Friendly folks. You can tell that this place is part of the community. The food was not great. Weird rolls that tasted heavy and wet- and very expensive. Sandwich, chips and a drink ran me $20. read more

Incredibly disappointed. Paid 20 dollars after tax and tip for a large "Cuban." I guess I didn't read the description because there was no pulled pork. It was a hot ham and cheese with mustard and pickles that didn't even fill the roll with no chips or fries for twenty dollars. Poor value for the money. read more

Cody and his team were amazing at accommodating our catering order for a seminar. The email communication and deciding what would feed our crew best was efficient and thorough. The food was delicious as always and it was great to show some out of town guests how great this small hometown business is!! read more

The food is good. I only get the speedy chicken salad or Speedy Chicken sandwich. Both good when the chicken isn't tough. Although that's rare. Going in the "back door" from parking lot is TOTALLY DISCUSTING ! I have never seen such a filthy mess. I don't even want to touch the door to go in. I can't believe this isn't a code violation. Some cleaning solution, sponge, and a few minutes of time would help a LOT. Some paint would help too. I just can't see myself going back in here when their cleanliness standards are so low. read more

absolutely the best food : Taco salad , Philly. cheese sub, and all the other items on menu ! Definitely a. 10 + in my book.

This sub shop is hands down the best sub shop around!! The staff is very attentive and friendly! You can order anything you want on any sub and they have wheat sub rolls too!! If you want any recommendations, the staff is eager to help, all you have to do is ask!! I will recommend this place always!! read more

Had On A Roll subs at a class reunion picnic, they were delicious and so fresh. The condiments in containers, nice selection. There was mention how nice everyone was at the shop. Made for a great picnic with classmates. read more

Alright, I have to say that I am a picky eater. Picky enough to be skeptical about what's for breakfast/lunch/dinner. So when I heard On a Roll multiple times during my stay in horseheads, I had to give it a try. My boyfriend loooovvvves the chicken speedies subs. I'm born and raised in California; we don't have chicken speedies here. He ordered one, and I ordered a plain ham cheese lettuce and tomato sandwich. I have to say that that chicken speedie was so good I ate the other half of his speedie lol Best rolls for the subs, service is excellent, and the food is fantastic! I'm back in California. I wish I could order a Chicken Speedie sub about now!!! read more

On a Roll - Ham Sandwich with bacon and Chicken Salad - American Near Me - Horseheads, New York

A hidden gem in Horseheads. My husband and I first time here, he had also noticed tons of people coming and in out of this joint. It's not much to look at, no thrills inside or out but that doesn't matter because the staff and food make up for the rest. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. I had the Turkey sub with all the fixings - it was huge and filling and really appreciated the shaved Turkey. The hubs had the ever so popular chicken spedie because the guy recommended it. The red peppers gave it a sweet tangy flavor that was different then most but still good. The bread was super freshly and doughy, but we don't eat much of bread these days. I just appreciated how packed they made the sub that when I tore it away from the bread it kept it sub shaped. read more

Stopped here on the way home from the Finger Lakes for a quick sandwich. I got a spinach wrap with chicken salad and my friend got the Reuben on a hoagie roll. First of all... lots of selections with different breads, wraps, meats, etc but they are all so amazingly fresh! You can also make anything into a salad or quesadilla. They have a few of your basic sides like macaroni salad and garden salads and all as well. I was also pleasantly surprised by the size of both meals we got. It was enough for 2 meals for each of us. This place was amazing- we wish we lived closer so we could go more often but it'll definitely be a stop in or out of town! Just be prepared cuz it's crazy busy in there- lots of locals eat there which tells you how amazing it is!! read more

Their food is top notch and definitely worth the cost. The owners and staff are very friendly. I have been going here for several years. The recent remodel is awesome. read more

Delicious food, fast service, becoming the best lunch in the area! I would go for a hot sub, or one of their specials. They don't miss. A well deserved 5/5 everytime. Very consistent!! read more

Loved it. Great food and friendly service. The server went out of their way to help us. We will definitely be back.

Great Staff ! Very friendly guys who recommended the Chicken Spiedie and I am happy I took that recommendation! Lots of options to choose from and many toppings for sandwiches. Wonderful local business that does not disappoint. Seating in the front in minimal but there is a larger seating area in the back. I look forward to trying more of the menu. read more

We walked in the guy behind the counter, was quick to ask us what we wanted and had no problem explaining to us about the menu. The place seems to be a little dirty behind the counter as well as in the kitchen, but if you can get past that, the food was awesome. The Local baked rolls are so amazing and their chicken subs have real chicken and are definitely worth a try. I will definitely be back to try the cold cut subs!! read more

Best subs around. Chicken spiedis sub is phenomenal . Fully loaded too. Friendly staff

Always fresh and tasty. Staff is always friendly and patient when I can't make up my mind!

This is the BEST sub shop, hands down. The atmosphere is fantastic and the employees actually care about their customers. They take the time to get to know them, as soon as you walk in as a regular, they know your order. They ask about your family and have really good conversation while you're there. To top it off they make incredible food. The subs are packed full of fresh ingredients and you most definitely get more than your money's worth. They simply NEVER miss. 1000 out of 10 recommend. #Feedthe607 read more

While the staff are super friendly, the place itself is super dirty and gross. I don't mean a little bit either. I mean down right disgusting! If you stand at the counter and look at where the sandwich "toppings" are, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 5 years and the walls and floor are absolutely filthy! Filthy! I can't believe that the Board of Health has not shut this place down and that people have not become violently sick from eating from here! read more

Awesome salad! Great job. Will be back for sure! Quick and easy, some others ordered subs which came on a toasted roll. Good job!

This place has the best sandwiches and staff. We have subs from here about twice a month and always love them. Even my daughter who won't eat subs from anywhere eats them from On a roll. read more

This place is awful! A worker was coughing while serving food and not wearing gloves. The place is dirty and food quality is poor. I will never return! read more

The BEST salads and sandwiches in Horseheads. Always greeted by the friendly staff & always recommend to friends/family! Never leave this place hungry either. Great location too. read more

Stopped in for a quick sandwich on our way to a weekend getaway. The reviews made it sound awesome but we found it barely okay. The two guys running the counter seemed less the enthused to be working there and took our orders with utter disdain. The person with the best customer service was the kid with the mop! The place could also use a good deep clean and some new paint. It wss a little gross. Don't use the bathrooms. The sandwiches were okay. My buffalo chicken was edible but the chicken was tough and flavorless. My other half had the quesadilla which had mozzarella cheese since they were out of cheddar. So if you are desperate roll the dice and get a sandwich. If you can wait head somewhere else. read more

Great food and it's quick! It's small on the inside, so if you must get it to go and pick a park within walking distance around Horseheads. Still unsure if they take credit, last I knew it was cash only but an ATM is right there on the spot. Chicken speedie sub is a must!! read more

Great sub...The family and I order a couple subs once a month or so. They have great bread and all the fix'ins. Tried the beef bbq, chicken spedies, tuna salad, crab salad and Italian. All be good sized and portions. Really like the salt potatoes and the service team are all engaging and friendly- once you start the conversation. The one thing they need to do is clean up the area a bit. It is concerning in this COVID time to stop by and pick up ur sandwich and see all the pieces of trash, food and general disarray around the food prep area. Great local sandwich shop. read more

Great subs! Good service and community oriented ownership. Co-worker and I go back often.

Got the steak and blue special today. It was excellent!! The staff was great. Even though there was a long line they worked fast to get everyone taken care of. read more

This place is dirty, dirty,, dirty. You walk in the back door which is in need of a good washing. I didn't even want to touch it. Walls heading to the counter is dirty. Then you getup to the counter to order - counter was in need of a good scrubbing, cob webs in the corners. Napkin counter was as equally dirty. Carpet is in need of a good cleaning. I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. Doubt I will ever go back. read more

My husband grew up in Horseheads and he kept telling me how great the sandwiches are at On A Roll. Well, tasting is believing! The meats are fresh and stacked high. The toppings are also very fresh. I highly recommend this place. read more

I haven't been there in awhile, but when we lived in Horseheads we went all the time. Their subs were great. If it's still the same as it was a few years ago, I would highly recommend. read more

On a Roll has been around for years and years and there's a reason why. Good subs, great service, awesome people. Love it!

Waited wayyyy to long. Then they ignored my husband and he had to tell a different kid his order- a simple rueban- on their menu, yet they had no clue what was on a rueban. Then it took 45 minutes to come out. Mind you, 3 customers in shop, 3 "deli" people behind counter. Got our sandwiches and they were the absolute poorest excuse. 2 slices of rye flavor wonder bread with MAYBE 3 slices of shaved corned beef, 1 slice Swiss, undrained sauerkraut and Russian dressing all chopped and mixed together in what resembled a poorly made soggy velvetta grilled cheese. Took a bite, worst mistake I've made in a long time- tasted like dirty flat top and grease. Avoid like plague until they get their act together. read more

For years, this has been an occasional family treat we'd go out of our way for. The rolls were huge, the toppings were fresh and generously applied, their unique sub sauce was outstanding and the prices were reasonable for all that you received. It had been a long while since our last visit when my son and I stopped in at the end of February 2018. What a disappointment! With tax we paid more than $16.00 for 2 large meatless veggie/cheese subs whose rolls were nearly half their former width, which meant far skimpier toppings. We were also overcharged until I questioned paying 25 bucks for just two subs! So that'll be my last visit to this establishment. I can get a far better value at Subway or -- even better yet -- South Side Sub Shop. I don't know if the place is under new or just poor management, but I can't imagine I'm the only longtime customer who has noticed the difference and is saying goodbye. (I was originally inclined to give 1 star but felt that was too harsh. The place is clean and the food fresh; it's just that it's not what it used to be. 2-1/2 stars would probably be about right.) read more

Heard about this thing called a Jackhawk Special from a homie from horseheads. Went in and asked for it and the dude looked at me like I was stupid.
