Chowder no longer has flavor (skimping on clam base) and price is now $9.50 for what looks like an even smaller cup. Fries were cool in center and bread was smashed down. Swordfish was not seasoned. $101 for 2 lunches and 2 cocktails!! Service and view great but we will go elsewhere. read more

I felt a bit underdressed stopping at Dorn's for dinner after a long day of kayaking, but the Dorn's servers could not have been more sweet! We were sat at a beautiful table overlooking Morro Bay rock. The chillier day got us this seat with minimal wait. They serve the most delicious sourdough bread to start. I ordered the linguine with clams and it hit the spot to carb load after activity. I was fairly intimidated coming into such a nice place dressed so down, but felt incredibly welcomed and would highly recommend! read more

We enjoyed Dorn's when traveling from So Cal to Nor Cal on the road. I'd recommend this place for having a diverse menu with something for everyone and decent prices and portions which are good. If traveling through town, I'd say this is a very reliable place to visit. read more

All the years my parents talked about this place I was really hoping that it would live up to on my wedding anniversary. No such luck. Our food was under seasoned overcooked and frankly Long John Silver makes better food. They were fully staffed but never got a refill for the drinks and took forever to pay our bill. The restaurant was very clean as were the restrooms and the view from the deck is second to noon. That doesn't make up for the lack of quality for the food. read more

Dorn's has been a family favorite for decades. It's hard to beat the scenic views of the Rock and cost as Dorn's sits above move of its competitors. The bathroom remodel and new layout is a welcomed change. The food was delicious as unusual. My biggest complaint about Dorn's is their bar. There never seems to be any consistency in the way they pour their mixed drinks. Sometimes it's so weak you wonder if they forgot the booze and others so strong you can't do more than one. We were told we had to wait 20 minutes for a table which we were okay with so we sat at the bar. we sat there for 10 minutes and the bar tender refused to make eye contact with us but did with the people sat around us. another member of staff at the bar stared at us multiple times and offered no service. people Who were just walking in we're getting served immediately during this time It was full of local people so we were very excited to eat her which was disappointing Hopefully with was rare occurrence here as it did seem lovely read more

Had breakfast here and both food and service was excellent. I am planning on going there for dinner there this week.

Stopped in at 7:30pm for a late dinner. Artichoke heart appetizer and Ahi appetizer were excellent! Hot sourdough bread was perfect. Clam chowder soup and shrimp Louie salad were amazing. View would have been as great as the food but it was dark. Will definitely be making the trip back to Morro Bay to eat here read more

Totally solid breakfast spot. I really liked the fish and eggs breakfast I had. While I like bacon as much as the next guy, it's not super good for you and I also really like fish. So blacked sole + breakfast fixings is a winning combo. You don't see it a ton but when I lived in Hawaii it was somewhat more available. read more

Delicious, fresh seafood! We enjoyed our dinner at Dorn's. We started with fresh oysters and crispy zucchini sticks. Large wedges of zucchini were lightly coated in a crunchy cornmeal batter. The bowl of clam chowder was creamy and chunky. All of our fish dishes were cooked perfectly. My blackened swordfish was topped with Pico de Gallo and avocado. Yum! My husband's snapper was light and flaky. The crispy seafood combo was so good-crispy and tender. We sat outside on the patio for my poodle and the view was beautiful. Beautiful view. Delicious food. Nice service. A bit of a wait for a Tuesday evening but totally worth it. They don't take reservations so put your name in then walk around a bit. I love that they serve you fresh baked sourdough upon seating. They have a decent selection of cocktail specials. I decided on a margarita and my hubby got an IPA. We ordered zucchini sticks as our appetizer. The dish came out with thickly grated Parmesan cheese. The zucchini was lightly battered and the outer coating was crisp. So good. My hubby ordered the fried Seafood Combo but replace the chips for a salad. My son ordered calamari and chips. I ordered fried calamari and replaced the chips for fresh veggies. I got garlic buttered Brussels sprouts and squashes. I loved the freshness and light flavor. The fried dishes were all great! Lightly battered and not heavy or greasy. My husband loved the combination of seafood. He really enjoyed the scallops the best. My daughter ordered the pasta pomodoro. She loved the sauce! The pasta she was said was a little mushy. This is a wonderful seafood restaurant. The food is excellent and there is much to choose from. They also include delicious sourdough bread like the old days. Restaurants that don't provide bread are not good. The decor is really nice and cosy. Huge salad with shrimp that we split. Both the scallops and sandals were perfect. Based upon other reviews, we stopped in for breakfast. The restaurant is well appointed, staff were friendly and attentive, restrooms clean. However, the omelettes were extremely disappointing. The egg of the omelette was as thin as a crepe. My omelette was floating in grease and after about 6 bites, I just could not bring another bite of the greasy crepe like egg into my system. We were staying in Morro Bay for 3 nights, and we found other places for breakfast. It was so bad that we didn't even want to try dinner there. We did find a great breakfast in Cambria - Linn's Restaurant. Omelets are supposed to be fluffy, not paper thin like a crepe. read more

However, the kitchen needs to pay more attention to the food: the steak was good and hot but the two side dishes (green beans & red potatoes) were luke warm to even cool in spots. I've only been there for Saturday brunch. It takes a while to get seated so be prepared to wait at least half an hour. Our teen boys ordered ham and cheese omelets with a side of pancakes. The side was actually 3 huge pancakes, which my boys loved. I got the huevos rancheros. They were a little bland. I tried using hot sauce and they were better. Then I realized my son's had gotten pico de gallo with their omelets. I used that and the huevos rancheros went from just OK to delicious. My husband got the fish and chips, which are always good. I only give them 4 stars because the fries with the fish and chips are average at best. The huevos rancheros were bland and needed some help. The service isn't great, the servers are busy and don't have much time to check back in with you. Dorn's isn't perfect but it's still very good. read more

Not sure why this place is so popular. Every time we're in Morro Bay we'll go by, sometime we'll eat at Dorns. And it is packed. Every table is occupied. Every time. But the place is so so average. The wine list is pitiful. The menu is boring. The food is so-so. And the place is packed. We've eaten here multiple times, so I know all this to be true. It must be that, in Morro Bay, there just aren't any good restaurants, so this overpriced, average food is the best to be had. I wish I knew. read more
