Side salad
Dale B.

The Factory has been around a long time. It carries a loyal clientele of repeat customers. I haven't been here in a long time . So this was my first time back in decades. No much has changed that I can tell. The restaurant is dated in terms of decor. The place is clean and in good repair. The booths are small for a party of four. The booth was cushy comfortable but uncomfortable because it was so tight. The staff was young and friendly and professional for the most part. The menu is one no page with enough choices to satisfy most parties of people. The prices weren't too bad in this hyper inflationary environment. We started with the table bread. It is kind of like a sour dough with a tad sweeter taste. The bread was a bit crunchy on the outside and a bit softer on the inside. Not bad with butter. Not outstanding though. I chose a side salad with my entree. The salad was fresh but very basic. Not much side veggies to give it pizzazz. The dressing seemed like a purchased item without much flare. My wife really liked the broiled fish and red skinned potatoes. The fish was nicely cooked. My other side was onion rings. I suspect that Halls shares this recipe across their facilities. The onion piece is a bit thin..too thin for me. The batter is a bit thin and very flaky. A tad bit of grease taste and maybe a little seasoning to break up the batter/grease flavor. The prime rib was very good. It was cooked nicely to my medium rare choice. The beef had a good beef flavor without much fat content. It was served with a creamy horseradish sauce instead of a raw horseradish. Overall the Factory is a safe choice of good food. They have several larger meeting rooms that might be good for a rehearsal dinner or holiday party.

Delicious complementary bread.

Yesterday my partner and I stopped by The Factory for lunch after running errands all morning. We were seated quickly, and our server was very attentive. We ordered a couple of drinks and bread with butter was brought out. It was really good! When our artichoke dip appetizer came out, the pita chips were nice and crunchy, but the dip wasn't the greatest. It had very little flavor and seemed to only have spinach underneath a thick crust of cheese on top of it. We couldn't find much cheese in the dip, as is traditional. We considered returning it, but decided to pack it to go in case it tasted better reheated. My grilled shrimp with lemon and baked potato with sour cream and butter were decent. The shrimp were so-so flavor wise, but they were well-cooked. The cocktail sauce was unusual, not terrible, but it wasn't my cup of tea. My boyfriend tasted it and agreed that it wasn't like typical cocktail sauce. My baked potato was good, if small. My boyfriend's sirloin steak had an interesting, sweet glaze to it. He commented that the meat was overly-tough, though it tasted good. His side of red-skinned potatoes was pretty good, though. Since we hadn't had the best meal, we didn't opt for dessert. Overall, The Factory didn't give us much reason to return, so it's doubtful we will.

Heather is a GREAT server. Very attentive and personable. French onion soup is one of the better ones in town. Love the ahi tuna burger, decent price point for it too. House made ranch is good. Greek salad is good too. Bread for the table is good but could use real butter instead of margarine. Turtle pie for dessert is a must. Ambiance is ok, could use some updating.

Thanks to the Hyatt Place front desk staff she recommended this awesome local restaurant that has people hugging each other at the front door and inside even with the bartender. Other words it is a local place and I was happy to be eating there before close after a long day of flights to get to Fort Wayne. Blue Cheese Wedge salad was awesome. The Ribeye steak with asparagus hit the spot with their peppercorn sauce. The sports bar area was my choice with the games on TV. The bartender has a bartender ear and her service was attentive for the enjoyable meal.

Salted Caramel Cheesecake -- Divine!!

Our family was in town, so that my son could attend a college ID camp for soccer. Not having eaten all day and not really sure what was good in town, the hotel staff recommended Don Hall's Factory Restaurant. I was a little unsure about coming here after reading some of the other reviews, but I was not disappointed in the least. As a starter, I tried the Loaded Baked Potato Soup, which was to die for. The star of the show, however, was the Raspberry Chicken. I almost ordered something else, concerned that the dish would be too rich for me, but it wasn't. It was soooooooo good! I would recommend that you order the wild rice with it as a side. It definitely pairs well with the chicken. (I almost ordered a potato side instead and am so glad I didn't. ) My husband apparently still had room after finishing off a very large prime rib dish, so he ordered us a slice of the Salted Caramel Cheesecake to share. I absolutely had no room, but I managed a few bites. They were bites of pure heaven!! I also enjoyed a glass of sweet Riesling with my dinner that was incredible as well. Not only that, but the glasses of wine here are very generous. Finally, I would like to note that the staff was friendly and courteous and thoughtful about wearing a mask. I will definitely visit the Factory Restaurant again the next time I'm in town. U highly recommend that you do the same. Bon appetit!

We came here for lunch and it was kind of busy, and we were a large group if 9 people. I understand that service dimin when there is more people in á table, but I've never experienced something like this. First to take our drinks order took around 10 min. Then food another 10. Food was good...I can't complain. I got the salmon with mashed potatoes and it was ok. The server had taken my knife, so I requested another...luckily the salmon was soft and I did not use it. But it never came. Refills? We got them when we were ready to leave. My partners said their food was good...so I'll give it another try before my rating goes further down.

Choice of booth or table seating. Can be a bit noisy, when tables of patrons forget they're not the only guests in the room, but not to the level that drowns out your own table conversation. Service is usually impeccable and Kiersten (our server the past 2 visits) exemplifies that: knowledgeable, attentive but not intrusive, kind, efficient, pleasant. Hubby had the not-your-ordinary wedge salad as a starter (pictured). Bacon, tomato, bleu cheese crumbles, hard boiled egg, and a creamy balsamic dressing. Very tasty! Me, always a sucker for good French onion soup (pictured), which I always order with no bread or croutons. Broth has authentic rich flavor with just the right amount of simmered onions. The only thing that might have made it even better would have been the use of Gruyere (or Swiss, instead of what seemed to be mozzarella) for the cheesy melt topping the delicious soup. Our chosen entrees tonight were the cashew crusted Mahi Mahi (pictured) served with orzo and fresh green beans, and the seared tuna (pictured) served on an umami blend of Napa cabbage and broccoli lightly dressed in sesame ginger, just-right heat, and peanuts. SO good! Oh...and you can see by the pics that the portions are well presented and generous enough to have some for lunch the next day! Truly a local fav! Great place for lunch or dinner!

Black Canyon (Dupont & Lima Roads) - consistently good dinning experience…read more Black Canyon is located on the very east end of the strip mall located near the Dupont & Lima road intersection. It can be found across the parking lot from Buffalo Wild Wings. There is always plenty of parking near the door. The restaurant is large with an inviting & modernly decorated bar and dinning area. The team here is very friendly and professional. They never disappoint. Making reservations on line is easy. I would definitely recommend reservations! On this night we were seated in the indoor-outdoor dining area. This area is more open, well lit and less intimate than the man dinning area. There were two large groups (12 and eight) seated in this area - nice for larger gatherings. You have a nice view of the lit outdoor fire place. BC has a very large menu. There is something for everyone. Overall BC is rather pricey but not as expensive as some. We started with our favorite corn bread appetizer. It's a simple 2-3 person dish. The bread is more like a southern cake than a traditional corn bread. The inside is soft, sweet and moist. The whipped butter is fluffy, smooth and makes a delicious accent to the corn bread. My wife ordered the southwest grilled chicken salad. She said the chicken was perfectly grilled and moist. The lettuce and fixings were very fresh. The dressing was very light and had a hidden cayenne pepper kick. The salad seemed to grow as you got to the bottom of the bowl - lol. My house salad was also very fresh. Plenty of side items to accent the lettuce. The buttermilk ranch dressing is somewhat unique. It has a smooth and light buttermilk texture without a strong buttermilk flavor. There are hints of ranch dressing flavors. Nicely done! I ordered the BC meatloaf. This was a mountain of deliciously blended types of meats, onions, peppers & spices. You could pick up the short rib, brisket, bacon and ground chuck flavors. The collection was moist, nicely spiced & seasoned and delicious! There was plenty of fresh and perfectly steamed broccoli - nice crisp. The Mac & cheese side was done to perfection! Nicely cooked noodles along with a very smooth & creamy white cheese sauce. It was so delicious that I had to scrap the sauce from the bottom of the dish. Overall, Black Canyon is an outstanding place to dine. You always feel special whether it's a special occasion or just dinner out. Time in and time out...food & service are outstanding!!

It really is a must try if you are looking g for a dinning experience. The facility is small and parking out back can be a challenge. Making reservations is easy on their website. I would encourage this as it is nice to have and be able to relax. The team here is great. Addie greeted us and quickly got us to our table. She was friendly, all smiles and quick to make sure our water glasses were refilled. Chelsea was our waitress. She made us feel right at home and welcomed. She made sure to follow up regularly with us and was very friendly. Corey, one of the owners and chefs, came out to meet us. You could tell that he was genuinely glad we were there and wanted to make sure we were satisfied with the cook. The atmosphere is very quaint. The dining area is small but overly packed or loud. The white table coverings and dim lights were nice. There was soft jazz music overhead and an interesting collection of local art work on the wall. I was surprised that Chance didn't have much drink service outside of beer and wine. There is a bar predominantly places in the restaurant but no liquor items to serve. The wine list was moderately large and had a couple items that would appeal to dry red wine drinkers. One of the things I like about Chance is the selection of small plate shareables. You can make a meal out of a couple or accent an entree as an appetizer. We like to get several of these to sample. We started with the beer bread. The comes with two large slices of bread. The bread is served room temperature. This leads you to conclude, at first bite, that the bread is a bit dry and stale. The bread is thick and dense. It does has a drier taste but it isn't dry. There is a good beer flavoring present. The honey butter was fun. The butter chunk was thicker and hard. The honey was drizzled over the top with possibly a little cinnamon accent. You had to work a little to get the ratio and spread you want. The beer battered mushrooms are still good. The medium sized mushroom is covered in a thick and crispy batter. There is a slight beer taste in each large mushroom. The mild horseradish dipping sauce was a nice compliment. We also ordered the rib tips. This is a small dish that is packed with lots of flavor. The crispy garlic chips were unique and tasty. The garlic is overpowering and crisp tastes slightly burnt. The honey BBQ sauce is delicious - mop it off the plate delicious! The sauce is thick and sweet. It has a slightly strong BBQ spice flavor. The jalapeño rings are well cooked and soaked up the BBQ glaze nicely. While tasty the jalapeño rings were slightly spicy to taste. We did order the ricotta gnocchi again. It was delicious the first time we ordered it. It was outstanding again. The gnocchi is freshly made and soft but slightly firm to cut. The ricotta gives the dish a slight cheese flavor. The tomato based sauce is smooth and moderately thick. The sightly sweet Italian seasoned sauce was a perfect covering for the gnocchi!

I'm happy they did. I walked in the door and was warmly greeted by the hostess and asked to sit at the bar. The bartender greeted me immediately when I sat down and grabbed a bottle of water and the stainless steel cup for the water and poured me a drink. She provided me with the menu and the cocktail menu and gave me space in time to make my decisions. I went with a glass of Malbec, and the deviled eggs as a starter. My main course was another small plate: the beef short rib with polenta cake. The deviled eggs were phenomenal and had a unique flavor and we're just right sized for one. The beef short rib dish was excellent and maybe a little more than I could handle it once after the deviled eggs.
