Walked in and was told sit wherever we liked. Decorated with guitars and posters of previous musical acts who have performed there for concerts over the years. Service was good. The food took a while but there were a few large tables and probably that slowed them down. I don't mind waiting for good food. However, my salad I ordered was not good. Iceberg, a couple brown apples, feta, cranberries and walnuts. It sounded good on the menu but would not order a salad here again. My French onion soup was ok. My brother ordered a reuben. He said the bread was a little too crunchy. He ended up adding mustard because he said it needed something. There were hand cut fries and fresh potato chips which were good. I think I would stick to a burger and fries at this place. Don't expect anything fancy, but prices are fair, and I imagine a beer and burger while watching a concert is the way to go. read more

This was actually an unexpected thumbs up. The restaurant came up on my search for good food and it was actually pretty good. They have outdoor seating upstairs but we opted to be seated inside as we were tired after our journey. The entire place is musically decorated with guitars and trinkets of musicians on the walls, it was pretty cool to look at. I got the soup and half chicken combo, it was around $10 so it's a great deal. The broccoli cheddar soup did not taste like the usual soup we get anywhere else. The sandwich was alright but it just seemed like a piece of chicken was slapped onto a bread with some cheese. No representation, no veggies, nothing. My boyfriend got the burger and enjoyed it. He loved the sauce that came with the bang bang shrimp we had ordered as our appetizer. All in all, it's a pretty good place to get some food in the countryside. Definitely make the trip. The service was friendly, but that didn't make up for some of the saltiest food I've had in a while. My husband's fries were terribly overcooked and my California Reuben (a Rachel on the East coast) was just okay. The bread was of decent quality, the Cole slaw in the sandwich was a bit sour and the homemade potato chips had so much salt added and were greasy as well. I hate giving a bad review, but they will have to prove themselves to me for me to change this review. By the way, I asked for "no added salt", so I am assuming the food is very salty to begin with because of the quality of the ingredient. Food was good. The wait was not. Waitstaff, pleasant and attentive, but... the place was not busy and we had to wait an hour for our dishes. At one point I got inpatient and went downstairs to inquire, was told that our dishes were about to be served, and if "about to" means 15 minutes then yes, they were. Maybe because we decided to take advance of sitting on the deck and, being the only guests there, we were not too ostentatiously in others' faces? OK, the food (again) now, it WAS good. I was out here visiting family and this is the restaurant my 93 year old grandpa wanted to come to. What a fun place! I loved all the guitars and rock n roll theme. I had the salad bar, which included a ton of fresh vegetables, 2 soups and pulled pork. It was quite tasty and very filling! My husband had the spiedie hoagie, which was very flavorful. My grandpa has the California Reuben, and it was so big he could only eat 1/4 of it! The chips were kettle cooked and delicious. I was very impressed with this place and will be back! read more

I came here on a visit to a friends house. No music this night, but we came for food. Waited about 30 minutes for drinks. 45 min for apps and about an hour for entrees. I had BBQ burrito that I thought was ok and everyone who tried it said it sucked. It was large and very sweet. Also had onion rings which were pretty good. Pretzel bites came with frosting, waited about 30 minutes for cheese sauce. Nachos were a very large serving, but quite disappointing : beef had zero flavor and the chips were stale. My buddy had a sandwich which he did not comment on at all. The woman had a salad that was 3/4 shredded cheese and 1/4 salad. She was not happy. All in all, I would come back to see live music and beer, but I would probably stop before hand somewhere else for food. read more

Food was awful, bland and over cooked. Service was also awful as our server checked in once and a quick swift to ask if we were okay but never stopped to listen. Soda was FLAT and still was charged 7 bucks for two very small drinks in paper cups. Ordered two sampler platters and everything on the platters was rock hard. Flagged down another server to tell her about our food & drinks and check then ask where our original server was. When asked to have certain items removed off the bill due to how awful it was we ended up getting split checks nothing removed not even a sorry how can I accommodate you since! We stopped for lunch yesterday and there was no air conditioning on! It was 90 out! It was hot and stuffy. We waited to be served. When our meal( broiled fish dinner) came my husband said something smelled. I tasted the fish and said I think it's the fish. He tasted his and it was definitely the fish! Definitely bad! Smelled like ammonia. We called our waitress over and discreetly told her. We didn't want a replacement just give us a credit we would just eat the sides. Come slaw was warm and tasted terrible too! Didn't eat that either. The only thing edible was the mashed potatoes. What a HORRIBLE meal for $16.99. When the waitress came back she said I took $4.00 off your meal?! Are you kidding me?!! What a horrible place! Bad service, bad food equal never returning! My husband got sick later that night! I just had bad cramps but I had only eaten the one bite, thankfully! Not sure why there are not that many reviews. This place was packed when we arrived on a Saturday night. Great place to eat! This is a seat yourself kind of place. They have great beer and great food. We got the garlic bread for app, it was ok, would not get it again. Bread was kinda dry. It came with a marinara dipping sauce. The real winner was the burrito. I was kind of skeptical getting a burrito at a nonmexican restaurant, but it was fabulous!! It was very southern, filled with meat, sweet beans, and cheese. Came with a side of beans and cornbread... Remember, although three stars isn't a lot, it's still A-OK, meaning I'm willing to go back. First time there today, at least inside. Years ago, I went to an outdoor performance at Tags and saw Taylor Hicks (American Idol Season Five winner). Today I went with our usual group of couples, 3 sets this time, and we always ask for separate checks for each couple. No problem here. Lots of places to sit and we got to choose and seat ourselves. Sturdy, comfortable chairs. I'd say the decor is the very best thing about Tags. throughout the bar and eating area there is a great collection of guitars (and even one sax) autographed by past performers. Tags may be in a small town, but they always manage to get big acts, from many eras. It's a blast just going around and reading the names. Lots of TVs on the walls, 6 or 7 maybe. Instead of all blasting forth with sports events, every other tv had a movie going and the sound was turned down so we didn't hear any of them. The women's bathroom was cleaner than most I've seen. Lots of parking in their private lots. One waitress handled everything competently. Took her a while to warm up, but then was friendly and helpful. First we ordered drinks. My diet coke came in a glass mug with handle, plenty of (but not too much) ice. At my first sip, I noticed a strange smell. Doing some investigating, I finally decided it had to be something inside, like maybe the glass hadn't been fully rinsed after washing. Anyways, I sent it back for a new one and that was fine. The food was good, the usual high calorie, high sodium, high cholesterol offerings you find in most places around here. I chose a $10.99 entree : "Chicken Pot Pie - Homemade Chicken Gravy with fresh vegetables and a puff pastry top-crust. Served with salad or your choice of side." Served in a huge (diameter-wise) dish, it was a lot of gravy with tiny vegetables such as peas and carrots and lots of medium sized chunks of tasty chicken. I'm not sure about the "fresh vegetables" since that would be a lot of work to cut the carrots to that tiny perfectly-even cubed size (like you get in a can of peas and carrots or in a bag of frozen peas and carrots). The "puff pastry top-crust" was cut in the shape of two large baking powder biscuits and didn't hardly cover the top. Lots of flaky layers and very tasty, but again I wondered about the homemade aspect. Not exactly a "top-crust" as described on the menu. Finally, it wasn't until I got home and looked up the exact description of my entree that I realized I'd never been offered or given a "salad or choice of side". Sadness... My dining companion ordered the 1# Beef Barbecue Burrito entree and it came exactly as described, was huge and evidently tasty 'cause he packed up what he didn't finish to take home. The other meals looked pretty good, too. Some meals included potato chips and they appeared to be homemade. All in all, prices were good, sizes were more than generous and the decor was noteworthy. read more

I've visited quite a few times. Food: The food was average or below. Same sort of frozen food you would buy for home but cooked in a deep fryer or broiler. The mushrooms were oil logged and fries were nasty. Service: The service was fine when you could get the attention of the bartender or servers. Most were busy talking between each other. Then there was the constant distraction of the bartender/serve selling tickets. Could the owner be cheaper? Hire more than 2 people on concert ticket sales days during dinner and lunch rush times. Beer: The general beer selection was lacking and not in filled with locally made, flavored craft beers. Stouts and Porters were not represented at all! Everything was geared toward mass produced corporate brews. Nothing original or unique. Too many hoppy beers and not enough malts and porters. Workers: Really short on help, the business has had a few experienced workers but a cheap, mean owner. Business: This place has quickly gone down in recent years. Decoration: Lots of music icons and memorabilia inside of the restaurant. It's a bar with restaurant and $250,000 worth of gear and collectibles on the walls. Conclusion: They should hire help, add better seating, tables and chairs, and make HAND MADE BETTER QUALITY FOOD. EVERYTHING in the appetizer should be hand made NOT prepackaged, bulk frozen food. Another great place for wings, fish fry, and burgers. We were disappointed that they changed their Cajun wings from a sauce to a run and didn't know until we got our order. Service is good, although it can get quite busy on Friday nights. It has a cool rock and roll atmosphere with memorabilia from bands that have played there previously. Sometimes there is a magician that goes from table to table doing tricks to entertain kids which is fun. They also have good signature drinks and make them nice and strong. I love Tags! Today I went there with my mom and another family with 5 children who were loud and messy. Our waitress remained calm and patient and sweet the entire time. One of the kids even spilled a drink and I did not see her roll one eye at us. What a great experience! She treated us as if we were guests at her own home. She deserved the tip we gave her and then some. I don't remember her name but she had really awesome nails and long dark hair. The food was excellent too. read more

We've eaten here many times. It's close to our house and convenient. Our experiences have ranged from really good (food and service) to abysmal (service that is - one time the server took our drink order, said she had to go up on the roof to tend to some tables, and never returned. We left after about 20 minutes, having never received our drinks). I was there yesterday with my son, the rooftop tables were open, but we had to go downstairs, inside, to get our own drinks and order our food because they were short-staffed. We wouldn't have known this if another table didn't tell us. The food has always been acceptable, though. Not fantastic, but not bad by any means. I've been to a few banquets here, and they do a good job with a large crowd. One thing I like is the cleanliness of the restaurant and the restrooms. It's a consistently clean place. All in all, it's a nice local spot, but the service is wonky at times. read more

I was in Elmira, NY this weekend visiting my sister, and we decided to go to Tag's for a few drinks and we were then going to go through some of the Tagsylvania haunted houses. Being 22 years old, I had no problem with them asking me for my ID when we went up to the bar. The EXTREMELY rude bartender then stated that my ID looked "nothing like" me and asked for another form of identification which I gladly provided despite her observation being absolutely ridiculous. After providing her with other forms of identification, she stated that she would not serve me because my PA license had the words "under 21 until" on it which is something that all PA driver's licenses state until three years after one's 21st birthday when the driver's license expires. This would mean that Tag's would refuse to serve myself and other PA licensees until the age of 24 which is absolutely absurd. The rude bartender stated that this was "New York law", which is untrue because I had been gladly served at a respected concert venue earlier in the day with no problem along with several other restaurants throughout the weekend. The bartender refused to show me any documentation of this rule or so-called "law" and asked myself and my sister to leave. Until Tag's is able to effectively educate its staff on how to interpret out-of-state licenses without being rude and condescending, myself and my sister will not be returning to Tag's and will strongly advise others to do the same. I have not been treated with such disrespect at any sort of restaurant or venue in a long time. Very disappointed. read more
