Donkey Mo's has easily become THE go-to place whenever I'm craving Korean Fried Chicken! I love how big and juicy their wings and legs are without compromising on a crispy outer texture. Although the sauce options may be a bit more limited than some other Korean Fried Chicken places (such as bb.q Chicken), their Soy Garlic and Holy Donkey flavors really stand out. The Holy Donkey flavor in particular is unique to the restaurant and their spiciest option that's available, so if you can handle the heat, you'll absolutely love this sauce! They also have various sides from pickled white radish and fries to fried pickles and onion rings, which have never disappointed me either. The service is relatively quick so if you end up ordering in-person, it really shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes for your order! Went up to Austin area for work and wanted to try out something different and what better place than one called Donkey MO's right? Located off Airport Blvd not far off 35 made it super convenient for me. Noticed this Korean Fried Chicken place on Yelp and read the reviews I had to come and personally try it for myself! Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and asked if I was ready to order and told them it was my first time and was reading off the menu. The gentleman recommended the Jumbo Wings in which is their specialty and I must say it did not disappoint! I chose sweet and spicy for my palette and being the fried chicken connoisseur I was eager to take that first bite! Jumbo juicy and crispy chicken engulfed my tastebuds with sweet and spicy tang it made my mouthwater hankering for more! Their KFC (Korean fried chicken) recipe is different from other Korean places but in a good way! I ordered the jumbo wings and chicken in hot dog bun with fries. The crunch hits the spot. The meat is moist and has flavors. The sauce is not overly salty, sweet, spicy, or sticky (you can request to have it on the side, if you want to dip instead). Fries were crispy and the portion was big. The food and cook of it definitely are standing out of the pack! The staff is very patient and explains everything I needed to know. Total fire. This was truly a treat. The Korean Fried Chicken was excellent here. We were surprised with the generous portions. The kimchi fries are loaded and mildly spicy. The chicken is fattier and juicier here compared to Don's or Hi-Wings, which has it's pro's and con's but their sauces could use some work. Pretty much every sauce and side dish had a little too much sweetness to it, from the the glaze on the brussel sprouts and the dressing on the cole-slaw to even the hottest wing sauce they have (not really spicy at all if you eat spicy food) definitey had a fruity flavor to it. "I can't believe we've been driving by it all this time and been missing out this whole time" - my fiancé after the first bite of Donkey Mo's. And she's right! I've been wanting to try this place since I saw their building going up on Airport and I was excited to finally give it a shot. We went on a Saturday around 1:30 and it wasn't too crowded. Plenty of parking and didn't take long to order. There was also a self serve kiosk to order and self serve water station. All of the employee interactions were great and they were nice and efficient. The inside was nice and ACed but not super big. Around 8 tables, but seating wasn't a problem at the time we went. We ordered 3 things, Nuggets, Brussel Sprouts, and Dumplings and thought that would be sufficient for the both of us. We were more than satisfied with the quantity. The "12" count nuggets turned out to be more like 25 bites which was a great split for 2 people. The chicken was very crispy and the sauces we tried were tasty. The dumplings and Brussel sprouts were also delicious, juicy, and flavorful and I highly recommend. Looking forward to trying all the other chicken they offer like the wings and tenders. This place was pretty solid! I would put it right below Hi- Wings for me. I got to try three flavors: soy garlic, sweet and spicy and sweet and sour (not sure about this one. I definitely preferred soy garlic the most. The chicken was fairly crispy but it was pretty soaked in the sauce. We got it to go so that was probably a factor. I'm devastated Donkey Mo's is so far away from me because I can see myself craving this place all the time. My friend recently went, and her food pictures looked so good. I saw Donkey Mo's on Uber Eats and ended up ordering, and they package all the food really well! It came to me still hot. I got the sweet and spicy 6-piece, creamed corn, and chicken dumplings. I'm actually not the biggest fan of Korean fried chicken--it's good, but I rarely crave it. I love that Donkey Mo's chicken isn't overly garlic-y. The sauce is perfect, and it's not too spicy either. I really enjoyed the food especially their sides. I got their nuggets in the sweet and spicy sauce with sweet potato as the side. I personally didn't like the sauce since it's a bit strong for me, but it's not spicy. The sweet potato was cooked perfectly. The texture and taste was great. I also had their soy garlic wings which was great! I do wish that their it was crispy throughout because the place will the sauce soak through wasn't. Love me some Korean fried chicken and I missed Donkey Mo's from the Hmart days. We had a large group of 9 of us and more or less just ordered the menu. First the chicken. Definitely new school fried chicken and the fry is the best on kfc I've had in Austin. Plated nicely and the wings (flats are best!) are very crisp and crunchy and juicy. That said, they go light on the sauce, which is not really what I'm wanting from a Korean fried chicken experience, probably needs 2x to coat it thoroughly. Sweet and spicy is your gangnam style chicken and a bit on the thicker side but not that spicy. The soy garlic was my favorite with good salty punch and plenty of umami. The holy donkey is hot but not a melt your face off level of heat. As for the sides, the shishitos are excellent and pair well with the chicken in terms of being a fresh vegetable and slight heat helps cut the grease. The bacon kimchi fries are a bit disappointing - kimchi not that fermented, the fries way too soggy. The spicy fried rice cakes have some good crisp to them and sauced lightly as a modern spin on tteokbokki that equates well as finger food. The picked radish is also refreshing. Service is quick and friendly. The place itself is not that big and the music is loud, so it might be hard to take a larger group and/or chat at your table for what that's worth. I was taken here by a friend this week who's a Korean fried chicken connoisseur and wanted to give this new spot a shot. We had an excellent dinner. The location is fairly small in size and it was busy but they've prioritized seating so we were able to grab a table without too much trouble. We got a little bit of everything: for sides - brussel sprouts, onion rings, rice cakes, fries, and creamed corn; for chicken - three wings with donkey mo sauce, three wings with sweet and spicy, and three tenders with soy garlic. Brussel sprouts: delightful. Well-caramelized, nice sauce, appreciate the chives for balance. Onion rings: good ratio of onion to breading. Rice cakes: a standout for me. Incredible texture, well-dressed. Fries: pretty standard. Next time I'll try them with the toppings. Creamed corn: pretty much as expected, but a nice side as a balance for the rest of the meal. The wings were great - we enjoyed both of the sauces a lot. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the spice levels - donkey mo's sauce was listed as their spiciest at "three peppers" but to be honest I don't think it was even sriracha hot. The flavor was excellent, but it would be nice to have a spicier option. The tenders were incredible and might have been the highlight of the meal for me. Perfectly fried, and the soy garlic was wonderful. The staff here was super friendly, loved getting to meet a couple of them. Yum. So yum. This place is close to my hair salon so we popped in before an appointment and so happy we did. There was a line, expected...it's a popular place, but no big deal it moved fast. The food is cooked to order and comes out hot and fresh and the chicken is perfectly cooked! Juicy inside and crispy outside. And the portions are huge, we didn't even get any sides and still had leftovers to take home. They also have some local beer on tap. The onion rings were crisp & flavorful- definitely worth another order in future, as was the creamy coleslaw (not vinegary/ bitter). The only other korean fried chicken spots I've tried in Austin were BB.Q chicken and Hi wings. Food: 6/10 I tried the chicken with their spiciest sauce and the second spiciest sauce. The second spiciest sauce was a sweet and spicy, stick sauce. It was nice but nothing too special. The spiciest sauce was not spicy at all to me. I do have to admit that I have a high spice tolerance, but it had zero spice to me. It was almost similar to the sweet and spicy. I wish there was more variation in the sauce flavors. The chicken itself was nice. It was crispy on the outside, lightly battered so it wasn't thick. The chicken was pretty tender and juicy too! I also got their fries.
