Mouse poop we had to sweep to get into our room.

I grew up coming to Double Eagle Resort & Spa when Connie owned it. It was once one of the most beautiful places in June Lake. It is heartbreaking to see what it has become under the current ownership. Our most recent stay was, without question, the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I will be pursuing reimbursement because this wasn't just disappointing, it was a health hazard. There was mouse droppings EVERYWHERE outside our room. We literally had to walk through them to get to our door, and I ended up sweeping them aside just to get inside. To make matters worse, there were droppings on the carpet inside our room as well. I took photos of everything and videos when I arrived. Keeping certain documentation and video private for future action. Did attach some photos though for my review. Dirty towels and stained bedding also were just gross! The window screens were broken, so we couldn't even leave the room open to cool it off without giant June Lake mosquitoes swarming inside. We specifically booked this resort for the spa amenities, only to find the indoor pool, hot tub, and saunas closed. The area was slimy and filthy. Locals told us these conditions had been an issue for months, and employees even said they didn't expect the facilities to reopen anytime soon. I repeatedly tried to resolve these concerns. I went to the front desk multiple times, waited to speak with the owner, and even gave them two full days to return my call. Nothing. The only employee who left a negative impression was Martin at the front desk, who seemed annoyed that I was upset about the mouse droppings surrounding our room instead of taking the concerns seriously. What makes this even sadder is that I genuinely feel for many of the employees. They were polite and trying their best (except Martin at the front desk), but it's obvious they don't have the resources or support they need. Seeing the condition of the property, and even the condition of some employees' work vehicles, left me feeling like this place has been neglected from the top down. This resort was once the pride of June Lake. Today, it feels like a property that has been allowed to deteriorate while guests continue paying premium prices for an experience that no longer exists. Read the recent reviews. Look at the photos. If cleanliness, safety, and functioning amenities matter to you, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

We have been coming to June Lake for years for skiing and the lakes in the summer. The last few years I feel like the service on the restaurant side has declined. I always give places in small towns the benefit of the doubt but this time I thought I would voice my opinion........ We went to breakfast on 7/26 around 10:30am, there was 3 in our party and only 2 tables were occupied. It took 5 minutes to have anyone even greet us to get our drinks, at that time we already knew what we were having, so we ordered all at once. Food came out quickly which was nice. Never through the whole meal did we have anyone come ask how everything was, top off our drinks or ask if we needed anything. WOW I worked in the service industry for years and for a town that makes most their money off tourism I just did not think this was great customer service let alone expected it from a place I have ate at several times (in the bar side) Not sure if the person who took the payment was even our waitress, didn't get an itemized receipt to even see if we were charged correctly or got our discount for being a member. I would completely understand if it was busy and I am always willing to give some grace but this was awful service especially for a Saturday during the "busy" season. The only reason I am giving it 2 stars and not 1 is because we decided to come back for dinner as it is close to where we were staying and didn't have the energy to drive into town. Rob was the bartender and with all 4 tables occupied we sat at the bar and were greeted almost immediately and very well taken care of. Rob was extremely attentive and great at his job. I will probably only be back to the bar area as I have never had an issue with customer service on that side

Our family has a cabin on Silver Lake , close to the Double Eagle Resort. We have not stayed at the resort but have used the facilities and we eat at their restaurant. It's a beautiful location, and lovely grounds. The rooms need some updating. The facilities are nice with a spa, swimming pool, weight room, etc. Great location to Silver Lake Resort which is down the road. They have boat and kayak rentals. Cute store and great food.

Charming cozy cabin - the perfect place to get away and enjoy my favorite things

We were delighted with our first (won't be our last) time at Double Eagle! The charming old fashioned well maintained resort reached our expectations and met our needs in every way. The classic 2 bedroom cabin with outstanding forest view had plenty of room (sure the toilet was a little low for us and be prepared for stairs to the entrance). The cute little kitchen was just right for a quick meal (and when we didn't feel like making dinner one eve we gladly picked up our delicious dinner from their restaurant). We were delighted with our morning visit by local deer & sitting out on the deck was the perfect place to relax. Highly recommend it! Don't let negative reviews steer you away - this is not the Ritz but it's certainly a wonderful cabin experience. ;-)

We have laundry facilities on site but they are for resort operations. There is a laundromat down the street about one mile at Fern Creek. Hope this helps.

The cabin is a nice size for a couple, or maybe a small family, but to sleep 10?, I think it would be cramped. The fridge is a very small dorm room sized one. We could only get the front burners on the electric stove to work, and we didn't try the oven. The heater in the bathroom does not stay on,which is not great, when you go to take a shower and it's a VERY cold morning. One of the provided towels seemed to have some hard, blue stuff stuck to it. The toilet is...tilted. This is a little disconcerting if you have to get up to pee during the night and almost fall off of it! The bed in the downstairs bedroom is soft. VERY soft....and sinks into the middle. My husband and I basically kept rolling into each other all night and had to fight for space. The futon in the living room did not make for a very comfortable couch at all, and would take a SOUND sleeper to be able to sleep on it. The heater in the living room area seems to work well, and we didn't need the one in the bedroom as it seems to stay pretty warm if you keep the door closed. We were unable to use the wood burning stove as they only provide wood during the winter months, and we didn't feel like buying any. It would be great if we could have used it though. It got down into the low 40's to high 30's at night. The whole place needs updating as it looks like it came straight out of the 50's, but not in a cool, kitchy way. The railing on the deck...we get that nobody is suppose to climb on it,but when we even touched it, the entire railing wobbled Also, the screen on one of the doors was off the track, and no matter how many times we fixed it, it was just difficult to use. The tiny TV, had a sound restrictor on it, or something, as it was very quiet and sometimes impossible to hear. The remote did not work to turn it off or on. Now, the pros. The view of the mountains, out the back is beautiful. The deck, provided with some VERY old, plastic chairs and one lounger, was ok. Would have been nice to have a little table as well, so we had a secure place to put our coffee cups, during breakfast in the morning. The kitchen, though dated, is well stocked with dishes, utensils, cookware and cleaning supplies. There are barbeques, but no shade or places to eat or sit while bbqing. There IS WiFi, and the code was provided right in the cabin. It worked pretty well the entire time. The bathtub was large enough for me to stretch out in and soak in. There is a microwave, coffee maker and toaster also provided. The place was clean, but very dated. In summary, this is a housekeeping cabin. If you are looking for maid service, room service or other hotel resort type ammenities, this is NOT the place for you. This is more basic. We will consider returning IF some things, such as the bed, stairs and railings are fixed.

Instead, when we arrived, we got a 10 minute lecture about how there is no maid service, we can't use the wood burning stove, there's no paper towels for the kitchen (at least there's East German surplus toilet paper on hand), there's a drought in California, leave your car unlocked because of bears (what?), keep the curtains closed basically always, sweep before you leave, and on and on and on. Oh, and the entry steps and landing (which is 6 feet up) - I had to pray they wouldn't crumble beneath me because the wood is so rotten - who inspects these places? Helen Keller at night? I was actually nervous every time I would enter and exit the place - what a relaxing resort-style vacation this turned out to be. Full kitchen? Look closely at the picture on the website - there is a tiny dorm-sized refrigerator that didn't freeze water after three days of it sitting in the freezer section - and that's after I spent two hours of my vacation defrosting it. There's hardly any room for one person in the kitchen, and if someone wants something, it's a total hassle to get it. And the luxurious bed - my wife would blink and the mattress bounced so much I nearly flew out of the bed. Add to that the 1960's blanket made of who knows how much polyester and you have resort-level romance in the making. Not to mention the boot-camp instructions on the wall which read, "on your last day don't strip your bed" - what? So they can see if the sheets really need to be changed or just straightened out for the next guest? Ewwww. The picture shows a comfortable looking couch, but ours was an unyielding uncomfortable futon covered with another nasty old blanket. I couldn't get comfortable while watching the 17 inch old-fashioned TV. Also, no Wi-Fi - lemme check. Yup. It's 2014. Need I say more. The entire "resort" is in disrepair and shabby. Weed growth between buildings. Parking area nothing but dirt and stones (not gravel). Solitary BBQ sitting across parking area with no seating or picnic table or anything. I like how Wikipedia puts it: "In North American English, the term "resort" is now also used for a self-contained commercial establishment which attempts to provide for most of a vacationer's wants while remaining on the premises, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping. The term may be used to identify a hotel property that provides an array of amenities and typically includes entertainment and recreational activities". Now, take the opposite of Wiki's definition and you have The Four Season's June Lake.

We were surprised how quickly the food came out, and under 10 minutes. The coffee was pretty good for diner coffee - not too strong or bitter. The watermelon was nice, the sausage was good, but we preferred the bacon, the eggs were cooked nicely, and the buttermilk pancakes were very good. When we were in route, we discovered the entire town of June Lake was without power and the motel never notified me. I only learned about the outage through social media, not from the motel staff. This wasn't a minor issue. I had my children and my dog with me, and I rely on an electrical medical device at night, so being without power was not an option. A simple call or email would have allowed me to make other plans before driving all the way there. Instead, I had to scramble to find last‑minute accommodations and ended up having to book another room in Mammoth, where there was power. This cost me extra money, extra stress, and completely derailed our trip. What made the situation even more frustrating is that the motel offered nothing no partial refund, no options, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or safety concerns. They easily could have rented the room to younger guests or anyone willing to stay without power, but instead the responsibility fell entirely on me. I understand that they can't control a town‑wide power outage. But they can control communication and how they treat their guests. Unfortunately, that's where they fell short. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend June Lake Motel unless they significantly improve guest communication and show more responsibility during situations like this.

The rooms are actually very big and comfortable. We had a downstairs room, off in the corner, with windows and a large living space and kitchen area. We couldn't get over how spacious the bedroom was and how comfortable it was for two people. The bed was super soft. Bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels. Soft towels too! A nice little couch and a three person kitchen table. Truly a large room great for when you'll be staying a few days. It was all of the little touches that made this room great as well. The fan worked and didn't make any noise. The heater worked great. The kitchen was equipped with a large fridge, sink, microwave, Toaster, and four burner stove. It was nice that they had cups, plates, bowls, and silverware. Honestly, anything you would need to eat in. We ended up eating out pretty much every meal because we wanted to enjoy trying the local businesses, but should I ever come back I would definitely pack enough to be able to cook here because it was a great set up. Tyler made check in and check out a breeze. He was nice and didn't give us much hassle when we needed to extend our check out by 30 minutes. He was very friendly from the get and insured we had everything we needed. We appreciated his kind demeanor as we checked in after hours of traveling. The location is five stars itself because you're dead in the center of June Lake downtown with restaurants on each side of you and right behind this motel is the very popular June brewing company. The location was walkable to everything we needed. We also appreciated that they had about a 10 car parking lot. When parking spots fill up, you are welcome to park on the street no issues. We felt that the rooms were pretty soundproof from outside activity but when you are on the bottom floor, we were at the mercy of the people above us. Unfortunately, the people above us were pretty loud, but that's just the way the dicerolls sometimes. I'm sure had we went to the motel staff they maybe would've helped but it just seemed Like too much to ask because really guests should be more courteous that we don't have to tell on them or confront them. The only real negative about being on the bottom floor, but I do prefer the bottom floor as it is easy in and out/not having to carry your bags up the icy stairs etc. The good news is this downtown area is pretty quiet and most of the businesses are closed by 8/9 PM so even if there are loud people, everyone seems to be in their rooms and winding down earlier than if you were in a big city so it was still pretty comfortable and reasonable overall. I would definitely recommend this motel when staying in June Lake, and should I come back up here soon this would definitely be my #1 choice.
