    Nickels pit BBQ, Corning NY

Our second trip here & well worth the trip. The bbq brisket was phenomenal- very moist& tender with a slight smoky flavor. There are several side selections and my favorite is their dill pickle potato salad. For both visits we had Paul as our server. He is friendly, welcoming and attentive. The restaurant is right on Market Street near a variety of interesting shops. While not a large space the tables are far enough apart so that you can have a conversation with your partner. They also offer a great selection of local beers and have a full bar as well. We will definitely visit again when we are in Corning the next time

    Wednesday night $3 tacos

We stopped at Nickel's Pit BBQ while visiting the area, and wow--this place totally hit the spot for our family of five. Our server was incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly. He recommended the family combo (A+ choice) and reminded us it was $3 taco Wednesday, so of course we added tacos. Zero regrets. We tried The Alabama Flex, Chicken Finger's Sub, and the Honey Shredder tacos. All were delicious, but hands-down family favorite was The Alabama Flex. The smoked meat was tender and flavorful, and their BBQ sauces took everything up a notch. My personal favorite was the House BBQ--slightly sweet with that molasses richness. The kids loved the Red Eye BBQ because it "wasn't too spicy and tasted fresh." High praise from little food critics. Now for the real winners of the night: The chicken wings. THE. WINGS. Absolute star of the show. The brisket came in a close second--juicy and soft. The pulled pork was a bit on the dry side, but the mac and cheese made up for it (creamy, cheesy, everything mac should be). And the fries were perfectly crispy and addictive. All in all, a fantastic meal with great service. We'd definitely come back next time we're in town!

Went here for the Sunday brunch and it was great! Got the smoked wings. They were cooked really well. The sauces with good. I would hey them again. The tater tots were nice and crispy! The sour cream and ranch that they came with really did the trick to take them up a notch. My mom got the brisket sandwich and it was really really good. I love fattier brisket, so it definitely sufficed. The Mac salad was pretty good. It wasn't sweet like people usually make it which I did enjoy. I ended up getting a side to go. The service was quick and the atmosphere was welcoming and definitely gave you the barbecue joint feel.

My kid took one bite of his ribs and had a religious experience. So that's the whole review. I jest. A small place but on a Thursday night the wait was short. Great service the whole time. Food came out quickly. Legit BBQ. Started with the pickles which were excellent and an interesting mix of flavors. Hubby got pulled pork sandwich which officially ranked above our all time favorite BBQ spot in SC. That's saying something. The kid got the aforementioned ribs and ate them clean. The tots were on point. The kid made us all try them. I had the chili and cornbread. Y'all. The cornbread was perfect. I prefer sweet cornbread and this was it. Great beer list on tap for the hubby. I had two different cans. So now I need to find NY cider in MD.

Wanted bbq and found this spot nearby the hotel we're staying at. Service was super friendly and attentive. Seated right away and when asked for recommendations was told the flying pigs and the brisket were most often ordered. So we decided to order those as well. Food did not disappoint. The flying pigs were amazing. Get the nickel dry rub and use any of the sauces on the table. For the brisket combo we got cornbread and tots as sides. Wifey loved the brisket and the cornbread. The tots were flavorful as well. Everything was great and delish. Would definitely recommend this place for bbq. Wouldn't mind coming back to try the other items on the menu.

Great food and friendly service. The stand out appetizer was the deep fried pickles. Great breading and the pickles are still crispy with seasoning. Not an easy accomplishment to get a nice crispy pickles when getting a good deep fry. The original brisket sandwich was spot on. I had it "wecked" like a traditional beef on Weck. Good combination and a different take than I have ever had before. Space is limited so large groups might be difficult to get seated. We did some shopping next door on Market Street so the time flew for our wait.

This was the better barbecue in Corning. All the meat was good and pretty, tasting pleasantly of smoke. Look at the nice red ring on that brisket! Nickels Pit provides three or four sauces you can put on. The tater tots were crisp and hot. The corn muffin was large and tasty, with a coarse crumb. The greens had some sort of cheese sprinkled on. I liked everything I ate. I ate as much as I could, and had the cold leftovers two days later for breakfast. It was still good. The service was great. I was the only person in the restaurant (Monday night in winter) and the server was very willing to help. He improvised a hot toddy for me, which they don't have on the menu, and it was very pleasant. Cost was $51, including tax and the toddy ($8), but leaving out tip.

If you're in Corning and looking for some delicious BBQ, Nickel's Is the place to be. me and my wife were very happy with this find. We shared a combo meal which was the perfect amount of meat deliciousness, the service and atmosphere was absolutely perfect to couple with the snow and lights right out the window. We'll definitely becoming back to try more of the menu.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon thought it'd be quiet but ended up waiting for a half an hour. The interior was clean but there're spotted flies. We ordered the briskets with no high hopes but it turns out to be phenomenal! Juicy and tender--very much beyond our expectation! Another nice surprise is their sauces--blended well with their meet. Tots were a bit over fried, Mac salad is tasty! Best brisket for a bbq restaurant!

Mega plate - so much food and delicious! Everyone left full and happy!

Passing through and it was delicious! Great service, sauces were perfect and the restaurant is in a super cute part of town. We ordered the loaded tots and mega plate to share as a family of 4 and had tons of leftovers!

I stopped here with my wife for dinner. I ordered the brisket. It was fork tender and delicious. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The draft beer selection was good. It was clean inside and good atmosphere.

Very popular restaurant on the strip, that has a pretty good bar. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so depending on the day and time. You may have a long wait, and they do not take reservations. In all fun place to go to, but the food is just decent. Wings- you have plenty of choices to choose from. I ordered the dry rub Bbq (10) and the chipotle honey mustard (10). Both choices were delicious, and I loved the fact they were crispy. Brisket- Nice thick sliced pieces of meat, that had the right amount of smoke flavor. I would say though, the brisket needed just a little more time smoked. That way they would've came out more tender. Ribs-(not shown) The ribs tasted like they were steamed or even boiled. Yes they fell off the bone, but I don't like my ribs prepared like that. I like seeing a smoke ring, and having a slight tug of resistance when I bite into a rib. I also prefer having the bbq sauce smoked or grilled onto the meat. These ribs come with no sauce, and you choose what you would like from the bbq sauce carousel at the table.

We tried the 1/4 lb platter. With fries and potato salad. The pulled pork was amazing. Great flavor and very tender. The smoked sausage was as good as any smoked sausage I have had in upstate NY. The chicken was also very tender and had a good smoked flavor. The ribs had a lot of flavor and were not over cooked like some places do. The brisket.... Was brisket.... Maybe it wasn't made today which is fine. It tasted more like a roast than a brisket. My wife and I differ on our opinions of BBQ houses. I like to try the meats before I put any sauce on. My wife like it covered beforehand. This place doesn't smother it but does put it on before I got a chance to try the meats. The potato salad was ok but not bursting in flavor. The pieces in it are cut fairly large. It was ok. Fries are fries. A little over salted. But they did have malt vinegar. We might try this place again.

Ordered some corn nuggets to share, and then our entrees. My pulled pork on my sandwich was perhaps a bit fatty for my liking, but otherwise had a bit of smoke to it... and a little bit of bark on the ends. Probably could have used more sauce though. Service, food, and overall ambience were all fine... no complaints, but the place is very no frills. I wouldn't necessarily make a special point to visit again, but it was an easy option and I'd be willing to try a couple other options on the menu.

The hostess ignored us and went straight to the people that just walked in after us (it was obvious we got there first)- then she didn't even address us or greet us... so we picked out a seat and then menus were brought to us. The guy behind the counter came to get our order- he seemed kind of standoffish. I noticed we also got a different presentation of food with chips in a paper bag rather than plated with our food like the others? The food seemed to be good but honestly was overshadowed by the uncomfortable feeling we were being treated differently? We were the only people of color during that time- and all of us felt like that could've been a factor... Otherwise, I try to stay impartial- so the vibe was cute and the food was good- but the experience was not comfortable

I've never been served such a massive, heaping bowl of mac 'n cheese before in my life... no wonder…read morethis chain (7 locations) has gotten featured by Food Network and is known as the home of the mac 'n cheese. Had a delightful experience at this Market Street location in Corning. Welcoming, playful atmosphere with friendly and attentive service. I had been craving chicken wings, so the boyfriend and I ordered a 10 count of gold bbq chicken wings. To be fair, this might have been a mistake given the ample size of the mac 'n cheeses that we had each ordered too...but c'est la vie. The gold bbq was delicious and we made it through 8 of the 10 wings before our mac 'n cheese bowls arrived. My Kenny Pow Supreme mac 'n cheese came with sausage, onion, green peppers, pepperoni, and bacon mixed in & was topped with cheddar cheese, as well as panko for some extra texture. Even after not having eaten anything else that day before the chicken wings, I could only make it through about 1/3 of the whole size mac 'n cheese before tapping out... but omg, was it tasty. TL;DR Love the vibe, delicious food, and great staff. Will definitely be back!
