It's a local treasure. The food is simple cuisine, real tasty and fresh. Highly recommend. I go there once a month. What a treat.

Quite disappointed with what used to be a very good place. The Cole slaw was not like it used to be. Someone who apparently was in charge was rather rude to her employee in front of customers something I am not fond of in any way at all. Understand a need for communication at times but never in front of patrons. read more

The WORST most unwelcoming slow service I have ever experienced. wasted an entire lunch break waiting for a chicken sandwich and fries. when it finally came out it was a frozen chicken patty on stale bread with no condiments. I was told there would be mayo but there wasn't any. when I asked for some you would have thought I was asking for their first born. when the person brought a cup of mayo it was a mess all over the outside of the container. needless to say, I walked out and told them they can keep it. paid for and everything. don't ever go to this place. read more

Love this place. Our family has been going here for years! Love the food and love the service!

For being a chicken house, their chicken isn't very good, it has a strange texture. Their fish fry was overcooked. Their food is just ok, nothing great. Service was good. Inside needs updating read more

We had bought my in-laws a $50 gift card for Curly's Christmas. And during a dinner at another restaurant before Christmas my in-laws inadvertently mentioned the last time they had eaten at Curly's and that they saw a mouse running around the dining area. My mother-in-law told the waitress and my mother-in-law said the waitress just shrugged and did not seem bothered by it. They then said they would not be eating at Curly's again. So needless to say we then did not want to give them the Curly's gift card. I went to Curly's the next day and spoke with the manager and told her why I wanted to return the gift card. The manager's reaction was "well that happens. it's cold outside and mice come in. a lot of restaurants have that problem.". I said I don't want to debate it but want our money back for the gift card. So she made a copy of the receipt and took the gift card and said she would call the credit card company and that we should get the refund in 7 to 10 days. So it's been over two weeks and nothing. This will be the last time we deal with this place AND needless to say we will "mention" this "experience" to whoever will listen. read more

Bad service. Use to be much better. As the prices went up service went down. Might be new owners? Sure miss it.

We went to Curly's Chicken House recently after many years. We were reminded why we hadn't been back sooner. The chips were stale, the BBQ sandwich was very dry and the fries were stuck together. Also, now they have started charging extra to use a credit card. We will go elsewhere for our Chicken dinners in the future. read more

I used to go to Curly's 55 years ago with my grandparents. I went back recently traveling from Florida. It brought back so many memories. I had the chicken of course. My husband had the haddock. It was delicious. The coleslaw was just as I remember. Just mix it in your bowl and heaven. The French fries were great. My husband bought me a pecan pie because I used to get it years ago. Yum. The coconut cream looked really good too. read more

I have left the state for the west coast, and already have CURLY'S WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS!! I ate here almost every day. The menu is expanse with many different options. Yet the slow roasted remains the showcase. I couldn't get enough. The service is astounding and focused on every guest. No better place to eat some of the best chicken, coleslaw (legendary since enjoying it at Vi Kasians suggestion), and mashed with gravy. Everything at this restaurant is delicious and more than worthy of a stop when in the Elmira, Horseheads, or Corning area. Well worth the drive and wait. Simply the BEST. Thank you for still kicking ass after all these years Curlys!! You remain tops in my book and a hero of so many hungry moments! read more

Best Texas hots you can have also really good fried chicken sandwich almost drive two hours before I headed back to Ohio from buffalo to order from here again this is a must try plus the mashed potato's are so good read more

I really can't be objective--THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD. I was not disappointed. A generous quarter chicken with one side (my choice--dictated by nostalgia--was cole slaw, which is jarringly sweet) was $9.99. I wish they still had the spitted chickens rotating in the front window--then the trip down Memory Lane would have been complete. read more

The chicken wasn't fully cooked and we waited 20mins while they served people that came in after us one of the girls put the dinner roll on the table without a plate and expected me to eat it. The atmosphere didn't seem too welcoming it came off racist I don't recommend this place to people of color adding 1 star because it won't post if you dont read more

The had delicious food and great customer service my waiter was so nice and I 100% recommend

Zero stars if I could!! Kristi your grandfather is probably beyond ashamed. Went for lunch one day and how do you not have chicken?? I also saw extremely rude staff to an elder lady the other day as well. Customer service went right out the door when Kristi took over. It's a true shame and embarrassing. Went back again to show loyalty and faith and our order took an immensely long time to come out just to be wrong also! Staff is extremely unprofessional, Unknowledgeable and slow very very slow with service!! If this place stays standing until the end of the year it will be shocking . read more

Came for their pint size coleslaw for our nanny who loves it. I'm not from here originally so each time my wife and I make it back to visit the fam from the west coast - we often always stop by to pick up some fresh slaw or pies. My first time having a sit down dinner celebrating our nanny's 80th and that was a decade ago. Friendly staff- great prices especially post coco. read more

lovely, clean, and charming. and then it goes downhill. they were out of a few things then the waitress rushed me to make another choice. we wanted the famous coleslaw which was course shredded and dressing dumped on top, and chicken gravy and it was made from a package! neither was good. I remembered something else! I ordered the Reuben, they need to learn what a good Reuben is! was soggy, way too much sauerkraut, 1 slice of cheese and I don't think it was Swiss cheese. and no 1000 island dressing? Rather than keep going on the problems with this meal I am going to say, don't do it!!! and it cost $40 with 2 drinks. read more

I have fond memories of this place as a child but we live in Schuyler County and don't get over that way very often. Today, my mom was in Elmira and decided to pick up dinner. The rotisserie chicken is VERY small. Smallest one I have ever seen. I can't even comment on the taste of it because it's so small I left it for my parents to eat. It's enough for 1.5 people MAYBE. And if it's good chicken, it's not enough for 1 person. For reference, we frequently purchase rotisserie chickens from Tops and Walmart so I am familiar with them. That being said, the mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious. Exceptional. The gravy is perfect and I am very picky about gravy! Rolls were also good. read more

Unbelievable cole slaw. Get it. I don't like cole slaw but I like this one! Tastes like there's pineapple mixed in...delicious. read more

Curly's Chicken House - a plate of food and a drink - Chicken Wings Near Me - Elmira, New York

Curly's Chicken House is definitely on the top of my list as a go-to take-out when I don't feel like cooking dinner! I got their Chicken Dinner with mashed potatoes and macaroni and it was the best I've ever had! The chicken was juicy not at all dry, the mashed potatoes were perfect, and the macaroni was easily one of the best macaronis I have ever eaten. The service I received was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Come here for dinner if you want to be disappointed. I was excited to come to a place that makes chicken and has it in the name. Where else would you think to go for good chicken? Lets get to the food. Chicken: they claim to have the recipe down and been roasting chicken for 37 years. That's how it tasted. Dry like the chicken has been roasting for decades. It there was a flavor, it was masked by the coarseness of the chicken. Onion rings: it's hard to complain about something fried, so I'll say they were average. Biscuit: store bought by the bagful. Cole slaw: texture was pretty well done but it was too sweet for my palate. Bottom line is you can get everything I ordered at Wegmans or whatever grocery store you enjoy for the same cost and better quality. read more

Curly's Chicken House - Half chicken, slaw, onion rings, biscuit - Chicken Wings Near Me - Elmira, New York

Curly's offers a great option for that home cooked comfort food feel. My favorite meal on the menu is the chicken and biscuits. It is perfectly put together with just the right ratio of chicken, gravy, and biscuits underneath. I love getting a chicken noodle soup as a side option, because it makes a great meal for later in the week! Thanks for the great service and making me feel like I'm at home and part of the family when I choose to eat here. read more

This place feels like you've stopped on Route 66 in the 1950s. Unique and quirky. Don't look for modern sophistication in a place like this...that's the point. Its more about retro. It's in a section of town that's been economically shrunk due to the highway moving, very much like Route 66. I'd stick to the chicken dinner and the chicken and biscuits which are very nice. Anybody who goes to a chicken house and orders a beef sandwich is likely to be disappointed. It's about chicken and pie. read more

I highly recommend EVERYTHING! Good raspberry tea, french fries and chicken!!!! The kids had fish sandwiches and their meals came with ice cream. If I had room left after the huge bowl of cole slaw and mashed potatoes, I would have tried the peanut butter pie. It looked really good and judging from the Reese looking candies on top, it was homemade. If we had stayed in Elmira longer, we'd have eaten here again! No doubt, to quote my husband's familiar baseball slang, "Winner, winner chicken dinner!" But I think that was because, they got to eat food when they won the baseball game. It still works, right? read more

We had Curly's catering for our daughter and son-in-law's wedding. Christy was wonderful. The food was delivered and set up in a timely manner. The service was great. The food was awesome! We served chicken, pulled pork with rolls, coleslaw, baked beans, tossed salad, and macaroni salad. Everyone at the party enjoyed it. Thank you Christy and the team at Curly's for making this part of wedding planning effortless. We give you guys 5 out of 5 read more

The best in town for breakfast and they're chicken and biscuits is like mom made them back in the day. Fast and friendly service as well.

Great little local joint that has been around forever! My mom and dad used to come here every Sunday night for dessert and since my dad and I were up here for the weekend, he had to introduce me! The best coleslaw I have probably ever eaten...and the largest portion I've ever gotten at a chicken establishment! The chicken was flavorful as was the gravy on the mashed potatoes. They also serve my favorite raspberry sweet tea! I didn't have a chance to try dessert but they looked divine! read more

I have never ate inside the restaurant until the other day. Here is a run down of my experience.: Waitress was fantastic. I had a question about ordering the new fried chicken off a little menu on the table. She said she thought it was for carryout only but would get her supervisor. Supervisor was a disgrace. The little menu was not marked carryout only. She said the first two options were in house and the other two were carryout only. She said it is not on the main menu so I can't order it, but it was on several of the tables. Thursdays they have been trying to promote their new fried chicken. She refused to let me order the family size. So much for trying to promote your new item. So the fried chicken was not very good. The outside batter left much to be desired. Mashed potatoes were great. I should have stuck with the rotisserie chicken. read more

Everything is good at Curly's, no it is not high end nor does it claim to be. It is good home style food at reasonable prices. The majority of wait staff are friendly (there was one girl, I think she was canned! who was a horror). We have not had a bad meal at Curly's. Really the only negative are their deserts, the pies are obviously frozen and not home made. That is one thing they could improve on. I don't understand the negative reviews, the place is ALWAYS packed!? I think a lot of people are not prepared for a place that has no pretensions about itself they are what they are. As for those who complained about customer service I find that if I am kind and friendly the majority of time that is what I get in return, try it and see if your customer service experiences improve. read more

Now I WILL STAY AWAY from this place !!!!! Was again in the area and thought I should try them out again since this afternoon the parking lot was full of cars. My thinking was FRESH moist chicken....., Can't miss. W* R*O*N*G AGAIN !! I ordered the 1/4 Dark and it WAS mealy and DRY AGAIN !! So I asked the waitress for some BBQ sauce to help me get it down. I paid the bill and told the hostess and she was shocked that it was DRY. * I stopped at a food place on Lake Street and told the 2 ladies about my lousy meal and they told me about the restaurant one had a friend that worked there before they closed and re-opened., so she had the "inside" scoop which was enough for me to never go back again. You'all can eat that slop. read more

A group of us " girls" from local high school went there on March 14, 2019... about 10 of us... I really liked the food and the server was a very nice young lady.... I got the half chicken dinner with potato salad and coleslaw... wow... their coleslaw is the best in the Elmira , NY area.. and the potato salad was very good... both tasted homemade... like your Mom or Grandma made.... the chicken was very good.... seasoned nice... I ended up taking some chicken, potato salad, and coleslaw home... my friend got meatloaf and wow, it was a big piece of meatloaf.. she said it was very good... they have tempting desserts in a front refrigerated case... I saw on other sites that people gave Curly's a low rating.. those people must be grumpy people !! read more
