Rented a boat at Big Rock Resort. Boat was clean and well maintained, started up easily in the morning. Office was will stocked with bait hooks and other things needed for the day and the pricing was actually better than Ernies bait and tackle down the street. Cabins were clean and well maintained with great beds. Mike, Laurie, Alyssa, were great. Snowed while i was fishing and came back to a dock being shoveled off by Pedro who helped me park the boat. Caught 8 fish 4 keepers all over a pound. Great place and value. I will be back !!! read more

We stayed in cabin #3 over Christmas break. Alisa was very attentive/kind. Check in was easy. Views from the cozy, warm cabin were incredible (#3 is right on the lake and the only single cabin as all others are attached to another). The cabin could use some updating (floors slope down quite a bit in the kitchen), advertised to have all sorts of streaming providers & cable but really only had basic cable (we had a 14yr old with us), the hide-a-bed in the couch desperately needs a new mattress, but otherwise very pleasant stay. read more

Stayed here recently. Cozy cabins, but like others noted, the amenities aren't like a hotel or even your typical Airbnb. Instead, there's basic kitchen equipment, an older furnace to keep you warm (be careful, esp. with kids!) and a quaint little set-up that truly matches the remote nature of June Lake. As others noted, the fridge isn't the coldest either and we were missing items that were supposed to be provided, such as dish soap in the kitchen and trash bags. Despite inquiring about these items, we never received them. We also had a few issues, such as minor flooding under the sink in one of our cabins and not receiving a change of towels, despite promptly leaving our soiled towels out in the morning. Although we experienced quite a few inconveniences, Mike (the owner) was pretty nice and we enjoyed conversing with him at the main cabin every morning. He graciously always offered us hot cups of coffee and gave us advice on weather, boating and fishing. In fact, he even helped us fix one of our fishing lines when it broke! Unfortunately, because we came towards the end of the fishing season, he didn't help us too much, as he stated most visitors aren't quite so inexperienced. Thankfully, Pedro was a real lifesaver and ensured we made it out on our boat safely (we rented a fishing boat, which is an extra fee), plus even showed us how to gut a fish. Shoutout to Pedro for his kindness! All in all, we enjoyed our visit here and it made for a nice getaway from busy city life! One of the best parts about this resort is they have two cabins grouped together on the same deck, so we were able to stay right next to extended family, which was convenient. Unfortunately, because they are such a small business, they weren't willing to refund one of the parties in our group who ended up not being able to go due to legitimate health reasons. For that reason alone, it's a bit hard to rate this place more than just average. read more

EXCELLENT service! We were in a fishing derby that started basically at first dawn. Pedro who is in charge of the docks, made sure the boat was ready for us first thing in the morning. He met us at the boat and wiped off the morning dew on the seats. Outstanding dedication for service. Whenever we returned to the docks, he would run over to assist us on docking the boat into the slip. The pontoon boat was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The engine always started on the first try and ran well. No sputtering or stalling The boat had adjustable fishing rod holders, clean cotton hand towels, a small bucket for water to rinse your hands and a trash basket and a Bimini top for shade. Couldn't have asked for more! In addition, the dock ramps and docks were well maintained and very stable. Wasn't wobbly or hazardous. Definitely recommend this outfitter. read more

We stayed at this resort for a few days. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, and prices weren't that bad. We were able to rent a pontoon boat from Mike, and based on how the boat looked and drove, he makes sure his boats are upkept and well maintained. Mike was friendly and did what he could to make sure our boating experience was great. Coming back in future years, we will make sure to look at this resort and marina first before anywhere else. While we didn't do so well fishing, we had a great time on the lake regardless. I saw this resort is for sale, hopefully things don't change! This place sucks, there all about the money. We went there for a vacation. We brought a TRI tip to bbq and couldn't even bbq. There BBQ,s are older than dirt , rusty and falling apart, they didn't clean the old charcoal out from the last people that were there apparently. They say before arriving to cabin all things will be sanitized . That was a lie. The silverware was not rapped as they said it would be. The owners screwed me out of $80.00. Adding on a charge to my credit card The cabin was $1600.00 for a week and they wouldn't even credit my $80.00 back to me. Very Poor management . Would not recommend staying there to anyone . My husband's family and I rented a cabin here for 3 nights while we were visiting June Mountain for skiing and such. The cabins are decent enough, though the heater was broken in the bathroom (and had been for several years it appeared) which made for some chilly showers since we were there in the dead of winter. The kitchen left much to be desired, but you don't exactly stay in a cabin in the mountains in order to enjoy cooking gourmet meals for yourself every night. There was a cute furnace in the living room which heated the entire cabin. It actually got quite toasty at night, and I was sleeping in one of the back bedrooms. The staff shoveled snow off our porch and stairs so that we didn't have to do it ourselves, which was greatly appreciated. We also brought a dog, and were pleased to find that they do have pet-friendly cabins available. The resort is located right next to June Lake, which is quite picturesque and buried in between the surrounding mountains. It's also just down the street from the June Mountain ski resort, which was awesome and much less crowded than Mammoth which is a few miles further. The town of June Lake has several cafes, restaurants, and bars which are quite cozy and fun, making this resort a nice location at which to stay for your mountainous adventures! read more

I recently read a great review for a dining establishment in June Lake where the reviewer reminded the reading audience to have perspective. I am writing this review for a lovely lakeside cabin resort in June Lake, East side of the Sierras, removed from all the chaos - also removed from some of the amenities - of my daily life back home. Perspective. Spent Memorial Day weekend at Big Rock for our 1st wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived Mike, Laurie, and Pedro made us feel welcome, answered our endless fishing questions, and provided us with last minute supplies we forgot! The cabins are quaint and on the small side, but had all that we needed. The cabins are duplex style, with a shared stairway at the front. We never heard our neighbors, but I imagine you might hear a more rowdy group next door. Underneath the deceiving rustic quilt was the most pristine, warm, and comfortable bed! On par with any fancy hotel. We both cooked meals in the cabin, and went out to eat. Beyond garbage bags there are no other misc disposable supplies, which helped us keep our waste to a minimum. There is a small shop on-site where we bought items such as tackle, foil, freezer bags for our trout, beer, ice, etc. Our favorite part of each day was about 5-6 PM. After long day of fishing, we were freshly showered, and enjoyed wine and cheese on the deck overlooking the lake watching the sun set behind snow capped mountains. Epic. We plan to come back to Big Rock Resort every year. We had such a fabulous time! read more

Heard about June Lake this summer and had to check it out. Found Big Rock Resort and stayed 3 nights before Labor Day Weekend 2020. We had a GREAT TIME! The cabin was clean, comfortable and just right. Myself and 3 teenagers and our dog. We rented a pontoon boat both days and had a blast! Very relaxed environment with Wifi that works fine allowing you to do a little Working Remote if needed. The owners and staff were wonderful and we look forward to coming back next year! Everything worked great in the cabin and we were able to get groceries in town and even went down to Mammoth one night for dinner too. (just 20mins away) read more

Very clean cabin with beautiful grounds. So close to June Mountain. Had a great time in Cabin 1. Friendly owners. Cabin 1 had 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Heaters in all rooms. One flat screen tv with lots of channels in family area. We cooked two meals here and went out to dinner in Mammoth once, which is only about 25 min away. No dishwasher so bring paper plates if you don't feel like hand washing. Electric stovetop was a little tricky --had to continuously adjust temps while cooking. Also, no condiments in cabin from previous guests so remember to bring everything you need for food. Showers have instant hot water! And free wifi!! Can't wait to come back again in spring or summer and go hiking and fishing! read more

We stayed here Memorial weekend with my family of five. I was really happy with how clean our cabin was. The view from our cabin door was gorgeous. You look down, you see the lake. You look up and you're surrounded by snow covered mountains. The wifi worked great. The tv was not huge but did have lots of channels. The heater is a fake wood stove that is regulated by thermostat. It was nice because the cabin stays nice and cozy without the headache of keeping a fire going. The complimentary boat was also an awsome perk to this cabin. The family loved taking the boat out throughout the day. Last but not least, the staff was friendly and caring, asking how our stay was several times during our trip. read more

My son and I enjoyed Big River Rock so much that we are coming back next year! Cabins are clean, cozy and fully functional to have a nice meal by the wood burning stove!! The folks here are sweet and beyond amazing! With our cabin rental we had a boat because October is a fisherman's special and our boating skills were a little rusty! Mike took the time to give us one an upgraded boat and two a lesson!!! He also gave us some fishing advice! Beyond happy with our get away during this very crazy time !!! Big Rock Resort was a great place to stay! Cabin #4 (duplex) was perfect! Super clean, cozy, enough room for 3 adults and 2 kids(9yrs,14 yrs). Loved that each cabin has its own parking spots, which make it great for loading and unloading people and supplies. The people running the place were so kind, friendly, and helpful. Pedro on the docks was super helpful when getting on and off the boats. This was our first time staying at Big Rock Resort, but it will not be our last! Just got back from another great trip to the Red Rock Resort in June lake. Our cabin was clean and cozy with nice comfortable beds. The kid friendly grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The Staff was friendly and always helpful and attentive. This is a great place for fishing, boating and all kinds of water sports. I have come to Red Rock with just my wife or my wife and kids or a Boys weekend with a party of 12 guys. I would recommend the resort to anyone read more

Well I didn't stay in the resort so I can't speak to how nice everything is however me and a few friends came here to rent kayaks and the worker we talked to(2 Hispanic gentleman) and the younger kid who helped push the kayaks out were both so nice and helpful we walked in the office door and my friend forgot to pull his mask up (it was on his chin) we walked in and an older lady maby an owner very rudely told him to pull his mask up which he definitely should have already had on however the lady and 3 of there others workers in there didn't have masks on either .. I'm only giving a 3 star because kayaking on the lake was amazing and there support staff were really nice and friendly. read more
