Boulder lodge is like Blue cat lodge in the show Ozark, when Ruth was running the run down lodge. I'm pretty sure she's in the office right now. As you're walking into you room, you're hit with that feeling of The Shining meets Clint Eastwood western The good the bad and the ugly. Our bathroom make you feel right at home(if home was a Dilapidated old folks home) The floors in the bathroom move up And down when you step, pretty sure one day someone will end up showering and falling in the shower below this one. Not to mention random dogs everywhere and cheap labor( The kitchen is still the same from when they Installed it in 1856, along with the real wood paneling. Standing on my balcony slash "waiting to be a death trap", (At least our balcony had rolled fax grass or some rug on it, the other were warped plywood ) , I can't help but look over the lake at the boats and wonder(are any of the boats transporting drugs) from the preacher like Ozark. Or at least dumping a body. While sitting in my full back 1900s chair, I can help but feel like I wasn't the only one sitting in it , straight out of a Stephen King novel. Talk about baby proofing the room, they sure now how to , I mean with leaving the wires hanging from the TV to the floor(classic) Unfortunately my wife didn't want to stay here another night with our dog and 7 month old daughter. Alas, I guess I never find out what touched my leg in the middle of the night. This place would be so bad, if it didn't charge premium prices, for the price I'd expect at least my shower water to drain instead of filling up the shower like a bathtub The lodge would be great if Marty and Wendy bird took it over and remodeled this place.

This rustic getaway has a gorgeous view of the lake and the ladies at the front desk couldn't be nicer if they tried. They made me feel right at home. Also the balcony. The room is really nice and rustic like if you were at Yosemite. I'm very happy that I found this place. It's not fancy but for a motel, it's really great and that's why I gave it five stars; four stars for the place and one extra star for the front desk which adds up to five stars.

IGNORE THE YELP SNOBS! It's the BOULDER F'ING LODGE. It's exactly what you remember it is, and it's still perfect. if you know, you know...

    Mold in bathroom

We ended up having to stay here (not by choice). The chandelier is held up with a carabiner. The spatula was hidden between the wall and the microwave and had yellow crud in the slots (after being told if WE left any dirty dishes we'd be charged a $50 cleaning fee). The wi-fi wouldn't connect. The staff was rude about our dog even though they allow pets. Trash under the bed, torn linoleum in the kitchen, mold in the bathroom, the railings on the balcony were rusty and falling apart... The place was so gross, we cut our trip short so we wouldn't have to stay there the last night of our vacation.

So we only booked here because Kayak claimed this was the only pet friendly hotels in the area. (Turns out that almost all the hotels are pet friendly even though the websites say otherwise) The photos on kayak and their website weren't too bad, seemed like a standard room which is all we needed since we were there for a wedding and wouldn't spend much time in our room anyway. They had a 75$ pet cleaning fee, which seemed fair at check in. For two nights it was going to be 386$. Close to 400$ for two nights is a good chunk of change for a hotel in my opinion. We walk into the room and at first we're like, "okay it's a little run down but whatever we're here and it's pet friendly" We go out to eat with family, have some pre wedding celebrations at the double eagle resort (which is insanely nice, pet friendly, and was ~400 for two nights) come back to our hotel around midnight, where we start to realize just how run down the room really was. Cobwebs in the corners, tv was a joke, paint on the walls were peeling, The chair in the room was disgusting, idk what color it once was but it looked like something you'd find on the side of the road that some tweaker dumped, the lampshades were stained and filthy, the window curtains had white stains all over them, there was an unknown crumbled up used tissue paper in the bathroom cabinet, the coffee pot was dirty and still had leftover coffee grounds and such inside. Safe to say, we didn't stay here. We drove back and stayed in a family members room. Next morning we go to check out early in hopes they will refund our money or at least not charge us for the next night since we were absolutely not going to stay there. They acted insanely surprised we weren't happy with the room or that it was dirty. Said they hire young people to clean the rooms and they will talk to them. Said they know some of the rooms are a "little ehhhh" but because we had dogs that's one of the only pet friendly rooms. I understand only certain rooms allow dogs, but I can assure you I've stayed in lots of hotels with dogs and nothing compared to this. When it came down to it they charged us for one night and the 75$ pet CLEANING fee even though the dogs never even made it to the room because we had them with us at dinner and the other hotel. And I mean, Cleaning fee? Really? For that room? Are you really going to clean it? I feel like an absolute dick writing this review, and we felt suuuuuuper bad when we checked out and told them how unhappy we were with the room. We don't complain, we really don't. We take what is given to us and deal. But this was just so bad for that much money we couldn't justify it. I know it's a family run place which makes it even that much harder, but if y'all don't clean up your rooms or lower your rates, these type of reviews are going to keep on coming.

The WORST experience I've ever had at a hotel. Rundown, dirty, mold, hair in the sheets...how this room is supposed to pass for a decent place to stay is beyond comprehension. The original hotel we'd booked had a plumbing emergency and booked us a room here. We ended up having to book a new room with an entirely new property because it was such a terrible experience. I am still awaiting resolution of refund from both properties. And it's such a shame, because the view of the lake is stunning...but there's no way I'd even consider this place in the future because of the property conditions.

After one night too many in a tent we broke down and started looking for a hotel with a room under $100. Boulder Lodge had a older cabin they gave us for $85 on a Saturday night. They have great expensive rooms with world class mountain lake views there. But we wanted inexpensive/rustic. We got it. =) The cabin was a bit run down, so not a good choice for citified folk, but for the price we were happy. The staff were friendly. There is a free pool table in the lobby too! Free wifi in the office, coffee in the morning, swimming pool & spa, right outside June Lake, so you can walk into town. Great views. Popular hotel.

Boulder Lodge was an OK place to stay for a night. It has some good views of the lake. The property is showing its age and needs some maintenance. There were no toiletries in the bathroom except soap--no shampoo or hand lotion. The hotel advertises internet access, but if you are too far from the office, the wifi doesn't reach to your room which is what happened to me. I sat in the office in a very comfortable chair the night we arrived and I went there for access the next morning. The staff was very friendly especially when the bus arrived and disgorged 40 people all wanting room keys 2 hours before. They brought some men out to carry bags for anyone who needed.

Under much stress and needing some peace. We headed to June Lake CA. One of our favorite places to chill. We weren't sure there would be motels open but we packed a bag just in case. Being from out of state we had to be essential workers. We qualified. Our room had an amazing view of the lake with a private balcony. The breeze blowing through the trees was amazing. The staff was welcoming and friendly and our room was clean and quiet.

We discovered this place by accident. Friend booked the wrong date of the hotel in Mammoth and this is the first place available on a busy Saturday night in the area. It's away 30 min from Mammoth ski resort area. The drive to there is a little bit dark at night. ROOM: Our room was upstair with one queen bed and one twin bed. Pretty spacious. Comes with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, fan etc. Two sinks in the bathroom, one outside and one inside. One small dining table and a working table. Night stands and lamps by each bed. They use oil heater so it takes longer to warm up the room and unlike typical electrical heater, it does have the "wind" blow out as much. Most of their furniture and appliance look older but working condition. Beds were clean but it only came with a thin sheet of blanket. The best part of our room probably is the view from our patio. Our patio is facing June Lake!! Absolutely amazing views in the morning. I would say this is in between travelodge and holiday inn. This is nothing compare to fancy resort like Juniper grade. SERVICE: People worked there are friendly and attentive. RATE: The rate is very reasonable for a last minute booking. We literally called them half hour before our arrivals. It's even cheaper than a Motel 6 smoking room in Mammoth Lake. We are no smokers :/ LOCAL: Around 10 min from June Lake ski resort Approx 5 min from June Lake "downtown" with few shops and restaurants and a brewery Approx 30 min from Mammoth Lake TIPS: No wifi Indoor heated pool/jacuzzi next to the check in office Large outdoor parking lot Affordable Limited services and restaurants with the 5miles zone. Everything else is 10 miles away back to Mammoth Area

Cabin 14, time for a gut and remodel.

This was only my second stay at Double Eagle Resort & Spa, and the difference from my first visit is night and day. What was once a well-kept mountain retreat has clearly declined under current ownership, leaving us with one of the most disappointing and concerning lodging experiences we've had. The property shows serious neglect. Mouse droppings were everywhere outside our room and inside on the carpet too. We literally had to sweep them aside just to get comfortable. Add in prominent water stains on the ceilings, dirty baseboards and floors around the doors, stained towels with yellowish marks, and overall grime, and it crossed into health hazard territory. We booked specifically for the spa amenities. The indoor pool water was a murky green, the hot tub area was slimy and filthy, and both the pool/spa facilities and female sauna were closed with "maintenance" signs that had apparently been there for weeks or months. This is inexcusable at a resort that promotes these as key features with free guest access. Broken window screens also let in swarms of mosquitoes, making the room uncomfortable. We made multiple attempts to resolve these issues visiting the front desk repeatedly, trying to speak with the owner, and giving them time to call back. The response was poor. One employee, Martin at the front desk, seemed more annoyed by our complaints than interested in helping. Other staff seemed polite but stretched thin, which points to bigger problems with management and resources. Double Eagle was a highlight of June Lake. Charging premium rates while delivering filthy conditions, closed amenities, and unresponsive service isn't right. We've documented it all with photos and will be pursuing remedies. If you care about cleanliness, safety, and actually enjoying the spa/pool facilities, look elsewhere. We still love June Lake deeply and will be back to the area but not here until meaningful improvements are made. Strongly not recommended.

When we were in route, we discovered the entire town of June Lake was without power and the motel never notified me. I only learned about the outage through social media, not from the motel staff. This wasn't a minor issue. I had my children and my dog with me, and I rely on an electrical medical device at night, so being without power was not an option. A simple call or email would have allowed me to make other plans before driving all the way there. Instead, I had to scramble to find last‑minute accommodations and ended up having to book another room in Mammoth, where there was power. This cost me extra money, extra stress, and completely derailed our trip. What made the situation even more frustrating is that the motel offered nothing no partial refund, no options, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or safety concerns. They easily could have rented the room to younger guests or anyone willing to stay without power, but instead the responsibility fell entirely on me. I understand that they can't control a town‑wide power outage. But they can control communication and how they treat their guests. Unfortunately, that's where they fell short. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend June Lake Motel unless they significantly improve guest communication and show more responsibility during situations like this.

The rooms are actually very big and comfortable. We had a downstairs room, off in the corner, with windows and a large living space and kitchen area. We couldn't get over how spacious the bedroom was and how comfortable it was for two people. The bed was super soft. Bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels. Soft towels too! A nice little couch and a three person kitchen table. Truly a large room great for when you'll be staying a few days. It was all of the little touches that made this room great as well. The fan worked and didn't make any noise. The heater worked great. The kitchen was equipped with a large fridge, sink, microwave, Toaster, and four burner stove. It was nice that they had cups, plates, bowls, and silverware. Honestly, anything you would need to eat in. We ended up eating out pretty much every meal because we wanted to enjoy trying the local businesses, but should I ever come back I would definitely pack enough to be able to cook here because it was a great set up. Tyler made check in and check out a breeze. He was nice and didn't give us much hassle when we needed to extend our check out by 30 minutes. He was very friendly from the get and insured we had everything we needed. We appreciated his kind demeanor as we checked in after hours of traveling. The location is five stars itself because you're dead in the center of June Lake downtown with restaurants on each side of you and right behind this motel is the very popular June brewing company. The location was walkable to everything we needed. We also appreciated that they had about a 10 car parking lot. When parking spots fill up, you are welcome to park on the street no issues. We felt that the rooms were pretty soundproof from outside activity but when you are on the bottom floor, we were at the mercy of the people above us. Unfortunately, the people above us were pretty loud, but that's just the way the dicerolls sometimes. I'm sure had we went to the motel staff they maybe would've helped but it just seemed Like too much to ask because really guests should be more courteous that we don't have to tell on them or confront them. The only real negative about being on the bottom floor, but I do prefer the bottom floor as it is easy in and out/not having to carry your bags up the icy stairs etc. The good news is this downtown area is pretty quiet and most of the businesses are closed by 8/9 PM so even if there are loud people, everyone seems to be in their rooms and winding down earlier than if you were in a big city so it was still pretty comfortable and reasonable overall. I would definitely recommend this motel when staying in June Lake, and should I come back up here soon this would definitely be my #1 choice.

The cabin is a nice size for a couple, or maybe a small family, but to sleep 10?, I think it would be cramped. The fridge is a very small dorm room sized one. We could only get the front burners on the electric stove to work, and we didn't try the oven. The heater in the bathroom does not stay on,which is not great, when you go to take a shower and it's a VERY cold morning. One of the provided towels seemed to have some hard, blue stuff stuck to it. The toilet is...tilted. This is a little disconcerting if you have to get up to pee during the night and almost fall off of it! The bed in the downstairs bedroom is soft. VERY soft....and sinks into the middle. My husband and I basically kept rolling into each other all night and had to fight for space. The futon in the living room did not make for a very comfortable couch at all, and would take a SOUND sleeper to be able to sleep on it. The heater in the living room area seems to work well, and we didn't need the one in the bedroom as it seems to stay pretty warm if you keep the door closed. We were unable to use the wood burning stove as they only provide wood during the winter months, and we didn't feel like buying any. It would be great if we could have used it though. It got down into the low 40's to high 30's at night. The whole place needs updating as it looks like it came straight out of the 50's, but not in a cool, kitchy way. The railing on the deck...we get that nobody is suppose to climb on it,but when we even touched it, the entire railing wobbled Also, the screen on one of the doors was off the track, and no matter how many times we fixed it, it was just difficult to use. The tiny TV, had a sound restrictor on it, or something, as it was very quiet and sometimes impossible to hear. The remote did not work to turn it off or on. Now, the pros. The view of the mountains, out the back is beautiful. The deck, provided with some VERY old, plastic chairs and one lounger, was ok. Would have been nice to have a little table as well, so we had a secure place to put our coffee cups, during breakfast in the morning. The kitchen, though dated, is well stocked with dishes, utensils, cookware and cleaning supplies. There are barbeques, but no shade or places to eat or sit while bbqing. There IS WiFi, and the code was provided right in the cabin. It worked pretty well the entire time. The bathtub was large enough for me to stretch out in and soak in. There is a microwave, coffee maker and toaster also provided. The place was clean, but very dated. In summary, this is a housekeeping cabin. If you are looking for maid service, room service or other hotel resort type ammenities, this is NOT the place for you. This is more basic. We will consider returning IF some things, such as the bed, stairs and railings are fixed.

Oh, and the entry steps and landing (which is 6 feet up) - I had to pray they wouldn't crumble beneath me because the wood is so rotten - who inspects these places? Helen Keller at night? I was actually nervous every time I would enter and exit the place - what a relaxing resort-style vacation this turned out to be. Full kitchen? Look closely at the picture on the website - there is a tiny dorm-sized refrigerator that didn't freeze water after three days of it sitting in the freezer section - and that's after I spent two hours of my vacation defrosting it. There's hardly any room for one person in the kitchen, and if someone wants something, it's a total hassle to get it. And the luxurious bed - my wife would blink and the mattress bounced so much I nearly flew out of the bed. Add to that the 1960's blanket made of who knows how much polyester and you have resort-level romance in the making. Not to mention the boot-camp instructions on the wall which read, "on your last day don't strip your bed" - what? So they can see if the sheets really need to be changed or just straightened out for the next guest? Ewwww. The picture shows a comfortable looking couch, but ours was an unyielding uncomfortable futon covered with another nasty old blanket. I couldn't get comfortable while watching the 17 inch old-fashioned TV. Also, no Wi-Fi - lemme check. Yup. It's 2014. Need I say more. The entire "resort" is in disrepair and shabby. Weed growth between buildings. Parking area nothing but dirt and stones (not gravel). Solitary BBQ sitting across parking area with no seating or picnic table or anything. I like how Wikipedia puts it: "In North American English, the term "resort" is now also used for a self-contained commercial establishment which attempts to provide for most of a vacationer's wants while remaining on the premises, such as food, drink, lodging, sports, entertainment, and shopping. The term may be used to identify a hotel property that provides an array of amenities and typically includes entertainment and recreational activities". Now, take the opposite of Wiki's definition and you have The Four Season's June Lake.
