Look for the sign, next to Sunoco!

We haven't stopped here in years, so glad they are still open! It's much brighter inside than I remember - vivid paint colors - with booths and tables, high chairs if you need them too. The entrance is a steep ramp but doable for a walker or wheelchair (maybe with assistance). Bathrooms are gender-specific, but one at a time so really either could be used if there is a line. We were seated promptly, staff brought drinks, and the team was quickly cleaning up tables and checking the bathrooms while we were there. It was not crowded for a rainy Saturday lunchtime, but that was okay because aisle our food came out very quickly after we ordered. Kim took good care of us and checked on us twice. We had tea which came with an extra pot of hot water, and Kim still offered us more hot water! My Greek omelette was fluffy and delicious. Lots of feta and tomato inside! Hubby eggs were over medium (instead of easy) but still good. Lots of potatoes for each of us and neither of us finished them or the toast (choice of white, wheat, rye & sourdough). We will definitely remember to stop back when in the area!

The Scarlet Vetter says.....we were in Corning for a driving event on a Saturday and stayed over so we looked for a good brunch option near by. Found this place in Yelp and decided to give it a whirl. Cute atmosphere. Expansive menu. Pleasant service. Breakfast was excellent. I would definitely encourage anyone to check this place out!

Great for breakfast or lunch. Huge portions - pancakes are full plate size (about 10") so 2 were plenty. Can add on sides (e.g , bacon etc) to main entrees for less than the a la carte cost. I had 2 pancakes and 2 eggs with a side of bacon. One pancake was slightly overcooked on one side but that was the only dowside. Sandwiches we saw at other tables were huge. Can be busy but wait was short. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. We're in town for the Wineglass marathon and they had a sign welcoming runners - and the large portions fit the bill

Happened to be passing through the area on a road trip with 5 friends on a Tuesday afternoon. Of course, we could always stop at a McDonald's any day, but how often do you get to try a local, quirky spot? We were greeted warmly, sat quickly, and our food and drinks came shortly after. We had a fairly large group and the waitress was more than patient with us taking our time and looking over the menu. The food was classic diner comfort foods, and everything came out exactly as ordered. Fries were crisp and delicious, clubs were a good size, and everyone was pretty happy with their meals. It's no Michelin star restaurant, but this is Painted Post, NY we're talking about. The food is solid and affordable. Definitely worth a try if you're passing through, and always nice to support a family owned business with good people!

Irish Benny Breakfast

Definite banger of a restaurant in the surrounding Corning area. Crowded when we arrived however we were sat within ten minutes from arriving. I went with an item I never had before the Irish Benny. This item is poached eggs, cheddar cheese melted, corned beef, on an English muffin. Really was spectacular in flavor and very fulling. The girlfriend went with the sausage, egg, and cheese which was accompanied with a side of Pico De Gallo. There was a lot of I want to say garlic flavoring throughout the sandwich. Perhaps a little too much flavoring, maybe this was a one off or the pico was overly seasoned. The service was exceptional and the food hit the spot. Affordable and quick. I recommend trying it out if you are in the area. As always people SYOY!!!

Breakfast!

One of my favorite places to grab breakfast in the extended Corning area. Always busy when we visit but the wait staff are very quick and attentive. They are quick to fill your coffee cup which is one of the things I look for. Breakfast and brunch are great options. We started with sharing a cinnamon roll warmed up with our coffee and chocolate milk. Pancakes, omelettes, frittatas are all represented. Today I decided on having some eggs over easy, toast, corn beef hash and home fries. I really like their home fries they have the right balance of crisp outside and tender warm inside. I would only add onion but that's a personal preference for me. Never a bad experience here!

Great service and really good dishes! We had a Ruben and a fried fish plate, all good recommend this place if in the area!

Came her multiple times during my visit to Corning and I am not dissapointed. The food was decently priced and the portions were huge. My parents who are very picky really enjoyed the breakfast. The only thing I would say is that the food is on the salty side (which my parents enjoyed as they were there for the marathon). If you are in Corning you should visit this place for breakfast!

Was up early looking for a place to eat breakfast in Cortland. Easy to find and get to. Close to a few hotels nearby. This place has a mom and pop feel. Portions are huge. Like huge huge. And most importantly delicious. Parking lot is small.

Great place. Food is great and prices are fair. Only thing is they used to give jelly beans with the check but they don't do that anymore.

There's no staff, just the owner/chef/waiter, and because everything is cooked fresh (obviously a good thing) it's SLOOOOW. My wife and I were the only customers (mid afternoon), and we were there for almost 90 minutes. She liked her lunch burrito a lot, and it looked great. But my ham and egg sandwich was way too salty for my taste. Having said that, it was on very good, thick, fresh bread. But again, the timing thing -- my sandwich came out, and then we waited 8 minutes for her burrito. Obviously (per the reviews) most people seemed to like it, but....

Great bones... but to put it in context... the ceiling hasn't been painted since the 50's either.... we're both mature and remember the days when cigarettes weren't banned in restaurants... Proprietor was friendly and as quick as a one man show can be. As others have said; three meal options. If we weren't tired from a day at the museum we would have been more chatty and I'm sure the stories would have been a delight. Go if you're up for that kind of experience. Lettuce was crazy fresh and delicious... it seemed that all the other dinner ingredients were pulled and cooked from the freezer as needed.

Everything was clean and maintained well. Our server came over and took our drink order. The drinks came out quickly. My 7&7 was strong and hit the spot. We ordered the chicken bacon ranch Mac & cheese and an order of garlic Parmesan wings. The food came out fairly quickly and man o man! Everything looked and smelled awesome. Mac & cheese ohh so yummy and such a huge portion, and it was only a side portion. The wings..... the best I've had in such a long time. Perfectly cooked. Generous and flavorful sauce. Bleu cheese, house made, equally as good as everything else. Everything was good and a fair price. We left happy, and full.

We ordered the Rodeo Mac and Cheese and the Bacon Chicken Ranch Mac and Cheese (both in the whole size--think 5-6 cups each!), plus the Rodeo Burger, which comes topped with BBQ pulled pork and crispy onion straws. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS, and even with our family of five, we still had leftovers. So. Much. Food. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We ate downstairs, though there's a bar upstairs if that's more your vibe. Our waitress was super friendly and even tried to warn us that one whole mac would be plenty--but we wanted to try both flavors, so next-day leftovers were just part of the plan. Pricing felt very reasonable for the giant portions and the quality. Mooney's is one of those restaurants that knows exactly what it does well--and does it really well. We'd definitely come back!

We tried the 1/4 lb platter. With fries and potato salad. The pulled pork was amazing. Great flavor and very tender. The smoked sausage was as good as any smoked sausage I have had in upstate NY. The chicken was also very tender and had a good smoked flavor. The ribs had a lot of flavor and were not over cooked like some places do. The brisket.... Was brisket.... Maybe it wasn't made today which is fine. It tasted more like a roast than a brisket. My wife and I differ on our opinions of BBQ houses. I like to try the meats before I put any sauce on. My wife like it covered beforehand. This place doesn't smother it but does put it on before I got a chance to try the meats. The potato salad was ok but not bursting in flavor. The pieces in it are cut fairly large. It was ok. Fries are fries. A little over salted. But they did have malt vinegar. We might try this place again.

The plate below, with ¼ pound each of ribs and brisket, cole slaw, small corn muffin, and broccoli, was $47 including tax and tip. Price, service, and atmosphere were all acceptable, I have no complaints there. But the food was not good enough to bring me back.

I then picked it up to take the first bite, but something was wrong, i picked it up then the whole thing was completely sloppy and fell apart as a grabbed it, it even stained my brand new shorts, lady was nice but still the food was not fresh like a real hot dog place would have their foods. Either way i went to TRY and enjoy my food it was 10000° inside of the place and just dirty in general, outside the tables were rocky and every time i grab something the table would rock and even caused my brothers drink to fall down. I have been coming here since i was a little lad, it had completely fallen down hill since the main guy hasn't been here that much. Come to think of it, i came here last year, my strawberry shake, was just more like hard icecream in a cup! My hotdog was also grey.

They only do soft serve ice cream, I would say their specialty would be milkshakes. The woman told me they had the best milkshakes so I wanted to see if this was true. I can't say it's the best milkshake I've ever had, but it was pretty good. My only issue with this milkshake is the fact that it is soft serve vanilla ice cream and a chocolate milk. You remember the days when you were a kid and got the carton of chocolate milk for lunch? Yeah, that kind, from that exact carton. There are different flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and a few others I can't remember. Some people may like the style, not really my cup of ice cream but I like the concept of this store. I like the walk-by window to order. You don't have to go inside to order, you can be walking along the street and see it and order from the sidewalk. I love that style, it's unique and it works well for a quick bite like a hot dog. You can get the "works" on it and then keep shopping! GOOD IDEA. Side note: I don't eat hot dogs so I can't really say how those taste, but when I walk into the actual store, it reminds me of the ball fields as a kid. Going to the concession stand to buy a hot dog [when I ate them] and soda. Good memories.
