My husband and I went to check out Doppio Zero in Campbell per a recommendation from a family member. I made reservations for noon on a Sunday because I was concerned that the farmer's market would draw in a large crowd. The place wasn't too busy, though, so walk-ins would've been totally fine. I found the restaurant to be beautiful and modern but felt casual. Great service. Our server, Valeria, was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated her guidance on the menu. Bonus points for her attentiveness during the entire lunch. The food came out in a timely manner as well. We shared the calamari and shrimp appetizer, Marechiaro pasta, and Provola E Pepe pizza. The food was just OK overall. The fried calamari and shrimp were lightly battered and seasoned. I did like the marinara dipping sauce, which had a bright, fresh taste. Other than the fact that it came with shrimp, there wasn't really anything special with this appetizer. I felt like you could get this anywhere. I also thought that the pieces were fried 30 seconds too long because the texture was rubbery. Doppio Zero boasts having a Michelin star for its pizza and being in the top 50 of best pizzerias in the world. Either the Michelin Guide is losing its touch, or this place didn't deserve one to begin with. My husband and I both thought it was pedestrian. Sure, the pizza was flavorful and uniquely tasty (i.e. the smoked mozzarella), but I couldn't stand the crust. I love Neopolitan style pizza as much as the next person, but the crust was paper thin. I wanted to pick up my pizza without all the toppings sliding off. It was such a sloppy hot mess even eating it with a fork and knife. Furthermore, many parts of the crust were charred, and I hated the taste of the burnt edges. Are these the standards for Michelin Star these days? The Marechiaro pasta was excellent - 5 out of 5. If I were to come back to Doppio Zero, it would be for this dish. The squid ink tagliolini were perfectly al dente. They weren't overly fishy, which was nice because sometimes squid ink noodles can be overpowering. Loved the spicy tomato sauce, and there was a good amount of clams and scallops. read more

I love the aesthetic and the food! You're greeted with an open floor plan with a nice bar and outdoor seating. The price for Happy Hour is amazing. The food is excellent! Gnocchi from the HH menu is a must. The anchovies, Beets Salad and Pizza, House Red wine and Blood Orange Beer should also get honorable mentions. I love this place! I chanced upon this spot when I was walking around the neighborhood a week ago. It was bustling and I made a mental note to come back. I had dinner here last night and was pleasantly surprised. The ravioli and fungo pizza were excellent! The pizza is apparently inspired by Naples which coincidentally I just read is the best food town in the world. My husband and I came here for a date night and enjoyed our meal! Everything was fresh and flavorful and so tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had our work lunch here and had a great time. They were able to accommodate our party of 12 easily with a reservation. We also saw another work outing happening at the same time so def a good option to consider. We shared a few pizzas and appetizers. I had another amazing meal. The bread tasted so good. I love dipping it in their infused chili oil. I got the pizza margharita again. The crust is nice and billowy and melts in your mouth. Their pizza takes me back to my childhood, a bit reminiscent of our local Guido's restaurant on South Bascom (run by an Italian guy). Unfortunately a disappointing long-awaited first visit to Doppio Zero in Campbell for my birthday dinner. Firstly, the space is gorgeous and the dining room is large and airy. There is also outdoor seating. On a weekday early evening, it wasn't busy and we were seated immediately without a reservation (which we attempted but we're not able to get online). Initial service was attentive. We ordered 3 apps - the broccolini, artichokes, and olives. We specified we do not eat dairy, and got cheese removed from one dish. The artichokes were excellent! The broccolini would have been much better if it didn't arrive cold. We did have to ask for bread, though it appeared they were bringing it to several other tables. The meal went downhill quickly after that. Husband got the vegan pizza and I got the vegan ravioli. When they brought it, it had a creamy sauce that DID NOT look vegan. I asked the staff if this was vegan and they confidently said yes. I checked the menu and the vegan ravioli has tomato sauce, which I had to point out to them. They agreed to "swap out" my dish for the correct one, though acted as though they were doing me a favor and I had ordered wrong. Husband liked the pizza enough (it was bland but crust was good), and asked for crushed red pepper. They did not understand what this was ("fresh pepper?"), and then after going to look for it, told us they had run out. He finished his meal while I was still waiting for my dish to be remade (dining room was maybe half full). Husband wanted to get a latte, but they were ready to bring us the bill. Didn't ask us about bringing a dessert menu at all. It seemed like they were rushing us out of there. Couldn't get the latte since there was no nondairy milk. We ended up giving our leftovers to an unhoused person we encountered on the way back to the car, so that was the most redeeming quality of the evening. read more

No olive oil or balsamic vinaigrette and the ambience in general felt draining and exhausting like an old towel that needs a life. My husband and another couple went in a Thursday evening for dinner. We sat outside. I can recommend the food we all enjoyed our meals. We started with a small pizza to share and would definitely come back for the pizza alone. I had the Boar Fettuccine and it was delicious. My husband had the branzino and he said it was also very good. Definitely would order again. However I can't see us going back to eat inside. When I went to the restroom it was beyond loud. I mean breathtakingly ear shattering loud. So definitely a repeat restaurant for a nice outside dinning experience but if you're expecting a nice inside experience I would say no. read more

We had 3 pizzas and we all enjoyed the flavors but with each bite you kept tasting the burnt dough. Sat down at 5:30 for dinner. Walked in without a reservation despite having six of us. We ordered a mixture of pizza, branzino and pasta. Food was mediocre. Nothing spectacular but nothing terrible either. The main issue however, was the service. At 6:20 we had just paid for our dinner for six and the waiter walks over to tell us they would like to turn the table and have people waiting. Not only were there other open tables available they could have put together, but to be asked to leave while one of us still had a half glass a wine and we were still talking was ridiculous. Friends and I went to Doppio Zero for lunch on a Saturday evening. We made reservations for 6:30 PM and arrived promptly. This location used to be a Flights restaurant. There was outdoor seating along the front but not on the side, which would have helped since the restaurant is on a corner and there was a line of people waiting to get in. The hostess asked for our name, looked for it, and said she could not find it. She physically turned away and waved us off! Fortunately, the manager was nearby and promptly found us a table. The same hostess seated us and suggested, as we were sitting down, that we must have made the reservation at the wrong location!! A few minutes later, I asked the same hostess if something could be done about the A/C since it was blowing directly on our table, but she shook her head and walked away. She was certainly NOT the hostess with the mostest. In addition, the place was extremely loud. The three of us ended the night with sore throats from having to yell to hear each other. The tables were overcrowded, reminiscent of a mall food court but much louder. Despite the noise, the waiters were prompt, and we sampled a couple of white wines. The white wine selection was not impressive; we all ended up ordering the Frank Family Chardonnay, which was just okay. They seemed to have a better red wine selection. For the food, we ordered the octopus, gnocchi, and the Fichi E Prosciutto pizza. Surprisingly, there was no bread and oil/vinegar, a staple at every Italian dinner table. Although they didn't charge for the bread, they only brought it out after we requested it, and sadly, it was the best part of the meal. The octopus was served as one long tentacle, which was unappetizing and tough to eat. The gnocchi was chewy and doughy. The pizza was no better - the dough was very thin, almost like a roti (Indian bread), with too much cheese and not enough dried figs or prosciutto. We didn't finish it. We were initially charged for the wine samples we had tasted, but the charge was removed when we pointed it out. The bar was nicely set up, the servers were quick, and the saving grace was the manager who found us a table and adjusted the A/C. read more

Added Bonus here is that Happy Hour goes from 4:30 to 6pm from any seat in the house, you don't have to stay in the bar. The happy hour portions are full size which is rare to find. We started with a dish of assorted Olives, you can never go wrong with that. Then a Prosciutto plate....very simple the meat was drizzled with olive oil accompanied by some crustini...very tasty. Lastly we had the Potato Croquettes. They were so rich and decadent it was like a little ball of potato cheesy heaven. Then to make sure you clogged your last good artery there was a Gruyère fondue dipping sauce. To die for delicious. My Hubby got the Nectarine Salad with Shrimp. Very light and refreshing with a nice amount of shrimp. I had the Calabrese Pizza. Just a little bit of spice it was pleasant. I had to add some fresh Chili Oil to kick it up a notch. But I'm a spice lover so for the average person I'm sure the spice would be fine on its own. Doppio Zero made me think I was back on the streets of Rome. I've been to the Concord location and was happy to find out they opened one in Campbell, which is much closer to where I live. Our server was very kind and checked on my table quite frequently. I had a dirty shirley which was perfectly balanced (10/10). The appetizer, truffle french fries (shoestring), were delicious (9/10). I have gotten the Marechiaro multiple times from the Concord location, and the one I had here was a little too salty (8/10). The interior design is beautiful on the inside. Their happy hour is top notch. A large variety of shareable bites, ranging from hearty 6" pizzas and meatballs; healthy beet salad; to crispy truffle fries, and shrimp and calamari. Just for the two of us, my boyfriend and I ordered 6 dishes. The drinks are substantial. Anything that's listed as a drink that comes with a bottle of something else really is two drinks for the price of one. Obviously, that's a deal. Off the happy hour menu, make sure to order the panna cotta. Hands down, that was the most divine panna cotta we've ever had. Smooth. Creamy. Subtly sweet. Generous serving of berries. Though we shared, he and I could've (and should've) ordered two. It was devour-able. We were celebrating my birthday that Thursday, and it was perfect, relaxing dinner. Because my partner loves all things Italian, when I heard Doppio Zero was opening up in Campbell, I knew we would have to give it a try. We came over a weekend. The decor is lovely and of the moment, with black and white floor tiles and large, charming chandeliers casting warm light. The bench seating is covered in a sage green velvet and the tables to match them are a dark wood. There are also white bistro tables near the bar, which is modern and lined with bottles of Campari and other liquors that are lit up from behind and above. The kitchen features an impressive blue and white mosaic wood-fired pizza oven. Service: Just the right amount of attentiveness. We were indoors on a Saturday evening, and it was very loud, so much so that it was difficult to have a conversation. I would not recommend coming here if you plan to do a lot of catching with a friend, though maybe the outdoor dining area is better for that purpose. Food and Drink: I ordered the Porn Star martini (think passion fruit and vanilla liquor). It went down a little too easily, if you know what I mean. Overall, their drinks are gorgeous with floral, fruit, and herb garnishes. The drinks tasted as good as they looked, adding to the dining experience. I ordered the Branzino, and my partner had the margherita pizza, of course. No surprise there-that's his usual order wherever it is available. I sampled a little bit of my partner's pizza, and it was everything you'd hope it would be-thin, crispy crust, bright and fresh tomato sauce, salty proscuitto, and melty mozzarella. It was a heavenly bite, and I would've had more but for my need to avoid dairy. The branzino dish was fantastic, and it made my dairy-avoiding heart happy. I hope they keep this dish on the menu because I would absolutely order this again. The skin of the branzino was crispy, and the fish was well seasoned. It was served with fregola sarda (pasta that's kind of like couscous but larger), Tuscan kale, and an Italian herb sauce. The sides were flavorful and complimented the fish well. Sides are important to me, and I give big kudos to restaurants whose sides are as impressive as the main. Ambiance is nice, everyone that works there is very friendly my, from the time you enter, sit down than leave. That's a plus for us because who doesn't love great customer service food is a little pricy for what you get, but everything we got was pretty flavorful & had its own taste. I am a big fan of the Mountain View location of Doppio Zero so I was very excited to see that another branch was opening up in downtown Campbell. I did visit this location once before about a week or two after they first opened and I will say it was a little shaky. The food was all delicious but the service hadn't quite hit their flow yet. However, having visited again, I can say that this location is now consistent and delicious after having been opened for a few more months. The servers were very attentive and the food was delicious. I tried a couple things I haven't had before and the stand out for me was the Porchetta pizza. It is definitely my new favorite and unlike anything I have had before. It is definitely rich, but that's what I love about it. The interior of this location is stunning as well, very chic and a little more open than the Mountain View location, which feels a little more camped. One of my favorite places to go for a date night or when people are visiting from out of town to show them the great food in the Bay Area. read more
