The staff is so nice & welcoming and the portions are large enough that hubby & I share. Seems as though this place is quite popular with the locals, especially those that love Keno, each time I've been in to pick up food nearly every table has been filled with players of all ages. Very cozy, friendly environment with a menu that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had the famous Big House Burger and it was certainly one of the most unique tasting burgers I've had, roll was super fresh and overall it was excellent. I would recommend for burger enthusiasts! read more

If you ain't from Corning--Stay Away! In all honestly, I'd been hearing for months how they have the best burger in town, and for months I would drive by and they would never look open. Then one day I saw a group of people congregating outside the front door and realized that always looking "closed" was how they roll. I secretly think it's to keep out-of-towners away. So I went inside, because it was supper time and I was hungry for the best burger in town. All I can say is what a huge disappointment. As you can see from my pics the burger was all bun, hardly any meat, BBQ sauce that had the consistency and flavor of tomato soup doctored with sugar, and a slice of what they called American cheese, which looked more like the white of a fried egg, and had the flavor of nothingness. Then their mac-n-cheese was just like my mom used to make, only thing is my mom isn't (or at least wasn't but had gotten better) the best cook, especially when it comes to American comfort food, and her Mac-n-cheese was just craft singles and milk. But tbh, I'd rather eat her mac any day of the week. Plus the service was just terrible. When i sat down the waitress looked disappointed that someone she didn't know growing up sat in her section, and the service went down hill from there. I'll just leave it at that. This local's haunt is well known for their gut-bustin' artery clogging burgers and fries. Its a bar that has multiple schizophrenic characters, depending on the day of the week and time of day. I'll just talk about the weekday lunch hour, thank you. First, one of the best, mouth-watering plain ol' hamburgers you can ever eat. Ask for it fully dressed, which is just what it sounds like-fresh tomato and lettuce always. If you don't like mayo, have them hold it or put it on the side. Onions are a must here too, grill 'em. I wish I could make them this good on my grill. Second, the place is notorious for Rigatoni and Sausage specials. So good luck getting a seat during that lunch hour. Other specials are a Friday Fish & Chips---great spicy horseradish sauce on the side. Here's the biggest quirk---it's also a shrine to the Oakland Raiders--says so right on the floor tiles when you walk in. In the middle of Buffalo Bills country, this is definitely a thumb on the nose to Bills, Jets and Giants fans alike. read more

I have lived all over this country and traveled to many other areas ...nothing ever compares to our gem here in Corning the food at R&Ms.One of My favorites it's their cheeseburger n fries and on Thursdays my entire family for several generations have loved their rigatonis. They are the best. Add an aniposto and nothing can compare. I have raised my family eating here and my granddaughters ask for it..A great family run place. With a nice menu to choose from. I've tried most on there and never been disappointed. A must try when in this town. I know good food and R&MS is excellent. read more

Came here for dinner with family . Place is very filthy , my chair kept Falling in the grate in the floor . Our meal was mediocre . As they were cooking our meal we also could smell a strong " weed" smell. You pretty much have to order at the bar . Wouldn't recommend coming here . I stopped here for lunch only because their Big House burger was judged best burger in Upstate NY. The burger features marinated ground beef, banana peppers, Monterey Jack cheese, pickles and a special sauce and is also topped with tomatoes, onions and lettuce. Sounds great, right? The burger was thick and juicy, the bun was good and the toppings were plentiful, but there was something very off putting about the flavor of the meat. Service wasn't exactly warm and friendly with the servers being frugal with words and even more so with smiles. read more

Well first impression was not the best. The general appearance is about 30 years outdated but clean. The server was not the friendliest but was prompt. The menu is extensive with many burgers and other items to course from. I choose the mushroom swiss and a side of fries (which is not included in the price of the burger). When the burger arrived it pretty much looked like any other burger from any other place complete with lettuce mayo and tomatoes. When digging into the burger the first thing that I noticed was the cook off the burger..... It was perfect! It was a gorgeous med rare and almost 1/2 inch thick. The patty was juicy and flavorful if not a little greasy but that's OK. The mushrooms were obviously canned and the swiss was pretty generic.... But it was all really good! The fries were another story...... The oil was in need of changing so they had a distinct burned flavor... Were very greasy and over all mostly disappointing. I would deed cone back... For a market street restaurant much more is to be expected when you stop in this hole in the wall style bar/restaurant. As their burgers are their main draw I expected to be at least asked what temperature I would like it cooked too, it seems to be that they do not ask what temperature their customers would like their food to be served at. Instead they all come out as medium well or well done. Except their Tuesday special of $2 burgers & $2 fries, it is overpriced for what is served. The cost of a burger does not include fries or any side of that matter. Their fries were hard and to my assumption reheated from a previous batch of cooked fries from earlier that morning. Having worked in a pub for some time it is not hard to tell fresh from reheated fries as reheated come out hard as a rock after being fried twice. Even the bun on the burger tasted stale and was rock hard. It was toasted and while this should firm the bun it should not leave it to a point of biting into a sawdust like bun. I also believe they should prepare lettuce squares instead of piling on some torn up iceberg lettuce. Besides that they seemed to be able to cut tomatoes and onions for the burgers dressing. While they are being nominated for one of Upstate NY's best burgers, I can not imagine "Upstate NY's best burger" to be cooked over medium into well done. read more
