Doshi used to be one of my fav restaurants. I'm not sure what has changed, but you taste soap when you get their sushi lunch menu. Last time was so bad that the owner decided not to charge us. I decided to give it a second chance recently, but their sushi (even the ginger) still had a bit of soap taste to them. Since the non-sushi rice tastes fine, I'm not sure what is going on. Unfortunately, I will not be going back there again. I'm not sure if the soap they are using to wash their hands are either too strong or if they are using the leftover rice or ginger by washing them. I hate leaving a bad review, but I sincerely hope they find a solution soon. read more

HOLY SMOKES. This is one of the places that you will say is a "once in a lifetime meal." This place brings you into Korean seafood paradise. Of course the sashimi is amazing but one plus about getting the VIP package is the live octopus that's a rare delicacy. My favorite dish was actually the sauteed crab. It was crunchy and savory and was a delight that balanced all of the fresh fish and other side dishes. Very nice place!! I'd love to come back and try more but I was on limited time and was there for a quick lunch. I came right as they opened and was greeted by all the sushi chefs and wait staff. Seated quickly, got my drink order and looked over the lunch menu as it's placed in front of you with every table setting. They have an array of sushi rolls, some rice plates, and prices range from $12 upwards to $50 but meant for lots of people. Plenty of food, plus some banchan this was a great and filling lunch!! I got the rolls lunch where you choose two rolls from a list, soup and salad, and some banchan plates. Everything tasted so good including the banchan (extra side dishes). There are quite a few lunch options, whether you're looking for a lot of food or "less" lots of food... either way, you're getting a lot! I've had the Doshi Lunch A (for 1) for $20 and it was way more food than I could ever need. From sashimi to sushi to tempura to grilled fish and fish roe over rice and salad/soup... it's basically unhealthy to be finishing all that by yourself for lunch. I've also had the Sushi Sashimi combo, which basically has everything I could have wanted from the Doshi Lunch A for only $14. It also comes with a small udon, which is very plain but comforting and soupy. Overall, the quality of the fish and food is pretty good for the cost. My favorite Korean-Japanese restaurant in the metro Atlanta area, getting a combination of Japanese food with Korean side dishes / appetizers. It is not cheap, but you will get quality fish and service. I come out full but I do eat a smaller portion; for those who are more for quantity, this place might not be for you. For lunch, I either get the sushi lunch combo -- 6 pieces of sushi, shrimp tempura roll, salad, and an udon (only for dine-in) -- or the flounder lunch if I'm eating with someone else. Flounder lunch comes with sashimi and a few pieces of sushi, vegetable and shrimp tempura, few slices of hamachi, salad, and spicy fish stew (if you dine in, you'll also get steamed eggs and fish roe rice). For dinner, I either get one of the sushi options (9 pcs per person) or one of the summer flounder options (comes with appetizers and a fish roe rice + spicy fish stew afterwards). Some of the appetizers include salad, steamed egg, soba, bacon wrapped sausage, grilled fish, corn cheese, slices of tuna and hamachi, shrimp tempura, salad, potato pancake, etc. Sushi menu comes with a salad and slices of tuna too but appetizers are not as extensive as the flounder menu. The flounder menu also comes with a few slices of sea pineapple, abalone, and sea cucumber. Some of these appetizers are not available when you order take-out, so I've found it's more worth the money when you dine in (more filling with all the side dishes). The owner was very nice every time I go, always ready to strike up a conversation (some people might not like that). When I had ordered a large amount of food for take-out once, he made sure everything was packed tightly and helped put it in my car in a good space to prevent any spilling. read more

There are so many great places to eat in Atlanta, and Doshi Sushi is another one to add to that list. I ordered the Doshi lunch set B. I had no idea this was a Korean Japanese restaurant coming in, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive some banchan. Also with the set came a small bowl of fish soup, a piece of shrimp & vegetable tempura, fried fish, and rice with fish roe. I was also happy my sashimi set included several pieces of chutoro, which melted in my mouth :). The tempura batter/breading was that perfect texture of light cripiness:flakiness. The only real downer was the fish. The breading had absolutely no crunch to it, like it had been sitting out for a while. Regardless, I would still order this set again. You get incredible value in terms of the quality, amount, and variety of food. COVID-wise, all staff were wearing masks. The restaurant itself has high walls between booths, and has semi-private cubicles that line the perimeter of the restaurant. They even give you an alcohol pad when they give you your credit card back! I would definitely come to Doshi again. read more

This has become my favorite sushi spot. I ended up going here by accident because I had a hard time picking a place to eat around Duluth. I know, difficult, right? I stepped in and had a seat at the bar. The staff was very nice and attentive. They served me right away and got my drink. The menu has a lot of really neat options, but I chose option A? I think. The order included a bunch of sides. The last time I ever got this type of salad and side options was when I traveled to Israel. These were all free sides or came as part of the meal. The order was for sashimi and nigiri with a roasted fish and soup. The meal was huge and a great deal. Totally worth it. The sashimi was some of the best I've had in Atlanta. The restaurant is in a little shopping plaza, but there's enough parking. One of the best things about this restaurant is how every staff member wears their mask the correct way! There's hand sanitizer galore; each table gets their own. Service is very prompt, and even if they don't check on you as often as you'd like, there's a call button to alert them to your needs. We ordered the hamachi carpaccio, fried calamari, nameyaki udon, dancing eel roll, Godzilla roll, spicy tuna roll, and TNT roll. I was excited and surprised to find that we each received a miso soup and house salad to go with our udon, as well as fish cake, apple and cabbage slaw, and pickled cucumber banchan. Everything tasted so good. The food came out very quickly and well timed. Honestly, I enjoyed everything. Sorry I can't give you an intimate description of each item because I was so hungry, I crammed everything down very quickly. There wasn't a single thing we didn't like. There wasn't too much rice on each roll, which is a problem I find with a lot of sushi restaurants. They were reasonably sized so you weren't going to choke if you are the entire piece in one bite. Doshi Sushi is in the same plaza as Kungfu Tea and Orange café bar, but they are the last restaurant in that plaza. I was seated in a private room and I order the following: -B Doshi Lunch B (9pc sashimi, 5 piece of sushi, Carpaccio, Veggie and shrimp tempura, grilled fish, Fish Roe over rice, spicy fish soup, and a salad) for $25. I received A LOT of food for lunch and all just for $25. Granted, it's not all quality but it's still a lot of food for the price that you are paying. After trying everything, I think the shrimp tempura, grilled fish, spicy fish soup, and 9pc sashimi is my favorite. Doshi is reasonably priced for Nigiri by the piece. The sushi is flavorful and you can eat it with no soy sauce or a light painting using your chopsticks. Other places have a bit more panache with fancier interior décor, but you pay for the atmosphere. Price to value here is probably the best in the area. This is very important if you are only ordering takeout. They don't have online ordering so you will need to call it in. Anytime you're on the phone mistakes happen, but anytime the order was wrong they corrected it once we arrived. They setup a pay and pickup station at the entrance so you can pay or place an order without having to go more than 2 ft past the front door. They also have contactless payment which is nice. The restaurant has done a fine job on pivoting from dine in to take out the way they have everything setup. Highly recommended for takeout and when we get back to normal they have a good casual sit down place. read more

Um, we did have some mishaps with our order, like 3 times but it's all good. The server seemed really apologetic but I would of liked it if they comped some thing cause it made me wait and my gf just ate in front of me and when she was full, I just got my food so that wasn't very good... Donkatsu was super crispy tho, so good. Gyoza was good and my baby's teriyaki thing was decent ( what I could of made lol. ) both dishes imo, were worth like $10 - $15 but yea, their prices are what they are so whatever. This is a Korean Japanese restaurant that's located next to Honey Pig and Kung Fu Tea in Duluth. It's mainly Japanese food and menu althought most of the people there are Korean. The interior is clean and open. I ordered the sushi lunch combo, which is greatly prices at $13 (Dec 2019). It comes with 6 pieces of nigiri, tempura, and half of udon. Since it's a Korean place, there are lots of banchans along with it as well. Most of the places restrict lunch menus to weekdays, but it was nice to see it available all 7 days of the week since I went in on a Saturday. All the food we've got, they were all solid and tasty. This is definitely a Korean sushi restaurant. There are some Korean favorites like grilled cheese corn and basically all the sides that you'll see at a KBBQ spot. Just with the addition of sushi and some Japanese dishes. Service was prompt and courteous. It was not busy when I went (4pm-ish on a Friday) Food: I ordered the Super Crunch roll, Spicy Tuna roll, cheese corn, and hot green tea. The rolls are stuffed! You can and you should (I should've) definitely share the rolls. Spicy tuna was different texture, but I still liked it. Super Crunch was tasty. With shrimp tempura, smoked salmon, crunches, and white sauce, this roll was really balanced and delicious. Cheese corn was pretty good too. I do wish they had an a la carte option for their sushi though. Overall, I'd come back to this place for the sushi rolls. If you like a variety of rolls, I recommend Doshi. The food was good but I would say that this Korean/Japanese symphony of food had a lot of dissonance. Maybe I am in the wrong head space in thinking that this is a Japanese restaurant owned by Koreans with their culinary influence, when instead this is more like a Korean interpretation of Japanese food? The Flouder came with seaweed and sesame oil, which is probably what affected my taste buds having constantly shifted from tuna with a touch of shoyu and wasabi and then my next bite being flouder with seaweed, sesame oil, and salt. There were tons of dishes that were included as well that neither the server nor I had time to dissect what was what. To be fair, dinner was a little chaotic. The food hits most of the right notes, but the price warrants more in the level of service and presentation to the food. I saw this place on my friend's Snapchat and had to immediately ask where the food was from. This place to my surprise is local to me (under .02 miles) Sooo stoked to check this place out, I came here the next day. Doshi is located between Old Norcross and Satellite intersection and in the same shopping center as Honey Pig. This restaurant is widespread and the layout is very open. This place also caters to larger parties and they have private rooms to accommodate. The menu is pretty large. However I am a sashimi lover so my date and I ordered the VIP DELUXE for 2 and a bottle of Sake. This place is Japanese style sushi and I was so excited when all the side dishes came out. We sat across from the sushi chefs so we got to see the chefs use their special techniques to prepare our sashimi. The differences in the reg sashimi platter n the VIP deluxe the the different grades and it was well worth it. My sashimi slices were very thick, and it was very filling for my date and I. I went for the lunch special on a Sunday right before it ended, around 2:15pm. The inside it spacious and clean. I got the $12 lunch special which included 6 pieces of nigiri sushi, 5 pieces of a shrimp tempura roll, a small salad, and a small bowl of udon. There was also 6 banchan which were pretty standard. I haven't written a review in a really long time, but when you have such an amazing experience, of course you want to shout and yelp and exclaim and spread the love about it. Doshi Sushi was an amazing experience for a friend and me on a random weeknight. Everyone on the staff was so sweet and the sushi tasted amazing. I tried the "fantasy" roll with spicy tuna on top of tuna and roe and it was amazing. I also got the bagel roll with smoked salmon, avocado, and cream cheese. Yummmmmyyy. I was able to try my friend's volcano roll also. I liked the crunchy and warm octopus on top of the roll. Our sushi came with miso soup and salad which was nice of them. We were also offered iced green tea which was unique and refreshing. After our meal, our server gave us complimentary traditional Korean cinnamon tea. I've never had it before but it was a great calming end to the meal. One of my favorite spots in Duluth. Found this place by accident, my nephew wanted sushi after school which most places close around 3pm. This place didn't so we headed to Duluth from Suwanee. The sushi was fresh, quality made. You can taste the fresh fish and all of the ingredients were spot on. The service was great! We got our food a little bit slower but it was fairly busy the day we went. Overall zero complaints and great quality sushi!
