I have family who live nearby Butcher's Son and have raved how awesome the burgers are for a while now. Fourth of July 2025 weekend, I finally had a chance to grab a burger with them and holy moly, they were so right - This might be the best burger I've ever eaten! We arrived around 3:30pm on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to grab a parking spot on the street, practically right in front of the entrance to Butcher's Son! They're located at one end of Market St. in Corning, now I don't frequent Corning often so I don't know if there's a big parking lot or more side streets to park along, but I could definitely foresee this street being packed with people and cars during the week. I think the time we arrived was a big part as to why we had no trouble getting a parking spot as well as being able to easily find a table after placing our order. The three of us walked in and it really is a butcher shop that has a small menu of burgers, fries, and specialty sandwiches (I saw a steak sandwich on their menu). There was a large, bar-style table with stools to sit along in the front with a station full of cutlery, napkins, packaged ketchup, stuff like that, nothing too fancy but clean and orderly. A courteous, friendly gentleman took our food order and told us to grab a seat anywhere we like and they'd get our food to us. We ended up taking over one of the tables, with an umbrella, outside and we were the only ones out there! It was nice to sit, talk, hang out for a bit, the relaxed, quiet atmosphere was nice. About 10-15 minutes later, all of orders were boxed up and brought out to us. For my late lunch/early dinner meal, I ordered the Fun Guy Burger, which is two smashed beef patties topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions, bacon jam, and Swiss cheese, along with a side of their hand-cut shoestring fries. Oh. My. Goodness! Wow, was this burger out of this world good. That had to be the freshest, juiciest, perfectly-cooked burger patties I have ever eaten. There were tons of sautéed mushrooms and onions on top and they were incredibly generous with the bacon jam. The Swiss cheese was melted just right and paired so well with the other toppings. The bun was toasted and held everything together very well. The burger itself is big and is honestly the perfect portion as you'll certainly be full without feeling any sort of "meat sweats"! haha They were very generous with the portion of fries as well. Personally, I liked the way these fries were cooked where they weren't crispy/crunchy but they weren't limp at all. Whatever they were fried in gave these fries an awesome flavor without having a ton of salt and pepper thrown on them. I really liked their fries; I'm not a huge fry-person but these would probably be at the top of my list. Another thing that I have to call out was how reasonable their prices were. Coming from Buffalo, burger prices are really expensive for what you get but Butcher's Son, my meal - burgers, fries, water, probably came near $20, maybe a few cents over that, which in 2025, is phenomenal value! My family told me that Butcher's Son came in first place in the New York Beef Council's "Best NY Burger" competition for 2025. My family and the competition judges are spot on and Butcher's Son totally deserves, and earned, the accolades and awards. Everything from the staff, the focused menu, the quality food, the portions, are great! Next time I'm in Corning, I can't wait to come back here and grab another burger and fries! read more

This is the only place we go to eat when we visit Corning, NY. Having celiac makes it difficult for me to eat at restaurants. The Buther's Son accommodates those with gluten allergies. One of the best burgers I've had in a long minute. The bun was amazing. It had this almost crisp kind of texture, but not in a bad way. It was soft and fresh, and it complimented the beef. The beef was cooked to perfection, the sauce was legit, and it ranks pretty high on my all time list. No loss of stars for this....but...went in on afternoon of Aug 3 - 4ish. There was a dude there for the duration of our visit. He may or may not have been an employee, but he was some kind of obnoxious. He just wouldn't shut up. Topics included bashing Walmart employees for being stupid, grocery store layout, keto dieting, and my favorite - cow shit composition. I referred to him as the Reverend since he was preaching. If he's an employee, he should prob consider his crowd (prob shouldn't bash people on where they work - maybe that what funded the visit to the establishment). If he's not, that dude needs the boot, or at least someone needs to turn his volume down from 11. We'll be back, but hoping the rev isn't there. read more

We were hoping to have a breakfast egg sandwich on a late Saturday morning only to learn those are only available on Sundays. Oh well. But we knew their burgers were really good, so that is what we ordered. My wife ordered the burger with Swiss cheese and mushrooms. I had the burger with jalapeños and barbecue sauce. Both were good. The burgers are two patties. So rather large. Both were rather messy. Delivered to us in take away boxes, it was actually a little hard to eat out of them. I drove down from Rochester for an event and stopped at this spot. It's really cool, small, quaint, with choice cuts of local meat available for purchase. I grabbed a Bleu Burger which is a nice healthy-sized double burger. The flavor of the meat was delightful. I don't eat red meat unless it's local. The quality and flavor were excellent and the tart bleu cheese was a great match. I'd stop here again if I'm passing through. read more

Gave 4 stars because it is an amazing, knowledgeable butcher shop. The prices obviously are higher than your average grocery store but the meat quality and their knowledge is well worth the price. As for the burgers, if I was rating them separately would be about 2.5 stars. They are smash burgers which I find dry to begin with and these are no different. I love a good bleu burger but when you top a burger with lots of crumbled bleu cheese, you need a juicy medium rare/medium burger to balance it out and help create a sauce for the burger by the juices mixing with the cheese. These patty's are smashed, crispy, and well done, meaning all those tasty juices are lost. Also, one of my biggest pet peeves is soggy fries and both times I've gotten fries here, there wasn't a crispy one in the bunch. Will definitely continue to frequent the butcher shop and based on everyone's raving reviews, might try the burgers again.
