We've been waiting for a long time to try this place after they postponed opening up for a year! We have came twice so far and each time my husband and I have agreed that their pizza is pretty darn good, probably one of the best around here. Their chocolate cake is also very decadent and moist (highly recommend this). They've nailed their pizzas dishes for sure. I've also gotten their gnocchi which is okay, but not as good as their pizzas. This place is also really great for large parties (they can accommodate larger groups here but you most likely have to reserve this ahead of time). I came for dinner with a friend and had such a pleasant experience. We wanted to take our time and the service was perfect. Super attentive and the pace the food came out was great. Worst experience ever. TLDR: Sat at 8:30pm, the restaurant closes 10pm, they did last call for kitchen at 8:55pm, music and TV off by 9:23pm. In consideration of restaurants/businesses, their time and value and labor costs, we would NEVER go into a restaurant 30 min or 45 min before they close. Having MANY places and options to dine at from San Jose to Santa Clara, we chose Doppio Campbell since they closed at 10pm, which left us with an hour and a half after arriving. Boy were we wrong. We are greeted by a server who speaks too fast, "WELCOMEINTODOPPIOZEROHOWAREYOUDOINGWHATCANIGETFORYOU?" Cool ---We order apps and drinks. Our apps hit the table within 8 minutes. The servers comes back, asks for our entree orders, warning us that the kitchen was doing last call right there and then. 8:52pm. When we waved him over to order a second round of drinks at 9:10pm, he said the bar was doing last call for drinks. We scarfed down our dinner while watching the last four minutes of the Warriors game that they were playing on TV, and they TURNED IT OFF. 9:23pm. Looking around, there were multiple tables in disbelief while they finished their drinks and realizing they had cut off drinks, food, and the TV well before 9:30pm -- including us. We left shortly after 9:30 after asking for our check. The whole "experience" or lack of one felt completely rushed, impersonal, uncomfortable, and not worth any of our money spent. We left hungry since we didn't have enough food but the alternative was to over order just to be safe since we were rushed. Dining there tonight seemed like an inconvenience to them, almost like we were not worth their time and just a quick turn-and-burn for $200 in one hour. I still tipped 18% despite of everything. Our server, although robotic, did check on us multiple times from start to finish. With minimal amount service provided. I received much better service at Lazy Dog last week, LOL. I've met the owner of Doppio on numerous occasions since my days in hospitality over a decade ago and the overwhemingly-friendly gentleman bleeds hospitality from the heart. This does not feel like hospitality nor part of his legacy. Very poor management here. Change your business hour to 9pm for gods sake. Never coming back. Very excited to have this restaurant in Campbell! Pizza here is very good but not sure if it is Michelin star good. Ordered the Margarita pizza and Jalapeño pizza. Crust is delicious and cooked perfectly. Nice amount of sauce. Would have liked a little more cheese on both. Star of the meal were the potato Croquettes with truffle fondue. The fondue was so good that I found myself dipping my pizza crust in what was left of it. Dessert was tiramisu which was ok. And a slice of lemon cake which was excellent. Price was a little high for the dessert. Service was efficient and polite. I appreciate that they have outdoor dining. Looking forward to coming back to try some of the other dishes. read more

This place was a straight-up letdown. The pizza came out undercooked, my pasta noodles were too firm, and the tiramisu? Don't even bother. I wish i took a photo of it, their website shows this beautiful, thick slice of dessert, but what they actually bring to the table is a sad little cup of stale bread chunks with a blob of cream on top. My wife and I seriously thought it was a joke or someone else's order. Even our waitress had that "yeah, I know" look on her face. I I was so disappointed i paid $10 for that, I drove straight to Whole Foods after dinner just to get a real slice of tiramisu, and it absolutely blew theirs out of the water. I got a cocktail - Pornstar. When receiving it, it's spilt on the table and down the stem. Now as I drink it my hands become extremely sticky. The drink ended up separating. Weird yellow on top. Bottarga - The pasta dish was disgusting. Less than 3 bites. The salmon was under cooked. It smelled overly fishy. I put the pasta on the other side of the table. They did not ask me why I didn't eat it. They didn't ask me for a box. I said I did not like it. Then was charged for it. They charge your card at the table. Then it asks with a starting tip of 20%. Been here five times since opening and I'm loving having a nearby Doppio Zero! Here's what's great, I'm a pizza snob and I make my own authentic Neapolitan-style pizza at home. The pizza here is totally on point, I'm quite happy enjoying a basic margarita pizza here as it's totally authentic and flavorful. Love the ample outdoor seating we've never waited long for a table, we went there for my dog's birthday (bit odd I know) and she got two complimentary bread bowls! I only let her eat one of them! We also love the potato croquettes, they're delicious! We'll try more of their menu for sure but the pizza is great! My only moan, I'd like to see more craft beer options. read more

First visit to Doppio for happy hour. From when we ordered to when we got the food took 5 minutes. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Great first impression -Beet salad was great. Nice combo of ingredients -margerita pizza. I understand they have a specific style of dough however the middle of the pizza was soggy and slippery and ingredients fell right off when you picked up a piece. Would skip next time -meatballs were tasty. However for four meatballs and two people should've had more than one piece of toast. Great drinks (one of my favorite espresso martinis) and Italian food, however, they'd be better off with a diversified menu and offer some type of brunch variation since it's just straight Italian lunch and entree options all day with the same set menu. Food still remained superb but this time around the service was horrid... had to ask manager to find out who our server was, Fernanda our server was very junior and had too many tables, appetizer came after entree, one entree was warm on outside but cool on the inside so needed to re-heated, and the appetizer (meatballs) were overall room temp and needed to be reheated. Fernanda was largely absent requiring us to ask others for things like condiments, told the meatballs would be taken off bill but still was on bill, etc. Prior review... Making a reservation online was easy, and we met for dinner. The inside is modern and lovely. The cocktails were gorgeous and the food was all delicious. I don't eat pork, so I wish there were some non-pork alternatives, but we had the Burrata, the gnocchi, and a margarita pizza with added mushrooms, peppers, and fresh arugula. It was delicious. My friend asked for parmesan... Why are you bringing the shaker can of parmesan over to put on your delicious rustic Italian food?!?! PLEASE PLEASE Get fresh parmesan for your food. This business has the rare Italian Verace Pizza Napoletana certification for their Mountain View location, and while this location doesn't comply (at least yet), they make their pizzas according to the same strict standards. This is both a blessing and a curse, as fans of the pure Neapolitan style will exult in compliance that results in a pillowy soft crust with a light char on the bottom and on the cornicione with floppy and wet center. But they could do better with a few minor deviations that would give the pizza not only more body such that a slice can be picked up without folding or having the toppings slide off, but also with more flavor and a slightly more crunchy texture. I'm happy to share details with management if they're interested. The pizzas we had were three: Margherita: A very good example of the classic Neapolitan style, but not enough basil, of which they should put some pieces under most of the fresh mozzarella rather than just throw a couple of leaves randomly on top. It includes the VPN-compliant San Marzanos tomatoes crushed with a bit of salt, but those tomatoes are over-rated and always put to shame in my taste tests compared with California-grown Alta Cucina tomatoes (by Stanislaus). Salsiccia: The proferred ingredients are: San Marzano tomato, fior di latte mozzarella, light spicy Italian sausage, bell peppers, onion, black olives. A very good pie, but there was almost no sausage on it--I'd guess not more than 1-2 ounces. The black olives appeared and tasted more like Kalamata olives, which is good as black olives belong on a big crappy Round Table pizza. The peppers were thrown in a clump onto the pizza, as the pizzaiolo apparenty didn't have enough time or concern to spread them around. And my comment above about the too soft and floppy dough and overrated San Marzano tomatoes applies here as well. Doppio Zero: The proferred ingredients are: Burrata cheese, 24 months Prosciutto di Parma, arugula, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano, E.V.O.O. It's a mouthwatering, excellent pie with the perfect amount of each ingredient evenly distributed, including a tasty high quality Prosciutto! Obviously none of the pesky San Marzanos, but the same overly soft and floppy crust. They do use a wood-fired oven, but in reality the pizzas are in the oven for such a short time that the wood or wood type doesn't really matter; the key is in the dough ingredients and fermentation process as long as the oven temperature can get to 800-1000 degrees. Wood and wood type matter for long smoked cooking of things like brisket and pulled pork. Ambience and service were superb! read more

My partner & I have been anticipating the opening of this divine pizza restaurant since the signs were posted last year. We love their Mountain View location so we were really happy to see that their Campbell location was finally open. We arrived about 5 minutes after they opened so we didn't have to wait to get seated. We shared their gnocchi and pavola e pepe pizza. The gnocchi was ok but the pizza was *chef's kiss*. I used to live in NYC and I've tried all of the highly rated pizzas there but Doppio's pizza is UNMATCHED! Their panna cotta is also worth ordering. Great location. The parking lot is just around the corner. The ambiance is nice and it does not feel very crowded. There is enough seating inside and outside. For dinner, we made reservations to try out the new and local Doppio Zero here in Campbell! I've never been to a Doppio Zero, but per the suggestions in our party, it sounded like it would be a delicious experience. We made reservations for a party of four beforehand, which saved us time. It was fairly busy both inside and outside, but there was enough seating for us to decide between the two. Since the weather was warm and cooling down after the heat wave, we decided to eat outdoors. The restaurant is placed perfectly on a corner where you can enjoy your meal in an Italian bistro seating, shaded by umbrellas. It was peaceful and tranquil, especially with the local live acoustic music. Their starter bread is a crispy crust with pillowy bread in the center, pairing well with the oil and vinegar dipping option. It was so delicious, I kept reaching in the basket for more! For our appetizer we ordered the fried artichokes and the caprese. Anywhere I can try and compare, I will always order the caprese. The tomatoes weren't as ripe as I prefer them, but the rest of the dish and presentation were tasty. I like their vinaigrette a lot and it paired well with the cheese and basil! I would still order this again and update in the future. The real showstopper was the fried artichoke. The seasoning on the artichoke and the ranch dipping was a 10/10. It stopped everyone at the table in their tracks and we almost ordered a second platter due to its popularity - the downside? We just ordered our meals and didn't want to fill up too soon. Definitely a recommendation regardless on if you're an artichoke fan or not. I personally don't care for artichoke but this was an absolute delight that I've been thinking about since Thursday. As for our meals, I ordered the vegan ravioli which was a yummy and comforting plate of pasta. The filling was spinach that was perfectly packed and the sauce complemented it very well. I always enjoy trying a vegan option and this did not disappoint! The other three in my party ordered pizza and the calzones. The crust was a hit and the flavor profile and combination were well matched too. I had such a wonderful time at this location, and to top it off - I ordered the hazelnut icecream that was reminiscent of a ferrero rocher chocolate! It had a fudge center of the icecream with praline and nutty topping around the icecream. It was so creamy and fresh too. This was the first time I've been here. This place was pretty happening on a Thursday early evening! We had a table of about 25-30, and I will say, this place is great at accommodating large parties. We had plenty of servers helping out the table and the service was great! There were some confusion on which items went to who during our time here, but everyone there was super responsive and helpful. I ordered the pornstar drink, which had prosecco and vodka and passionfruit puree in it, and it was a super light and refreshing drink, and also looked beautiful! I also got the espresso fizz martini , which came with a heated up marshmellow for garnishing. This drink was also amazing and looked beautiful. When looking around the table, all the drinks were so beautifully presented, that I don't think you can go wrong with any drink. For the appetizers, I tried the calamari and shrimp, which I felt had a light batter on it, so you could really taste the calamari and shrimp. The meatballs were also good, it came in a set of 4, so great for sharing. I also had the truffle fries which I could really taste the truffles on! Yum! For the entree, I ordered the ribeye steak, cooked medium rare, and it came with a side of fries. I will tell you, this ribeye was SO good! The meat was cooked perfectly, had a great amount of fat/meat ratio, and was so soft. It came with a side of chimichurri sauce, which I used to drip the meat in. I really like this place. It's quite big, and airy and open feeling. Although it can fit a lot of tables. It's was loud and crowded, but I liked it enough and will go back again. Cocktails were either half a glass or a mocktail version. Inquiring for where the alcohol was in the drinks they didn't resolve the issue leaving us a bit frustrated. Food was cold or reheated. Even the pizza was cold although it looked very delicious. The truffle fries, bread and olives were good but the rest was just not great. Their home made squid ink tagliolini had frozen seafood in it. I had the Gnocchi which was okay. We had a lot of leftovers we didn't take them home. The interior is nice although the seats were a bit on the uncomfortable side. The service was okay. Nice guy until we complained and the server went back to the bar to remake a drink and was having a not so nice conversation about us while making a new drink. That really made me cringe. Never been to the other locations so I was really excited to try this spot considering the hype around it on social media. Good pizza is always something I'm on the lookout for! My friends and I went to DZ right when it opened on Memorial Day. There was a small line already, but we got seated pretty quickly with the option of choosing inside or outside. Interior of the restaurant was nice enough for me to mention it right off the bat. For food, they have neopolitan dishes and pizza. I ended up underestimating the size of the pizza because it looked really small in the photos but it's a decent size. I got the vesuvio, and my friends got the fungo and fettucine wild boar. I didn't try their dishes so I can't say anything on their behalf but apparently the pizza was good enough that my friend, who never finishes her food, finished it! That says something. Anyways I enjoyed my vesuvio, loads of mozzarella on it and I added their spicy oil which they offered after putting down our dishes onto the table. I'd definitely consider DZ if I'm craving pizza. My only complaint would have to be the service. I don't know why or how, but it took about twenty or thirty minutes to order our food despite parties coming in after us and getting their drinks/appetizers before our server came by.
