On our way to Kome, I saw the sign for Donkey Mo's and immediately said "korean fried chicken sounds amazing!" we made a quick pivot and changed plans to try this new place out. You order/pick up food at the counter. Dining space is small, but still has ample seating. The menu had just enough variety (not just friend chicken) without being overwhelming when staring at the massive screen menus. You can either order ahead, at the kiosk, or with an employee. At a glance, prices all seemed reasonable. But when our food arrived the value went WAY up. The servings are HUGE. Biggest wings and tenders I've ever seen. We couldn't stop commenting on how massive the portions were. For being Korean wings, I preferred it to be a bit more oily. Sounds crazy, but they had a thick breaded coating and lots of meat. A little grease would've been helpful. My husband added the buffalo sauce (6/10 heat) and I did the sweet and spicy (3/10). I didn't care for mine. A sauce was needed for the wings but I would opt for the soy one instead. My husband said he was glad he got the buffalo on the side to control the heat. It packed a punch and was full of flavor. We also got the kimchi bacon fries. Wow! It was loaded up and was very sweet forward. For kimchi, I was expecting a ton more heat but at least the ingredients were fresh and didn't make the fries soggy. On Yelp, I saw they had soft serve but it looks like they took it off the menu. Bummer. But we did try the churros. I wouldn't get them again. They were pretty tough, but the condensed milk + cinnamon was a yummy twist on basic churros. Small parking lot that's kind of tricky to get in/out of due to construction and some pot holes, but still convenient. I hope this place does well! Fair prices, friendly service, and generous servings! read more

Gimme some Mo, Korean Fried Chicken. Been waiting for this spot to open up for a while. Koreans make some of the best fried chicken in the world and these folks didn't disappoint. The tenders were thicc and crispy. The wings were meaty and the sauces were on point. Next time I want to try their KJ bites which are basically dark meat, elevated mini nuggets. There's a small parking lot out front and the interior has enough space for 20+ diners. They also have several beers on tap to wash down the fried goodness. P.S. Please add rice to the menu. read more

I was taken here by a friend this week who's a Korean fried chicken connoisseur and wanted to give this new spot a shot. We had an excellent dinner. The location is fairly small in size and it was busy but they've prioritized seating so we were able to grab a table without too much trouble. We got a little bit of everything: for sides - brussel sprouts, onion rings, rice cakes, fries, and creamed corn; for chicken - three wings with donkey mo sauce, three wings with sweet and spicy, and three tenders with soy garlic. Brussel sprouts: delightful. Well-caramelized, nice sauce, appreciate the chives for balance. Onion rings: good ratio of onion to breading. Rice cakes: a standout for me. Incredible texture, well-dressed. Fries: pretty standard. Next time I'll try them with the toppings. Creamed corn: pretty much as expected, but a nice side as a balance for the rest of the meal. The wings were great - we enjoyed both of the sauces a lot. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the spice levels - donkey mo's sauce was listed as their spiciest at "three peppers" but to be honest I don't think it was even sriracha hot. The flavor was excellent, but it would be nice to have a spicier option. The tenders were incredible and might have been the highlight of the meal for me. Perfectly fried, and the soy garlic was wonderful. The staff here was super friendly, loved getting to meet a couple of them. Wish them all the best here with this new location - I'll be back! read more

4.5 stars I was pleasantly surprised by Donkey Mo's, and it's safe to say this spot will definitely be part of our rotation when Korean fried chicken cravings hit. Parking had me a little nervous at first, but we found plenty of spaces behind the thrift store next door, super convenient once you know where to look. We started with the spicy rice cakes (tteokbokki), and my boyfriend (who is Korean) and I were both surprised and impressed. Instead of the traditional soft and chewy texture, each rice cake was lightly fried to perfection, giving it a slightly crispy bite. The sauce was the perfect balance 50/50 spicy and sweet. Honestly, these alone are worth coming back for. For the chicken, we tried the garlic soy and sweet & spicy flavors. The garlic soy sauce was a bit thinner than expected and didn't stick to the chicken as much as we'd like, but the flavor was spot on. The sweet & spicy sauce, though, really hit the mark and will definitely be a go-to next time. Regardless of the sauce, the crispiness of the chicken was next-level, easily among the best we've had in Austin. The space itself is clean, minimal, and has a trendy, modern vibe. When we visited, there was just one staff member working the front, but she was super helpful, especially for first-timers, and kept everything running smoothly. All in all, Donkey Mo's is a solid choice for Korean fried chicken lovers. Great flavors, perfectly fried chicken, and a welcoming vibe, we're already looking forward to our next visit! read more

Yum Korean fried chicken in Austin! Donkey Mo's is small but the chicken packs a punch. Located in airport, the restaurant has a few seats inside and plenty of parking outside. You order and the counter and wait for your name to be calls. By husband and I shared 6 wings in soy garlic. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Pretty good for Austin. Next time I'll try the sides and another flavor. read more

This is basically a small neighborhood restaurant where it's probably better to get it to go than to dine in. There's only eight tables and 4 stools to sit at. There's no table service here, you order at the counter and wait for your name to be called. Yes the tip screen will be waiting for you after you place your own order and busing your own table. I played it safe by getting the chicken sandwich and fries. They do have 8 sides to choose from and I have to admit the fries are somewhat disappointing since they are clearly previously frozen. The chicken sandwich was good and I appreciated the fresh lettuce, but there was really nothing about it that stood out flavor wise. It definitely could've used a slice or two of tomato and perhaps a slice of pepper jack cheese to help it pop. They do offer draft and bottled beer along with fountain drinks. It seems they better shine with their wings and tenders. I'll try those items next time, but I'll probably get it to go. 31/2* read more

Normally I hate brussel sprouts. But donkey mo's has me changing my mind! Whatever sauce they use on these sprouts is delicious! They just might be the sauce kings. Their soy garlic sauce is exactly that-- the perfect combo of soy sauce and garlic, thicker consistency, not too overwhelming. The type of sauce I'd like to buy in bulk! Holy donkey sauce is just the right amount of spice for me, a spice wimp. Sweet & sour sauce was also good. And the chicken!!! We got 10 wings and the KJ thigh nuggets. Crunchy outside, moist inside. Was so starving I didn't take a photo. Enjoying my leftovers as I write! Now back to my food lol read more

I used to love coming here for their korean fried turkey legs, I was so sad to see they were no longer on their menu! I do think them moving locations from NW austin to central Austin was a good move. Their sauces and cook on their food are good. I always took it to go, but the food was always ready when I arrived. read more

Total fire. This was truly a treat. The Korean Fried Chicken was excellent here. We were surprised with the generous portions. The kimchi fries are loaded and mildly spicy. The churros came with a sweet dulce sauce, instead of filled with it like we're used to, but even those were perfect. Excellent service and dining area. I'm not surprised that we ran into friends here. It looks like a great place to meet up with people or get carry out. I'm looking up delivery options...really looking forward to coming back. read more

Got the sweet and spicy and soy garlic! Both are really good but I prefer the spicy. The spicy sauce is delicious!! Seating is limited, so we just got the chicken to-go. I wish it came with rice, but the 6 piece jumbo tenders is extremely filling so maybe have a 4 piece option with rice? read more

Unfortunately, it didn't lead up to the hype. Although the sweet and spicy flavor was tasty, I thought the tenders would be coated in sauce, rather than a small drizzle. They were also not as crispy as I would have liked either. The parking and seating inside the restaurant were very limited. read more

Donkey Mo’s - 6 Jumbo Tenders - Korean Near Me - Austin, Texas

Donkey Mo's has easily become THE go-to place whenever I'm craving Korean Fried Chicken! I love how big and juicy their wings and legs are without compromising on a crispy outer texture. Although the sauce options may be a bit more limited than some other Korean Fried Chicken places (such as bb.q Chicken), their Soy Garlic and Holy Donkey flavors really stand out. The Holy Donkey flavor in particular is unique to the restaurant and their spiciest option that's available, so if you can handle the heat, you'll absolutely love this sauce! They also have various sides from pickled white radish and fries to fried pickles and onion rings, which have never disappointed me either. The service is relatively quick so if you end up ordering in-person, it really shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes for your order! If you're debating trying this place out for the first time, I truly recommend it for your next Korean Fried Chicken craving! :) read more

I am always on the lookout for korean fried chicken, so I was excited when I saw that Donkey Mos reopened! The only other korean fried chicken spots I've tried in Austin were BB.Q chicken and Hi wings. Food: 6/10 I tried the chicken with their spiciest sauce and the second spiciest sauce. The second spiciest sauce was a sweet and spicy, stick sauce. It was nice but nothing too special. The spiciest sauce was not spicy at all to me. I do have to admit that I have a high spice tolerance, but it had zero spice to me. It was almost similar to the sweet and spicy. I wish there was more variation in the sauce flavors. The chicken itself was nice. It was crispy on the outside, lightly battered so it wasn't thick. The chicken was pretty tender and juicy too! I also got their fries. It was okay. nothing special again. Service: The food came out in a timely manner. You order at the counter and pick up your order at the counter. Ambiance: Good, very casual. Overall, I prefer both hi wings and BBQ chicken over donkey mos for korean fried chicken. bbq is my fav. but it was nice to try! read more

The chicken is fattier and juicier here compared to Don's or Hi-Wings, which has it's pro's and con's but their sauces could use some work. Pretty much every sauce and side dish had a little too much sweetness to it, from the the glaze on the brussel sprouts and the dressing on the cole-slaw to even the hottest wing sauce they have (not really spicy at all if you eat spicy food) definitey had a fruity flavor to it. If they had spicier sauces and maybe rice as a side option (c'mon, it's korean fried chicken), this place would be 5 stars. Nice staff and cool little shop. read more

Absolutely delicious!!! The chicken tenders, are juicy and crispy, the nuggets are made with chicken thighs!!! They are crispy and extra flavorful. For the sides, we tried the sweet potato fries, onion rings and the BRUSSEL SPROUTS!, all exceptional, ask for sauce on the side, so they stay crispy! They really know how to fry to perfection. No oiliness, and clean flavors. Sauces are good, wish the soy-garlic had more garlic and ginger, and maybe a hint of vinegar to bright up the flavor. The lady taking the orders is super friendly and service and the place its spot on! Thank you Donkey Mo's keep up the great food and service read more

Went up to Austin area for work and wanted to try out something different and what better place than one called Donkey MO's right? Located off Airport Blvd not far off 35 made it super convenient for me. Noticed this Korean Fried Chicken place on Yelp and read the reviews I had to come and personally try it for myself! Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and asked if I was ready to order and told them it was my first time and was reading off the menu. The gentleman recommended the Jumbo Wings in which is their specialty and I must say it did not disappoint! I chose sweet and spicy for my palette and being the fried chicken connoisseur I was eager to take that first bite! Jumbo juicy and crispy chicken engulfed my tastebuds with sweet and spicy tang it made my mouthwater hankering for more! Paired well with their crispy fries and ice cold Pepsi can't go wrong, I truly got my Korean Fried Chicken craving knocked out! The music and laid back atmosphere makes it for comfy casual feel. I highly recommend you give Donkey Mo's a try, I cannot wait to return when in the Austin area, also their draft selection is a plus too!! read more

Their KFC (Korean fried chicken) recipe is different from other Korean places but in a good way! I ordered the jumbo wings and chicken in hot dog bun with fries. The crunch hits the spot. The meat is moist and has flavors. The sauce is not overly salty, sweet, spicy, or sticky (you can request to have it on the side, if you want to dip instead). Fries were crispy and the portion was big. The food and cook of it definitely are standing out of the pack! The staff is very patient and explains everything I needed to know. The place is packed and I ended up being served by the bar next to their station. The parking space can get an upgrade, to fill more customers for sure! Fantastic overall! read more

This place was pretty solid! I would put it right below Hi- Wings for me. I got to try three flavors: soy garlic, sweet and spicy and sweet and sour (not sure about this one. I definitely preferred soy garlic the most. The chicken was fairly crispy but it was pretty soaked in the sauce. We got it to go so that was probably a factor. There's limited parking at this place and if you're a big group, there's not that many tables. I wished we got some pickled radish with our food. read more

I really enjoyed the food especially their sides. I got their nuggets in the sweet and spicy sauce with sweet potato as the side. I personally didn't like the sauce since it's a bit strong for me, but it's not spicy. The sweet potato was cooked perfectly. The texture and taste was great. I also had their soy garlic wings which was great! I do wish that their it was crispy throughout because the place will the sauce soak through wasn't. I got their fried pickles as the side and the batter was really good too. I also had their Shishito peppers which were slightly salted and not spicy at all. It was my one of my favorite because it balance out all of the meat. read more

Love me some Korean fried chicken and I missed Donkey Mo's from the Hmart days. We had a large group of 9 of us and more or less just ordered the menu. First the chicken. Definitely new school fried chicken and the fry is the best on kfc I've had in Austin. Plated nicely and the wings (flats are best!) are very crisp and crunchy and juicy. That said, they go light on the sauce, which is not really what I'm wanting from a Korean fried chicken experience, probably needs 2x to coat it thoroughly. Sweet and spicy is your gangnam style chicken and a bit on the thicker side but not that spicy. The soy garlic was my favorite with good salty punch and plenty of umami. The holy donkey is hot but not a melt your face off level of heat. As for the sides, the shishitos are excellent and pair well with the chicken in terms of being a fresh vegetable and slight heat helps cut the grease. The bacon kimchi fries are a bit disappointing - kimchi not that fermented, the fries way too soggy. The spicy fried rice cakes have some good crisp to them and sauced lightly as a modern spin on tteokbokki that equates well as finger food. The picked radish is also refreshing. Service is quick and friendly. The place itself is not that big and the music is loud, so it might be hard to take a larger group and/or chat at your table for what that's worth. Worth a go, especially in the neighborhood! read more

I thought the chicken was cooked well and it was perfectly crispy. However, the sauce was not too well blended with the chicken although the flavoring was good. Wouldn't say it is the best Korean fried chicken I've had in Austin, but not the worst. Good service, food came out fast. Friendly staff. This place is a fun low-key spot. Not a lot of parking spaces outside but when I went, it wasn't too busy. read more

Came to Austin for the weekend and my friend recommended trying this new Korean fried chicken place she had heard a lot about. We came around 7:15 PM and we snagged the last open table - everyone after us was told that they would have to order to-go until a table opened up. We split the 10 wing combo and were able to get 2 different flavors - sweet and sour & soy garlic. The fried chicken had a nice little crisp to it & was juicy and both sauces were very flavorful. For the side, we opted for the crinkle cut fries. It was a good amount of food and we both left with our tummies nice and full! read more

I am in love with these wings. I ordered both the wings and chicken strips. Next time I would only order wings because they are exceptional and a side of kimchi fries. The sauces make it over the top good. We ordered at the counter and the food came within 15 minutes. The workers were so kind and helpful. Not many tables and there is only indoor seating. Not what I'm used to from a Korean Fried Chicken spot. I got naked because I wanted to taste the fried chicken not hidden buried in sauce. Flavorless. Not a seasoning on the chicken. Obviously, it seems I'm on the opposite end of most other reviewers, but after having Seoulju (since closed) this place ain't in the ballpark. Wasted calories. read more

Solid Korean fried chicken with that satisfying crunch! The texture of the chicken is amazing, super crisp and juicy on the inside. Less sauce options than other places, we got the soy garlic and sweet & spicy - both were really good. We asked for the sweet & spicy on the side, and got the soy garlic as is - I do wish they tossed the soy garlic sauce with the chicken more as the flavor isn't evenly distributed. We ordered online to-go, which was super convenient, although there weren't many descriptions about the items. It was pretty packed when we picked up, so seating is definitely limited. They are missing some more traditional sides like tteokbokki, but I enjoyed the cream corn side and thought it was unique! read more

Yum. So yum. This place is close to my hair salon so we popped in before an appointment and so happy we did. There was a line, expected...it's a popular place, but no big deal it moved fast. The food is cooked to order and comes out hot and fresh and the chicken is perfectly cooked! Juicy inside and crispy outside. And the portions are huge, we didn't even get any sides and still had leftovers to take home. They also have some local beer on tap. Staff is friendly and they clean up and turn over the tables quick when people leave. Very impressed overall and I will be back. Probably in 8 weeks when I'm over here for my next hair appointment. "I can't believe we've been driving by it all this time and been missing out this whole time" - my fiancé after the first bite of Donkey Mo's. And she's right! I've been wanting to try this place since I saw their building going up on Airport and I was excited to finally give it a shot. We went on a Saturday around 1:30 and it wasn't too crowded. Plenty of parking and didn't take long to order. There was also a self serve kiosk to order and self serve water station. All of the employee interactions were great and they were nice and efficient. The inside was nice and ACed but not super big. Around 8 tables, but seating wasn't a problem at the time we went. We ordered 3 things, Nuggets, Brussel Sprouts, and Dumplings and thought that would be sufficient for the both of us. We were more than satisfied with the quantity. The "12" count nuggets turned out to be more like 25 bites which was a great split for 2 people. The chicken was very crispy and the sauces we tried were tasty. The dumplings and Brussel sprouts were also delicious, juicy, and flavorful and I highly recommend. Looking forward to trying all the other chicken they offer like the wings and tenders. I'm devastated Donkey Mo's is so far away from me because I can see myself craving this place all the time. My friend recently went, and her food pictures looked so good. I saw Donkey Mo's on Uber Eats and ended up ordering, and they package all the food really well! It came to me still hot. I got the sweet and spicy 6-piece, creamed corn, and chicken dumplings. I'm actually not the biggest fan of Korean fried chicken--it's good, but I rarely crave it. I love that Donkey Mo's chicken isn't overly garlic-y. The sauce is perfect, and it's not too spicy either.
