June lake in March
Yolanda S.

Omgosh this place is a gem! So peaceful. When we were there, we talked about how great it would be if we brought our camping chairs, bbq grill, and books to relax at this place. It would be such a great destination for a weekend getaway camping trip! But unfortunately, June lake does not allow camping overnight :"( There is a campground very close by though, but they are closed during the wintertime. We visited June lake in mid March, and surprisingly we could still see lots of snow on the mountains, and also big patches of ice by the lake. The views were seriously incredible. I honestly loved the walking path from the parking lot to the beach, it makes walking at the beach less sandy and much enjoyable. I thought that was super thoughtful. The only con would be the wind, I think it's because it's surrounded by the mountains, so it can be really chilly and windy. All in all, such a beautiful place. Would recommend to dress warmer if you plan for a visit during the Spring. Not to mention, it's only 20+ mins or so away from Mammoth lake. Def worth visiting!

Great spot! Can't wait to come back during the summer. It was pretty and relaxing at the end of November. I enjoyed being there with no crowds. There are picnic benches to sit at and bathrooms on site. It's very beautiful and was peaceful when we went. I will definitely come back!

Best lake ever in the loop! Nice and warm, not to crowded and the clearest water. We come here every year and love it.

One of the best lake beaches I've ever seen. Sand/gravel, is pristine clean. Water is crystal clear. No charge for access to the beach parking. But there isn't much parking. Clearly they do not want this beach to be crowded. With all parking full, the beach was still not crowded.

Playing with the dog before the crowds arrive.

My cousin even had a close call when he accidentally slid off the trail, ran down 100 feet, and narrowly missed hitting trees. (Slipper snow) Despite the challenges, the reward at the top was well worth it. It was a beautiful, secluded lake. Some of us tried a little fishing, while the girls jumped into the freezing cold water for a swim. The water was so "pristine" that my hair felt conditioned afterward. It was magnificent, the water felt untouched and almost holy! This past summer, we hiked it again for the 4th of July, and it was so much easier because I had lost 20 pounds, haha! I'd say the hike is about 13 minutes up, around 2 miles round trip, and great for all ages. Just make sure you're in decent shape and don't have any serious health concerns. When I was 20 pounds heavier, the hike felt like a 10/10 in difficulty. Now, it's more like a 3/10, a total breeze!

Best Campsite on OH Ridge Campground - Site #6!…read more We toured the whole campground, and hands down Campsite #6 is the winner. This site is for tents and not trailers/RV, so yay for us ground campers/RTTs! It's got the perfect front-row view, tucked away just enough to feel private and peaceful, with none of the noise or crowding you get at other spots. If you're lucky enough to snag #6, you won't regret it! *I forgot to mention the restroom, it is quite a long way down to the restroom but we brought our own potty so didn't pay much attention to it. If #6 is already taken, the next best options are sites #7, #8, and #9. They're still good choices, but be aware that the separation is only a couple of bushes--so you'll definitely be sharing a bit of "neighbor visibility." Still nice, but nothing beats the serenity and seclusion of #6. Highly recommend this place, and especially that site!

The people running the kayak rentals were understanding and fun. The lake itself is beautiful and spring fed, the water is clean and fun. It can get cold from wind, so if you're swimming be careful of hypothermia when you get out. The bathrooms were ok. Make sure to go into town and support local businesses or kayak across to the other resorts on the lake!

One tip if you get to the main springs try not to go to the one on the right which is the bigger pool because it's more stagnant water and so there were a lot of these red looking worms or maggots swimming in there. The smaller pool on the left is much cleaner as there are two mini waterfalls that are keeping the water circulating and fresh. Anything less than five stars is an injustice so a glowing five stars and two thumbs up for Travertine Hot Springs!

Whether it's a crisp winter soak with snow on the ground, a calm spring sunrise, warm summer nights, or the quiet stillness of fall, this place always feels right. What makes it special isn't just the hot springs themselves, but the feeling of escape. At night, the sky opens up, endless stars, the Milky Way glowing above you, and if you're patient (or lucky), shooting stars cutting across the darkness. It's peaceful in a way that's hard to find anymore. This is my favorite place to unplug, reset and breathe. No noise, no rush, just nature doing what it does best. Respect the land, pack out what you bring in and soak it all in. If you're looking for a true Eastern Sierra experience raw, beautiful and unforgettable this is it.
