old baby he then proceeded to get up, get the lantern, and go outside in the snow to the other building to get what we needed. No pack and play was provided as requested and also no assistance with getting lotion for our room. The cabin itself was fine, the corners were dusty and fire place was not working but otherwise the bed was clean. The toilet was a little slow to flush and the power outage made it hard to really enjoy anything the first night. The value of our money for what we received was definitely lacking. The staff at the spa/fitness center were great and accommodating but the front desk staff could use some work for sure. The restaurant was always closed in the morning with no known time of when it would open whenever we asked. I'd say skip this part of the town and book elsewhere. read more

Three day stay. They took the cabin we had reserved and put us in studio like room. The air conditioner was not working correctly. Could not close vent because it was broke. Ordered extra pillows and they never came. Had to use our cell phone to call because the phone wasn't working. no microwave. fridge that freezes everything. The sink looks like a play sink. No plates, 1coffee cup, 1 drinking cup. Now the restaurant is a joke. the food took over an hour to get. The staff is run by incompetents. Rude and bring you whatever sides they want not the sides ordered. The fries are reheated and chewy. the fountain drinks are not properly carbonated. We were thinking of leaving early but we already paid and was not going to give our money back. The cabins are the best stay here. For food it's best to drive to someplace else. I don't think they ever gave housekeeping the message for the pillows either. Its a crap stay so far. We will never book here again. read more

My family stopped here for the night on our way to Lake Tahoe. This place was an absolute gem! Gorgeous scenery nestled up against the mountain. The entire resort was quiet and calm. The room was large, jacuzzi tub, fridge, sink with coffee pot, a patio overlooking their cute pond that you can fish in. The pool was indoors, the staff who worked in the Spa/pool area were so hospitable. The restaurant on sight was really good. There was a gorgeous scenic walk from our room to the restaurant. The food was decently priced, portions were good and the food was flavorful. We had the salmon, ribeye, burger and tomato soup with grilled cheese. Who owns this place now and how are they not reading the reviews. It was the worst experience we've ever had. Booked a cabin, got a room. No explanation. Drove up to get out of the heat. Air conditioning was broken. Cooler outside than inside, but you couldn't go out at dusk because of the Inundation of bugs. Carpets were filthy. Bathroom was filthy with hair on towels. Restaurant was next level horrible. Food was disgusting. Waited 30 minutes for service. Total time in restaurant 1 1/2 hours and not because we wanted to stay. That's how long it took. And there wasn't any other people in the restaurant. Asked for A1 sauce, server said they didn't have it and there was a bottle behind her! We had to leave early as we were exhausted from the horrible bed. We spent a lot of money to be miserable. They should just close the restaurant. All they're doing at this point is taking money and then fighting with customers who expect the bare minimum. 3rd time staying here and it's gotten so bad, we'll never go back. I get staffing in a remote area and the lack of it. Staff, I assume, are living on the property in trade for services being provided. Not a great situation when the staff do whatever and whenever they want. I was horrified to see Ford Explorer filled with garbage like a hoarder. That was housekeeping! If anyone thinks this review is harsh, I'm holding back! It was so bad, it's indescribable. Unless you want to pay a lot of money to "camp" do not stay here. read more

My friend and I came for the spa. We drove from Mammoth. The hosts at the front were friendly. We got champagne and took that to the locker room. Went to the steam room and jacuzzi. Both had 50 minute Swedish massages and took showers. There's a cute area for girls to blow dry their hair and do their makeup. They supply all you need, even razors, body scrubs and shaving cream. They supply blow dryers, curling irons, hair spray, deoderant and mouth wash. You get a key for the locker room and there's complimentary tea and coffee. It was a lovely afternoon. You also get access to the gym, a heated pool and a relaxing waiting room. read more

Don't stay here, but use the spa, which is great! We stayed here about 6 yrs ago and it was wonderful, and we expected it to be the same if not better this time. Not So! First of all, you have to ask for housekeeping, it is not automatic. Housekeeping was good when we figured out you had to request it. Second, you have to wash any glassware used in the room, provided by the resort, or they charge you for it. Third, you have to ASK if the unit you are staying in is pet friendly, they do not disclose this to you At booking the unit. We stayed in a unit where we were NOT told it was a pet unit and there were guests next door with two dogs that barked incessantly. The management did not address it, only a message for the dog owners, who did not address the issue. what about the rights of people expecting to experience a quiet and restful stay in a beautiful setrying? We have avoided eating at the Double Eagle Restaurant for the last few years ( maybe a decade) slow service, cold ribs and it was over priced. But recently went back because we heard they had a new chef and staff. The manager was friendly and seated patrons and served water. He was dressed in a sport jacket and had a sincere smile while he worked. The food is reasonably priced, good and fresh. I enjoyed the Coyote pasta dish. The server was prompt and accurate. Super disappointing. I scheduled 2 massages over the phone, a week ahead of time For 1/2/2025. One was a Christmas present. I was told over the phone, ok, you're all set, after giving my credit card information. Not told to expect email confirmation. While driving to Double Eagle Resort from Mammoth, I called to see if it was possible to get an earlier massage time, only to find out the massages were never scheduled. The manager was quite rude, stating if I'd been coming to their spa for 20 years, I should have known that if I didn't receive a confirmation email, I wasn't confirmed, acting as though the mistake was my fault. We LOVE the Eagle's Landing restaurant. It's a hidden gem and our new favourite restaurant. The rustic dining room and saloon are beautiful, the food is delicious and very reasonably priced, and the service is great. Our server's name was Sage and she was so friendly and helpful it really made our evening. If this wasn't so hidden away I expect it would be packed full every night! This review is for the Spa at the Double Eagle Resort and Spa. Yesterday I had a Vichy scrub and then a massage. I walked into the spa and it was clean and spotless and very inviting. I then had my Vichy with Natasha. It was a wonderful scrub. Then I went in for my massage also with Natasha. Wow! All I can say is Wow! I have been getting massages for a very long time and a member of Burke Williams Spa and I have NEVER had a better massage then the one that Natasha gave me. She hit pressure points that were so good and she has very strong hands. Then they have this chair that when you turn over to your back, the chair moves to a position that makes your back feel amazing. Usually I lay flat on my back with a little roll under my knees, but this bed formed into a chair like recliner and there was no pressure on my back. I highly recommend this spa and you have to ask for Natasha! She is the best! Seriously the best! read more

The property is beautiful unfortunately, the lodging has gone downhill compared to years ago. The rooms are in need of major updating and maintenance. We stayed in the "luxury resort room". The floors were so squeaky loud that it was bothersome. The bathroom floors had obvious water damage. We were on the 1st floor. You could definitely hear people above us walking around. It sounded like they had squeaky floors as well. The king bed we had was waaaay too springy, we always woke up when the other person moved just an arm or so. No one slept well. The carpets were obviously not vacuumed as we found pieces of paper behind the chair. The ceiling fan had a thick dust on it. For what the price is per room, it's not worth it. There are other cabins in the area better than this. Sad to say, this would be our last visit to this resort. read more

We stayed at this resort on the week-end of September 30, 2023. The grounds are beautiful and the cabins are clean, but in dire need of updating. What prompts this review are the rules. If you do not wash your own used dishes you are charged $35/00. The prize winner is they ask you to strip the linens of your bed. Unacceptable under any circumstances, but when you are paying $400.00/night it is worse. The views were tremendous and the amenities (spa, pool, etc.) were quite nice. Unless you like doing housework I would not recommend this place. read more
