Tried Ernesto's for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. This restaurante has been here for years but will now be somewhere I go often when craving Mexican food. The food was delicious with good portions. The tacos were my favorite by far. The quesadilla and tacitos were delicious but the tacos are where it's at! If you are down south looking for Mexican food, this is a good option. The inside is cute , the only thing that I can think that someone wouldn't like is that they serve you on paper plates but honestly I didn't mind at all. Service was fast and the man at the front was very kind.

Surprisingly good! After moving to homestead and having taco shops at almost every corner, we've had yet to find one worth going back to...until we discovered Ernesto's. The shop itself looks a little dingy and we opted to try it via UberEats. I was so surprised when my husband and I opened our takeout containers to find giant burritos and fully loaded tacos! The meat on both tasted great and the fillings made every bite worth while! I was pleasantly surprised at how good my tacos were. We opened up the chips and cheese, however, and it was....just that. Chips sprinkled with cheese. Literally. Not melted, nothing. Interesting. I should've taken the description very literally. Regardless of the chips, my husband and I were so pleasantly surprised at how good these tacos were that were definitely planning on making this our go-to taco spot!

Combo meal of bean tostada and a cheese enchilada. Comes with sides of beans and rice.

My go-to when I'm in Cutler Bay! Many choices for the Mexican cuisine fan. Everyone gets a bowl of chips and 2 cups for serve yourself salsas. I love that there's a whole roll of paper towels on every table! Very friendly and fast. Here I have a combo meal of a cheese enchilada and a bean tostada. The chips are tasty, not salty. Inside the space is decorated with a little authentic charm and there's a TV on with the news in Spanish. There's parking outside on the north and south sides of the building as well as next door by the (possibly vacant) fabric store. I used to go here a lot when I was regularly doing work in the area (before the pandemic) and now a few years later I have to say it's the same or better!

Dune in or take out ! I have been a long-time customer and the food has always been on point. All the staff are always eager to help and answer as all your questions. The service for me fot over 8 years has been on point. I love going in and listening to the banda music or Marco Antonio Solis playing in the back ground. Place your order sit down and munch on hot chopped Carrots. and Jalapeños with onions and fresh tosted chips. Save room for the huge Burrito with Carne Asada with guacamole on the side. Eat it with your hand or cut into it no matter what you do it is a Guarantee that you will fall in love with this place. Pro Tip: Order the Coke in a glass bottle or a Jarito de Tamarindo.

Ernesto's Taco Shop is a small Mexican place with a variety of options to choose from. Their menu includes anything from tacos, to quesadillas, burritos, to nachos and more! I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga and it came with the side of guac, sour cream, and tomatoes. It was very filling. The chicken was tasty. It just has a lot of refried beans! The California Fries were good. Shareable and filling. Think of the toppings that nachos have, but instead of nachos, they're French fries! I also tried their Passion Fruit juice. It was good, just wish it had come with ice because it got a little warm. Overall, I would come back to try something new.

Finding this place was kind of difficult . On google map it says permanently closed and Yelp directions wasn't helpful. I called to asked what was by it but the guy who answered wasn't much help and i could hear the hostess laughing in the background. I was determined to eat tacos so i ended up figuring it out myself. Carne asada tacos - nothing special about it. It was nice having guacamole on them though. ELOTE- my favorite . Be aware that it's spicy Chimichanga- lots of meat and was good Chicken quesadilla- good but lacked flavor Horchata- tasted watered down Probably wouldn't return to this establishment

After driving by this place many times, I finally decided to pop in and give it a try. I had the Carne Asada tacos, and a side of guacamole and chips. The tacos were boring, although I must say the guac on them was a nice touch. Overall I wasn't impressed, I might come back and try something else on the menu.

Cheese that was not melted and just one big glob.

I frequent here quite a bit but lately the quality and service has gone down hill. The flavor is non existent. Everything tasted old, which is why I think the cheese looked the way that it did, which was clumpy and like small pieces of cauliflower. The Mexican rice? Do you see how white it is in the picture? (No flavor and had a metal taste to it) No wonder it is empty. I always say, when a place is empty it isn't that great. Never coming back.

They have a good selection of sauces to put on top, and they're all very tasty. I feel like it's a better quality "chipotle" style restaurant. More authentic than a chipotle. You go to the counter to order and then they call your name when it's ready. Or they may bring it to you. The restaurant is nicely decorated. I really hope they succeed.

Seriously, who wants a taco that's just a ball of greasy cheese?  These tacos had an excellent amount of good-quality meat. The broth tasted notably different from any other I've had, but not in a bad way. If I had to describe the taste in one word, it would be "authentic," which can be a good or bad thing based on your preference. I also liked how nothing was overly oily or greasy. As for the sides, they tasted well but nothing crazy. They didn't leave a huge impression, but I did enjoy how I was able to alternate between them or even add some of it inside the tacos. I hope more Birria places begin to add sides because $20 for three tacos alone is unreasonable. You need around six tacos to truly satisfy your hunger.  Overall, I'm excited to go back to satisfy my birria cravings and to check out the rest of their menu.  If you're interested in more of my reviews my instagram is @miamifoodreviews_

Since they've moved to this bigger location, they've done nothing but grow themselves into a restaurant that has tasteless food, charges WAY too much money or overcharges you, as I will show from my pictures. They seem to have lost all those family values and now just sell food that has very little flavor. What the southerners say is, "they got a little too big for their britches." Today, after a very long time of not going there, I thought to try again as I used to love having their crunchy little hard shelled tacos. Since today is $2 taco day, what better day to go, right? As you can see, from the first image, these are being sold as their $2 tacos. I can assure you these are not even close to being actual or normal sized tacos. They're more like little chips. They got the smallest little flower tortilla they could find, put a little bit of meat on there and some toppings, and that's what they're calling their "tacos." They didn't even have any flavor to them. Then I asked for a little bit of their salsa, which I used to love getting their salsa and chips for free. The girl charged me $1.50 for this teensy little thing of salsa and didn't disclose that to me. I get the bill that I think is going to be $6.00, and when I questioned her because it was over $8.00, only then did she disclose the $1.50. She also did not provide me or my friend an itemized bill even when she took my credit card. If you're going to charge that much money for something so small, the waiter or bartender should disclose that to the customer so they have a choice as to whether they want to pay that much money for something so small. This used to be a great place to eat with really good, tasty food, and now it's just become a flavorless, overpriced mexican restaurant. Very sad. I will never spend my money there again. I wouldn't suggest you do either.

They had seating inside a tent, music blasting from inside the restaurant speakers, plus another speaker outside, plus a DJ on top of that. The entire place was chaotic and so loud that you could barely even have a conversation. What made it even more disappointing was that this was supposed to be a Cinco de Mayo celebration at a Mexican restaurant, yet the entire time the DJ outside was mainly playing Cuban music. It honestly did not match the atmosphere at all. I eventually even asked the DJ if he could please play some Mexican music because it was Cinco de Mayo. I'm Mexican myself, and overall I did not enjoy the food, the music, or the atmosphere. Our waitress was terrible from the start. Every time we tried to order or ask for something, she acted like we were bothering her. The service overall was just awful. By the time our food finally arrived, we honestly didn't even want it anymore. I ordered the carne asada tacos and they were disappointing. The tortillas tasted undercooked, and the carne asada was tough and cold. Then came the worst part. My friend and I split the bill and noticed that a 20% gratuity had already been included. Somehow, the waitress still added another 20% tip on top of each of our bills when she charged our cards. When we questioned it, she acted confused and like she had no idea what happened. We asked to speak to a manager, and instead of calmly helping resolve the issue, he was loud and confrontational. Another friend in our group kept asking for a copy of her receipt, and the manager actually threatened to call the cops on her while refusing to provide it. At that point, it honestly made us question whether additional charges had also been added to her bill as well. Because everything was so disorganized, it took nearly another hour just to straighten out the bill situation. In the end, the waitress had to give me the extra tip amount back in cash. I understand restaurants get busy on Cinco de Mayo, but this went beyond "busy." It was chaotic, disorganized, unprofessional, and honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. Very disappointed.
