If you want a perfect classic HK style bakery, this is the place to be. Any time I'm in Houston, I have to come here. Every single item I've had here is a wonder. The egg tarts, chicken puffs, coconut tarts, pineapple buns, sticky rice dumplings, all of it are excellent. They're baked with so much care and the crust is so flaky with the filling being light and perfectly flavored. All in all, one of the best bakeries I've ever been to and a must see spot any time I'm in Bellaire.

Eggcellent Egg Tarts!!! I love egg tarts and a friend told us about this place. They make the egg tarts fresh. When we got there even at a late afternoon they were baking fresh ones. We got them right out of the oven. Bring cash if you can, they have a credit fee. Great customer service and quick. There are some tables indoors.

The best egg tarts you'll find The Order: egg tarts! What hit: egg tarts are hot and fresh. The flavor is perfect and the inside is so soft! The bad: it's unhealthy to have too much.

First time coming to this place and try their eck tart! It was so fluffy and delicious!!! It was late afternoon and I'm sure it's been out since they baked but that was still that good! We tried mochi and Japanese cheese cake and they were all good! Love to be back again! One thing I can point out is that Inside the store is not that inviting since it's quite messy there with all kind of items. Other than that, it was good. Keep up the good work and service! :) Cheers

I first had their egg tarts 7 years ago and they are still just as good as I remembered. I'm from New York and I made a goal to come again for their egg tarts and mango mochi. The egg tarts are not as sweet with a very flakey crust. They came out warm Come early because once they sell out they are done for the day. I was there close to 3pm and got a dozen but soon after they had to turn away customers because they were sold out. The display case may look empty but you just have to ask if they have any more items left. The mango mochi was also good. So soft and chewy!

The egg tarts here are crazy. I'm so glad my friend and her family who are Houston locals and have vetted so many different bakeries before concluding that ECK Bakery has the best egg tarts. Their Chinese name (蛋挞王) translates to "Egg Tart King" because they know. The interior is nothing impressive. It's the epitome of what a no-frills Chinese bakery looks like. There's not a huge selection of pastries (they do have coconut tarts and Taishan-style zong zi), but our focus was really on the egg tarts. Initially, we bought half a dozen to share among the five of us. My first bite of the egg tart made me smile before a small chuckle of joy. The tart was crispy, flaky, and buttery, and the custard had the perfect creamy and silky texture with an almost floral-like flavor. The butter was simply oozing in every bite. There was nothing wrong with this egg tart. I have no critiques. It was literally the most perfect egg tart I've eaten. It's also not too sweet. Seriously, I've never had an egg tart this good in the US. I went back an hour later to buy another half dozen to bring home. Even a couple days later, it still tasted the same when I first had it (after baking it for 3 minutes at 350F with my air-fryer). I highly recommend checking this bakery out and buying their egg tarts. They might be $2 per egg tart, but who cares, lol. I really should have purchased a whole dozen.

I've been coming to ECK Bakery for a while now, and every visit is a reminder of why this place is a hidden gem. The egg tarts are what keep me coming back--they're fresh, warm, and perfectly silky with a flaky crust that hits every time. They're made fresh daily, and once they sell out, that's it for the day--so come early if you want to snag some! The interior has a small area that displays the pastries and where you walk up to order. There is no seating and is just a place to pick up pastries and head out. This time, I also picked up a wife cookie, BBQ pork pastry, and a pineapple bun--all of which were delicious in their own right. The wife cookie had that perfect balance of chewy and crumbly, the pork pastry had a flavorful, savory filling wrapped in soft, golden pastry, and the pineapple bun had a sweet, crunchy top that was super satisfying. Bonus tip: bring cash--they do accept cards, but it's smoother and sometimes quicker to pay with cash. ECK is consistent, reasonably priced, and delivers that nostalgic bakery feel every time. If you love traditional Chinese pastries, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

Heard that this place was known for their mango mochi, and it definitely didn't disappoint. It was so good and fresh I loved it. I went around noon and was scared there wasn't going to be any leftover, but thankfully I was able to snag some. The worker was very nice and helpful. If you were to come by I recommend the mango mochi!!!

Flaky. Soft. Buttery. Sweet. Goodness that just melts in your mouth. This is hands down the BEST egg custard tart I've EVER had in my LIFE!!! And I grew up eating these; my favorite childhood dessert! ECK for 'Egg Custard King' is a well deserved title. I brought my friend here today for her first time after hyping it up so much, and she whole-heartedly agrees. They are currently going for $2 each. If you pay with credit card instead of cash, there will be a small surcharge. I got 4, and paid $8.20 with card. I will need to come back and try their other items like Patê Sô, and their fluffy japanese cheesecake. Everything is so cheap!

I had to come see what the hype was all about. I went in for a single dan tat/egg custard tart and now $2 and 15 minutes later I'm thinking I should've bought a box. Mine was fresh out of the oven. It hadn't even reached the display case. The custard was hot and silken and faintly sweet. The pastry was so buttery and perfectly crisp and flakey. I'm probably in the minority saying this but I would like it just a bit sweeter than it was. I've baked these before at home and they are a serious labor of love in the kitchen. Regardless of personal preference, ECK has really honed their craft and their egg custards are delicious!

    So much to choose from

Eck Bakery is a Houston Bellaire institution when it comes to Cantonese style egg tarts. This is a no frills bakery that simply makes their pastries to perfection. Not too sweet and the flakiest crust, perfect. Service wise, come early if possible because they will sell out on most days. They used to be cash only, but thankfully they accept credit card now for a small processing fee. Personally, if I'm ever short on time for making food for a potluck, I'll just grab a couple dozen eggs tarts and mango mochi to bring instead. Everyone is happy whenever they come here. Egg tarts, mango mochi, and barbeque pork puffs are all you need in life. 10/10 would recommend this bakery, enjoy!

The egg tarts here are probably some of the best I've ever had. Creamy but not overwhelming, buttery but not too fatty, and layers were so crispy but light. I ended up buying more to bring on my flight home because they were just that good. We got there relatively early, and they were fresh and still slightly warm. This place is definitely a gem, I'm so glad we came! The other items they sold looked good too, but I'll definitely be back for the egg tarts.

Looking for rice cakes, the original old fashioned ones that are steamed and actually rise. Hard to find anywhere, please anyone have info?

If you mean the sweetened white rice cake (白糖糕). They are usually sold at bakeries in most Chinatowns.

If I end up there around 4:30 or 5:00, will they run out of custard tarts? A lot of the ones around me don't make it after a certain time in the afternoon. Thanks!

How many calories are there in each egg tart?

Does this place sell jiggly cheesecake? If not anyone know where I can find some?

This place does not sell jiggly cheesecake. It does sell Japanese cheesecake that is slightly lighter than the regular American cheesecake, but it's not jiggly.

Where can I find butter tarts?

I don't know about butter tarts - they carry egg tarts that are delicious though. Go in and request them. Sometimes they are sold out or you have to wait for a fresh batch.

I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. The soft drinks to drink along with your sweets are in a cold case along the hotel side of the space and you just take them to the register as you order. One of the most surprising things when you come here are the relatively affordable prices as you might expect them to be more for being a coffee shop attached to a 5-star hotel with a helipad.

What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service. The only niggling items, parking can be tough, so you'll have to either walk a block or be quick to find a place close by. Regardless, definitely give this place a go to come for a pastry and coffee.
