Leven Bakery was originally a stop for me to pick up a Too Good To Go order, but I ended up discovering so much more than just baked goods. In addition to the bakery items, they also had a nice selection of drinks and menu items available. I tried the strawberry matcha, and it was good. One thing to note is that it wasn't sweetened, but if you prefer a sweeter drink, you may want to ask for sweetener or add your own. For baked goods, I got the turmeric lemon tea cake, cowboy cookies, and oaty peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Everything was delicious, and I loved being able to try such a variety of flavors. Stopped at Leven to try their matcha and check out their study space. The cafe is spacious and has lots of natural light. I stayed for a few hours to study during finals, but ended up leaving because it was really cold inside! The matcha latte was decent and the chicken salad sandwich was filling. I thought their chicken salad sandwich was creative because it was served with a variety of pickled vegetables that brought some nice acidity to the creamy chicken salad. Overall, I thought this was a nice spot, but don't think it offers anything particularly unique to the Houston cafe scene. read more

Met a friend for coffee and breakfast. This bakery has gluten free items. Neither my friend or I am gluten free, but we like the food and coffee. Never crowded in the AM. Ample parking. Place your order at the counter and they bring out your coffee and food. The restaurant does a good job with food preparation - all looks very good, but it does take time to prepare. It possibly took 12-15 minutes or so to bring our food - but no concerns. The food was very good (it always is). Tried the burrito but without the potatoes and avocado - excellent! I returned to Leven once again as this place is by my ENT doctor, and I always stop by this place since it's the only totally gluten free place that I know of at least near the places I go to. I got the French toast, the Leven Classic, chocolate chip cookies (so good), a slice of pumpkin pie, a cinnamon roll, and a lemon-lavender tea cake slice. It wasn't all for me, haha. I was getting it to go. The staff is always so nice at Leven. They always welcome me when I arrive and also when I'm ordering. The restaurant is always clean and just has a relaxing vibe to it, so I didn't mind waiting for my food. I didn't even have to wait long. Everything was so delicious, and everyone enjoyed their food even my very picky daughter who claimed she didn't like French toast. She loved the Leven French toast though! Checked out this place since I was in the neighborhood and I really liked it! The ambiance is warm and inviting, tons of seating to catch up with friends or work remote. Their food is also delicious as well, I got the Leven Classic and I was impressed! The beef sausage patty was delicious and filled with so much flavor. Finding a place that's completely gluten free was a major gem! They also offer coffee and you can get some work done daily until 9pm. Still enjoyed a few bites but I look forward to trying their other pretty baked goods! The sweet potato noodles (like a Korean japchae dish), which were full of flavor and so beautiful with the vegetable sprouts on top! Since it was too salty for me, I mixed it with steamed white rice and it was tasty :) The mushrooms were super umami-- delicious! I came here after the doctor and it was just okay. I got one of the little snack boxes to go. The hummus was spicy so my child couldn't eat it. The eggs were weirdly boiled like halfway between medium and hard. and then the vegetables were kind of soggy and sad. Overall it was $13 for something that was not $13. I've been buying Leven cookies at other coffe houses and a few farmers market. I didn't realize they opened their own bakery and cafe a year ago. Today was our first visit and we got there just in time. As soon as we stood in front of the register a line formed behind us. We enjoyed a few coffee drinks, I went with my first visit standard of a hot cappuccino wit' 2 splendas, my wife got a mocha house roast iced wit' coconut milk. We scored a couple cowboy cookies and a 12 ounce bag of mexican coffee beans roasted by Leven. It's a large space with lots of seating and goodies. read more

I was in the restaurant picking up my order and you know I've never really investigated gluten-free food but this place, It looked so tempting and they had one of my favorite dishes. What's not pictured here is I also got an espresso andd on my 3rd stop I got a slice of quiche that comes with a side salad 10/10. I have celiac (strict gluten-free), and I'm vegetarian, and have had positive experiences each time I have went! The service is friendly, and as someone with celiac, it is reassuring to know that I can basically eat everything on the menu as everything here is gluten-free. I do believe they use oats or oat flour in some dishes, and try to use gluten-free oats, but I would recommend asking about that if you have particular sensitivity with oats. The ambiance is very casual, cozsy, also with many outlets along the wall if you're trying to get some work done while enjoying some food and coffee. My favorite dishes so far have been the grilled cheese sandwich on their french bread with creamy tomato soup, and their smoky eggplant dip with superseed crackers. The grilled cheese is absolutely delicious, the tomato soup is creamy, and the eggplant dip has wonderful smoky flavor with a side of excellent superseed crackers. I plan to get these items multiple times in the future. Their mocha latte is quite good. The brussel sprouts were cooked well with a good sauce, though I personally would have enjoyed a bit more seasoning on them. We didn't know until we had our food that it was gluten free -- we were just looking for a place to study and get some work done. It's pretty calm, came around 4:30pm? Chef has brought that culture to the concept at Leven B&C. The food is thoughtful, intentional, healthy and packed full of textures and subtle flavors. The CHESSY EGGS ON TOAST was addictive. The eggs were perfectly fluffy and the toast was crisp and satisfying. The GRAIN BOWL was a delightful way to get complex carbs in and the presentation was gorgeous. I felt genuinely good at the end of my meal. Coffee & Tea menu is beautiful and their baristas are skilled at what they do. Syrups are made in-house. I ordered a latte with mushroom power and it came out at the perfect temperature with beautiful micro foam. They are currently using Purity coffee beans which are a high-standard organic coffee company. The ambiance is classy-casual and so is the service. This is a counter service spot that has a bit of refinement to it. My absolute favorite thing about Leven B&C is their commitment to vulnerability and transparency. Their entire ingredient list is available on their website, which is such a breath of fresh air for the health-conscious and food sensitive. For anyone who is celiac and has anxiety about eating out places, this place is perfect! I was diagnosed with celiac over a decade ago and have not gotten a meal at a restaurant or bakery in nearly 6 years because I would routinely get "glutened". I had grown used to the routine of going out with coworkers or friends and watching everyone else eat while I had a glass of water. However, I have been able to eat at Leven with no issues (I don't even have to mention that I'm celiac) which has been an incredible experience. The burger is fantastic and all of the baked goods (especially the coffee cake) are great and are not crumbly and dry like most GF food. I have taken many of my friends here who are not celiac or gluten free and they have said that the food is great as well. The atmosphere is lively and the service has always been wonderful. My wife and I had always been curious about how gluten free bakes would taste. To satisfy our curiosity, my youngest daughter brought half a dozen oatmeal raisins cookies to try. The cookies actually tasted like high end cookies. The oatmeal taste was on point. The texture of the cookies was different, crumble in pieces easily.
