I'm happy to hear Doshi House has expanded their biz hours to 5pm, as I oftentimes find myself craving their chai latte in the late afternoon. If you've never had their chai, it's a must. They make the chai blend right in house (brewed for 36 hours) and it's now sold in a concentrate so you can purchase a bottle to go and make your own hot or iced versions at home. Another standout is their their menu of vegan eats, their revamped back patio, and their Third Ward community involvement. Do check 'em out. P.S. Super cute, quaint cafe with lots of natural sunlight and peaceful vibes. I love to come here to study when I'm alone. I was confused on where the parking lot was, but there's lots of street parking available. I got the dirty chai and just egg n potato taco. The tacos are a bit pricey for the quantity but they taste pretty good. It came with a flavorful sauce and ingredients tasted fresh. This was a great way to soak in some radiant sunlight and directly view the street parking and bustling third ward community. No worries if street parking isn't your preferred choice, I later found parking available behind the shop.  Staff While I was a newbie to Doshi House, I was met with a welcoming introduction. The staff was friendly, community-oriented, and has clearly been intentional with building relationships with customers. Whether patrons were coming into their remote work spot for the day or grabbing a cup to go, it was clear that frequenters had an authentic connection with the staff. It's nice seeing a business be connected with the community it serves. Menu Doshi's menu serves the classic coffee faves such as drip coffees, flavored lattes, teas, smoothies, and pastries/breakfast, which makes it easy for any customer to find something they'd enjoy. For those who like to explore, Doshi gives a unique flair to the morning food/beverage scene with items like their Chili Mocha (Red Chilli + Chocolate) and Mughal Spice (saffron) lattes, Sun Ray (Tumeric Blend + Apple Juice) Infusion Tea, Raw Razzle Smoothie (Blueberry, Banana, Kale, Spinach, Cucumber, Apple Juice, Agave), and Korean BBQ tacos. Some highlights I appreciated were the diverse syrup choices and plant-based-only milk options. Typically when you go to a coffee shop, dairy options or limited plant-based options. Offering plant-based only (Oat, Soy, and Almond) is an excellent opportunity to expose customers to milk options that are equally as good and much friendlier on the body. As for syrups, I recommend a mix of lavender and vanilla. I had these in a latte with Oat milk which was the perfect blend of calmness and sweetness.  Aesthetic & Amenities In the age of coffee shops being a common work-from-home space, Doshi offers plenty of seating inside and out. Whether you're working remotely, meeting with friends/colleagues, or having a romantic coffee rendezvous, there's a spot in Doshi inside the Artsy, Bohemian Chic-themed shop or on the fan-cooled and shaded patio. I'd recommend the table with the swing. A perfect spot as there isn't any seating behind it adds a layer of privacy for computer work. It's directly in the shade, under the fan, and faces the entire patio for a tremendous in-front view. The patio also has a walk-up window that makes it easy to receive orders for those outside or needing condiments, water, or other dine-in needs.  The unisex bathroom is clean and stocked and has free feminine hygiene products. The breakfast tacos were excellent. The green tea was exhilarating but what took my breath away about this coffee shop was the outdoor courtyard patio. It's such a unique element to a restaurant, and it gives me Austin, Texas vibes. The ambiance does give you the typical coffee shop vibe but with a cool twist; the customer service was on point, and the parking situation is probably the only downside of this establishment. This place has hands down one of the best chai lattes I've ever had (with a cute decoration to boot). It is incredibly flavorful without being overly sweet. I think it heavily depends on the barista, because I ordered one to go a separate time and it wasn't as good :( but I will consider it a fluke. The parking here is a bit convoluted and can be difficult during peak times. I wish they had their own parking space. I love that they're a fully vegan cafe that doesn't upcharge for non-dairy milk. Reasonably priced. Fantastic vibes. Workers are all really nice. Update: I tried their Plain Jain Tacos and another chai latte (back to being superbly delicious, so it was indeed a fluke) and I'm OBSESSED. What a great community coffee shop! The seating area is super cute with a.large communal dining table and plenty of sofa niches and smaller tables. The owner and staff are very friendly, conversing easily with visitors, most of whom seem like regulars. The cafe serves all vegan food. I tried the samosa panini, which was very well made and served with a side of banana chips. We also shared a vegan cinammon role (locally made, but not in house). Overall, I loved the vibe. With the month-old renovation of the interior and the construction of the outdoor seating area, Doshi House has rocketed to the top of my coffee shop rotation list. Don't get me wrong - the old interior was hella charming and cozy on its own, but it's absolutely amazing to see this community cafe's metamorphosis from quaint hideaway to vibrant social hub. I sipped my flat white outside on my most recent visit and enjoyed serenity within the artsy wooden divider area as well as convenient service from the back-end service window. When it got a little more chilly, I retreated inside and continued to relax and work among the chatty, diverse crowd. For productivity-minded patrons, note that the wifi is excellent indoors and out, but power outlets are lacking in number. I got the potato quinoa taco : super tasty & filling, asado fresco taco: flavorful & the mock chicken had a very convincing texture, Thai coconut soup with shredded cabbage: light but satisfying. Yum the Red Flower tea is great, it's comes with a lovely flower bud in the bottom of the glass, presentation is beautiful and location is perfect. My wife & I finally made it here! We've been trying to get here for a while and we finally made it! =] A company we volunteer with had a board meeting there and invited us. They provided lunch with Doshi's delicious Salad of the Day with Vegan Protein crumbles. Uber fresh, mighty, & tasty! This was a different experience than the normal going to a restaurant and dining in. Two things; because the food was provided right when we got there, I didn't get to see the menu. Secondly, we dined outside (beautiful outdoor dining spaces!), so I didn't get the chance to capture the inside. There is a parking lot and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating in this cute coffee shop. Service was quick and there some food options (vegan tacos) and coffees. I got half sweetness oat milk pistachio latte and it tasted okay. I love that it didn't cost extra to pick between the different plant-based milks. Each latte came out to around $5.50 so the price was pretty reasonable for a oat milk latte with flavored syrup. I really wish they had more vegan food options. read more

I really wanted to love it! The food and drink options are really unique and look really yummy on their social media. Also the vibe on their Instagram seemed really friendly and community forward. But upon entering we were greeted by a very friendly barista once, and then after that the cashier (different person) wasn't very informative or interested, we had to take a moment to look at the menu and told her it was our first time there to which she replied "Oh." My friend and I both felt like we were bothering her by placing our order. And unfortunately most of my order was wrong afterwards and I was still apprehensive to say something. I get everyone has their days, and I definitely understand not being in the mood to give people your energy, it just didn't help my impression of the place after an almost hour long drive just to try it out. If I'm ever in this area again I would probably want to try it again. Would probably be a cool place to stop/hang out if you live near by, but just be careful in this area of Houston. It's great vibe as soon as you walk in! It's a little small but it's all vegan..... my food was great but a quick reminder, this is a cashless establishment. I was not aware of this until my food was ordered. I didn't see a sign or see that on the website. Sometimes I carry cash for emergencies. Super grateful to have found this place! We were only in Houston for a night for the UFC fights, and needed something we could eat before heading back to Austin. I found this place because it looked like they had a lot of Vegan options and also had some much needed coffee. We called in an order to go.... It does seem like Yelp does not have an updated menu but the guy on the phone was very helpful. Told us they basically only had tacos at the time and they were all Vegan. My husband and I ordered one of each of the 4 tacos and I am pleased to say that they were all yummy . I came to Doshi on a whim after searching for vegan places to eat. The Thursday lentil broth cooked in simmering tomatoes served over rice is a solid dish. We also got the empanadas which were stuffed with black beans and potatoes. The stew was a little too spicy for me but it was still very good. During the day they have paninis. The water station is set a bit diagonal adjacent to the cashier. It was almost empty when I got there but it was to the point where the water comes out in small intervals so I didn't feel like notifying the cashier when I asked her for glasses. The water tasted unfiltered like Houston tap water. They have a very good selection of coffees and teas from looking at their board. I did not try any because I was mostly hungry and thought this would be a tiny restaurant. It's a really charming little coffee shop/tea house located located in the area behind Axelrad on the other side of West Alamaba that is usually forgotten. I will definitely be coming back to try their coffees/teas and to try the different foods they have each night. This is totally a hole in the wall place. Outside it looks run down and there's no signage so it would be easy to miss. But inside it's hip, modern, industrial, and cozy. There's a tiny lot for parking for like 3 cars but plenty of street parking. Area is kind of sketch so make sure you don't leave any items in the car, etc etc. Customer service was great. I went when Houston had the boil water notice and they were able to recommend some good drip coffee drinks. I also got the quinoa potato taco, which was good and different. Ooooooohh, my!! Doshi House was an experience. Was just n Houston during the spring looking for plant based restaurants/food trucks, etc. Found this spot and it became my go to place. It was in a part of town that surely has character, flow and culture yet appears somewhat disenfranchised with a looming element of gentrification. Tacos and lattes appear to be the stars of the menu and did not disappoint. I think I tried all the tacos on the menu, which was a delight. The latte although delish yet always cane out a bit too sweet. The tipping system is unique and innovative which also to provide written feedback. Clever! Doshi house is a quaint little vegan restaurant/ coffee house with a hipster feel to it. It reminds me of a toned down version of the little hole-in-wall coffee spots in Austin. It has a nice little patio area but unfortunately it was 36 degrees so I wasn't able to partake. This is a tip-free establishment but you can "contribute" to the business through a scannable QR code that takes you directly to the "contribution" tab on the website. Proceeds go to helping community development efforts that Doshi House does in 3rd ward. Cool concept. The staff was very nice but the young gentleman and lady's names are escaping me now since this review is a day later. I'm going to have to say at first I thought the menu looked a little pricey. For 6 items (two tacos, two cinnamon buns, a latte, and a smoothie, $5 contribution), well 7 if you count the contribution, we were at a total of $50 for the meal. I do have to say that if you need a little study break treat or just want to chill and talk or hammer out some work I think it's kind of worth it. Only one slight knock. The smoothie was okay but I could have gotten a much bigger version of the same thing from Smoothie King or Jamba for the same price. Now too the awesomeness. The cinnamon buns were spectacular and that coconut cream icing may now be my favorite type of icing over the cream cheese kind. The taco was hearty and flavorful (albeit a bit messy lol). Bright Monday noon after the MLK parade at Midtown, I was very hungry and started to look for vegan/vegetarian options, when Doshi house popped up as the open restaurant ( many were closed, either because it was MLK day, or just because it was a monday...) . Living in the city, Doshi house had shown on my radar many times earlier but always settled for something else since the area was kinda unfamiliar and sort of shady. Nobody really goes there unless they HAVE to. We put the GPS on and it brought us to the area at the intersection of Emancipation and Holeman, we were sure GPS had messed up. There was a white building, but absolutely nothing to indicate that it is a restaurant or anything at all. The area itself didnt do much to help. We got off the car and started to peer into the only building and saw people, hmm..ok, lets find out and lo...we entered and it was a surprise, IT WAS the Doshi house, a free wifi board is the only thing around which confirmed that it was infact Doshi house. Its completely different on the inside. Looks upscale, vintage, sparkling clean and so cute. The menu surprised us even more , there was kadak chai, mumbai flavored sandwich called Mumbai streets and lots of beverages - all vegan. We got the kadak chai(no brainer ), the above mentioned sandwich along with the Yachea gogi. They came pretty quick and the spice level was just so perfect. A "not Indian" cuisine, in US, with the perfect spice for an Indian palate- now that is rare. The sandwiches came with some spinach and banana chips on the side.The always have some form of protein, mine had soy chunks. The Mumbai one had a samosa'ish flavor, and chai was indeed kadak with the perfect spices and pipping hot - it simply could not get better. Overall, it was very pleasantly surprising happy lunch for the day. There is so much more to try I can't wait to go back. And, if they do bring back the parle-g with chai, am coming NOW! read more

First time of many to come. I'm always in pursuit of a delicious not-from-concentrate or overly sweetened Chai. Saw in several reviews that this place has the real deal so was excited to see. Real deal indeed! They have two versions: one similar to all reg sweetened Chai Lattes and the other is an authentic Indian Masala chai, Karak Cha. I went the traditional Masala route and opted for the latter. Delicious, earthy and soothing! So much so I had two. Now you could miss this place since there's no outside signage but it's the only business on the corner of Emancipation & Holman. There are a couple parking spaces in the rear and street parking too. Incredibly cute coffee shop in third ward that gives back to the community. Limited parking at the shop itself but street parking throughout. Definitely a bit more out of the way compared to the cluster of montrose coffee shops, but overall not too much of a drive from West U/TMC. I got a drip that was excellent (according to the barista, from Nicaragua) and came with a free refill while my friend got a chai (as is their staple here--said it's authentic and reminds them of the homemade versions they grew up with). Super nice, quick service with no lines. The inside is very cute and they have an outdoor patio that is perfect for the Houston pseudo-fall weather. Strong wifi and a good study spot. I had time to sit in Doshi and enjoy a warm drink and some food. I ordered the Kadak Chai, the Korean taco, and the Potato & Quinoa taco. The Kadak Chai was absolutely delicious. It was like drink a spiced treat. It was on the sweet side but I didn't mind. Both of the tacos were delicious but the Korean taco was the best. However, with the tacos, I wish the tortillas were doubled since the single makes it easier to break and a fork would of been nice to get the droppings lol. Easily the best coffee/tea spot in Houston I've found so far. If you try any of the Doshi House Chai it may ruin Chai Lattes from anywhere else - so be warned. It's a perfectly charming little place. Indoor and outdoor seating. Minimal healthy breakfast items until 11:00 am and then switch to a minimal lunch menu (also healthy). I haven't tried any dinner items but I'm sure they have great flavor just like everything else. For my vegan and health conscious people: they don't up charge for nut milks. It's how they brew all their coffee/tea. I can't tell you how nice it is to not order a latte and get hit with a $1.00 up charge for 6 oz of almond or oat milk. The Thai vegetable coconut soup is delicious and the bean chili is really good too. Smoothies are delicious. My only critique is to add more food inside the paninis. The contents of the paninis have great flavor, but get a bit over powered as the bread to filling ratio is a little too in favor of the bread. Do yourself a favor and bring a book to the Doshi house, enjoy one of their breakfast items, read while sipping on a Chai Latte, then enjoy one of their lunch items. Start indoors and then move outside to get some sun, or vice versa. Whatever makes you happy. It will make you happy :) read more
