The best thing in Don Chepe's is the atmosphere. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The food is good and the margaritas are regular. The servers are super nice and attentive. If it's your birthday they will wear the big hats and bring maracas and sing at your table. read more

My go to Mexican spot near home! They have the MOST AMAZING beans, literally as soon as I walk through the door I ask for a large side of beans to dip their complementary chips. I've only had the birria and churrasco tacos cause they're so good I just keep going back for more. So many good things about this restaurant in the heart of Kendall. It's a hidden gem, the queso fundido was spot on from the queso to the chips. I ate The salmon Poblano it was soft and juicy. Kinda bummed because I thought this place would be a good spot to order from regularly. We ordered food online intending to pick it up. Order gets canceled so we called and we're told there was something wrong with the website. Ok - we placed the same order on the phone. When we pick it up we noticed the total is $10 more than the online price. All they could say was "oh those prices are wrong" ummmm... ok? Who runs a business like that?? Food was ok. Like many others driven by the place many times, decided to try it today with my wife. The place is not inexpensive, if you compare it with other Mexican places, it is expensive. I was hoping for great service and got terrible. Slow service without a smile. Got a drink and got out before I even had a chance to figure out if the food was good. It was a Tuesday night 6 PM. What a pleasant surprise when walking into what we expected to be a small hole in the wall in a strip mall. So well decorated and welcoming! Someone opening the door and welcoming you as if walking into a fine dining establishment. The server, Orlando, was spectacular. He checked on us frequently from afar and never had to be called as he was somehow always present. The guacamole was delicious, the burrito was huge and flavorful, the tacos fresh and tasty! Just discovered great Mexican restaurant in West Kendall. We were greeted at the door and the staff was very friendly. Chips and salsa are included. Food was excellent. The drinks were on the pricey side. Our daughter was celebrated for her birthday with the staff singing to her and a dessert with festive Mexican hats. We will definitely return. We visited this newly opened restaurant one week ago. The venue is beautifully painted. Lots of Mexican art to be found everywhere. The menu, a bit extensive. My main complaint is the lack of ground beef. The restaurant offers Carnita, chicken tacos and shrimp tacos. They even have pork tacos. Yet missing in action is the ground beef. The food is wonderfully presented. The service was a bit quick and robotic. But, in their defense, they had opened just a week before and seemed to be running short staffed. We ordered a macchiato and we were told that the restaurant had run out of milk! Visit for yourself. The chips are good. The salsa a bit watery but good. The queso fundido would do better in a smaller bowl and with a option of no chorizo. Not everyone likes chorizo. No ground beef so don't even bother asking for it. Ask for sour cream. Most dishes don't come with it. Why? Not sure. Don't forget to tip the wait staff. These people were working hard during our visit. Curious to know about your experience. It is quite nice having a Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. But unless these guys add ground beef to the menu, our patronage will be elsewhere. read more

I tried to find something I disliked about Don Chepe's when I first saw the prices on some of the food items but if I'm being quite honest to food quality and portion size justify it.
