For a "shoulder season" getaway, you really ought to put Juniper Springs Resort on your list! I mean, if you're a skiier, you probably already know about it, but in the off season (before the snows), you can get a room for a low rate, and still have the whole of Mammoth Lakes at your doorstep to explore! Tons of shops, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, etc. await! For amenities, Juniper Springs Resort boasts a pool, an exercise room, a jacuzzi, and beautiful lounging areas. The rooms all have small balconies where you can get some fresh air and admire the scenery. And (we learned mid-trip) the resort is one of four regular stops for the local free shuttle/trolley that comes by every 30 minutes or so and is free to use. On top of that, the resort is adjacent to one of Mammoth Lakes' many ski lifts, so at least some of the runs are available literally right at your doorstep. The room we rented was comfortable and spacious, with a full kitchen, nice comfy living room with gas fireplace, and a separate bedroom, and there were TVs in both rooms. Parking, by the way, is underground, which is assuredly a huge perk during the winter snows. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and would definitely consider staying there again. Couple of things they could have done better: 1. Guests should be made aware at check-in of the availability of the shuttle/trolley. My sweetheart was stuck at the hotel for a day until we figured this out for ourselves, as even when asked about Uber/Lyft, the front desk never mentioned the shuttle. 2. The ice machine on the 4th floor was perpetually empty. Not sure if it was just being regularly raided by other guests, or if it was in need of service. 3. A blender we attempted to use (provided as one of the in-room amenities) leaked its contents out through the bottom seal like a seive. When I disassembled it to check the gasket, I found black mold. The front desk was unable to help, but offered to remove it for us. 4. The televisions in the room were not "smart" in the sense that we could not "cast" to them from our phones. We do this a lot, so it's not a user error thing. Just beware you will be limited to whatever viewing options the TV/cable service provides. PRO TIP 1: Hinging off of #3 above, the rooms in the resort are potentially privately owned. Apparently ours was, and was rented out as a sort of Air-BnB. This was the reason the hotel couldn't help with the blender, as it is not an item the resort provides, but was provided by the owner. PRO TIP 2: BEWARE THE ELEVATOR DOORS! They close VERY quickly after opening, and we were struck by them several times. Open the door, stick your hand in, and once everyone has gone in or out, then remove your hand. I'll end with a funny/silly observation. In the elevators was posted a list of the hotel regulations, among which were the parking requirements. The advisement ended with a warning that vehicles parked inappropriately, and not corrected within 24 hours, would have a "boot" affixed to their vehicle. In a nutshell, if your vehicle is parked in such a way that it is causing a problem, their "fix" will be to make that situation permanent. Totally makes sense. read more

From the 1st day, the ambience of the hotel, the pool and the service was second to none. Georgia ( i think her name) did an outstanding job at the front desk. Very hospitable. Updated review. Same as last time five stars. My husband and I arrived here on Monday and we are staying until Friday; a four night stay. The staff is so nice and accommodating. The first room we checked into, I wasn't feeling it. All the furniture was leather. No offense to leather furniture but for me, it kind of hurts my back and does not feel comfortable; but some people may love it. Also, leather can burn the skin when it is hot. Much to my embarrassment, my husband knew I wasn't liking the room so, he went downstairs to request a different room. A very nice worker named Kevin told my husband that switching rooms would not be a problem at all and he showed us two options to choose from on the third floor. I loved both rooms and I felt happier when we switched our room. For me, half the fun of your vacation is enjoying your stay and an undesirable hotel room can dampen your spirits. Kevin went up and beyond to accommodate us; I apologized to him for switching rooms and he was so beyond nice and understanding about it. Aside from that, Juniper Springs offers an awesome pool area, housekeeping, a fire pit outside and bbq area too and every room offers a kitchenette as well. Every room is spacious and roomy and the grounds too oh my gosh are so gorgeous. Also, the hotel is centrally located so you always have the best views of Mammoth as well which is such a treat. My husband and I stayed here over three nights. We had the nicest guy greet us at check-in. He answered all of our questions with a smile on his face and he also gave us some good restaurant and grocery recommendations. Our room was on the 5th floor of the main building facing east. It was nice to have a one-bedroom condo where we could cook our own food and have use of the warm swimming pool and hot tubs. There was some wear and tear with all of the cabinetry and the lamp by one side of the bed had a very crooked bulb base, but overall the condo was in good condition. I liked that you could open the door to the balcony and not worry about bugs because there was a screen. But my only issue is that our king-sized bed and pillows were not very comfortable. They were too hard for our liking so we didn't get the rest we had hoped for. It was a good base to go hiking on our favorite trails, like Devils Postpile and Rainbow Falls. I would go back to Juniper Springs Resort again -- but would bring my own pillows next time. read more

Such a cool ski in ski out experience! We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2 bath townhome condo at Juniper Springs and I was impressed with the experience. We arrived at the resort a couple hours earlier than their 4pm check in, and they ended up being able to get us in early. We did get a bit lost trying to find our place (as it was not in the main building and ended up being quite a hike all the way to their furthest properties). It could be helpful if there was a cart to take us up the hill (as we were lugging all our bags and gear as well and didn't have a car). However, once we found our condo and settled in, it was smooth sailing. The place was clean and comfortable. One of the bedrooms had an en-suite bath. We also had a small living room and full kitchen. The kitchen was stocked with cookware, cutlery, etc. Also things like paper towel, a new sponge, mini dish soap, and dishwasher detergent. Large fridge. The coolest part was that our living room windows looked out directly to the Eagle ski lift/run, which is just a short walk away. Our first morning, we saw a fox run by our window. Front desk staff is super friendly. At one point during the first night of our stay, we got a little lost trying to navigate the shuttles. (We wanted to get groceries in town and didn't realize the daytime shuttles ended at 5:30pm.) I called the front desk for some help and they walked me through step by step in downloading an app (MAWS Hotel Shuttle) that essentially was like calling an Uber/Lyft but free! Our driver also dropped us off directly in front of our door and saved us the small trek from the main building with all our heavy groceries. Door code for entry was convenient. We had WiFi and a TV. Daily housekeeping. There's a hot tub right outside our door. (Only minor note is that the sound really carries into one of the bedrooms from folks chatting in the hot tub, even when not talking loudly.) read more

Stayed here for a week in the newer Sunstone building - which is behind the main building and has one hot tub and pool instead of 3 hot tubs and pool. The pools are not very big - 6 strokes each way if swimming laps. We had a two bedroom condo with one king in one and two twins in the other and kitchen/dining/living room with gas fireplace. The twin beds are very small and soft - ok for kids but not so much for adults. If you want to be close to the bus stop you should choose the main building as there is a bit of walk from Sunstone. And if you want quiet best to not have rooms facing the hot tubs and pools. The public seating space of the Sunstone is also much more spacious and quiet. Both the village and town center are a free bus ride away, the village being closer. Hotel also has a shuttle on demand but the only driver is not there everyday and there are hardly any taxis or Ubers available. Best thing about this place is it's genuinely ski in/out (just walk out of the ski locker room and ski down a short way to the Eagle Express lift). read more

We booked at the last minute and wished we did a little more research. This place is not close to any restaurants and does not have one onsite. There is a small gift shop/coffee shop that was supposed to open at 7:00am but it was not and I was told it probably would not open today. The resort is at 84% capacity and today is Saturday morning so I am not sure what they are waiting for? The rooms need updating and the carpets were pretty dirty. There was a shuttle that would bring you into the village or town that ran from 5pm-11pm and the driver Keith was very nice. Check-in was easy and the staff very nice. read more

Got a 1-bdrm unit in main building during off-season (Aug) for 3 nights. I loved it. Very cute, very clean, decent view (looking at other balconies, but could also see ski lift and top of MM, and a planted area below us). The king bed was my heaven; so soft it was like a cloud. But my husband ended up sleeping on the pull-out couch on our last night because it was too soft for him. Negatives were minor: the shower curtain stunk (as many do), lumpy pull-out, TV was small and we couldn't log into anything like Netflix or Hulu so had to watch regular TV with ads. Kitchen had everything we needed. We were lucky to have mild weather as there is no a/c. Our balcony had a small table to eat at and 2 chairs (perfect for us, as we ate out there several times), but I noticed many of them didn't have the same. The laundry room was kind of expensive (expected), but I had to add $ to the dryers about 5 times each because the clothes took so long to dry. Pool was nice and quiet on Wed night; then Thurs. it was noisy and crowded. People at front desk were friendly. Overall, an excellent experience. read more

Great place to stay and have a good weekend, right next to the chair lift is a major plus, I would say our first room was very lackluster/BAD but then we requested a room change (due to a really CRAP pullout bed that was for a 4 person room & our fridge was super loud making noises all throughout the night), and they upgraded us free of charge to a side/corner suit that was able to fit more people, and this room was a 10x better although slight issues would be that there window latches were broken, the wind started picking up and blew one of our windows right open. other than that this place was great, the pool and hottub were open nice and late. I have stayed here twice, one in the regular hotel and once in a ski in ski out condo. Both were fantastic. I also had an amazing interaction with one of the employees named Lannie. She was fantastic and incredibly helpful! As for a brief review; the hotel can feel dated an in need of some upgrades, but over all it served me well during my stay. One thing that agitated me was the inability to bring snowboards or bikes into our room. I understand why as this would cause excess damage to the floors especially in snow season, but I would prefer doing this for for security reasons. Besides that the hotel is a solid 4 stars, but the location next to the ski lift is the huge benefit along with the ability to get lift tickets/passes on site which makes it a 5 for me. However, my experience with the ski in/out condo's they manage was 5 stars all the way. You can't beat the location and the condo was much better than staying in the hotel, and I will 100% book them again. We had a 3 bedroom and it was incredibly comfortable and we could bring our snowboards inside :) Overall the resort's main selling point is location, and IMO, worth the price. read more

The place is fine. Service is good. I'm bumping them down from 4 to 3 stars because it is dated and shabby. The carpet is worn. There are chips in the veneer of the dining room table. The dishwasher is so loud we only ran it while we were out for the day. The burners on the old-school electric stove weren't plugged in. The armoire is broken. The TV only has linear cable (no streaming). Had the cost been lower, none of this would have mattered. For $500+ for two nights (during the off-season), I expected better. read more

Might be a bit on the pricey side for some, but for us we appreciate a true ski in/ski out place. The Eagle Lodge lift walking distance from the resort -- What more can you ask for?! Literally the closest, easiest way to get on the mountain. We also find that given how popular the main lodge and canyon lodge are, eagle lodge tends to be less busy at times. Love the amenities- locker on lobby floor for boards and skis, gym, heated (did I say heated?) pool and jacuzzis, and our personal fave- a gated secured heated garage. They also have a small coffee shop/convenience store open mornings that sell limited Mammoth clothing and souvenirs. The accommodates itself are generally very similar, but tend to be on the more outdated side. But nothing to complain about given the location. We typically stay in a two bedroom and use the kitchen to cook. read more

Beautiful resort lodge. Our unit was towards the front on the 4th floor. It was clean, fresh and equipped with everything we needed to enjoy our 3 night weekend (Sat-Mon). It snowed 2/3 nights. It was postcard perfect. Hubby and I had the fireplace going the entire time. It definitely was cold enough to use. Romantic, rustic, cozy, sweet vibes all the way. No kids or bring the whole family. Leave the furry four-legged ones at home, they're not allowed. Gym and pool amenities, but it was too cold to swim and who actually exercises on a getaway? They had a heated garage which was appreciated because coming from SD I had on flip-flops, of course. The staff were friendly and were quick to respond to requests. Minus 1 star because someone needs to do regular checks and maintenence on the furniture and appliances. Two of the dining room chairs were rickety and the oven handle was dangerously loose. We booked our trip to Juniper Springs for four nights on Mammoth Mountain.com getting the fourth night for free. I was hesitant given the reviews, so I called the hotel and spoke to the front desk. They assured me the room that I was placed in and I would be very happy with. And I have to say this was a wonderful weekend. The staff was very polite when we checked in. They gave detailed directions to our one bedroom and parking. The parking was great in that we were underground and out of the snow. Our room was a one bedroom condo that was clean and we enjoyed our stay. Staff was polite. We never got down to the pool or the Jacuzzi so I can't help you out there. All in all we will be back. A tip would be to call the front desk and assure that you're in a good room and that they are individually owned and will vary. And my last tip is to download Mammoth transit app. This way you can take the yellow line into the village and the red line to the main Lodge. It's an awesome way to get around and the pick ups and drop offs are right in front of the hotel pretty much at Eagle next door. read more

Every place on mountain is cashless except their vending machines including the one in Kai dry room for soap and nit a single change machine. Had my third stay here but just needed one night from Wednesday to Thursday since I came in a day earlier than our group did for the Airbnb. I drove in late with some hiccups but I had a warm welcome in past midnight and also a very responsive and warm welcome come the morning by the manager Lannie who accommodated all of my needs for the day. This will be my go to default stay whenever I come to Mammoth moving forward as it checks all of my boxes and I had zero issues all 3 visits so far and whenever I needed anything or encountered minor inconveniences Lannie was able to resolve them for me very quickly. Next level kindness! My daughter had a bad cold during our stay and asked me for green apples. I went downstairs to the coffee shop / store in the lobby but they didn't have fresh fruit. Lannie from the front desk surprised us later with green apples she had purchased from a grocery store down the street as well as a get well card. Views are amazing, right next to chair lift, and all the other amenities but the level of care and guest service is just above and beyond. Room 305 smelled of moldy or musty. The coffee machine was broken, the bed was worn out. Not all the lights work. Also they took money out of my security deposit without explanation and when I called they said they would refund it but I did not receive anything so they lied! Stay somewhere else. read more

First time visiting and I can tell we will be back. We had the best experience to date at juniper springs. The two (manager and front desk attendant) were so helpful and welcoming. The room was perfectly clean, I could not have asked for a better resort to stay at to celebrate my husband's bday. Also the manager lanie I believe was her name brought my husband a nice card and wine bottle to celebrate, I have only had this treatment at Disney resorts. Great location: Very short Walking distance to eagle express chair lift, eagle lodge and eagle rentals. Public transit stops right in front of hotel and can take you anywhere important. Hotel shuttle called MAWS can take you anywhere you ask and pick you up for free! I just tip them. room: I got the 1 bedroom with pull out sofa with full kitche and balcony. Fantastic, and relatively updated. I cooked breakfast easily for a fam of four. Hotel amenities: Heated pool and hot jacuzzi great. Storage lockers for your skis and boards secure with code and can fit about 3 boards and 3 skis in each locker , each locker specified per room . Lockers are on the first floor. Gym small but useful. Ski and board rentals are in house too but DO NOT use them. Go somewhere else please. It took one lonely employee 1 hour and 45 min to help us out with our gear reservation . Only 7 ppl were ahead of us. Parking: Lotsa parking avail. Big trucks and suvs have special oversized parking. Electric vehicle - 4 tesla destination chargers. 1 non-tesla j1772 charger. If you go here with an electric vehicle buy the Lectron tesla to j1772 adapter so that you have options when the non-tesla J1772 charger is busy with another car. Trust me - the Lectron adapter works well giving you about 35 miles per hour. Snow was good this week and the constant snow storms didn't stop us from having fun even though they had to shut down a lotta lifts sometimes. It was expensive about $850/night. But it's high season. And you're paying for a nice room and a short walk to the lift. This is better than Westin Monache in my opinion. Better kitchen and closer to lift. I would stay here again, but get my rentals elsewhere. read more

Built like a standard timeshare unit layout I can see that this was converted to hotel. Base of Eagle express next door I can see why many like to go ski and mammoth and come back. During the fire there was no room circulation as the dust outside was unhealthy and thus the temperature inside was stifling at 80. Even with the heater turned off. The front desk lady with the glasses felt compelled to phone my room for 5 minutes straight while I was on a zoom call even after I'd already told other very nice staff I'd be down to update my stay. Zero apology when i asked about it. The next day I requested and received a 1/2 hour late checkout, but same anxious desk lady felt compelled to phone me at 11;23 to inform me it was 23 minutes past check out. NOBODY likes to be badgered especially after I'd already cleared it with staff. This hotel has nice property and generally nice rooms,, the rest of staff was nice, but the lobby is sterile and no mountain feel at all, no pub or cafe or any apres ski at all. Good location, but damn, not hospitable! It's called the hospitality industry for a reason. read more

We stay here every ski season 2-3 times. We love the ski in ski out. Never once has anyone at the front desk welcomed us back. The rooms need to be updated. Everything is worn and showing age. No usb connectors. TVs are so old, remotes never work properly. There is no food on the premises except for a small cafe that sets their own hours whenever they feel like working. We came down at 6:50 and were told they are open until 8. However, they decided to close and would not serve us. There are few ski in ski out accommodations so we put up with the downside. read more

We visited on our roadtrip for the last night to get out of the trailer for a change in 2 weeks, but the hotel wasn't ideal. First of all our place didn't have AC. I guess there were a lot of fans but still it messed up everyone sleep. There was even an alarm for 5:58 am set which woke everyone up and the day ahead wasn't going to be good. Then they gave us a 70$ hidden fee for cutty Wi-fi and a pool that wasn't heated. when we asked the front desk, they said we couldn't go into the other pool. the only thing that was heated was the jacuzzi which was small. Lastly the front desk manager was saying over and over "don't park in overflow, park in Sunstone" what was very annoying we got scammed by this place. read more

Stayed here half a dozen times. They have a lot of new rules now that I don't recall them having before. And-- if you don't comply with the rules they fine you. For example, if you forget to close the curtains when you check out $25. If you forget to return the plastic key card $75. If you forget to bring all the trash in the unit to the dumpster outside $50. I have attached a shot of the dozen or so rules and their corresponding fines. Imagine checking out with two small children, extra ski gear and you have to coordinate a trash run-- after paying $800 per night. When we arrived the hotel had lost power so we couldn't park in the garage. In the morning they booted our car ($100 fine). The front desk insisted we pay it until a manager got involved who was cool and let it go. The rooms are generally nice and clean. Most staff are hospitable. And for some of the season the Eagle Express lift is outside your door. read more

Update: on our final night, we noticed the ceiling in one of our bathrooms was leaking water with BLACK MOLD growing everywhere. I was unfortunately exposed to it and have been experiencing the respiratory effects of it. Called front desk to request for someone from maintenance and they rudely dismissed us saying there's no one so wait for tomorrow morning! This is a serious health hazard and yet management treated us like criminals with some of the most dehumanizing behavior whenever we lodged a complaint. Was literally told "it's not our problem. If you don't like it, you can leave". Absolutely disgusting customer service in what should be a world-class destination for tourists. Highly unprofessional management and staff. Amenities listed on the website and property info that are not even available. Front desk manager should not be running a hotel at a first-class destination whatsoever. Dismissed guest concerns during our stay and overall this place is not worth the price tag to be treated like a second class citizen. read more
