I love the ambience of mantra and the design of the restaurant. It is beautifully put together. Lots of plants and geometrical decorations very inviting and warm. A great place for special events or date night. Featuring a beautiful menu crafted for plant-based living. However, anyone will enjoy the menu. We started off with the yucca fries and the SW hand pies. The fries were my absolute favorite. I did also enjoy the hand pies. They were very feeling. Our server was excellent. He was very attentive and handled the flow of the dining room exquisitely. I had the marsala, everything is well season. I really enjoyed the taste and texture of the oyster mushrooms. The potatoes were cooked perfectly along with the broccolini. My friend enjoyed the nachos. I have had them before and I never disappointed amount of spice, lots of flavor, It's definitely enough for two to share and once you start, you cannot stop. This is definitely a top pick for a nice dinner out.

2/9/25- back for more. The coconut calamari was absolutely amazing and the buffalo jack pizza had a very nice spice level to it plus it was full of flavor. Finished it off with the raw strawberry hibiscus cheesecake. Man oh man the flavors here are truly exquisite and one of a kind. The staff is so kind and the place is kept up very clean.

We went to Mantra this afternoon and it was so delicious. Food was really good and staff were so nice. Will definitely go back again!

The ambience was incredible but the food was subpar. Everything was okay but it didn't have enough seasoning. I like the concept but after being vegan for 4 years, i wasn't impressed.

A lot of vegan restaurants are gimmicky, so I often approach these sorts of places with pessimism. But Mantra was a nice change of pace as the menu, while justifiably pricey due to the quality of ingredients used, was tasty and clearly technique-driven. They undoubtedly use the best meat substitutes, and our meal featured some fun surprises. We did visit fairly early in their development, thus while the interior was what I would call urban minimalist, there was a great deal of construction outside that made for a fairly ugly view. There was only one front-of-house employee, but he did a wonderful job explaining everything and serving us. My thoughts on our meal: Coconut Calamari - A dish that blew my mind and is an absolute must if you dine here. The taste is indistinguishable from the squid counterpart, though of course the texture can't quite compare. I wish the pieces were a little on the larger side. K-Seoul Pizza - gluten-free crust with vegan mozzarella, sauteed mushrooms, and a syrupy sauce that was tangy, fruity, and spicy. A fragrant and fresh tasting delight, though part of me wishes it was less saucy. The Lioness - a Lions mane crab cake sandwich of sorts. If you've never had this particular shroom, it's super meaty in texture and really tasty. The flavors were there, but I found the actually patty too thin and the gluten-free bun a tad too chewy. The thick-cut fries were well seasoned and fluffy. Overall, probably would try something else instead of paying $18 for this dish again.

    Yucca Fries - delicious!

One of the best vegan restaurants in Houston! Top notch food, service, and atmosphere. We started with an order of the yucca fries - crispy and well seasoned on the outside, and deliciously soft on the inside. These were perfection! Next, we shared an order of plantain nachos. The "cheese" was amazing and creamy, served with a healthy portion of avocado and pico. Super yummy! Lastly, we shared the "crab cake" sandwich and holy cow, it was delicious. The breading was creative, flavorful, and crispy - the "crab" was made from mushrooms - the combination of flavors was delightful. You can certainly tell the chef pays attention to every little detail and brings the perfect balance of flavors to every dish. Alongside the friendly and helpful service, the ambiance of the restaurant gives a nice, chill, laid-back vibe. We can't wait to go back and explore the menu more!

We enjoyed the service and atmosphere of mantra, and when seated felt a little sad there weren't more people there. I think the two items we ordered just needed a liiittle more of something - more lime and seasoning in the coconut ceviche, more heat or some kind of condiment on the pizza, both were alright but not quite up to the quality that the ambiance and vibe of the space leads you to expect. Just a few tweaks could make these both really great plates. I'd like to return to sample some of the other items!

Jackfruit sandwich was amazing. A little spice but delicious

Found out about this place right before I moved out of Houston to Phoenix but it lived in my head rent free. Finally got a chance to check it out over the weekend as we fly back to Htown to hang out. First off the ambient is super chill and inviting, the owners are amazing and very personable and the food is simply amazing and creative. I love how they use whole ingredients and the flavors show. Will be trying the rest of the menu when we return for the holidays!! Even if you're not vegan you definitely should still check it out. FUBU!

You order online hosted by hot plate and pick up at your scheduled time/date at their house. I ordered it but someone else picked up around 2 hours later. You get an automated text when it's ready and you text when you're there. For special requests, you can call/text the number as well; he was pretty helpful and responsive and mentioned to my brother in law that he personally made sure everything had no alliums at pick up. As a note: my family consists of allium-free vegetarians (with one vegan) so we asked ahead of time what our options were before we went for it. He (I really should have gotten his name) gave us a list of rolls that could be made allium free and we chose from them so you could say they do have an allium free menu upon request. We pretty much got almost everything on his list. For 5 adults, we ordered a total of 10 rolls: LOW-KEY LOKI (2) CLASSIC SPICY TUNAH (2) NIKCO ROCK N ROLL SPICY MAMI, HOT TAMALE SPICY DRAGON FIRECRACKER (2) When we opened the boxes, it turns out that he included an extra roll of SPICY MAMI, HOT TAMALE as well as a small container of seaweed salad which I thought was really nice of him! Or maybe we spent too much or there's some buy 10 rolls get 1 free promotion I was unaware of, haha. It was an unexpected surprise. I also have 2 kids but one has multiple food allergies and the other one is picky. She wanted a sweet potato roll, but it's not on the menu so we rolled up some seaweed rice rolls for them ahead of time so they weren't left out. I didn't bring up my kids because we wanted to ease in with the allium free request and go from there. Plus, one of the food allergens is avocado and that was found in almost every roll. On that note, there's an option to make it gluten-free on each item's page, which is pretty awesome. There's also an option to use soy paper instead of seaweed and to add extra ingredients at additional cost. My family shared everything so my plate was a mix and I honestly lost track of what I was eating at the time for personal notes. But honestly? Everything was delicious. Sushi was the last thing I gave up before becoming vegetarian and I'm picky with the sushi I eat now. These are very good and I must say if I lived in Houston, I'd order again. I do wish there was a place to sit or picnic nearby, but this worked as well. (We all congregated at a house.) There was one roll that definitely had a kick to it. Oddly enough, SPICY MAMI was not it. My nose tends to run with spicy food and I didn't get to that point but it was close after that one spicy piece. Overall, a great experience. Our rolls were $8 to $17 each, 8 pieces per roll. It was around $27.20 per person before tips and tax/fees from hot plate ($7.35). They were nicely packed complete with edible orchid flowers, and personal cups of ginger and wasabi as well as chopsticks and soy sauce packets. We finished everything. This certainly wasn't cheap but when is sushi affordable enough to be a daily thing? I do wish there weren't service fees added on top, but I guess the platform needs support too. Delicious and something to try whether or not you're vegan. I hope to order again our next time in town. Many thanks to the chef for the excellent experience and his help!

However, the flavor of the tacos were A1. Chicken Chikn Alfredo sub Oyster Mushrooms- 7.5/10 because NO EXPLOSION OF FLAVOR. It was INSIPID. Philly Steak Sub sub Oyster Mushrooms with KORNY SAUCE- 7/10. It lacked flavor AND there was barely enough mushrooms for how big the sandwich bread was. It's tucked away in Midtown and makes for a perfect quick stop, especially if you're about to hop on 59 or 288 south from the Webster Street ramp. I recently swung by on my way to work and grabbed an iced oatmilk flat white. It was smooth, well-balanced, and exactly what I needed to start the day. They've got plenty of other tempting options--both sweet and savory--so whether you're in the mood for a quick pastry or a full-on indulgence, they've got you covered. I've had the banana bread cinnamon roll and some of the "pop tarts" always a solid choice. Never have tried the meatless kolaches but I've heard good things in the past. Friendly staff, chill vibe, and everything is vegan. Definitely a spot that deserves more of my morning routine.

Crumbville is such a unique bakery and record shop with a beautiful atmosphere and positive vibe…read more It has an old school Third Ward feel, but also reflects a contemporary mindset. I read somewhere that the bakery is set to close soon and wanted to share a few thoughts regarding how important this bakery is, not only to my original childhood neighborhood, but the city itself. What I love: how the building looks on the outside and inside; the owner is very kind, friendly and eager to converse with visitors; and the idea that you can purchase an album by The Jungle Brothers, David Axelrod, Andre 3000, De La Soul or D'Angelo along with sweet treats from the bakery is just so cool. As a cratedigger who loves buying records, this is just so impressive to me. The great artwork hanging on the walls is another plus. A family member bought a delicious strawberry cake for my birthday a few years back, and that was my first introduction to Crumbville. The owner's decision to offer vegan and gluten free desserts was a smart decision, but she also offers regular baked goods. During my first visit recently, I purchased a strawberry cupcake, which had a lime-flavored cookie base. It was sublime and reminded me so much of the birthday cake from years ago. Service was great here. Overall, I just love this place. It makes me smile, and I will be very sad to see it go.

Yesterday, I had a hankering for a cupcake, and it was rainy so I had zero interest in going anywhere. I found that Crumbville is on the Favor app, so I figured, why not? I ordered the Blueberries & Cream Cheesecake cupcake. Wow, it was liking having a blueberry muffin, with loads of blueberries, and icing on top. It was so good!! I also ordered the Strawberries & Cream Cheesecake, Vanilla Peachy-cob-a-licious and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Snicker Crunch. All of the cupcakes are just so fresh and tasty. They are literally the best I have ever had. I fully plan on stopping in sometime to check out the location. I hear the service is amazing, and I cannot wait to find out!
