A decent coffee shop I'd say. They are attached to A CBD shop and they have CBD lattes and drinks available. I got the salted brown miso caramel latte iced. It was good nothing out of this world. I also got a plain iced latte. Also good. Nice espresso imo. Parking is a PAIN. Would not come during busy times of the day.

He walked into a space that is connected to a cannabis store. At first, it threw me off, but they are not together. You can order just coffee and that is what I did. I ordered a 12 ounce latte with almond milk and extra cinnamon powder. You get to pick what roast you would like today they had a medium roast blend or a single roast light. The blunt was great and I got hints of berries. Overall espresso was very smooth and a great experience drinking a latte.

Such a cute spot! I loved how it was a coffee shop connected to a CBD shop and both spaces were very nicely decorated. I had heard good things about their matcha and I got the honey lavender matcha to try. The matcha quality was fine in my opinion, however, there was too much honey and not enough lavender flavor for my liking. Overall, my drink was okay. It was a nice space to catch up with friends and I could definitely see myself studying here if I wake up early enough to grab a parking spot and seating. The parking is limited and so this is more of a grab and go place. This is a great place to get some drinks after doing some hot yoga at the black swan near by.

Grinders Coffee Bar is located right in the heart of the Kirby/Rice Village area. It's next to Smoothie King off of Kirby Dr. This was the first time we had been and we each ordered a drink and food item. Parking: Parking is very limited here. They have 3 spots in front of the store and a couple of spots on the side of the store so be cautious of that when trying to park here. There seems to be parking along the side street near the store. Ambiance: Grinder is connected to The CBD Apothecary so some of their coffees and drinks have options to add CBD. The inside is nice and modern. There are 3 small tables inside and a small bar area so seating is limited here. The CBD store has its own bar area which I think you can sit at if you order a drink from Grinders. Drinks: my girlfriend got an iced vanilla latte and I got the Strawberry Kiss which is a strawberry matcha drink. My girlfriend said her drink was good but not the best she's had. My matcha drink was also good and had good matcha flavor but not the best matcha drink I've had. I did see them preparing the matcha in the traditional whisking method so I appreciated that! Food: we got a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast taco and a sausage and egg empanada. Both food items were good but we liked the empanada better. They both came with a side of green salsa for the taco and an chimichurri sauce for the empanada. The food was honestly better than the drinks we ordered. Grinders is a solid coffee shop. Try their empanadas and enjoy the variety of drinks on the menu!

Omg! I had no idea that this was the OG location before the Wild locations! Super friendly staff and they are willing to give great recommendations! I got the honey lavender (hot) and a steak and potato empanada! Empanada was so big and FILLING and ONLY $7! The only con is parking can be a nightmare lol- I was lucky!

Service service and service! It's on point for Grinders Coffee. This doesn't take away from their drinks just gives it the extra touch. I ordered an iced americano and asked about seasonal. I was delighted by a marshmallow latte topped with a toasted bite. The process was smooth and the baristas skills showed. Additionally the pastries/cookies were a chocolaty delight. The snickerdoodle was a chunky spiced goodness as the chocolate based cookie with nuts was great. Also next door or rather an open doorway away is a convenient CBD shop...which means it's an option on their drink menu as well. We didn't partake but for anyone interested it's ideal. I recommend adding this as a Houston coffee stopping point.

I am completely enamored with this coffee shop. This place is genuinely such a gem to find. I got the Chocolate Diesel with the caramel foam...one of the top ten drinks I've EVER sipped on. The kind baristas were so chill, and they even explained what they have on the menu. I pray that this place is forever prosperous and money long.

Had a friend introduce me to this place and I'm so happy she did. Although I was not able to try the CBD options the original coffee and strawberry matcha was delicious.

MORNING BLISS Sunlight. Foam. Crispy layers. Peace. I stopped in for a treat and was not disappointed. The service? Warm and welcoming. The coffee? My "Honeybun" was creamy, dreamy, and just the right touch of sweet. And this croissant? Buttery, flaky, crispy delicious with that savory sausage tucked inside. Highly recommend starting your day here. There's something about sipping by the window as the sun hits just right Small café vibes, BIG flavor energy. #HoneybunLatte #CozyCornerCafé #PastryLoversUnite #SunlitSips #BurcieApproved

I was recommended Grinders by a friend who said their matcha was the best in town. I decided to give it a shot. The parking was tight and tricky (especially to pull out) when I arrived, they unfortunately let me know ahead of time that they unfortunately were out of matcha. The CBD store connected is associated with Wild. Which I believe it's also has its own coffee chain, and wish they were more upfront of their association with it. I got a chai tea with two shots, after tip it was a total of $10. It was an alright drink, I couldn't finish it and I tend to finish my drinks as soon as I sit down. Other than that, the places was cute, clean, well kept and the employees were communicative and friendly.

Grinders the coffee shop brand of the parent company Wild. They make a solid cup of coffee! They are my favorite place to get coffee. I think they use the Amaya brand for their coffees. I usually get a oat milk latte but occasionally I'll explore and try one of their seasonal creations. Theh also have an assortment of pastries available along with vegan options! This location is one part coffee shop and the other part sells various thc products and the associated products that go along with it. There is also an option to order online for your drink is ready when you get there!

But for the parking situation (limited spaces and adjacent street parking is by permit only), this would be a 5 star spot. Really diverse menu with fantastic seasonal drinks, and a food menu that was really good. The empanadas are absolutely huge (2 of them fed three of us quite well).

I got a strawberry kiss matcha and a matcha with sugar free vanilla and both were so good! I also got a goat cheese croissant that I really enjoyed. The employee was kind and friendly. I'll definitely be back!

The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! Loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat!

Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.

Parking can be tight depending on the time/day. This location feels like it has more indoor seating and a better patio than The Heights which is more exposed to the outdoor elements off the trails. I couldn't remember if I'd been here before until old photos I posted showed. I'm used to The Heights location which is closer to me. It's been about 5 years when I first moved to the loop that I went here with a friend. I had the OG Brussels sprouts which were my favorite when they still had Benjy's in Rice Village. It was a staple for 25 years. They closed in 2020 to expand Local Foods. Pretty bummed because Benjy's was great and had an amazing pecan-crusted goat cheese appetizer with pita. It had more of a cocktail lounge vibe that my friends and I would frequent back in grad school for HH. They had another location off Washington, but that is also closed and is now Forget Me Not. Anyways, the Brussels sprouts were amazing, and I always loved them. I'm glad that Local Foods occasionally features it as a special. I usually gravitate towards the crunchy chicken sandwich. The pretzel bun is everything, and the filling is loaded. If you have a bit allergy, this is not for you. It has pecans in them. I like the added potato chips, too. This time I tried the tacos de camote which was a sweet potato taco. I couldn't find any photos of it on this Yelp page, but I've had sweet potato tacos before in Scottsdale and was hooked. I didn't expect two large wedges on sweet potato lodged in a taco shell. It was delicious and carmelized. You could hear the crunchy outside texture. Loved that. What I didn't love was the difficulty of eating it. The wedges were huge, and the sweet potato was too hot and steamy. It would've been better had they been diced. The pumpkin seed mixture was good but too spicy with the jalapeños. I like spicy food but didn't expect that. The tacos needed salsa or crema to cut through the heat. I picked off the jalapeños and fork and knifed the sweet potato after a few bites with the taco shell. The taco itself is a blue nixtamilized corn tortilla. It held up the taco filling fairly well considering the huge wedge of sweet potato. It also dripped the oil off the sweet potato. I couldn't taste much of the refried beans. I liked these tacos, but it was a little too spicy and didn't have the acid it needed to make it better. I ate the sweet potatoes and nixed the tortillas. As for the sides, I usually get the kale salad because theirs doesn't taste like dirt. Lol. They add enough lemon, pine nuts, golden raisins and Parmesan cheese to make it taste better. I could eat a bowl of that. It's always served in a tiny container. I also get their homemade potato chips. It's dusted with Old Bay seasoning. It can be oily at times, though. This time, I tried a seasonal side of strawberries that was recommended by the guy at the register. It was delicious. The strawberries were soaked in a slightly sweet simple syrup with chopped basil. They have a variety of lemonades, tea, fountain drinks, cocktails and refrigerated beverages to choose from. Lemonade can be too sweet, so I dilute it with ice and water. I like that it's open with the cups and plastic to-go cups if that's your preference. I've always enjoyed what Local Foods offers and like that they offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Service is friendly, and it's a nice, casual place to dine in or on the patio.

Brad, my nephew, who is not a foodie, wanted to pick a restaurant that was reasonably close to all of us. He decided on Hungry's in the village. I said fine only because I wanted to take Melvin out and food was not the important criteria. Ok, about the restaurant. In a word, the food was in the pedestrian class of places that I would have picked. Looking at the menu beforehand I looked for something that the restaurant couldn't screw up. My three choices were Meatloaf with mash potatoes and green beans, Chicken Fried Steak with mash potatoes and green beans, and Chicken Pot Pie with yes you guessed it. Melvin went for the meatloaf, Brad chose a meat and chicken kabob that I hope was better than it looked, and my wife, a.k.a.,Love Muffin chose the trout that was smothered with Pineapple salsa and other stuff Personally, I don't like food that is smothered in anything. The food, as I expected, was mediocre. The waitstaff were very friendly, polite, and came right away after noticing all our waving hands that were visible over a lot of empty tables. It's not fine dining but if you have a large family and a budget, you can't go wrong with Hungry's for dinner.
