The reviews sounded amazing. I got there at 11:45AM and it is closed. They also don't take debit or credit cards, so, be prepared with cash. Since I travel constantly on business and never have any cash for expenses, I don't think I've used cash at a restaurant in a few years. I really, really wanted to try it.

Cute little restaurant. Breakfast is like any other diner food at a very reasonable price point. Service was fast and polite. Note: the restaurant is cash only.

This homey little place has it going for them, with a great location and down to earth prices. People love it here. The menu is nothing fancy, just good basic food, plenty of coffee, and a pleasant staff. Everything was just as it should be. For breakfast, i ordered crispy bacon, French toast with no syrup or sugar. It was perfect, 2 slices with real butter. My partner ordered scrambled eggs, rye toast, and bacon. All were out of the kitchen really quickly and correct. Coffee refills were readily available. The bill was about $15 for all. We will be back

I was walking by and decided to stop in. The waitress stopped by quickly and took my order. Sadly I just missed the breakfast menu so ordered a bunless burger and cole slaw. The restaurant is like walking into grandma's house ;) The food arrived. The cole slaw was a bit bland as well as the burger. I did like the fixings (onion, lettuce, tomato) for the burger which were generous and tasty.

It was our last day in Corning. Instead of eating anything from our free breakfast we decided we need to try Donna's. Very cute and homey restaurant. Feels like you're sitting at a friends table. We just ordered pancakes, haven't had them in ages and they didn't disappoint! I had a hot chocolate that comes with real whipped cream not the at airy stuff out of the can. The pancakes were light and fluffy, 3 nice sized pancakes. There was a chocolate cake at the counter that looked wonderful! Too early for me though. I should've taken a piece home. They also have eggs Benedict which looked delish going to the next table. Clean, very nice staff. Definitely worth a stop for breakfast or brunch. They are closed by 2pm. Don't miss breakfast here and the prices are easy on the pocket

Homey and lovely. Donna and her staff are great. Get whatever she has baked that day. You won't regret it.

Excellent home style breakfast! Service was fast and polite. Portions were excellent and you simply cannot beat the price, it is cash only but worth a trip to the ATM if you need to. We got a tea, coffee, omelette, oatmeal, and French toast for $23! Would come back again.

Steak breakfast sandwich. Everything is made fresh. Excellent Ho made pies are to die for.

Definitely a spot where you could linger for a while. Food-wise, we ordered the fried rice with crispy chicken (breaded in crushed Cheerios--yes, Cheerios, and yes, surprisingly delicious!), the bánh mì, and the crispy chicken sandwich, which ended up being the star of the show. Every bite of that sandwich was perfectly seasoned, crunchy, and satisfying. We upgraded our side to the greens, which came topped with some mysterious orange ingredient--maybe a grated carrot dressing? Whatever it was, it was scrumptious. We also ordered a side of pickles, which were surprisingly affordable and so flavorful that they disappeared fast. We didn't try any drinks, but the menu had plenty of interesting options to choose from. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how family-friendly the place felt: while we waited, the kids grabbed a new-to-us game (The Enchanted Forest) from the board game shelves, which made the time fly by. Service was attentive and friendly without hovering, and overall we had a fantastic experience. If we lived closer, this would be a regular lunch spot for sure!

The ambiance is dim and quiet, but they were happy to have us. My 4 year old used colored pencils on coloring sheets we brought with us. For babies and small kids, they have ingelisa chairs that clip on the high tables and I was concerned about the high chairs for our 4 year old but it was fine. She devoured her entire meal(chicken tenders) and a half of our 1 year olds' (they have a kids menu with chicken tenders, grilled peanut butter and fluff, noodles with butter, hot dog..). The service was fast and great. While I am vegetarian and my spouse is gluten free, we are always pleasantly surprised when we both find delicious food. I loved the general tso's poboy with cauliflower and tofu. I wish there was more cauliflower since my 1 year old took many of those pieces. My spouse got something with "pulled pork and quinoa" and he said it was very good too.

There are two counters: you can order ice cream from the first counter near the main entrance, and sandwiches and salads and baked goods from the cafe counter in the back. The ice cream is mostly Hershey's but they currently have one housemade gelato and one sorbetto that rotates. The ice cream counter also has novelty candy and ice cream for sale, but if you go in back to the cafe counter, they have higher quality locally produced and imported candies along with other pantry stuff like jam and tea. I've stopped here a few times. The sandwiches have been fantastic (globe sandwich and Moroccan wrap). The carrot cake was just okay, a little dry if I remember correctly, but the coconut custard pie I tried this time was perfect and not too sweet or heavy. They also do a good (and pretty big) malt milkshake. Service is fast enough and generally friendly.

Fourth of July 2025 weekend, I finally had a chance to grab a burger with them and holy moly, they were so right - This might be the best burger I've ever eaten! We arrived around 3:30pm on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to grab a parking spot on the street, practically right in front of the entrance to Butcher's Son! They're located at one end of Market St. in Corning, now I don't frequent Corning often so I don't know if there's a big parking lot or more side streets to park along, but I could definitely foresee this street being packed with people and cars during the week. I think the time we arrived was a big part as to why we had no trouble getting a parking spot as well as being able to easily find a table after placing our order. The three of us walked in and it really is a butcher shop that has a small menu of burgers, fries, and specialty sandwiches (I saw a steak sandwich on their menu). There was a large, bar-style table with stools to sit along in the front with a station full of cutlery, napkins, packaged ketchup, stuff like that, nothing too fancy but clean and orderly. A courteous, friendly gentleman took our food order and told us to grab a seat anywhere we like and they'd get our food to us. We ended up taking over one of the tables, with an umbrella, outside and we were the only ones out there! It was nice to sit, talk, hang out for a bit, the relaxed, quiet atmosphere was nice. About 10-15 minutes later, all of orders were boxed up and brought out to us. For my late lunch/early dinner meal, I ordered the Fun Guy Burger, which is two smashed beef patties topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions, bacon jam, and Swiss cheese, along with a side of their hand-cut shoestring fries. Oh. My. Goodness! Wow, was this burger out of this world good. That had to be the freshest, juiciest, perfectly-cooked burger patties I have ever eaten. There were tons of sautéed mushrooms and onions on top and they were incredibly generous with the bacon jam. The Swiss cheese was melted just right and paired so well with the other toppings. The bun was toasted and held everything together very well. The burger itself is big and is honestly the perfect portion as you'll certainly be full without feeling any sort of "meat sweats"! haha They were very generous with the portion of fries as well. Personally, I liked the way these fries were cooked where they weren't crispy/crunchy but they weren't limp at all. Whatever they were fried in gave these fries an awesome flavor without having a ton of salt and pepper thrown on them. I really liked their fries; I'm not a huge fry-person but these would probably be at the top of my list. Another thing that I have to call out was how reasonable their prices were. Coming from Buffalo, burger prices are really expensive for what you get but Butcher's Son, my meal - burgers, fries, water, probably came near $20, maybe a few cents over that, which in 2025, is phenomenal value! My family told me that Butcher's Son came in first place in the New York Beef Council's "Best NY Burger" competition for 2025. My family and the competition judges are spot on and Butcher's Son totally deserves, and earned, the accolades and awards. Everything from the staff, the focused menu, the quality food, the portions, are great! Next time I'm in Corning, I can't wait to come back here and grab another burger and fries!
