I have heard so much around this place and I can confidently say it lives up to the hype! Finding parking nearby is a bit tricky as it is only street parking and there's only outside dining available. The music selection is fire though and I was jamming out the whole time while waiting for my food. I complimented them on the music selection and they mentioned the owner is dominican and puerto rican which explained the great music selection. I was helped out by Adrian and his service was helpful in finding what dishes to order. I took my food to go and it was piping hot, definitely made fresh to order which I enjoyed. The nachos were what I was most eager to try as they are all the rage on social media. They lived up to the hype and that nacho cheese is absolute gold. I love that it's served in a pizza box. It just makes it iconic. It travels well and everything was still hot when I got home. The Al Pastor taco was just okay, nothing to write home about but now the steak burrito was really really good. I love that they don't have rice in their burritos and instead replace it with potatoes, which is absolutely delicious. They give two different types of salsas with your order plus limes and the green salsa is unreal. Add it to everything for a flavor boost! So I've been ordering food from uptown 66 for 5 years. I live a few blocks away and it was our favorite place to grab a quick bite or late night meal. Ever since I tried their steak Caesar salad I've been obsessed. That was my usual from there for 5 years. 2 nights ago we ordered from uptown and when we got our order I was so angry I didn't want to even eat my food. 1. Steak literally looked like wet dog food 2. They no longer do the frisée salad instead It's just plain old Romaine lettuce 3. For some reason they stopped giving their salsa now which was the highlight of my order 4. The container is so small and the egg was so hot that it melted all the Parmesan cheese and it was just a nasty glob 5. The eggs were so over boiled that they had that grey tint on the yolk and smelled horrible 6. 2 salads cost almost $50 so jokes on us Never again!!! I've literally banned uptown from our house. Yesterday we stopped by here to get lunch to go. We did the online order on their app. We were expecting to get the same quality and service we got 3 months ago (5 stars) but unfortunately that did not happen this visit. We are very disappointed that the chicken and steak burritos were not seasoned very well (bland) and both were so dry. I couldn't even taste any cheese in the chicken burrito either. I took a few bites and had to give the rest to our dogs. What a shame. My daughter couldn't finish her burrito either. I tasted her steak burrito and it didn't taste like any steak that I have ever tried. So disappointing. The guac and chips were good but they were like a little side dish. So, there went a wasted $50 for lunch. We were still hungry. Since it was a to-go order, we didn't feel like going back all that way again. It was a very hot day. Service was strange. I sat in the car but my daughter went up to the counter to pick up our order. She stood there for a long time in the hot sun and no one helped her. There was a bag sitting on the counter already. Finally when she was helped, the guy said that the bag sitting there was ours!! She was highly irritated fir the poor service. He should have checked to see if his customer was there to pick up the only bag on the counter. The steak was tender and well seasoned, the cheese sauce was rich, and the guacamole and salsa added a nice freshness. It's definitely one of the better burritos I've had. That said, parking is almost nonexistent, and I later realized this place is mainly meant for takeout. The service was also a bit unusual. You could hear employees arguing in the back, so it seems disorganized. I personally didn't experience any issues with my order, but I was told this happens often. Uptown is one of those gems you feel lucky to have found. The food is unbelievably delicious, so much so that the fact that there is only outdoor seating and the chairs are not the most comfortable honestly does not even matter once you start indulging. I have become a regular here and always stop by whenever I get the chance. Their happy hour is one of the best in the city, with $4 tacos and $1 oysters. My absolute favorites are the chicken and barbacoa tacos. The birria is truly some of the best (they are not overhyped), and the oysters with their passion fruit mignonette are an absolute must an so surprisingly fresh. The staff is always so kind and welcoming, which makes every visit even better. Whether you are going for the happy hour deals, their famous birria tacos, or the nachos (trust me, they are incredible), I cannot recommend this place enough. I do wish they still had their wine margaritas because those were amazing too, but everything else makes up for it. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You will not regret it. I went to this location for the first time their happy hour is from 4-7 but only on food tacos and oyster. They don't sell alcohol anymore not sure what happened. I ordered their steak nachos which were good and also the oysters which was good too for $1 per oyster. I had a pineapple jarrito. But the person at the counter said the birria is their most popular. It was pretty busy and continued to be busy. I was very disappointed that it came with a used lime. One of my top two Mexican spots in Miami. I've visited 5+ times at this point. Not going to lie - I would say generally Mexican cuisine has been a disappointment here in Miami, but Uptown 66 is one of the bright spots. I'm a California person who has had street style tacos around my whole life, with very regional and specific dishes from Mexico at my fingertips. We do a lot of things well in MIA, but cuisine wise it's a bit tougher to find a good spot for this. Steak burrito is my number one here. Ratio of all of the pieces is pretty perfect - you're not going to just get a giant bite of .... One thing (my biggest burrito gripe). Incredibly well thought out burrito re how it's constructed and the contents. Everything is solid - the corn tortillas are I think a tiny bit thicker than I'm used to, but that's because there's lots of stuff in there. Get the churros - best ones I've had in Florida. Parking does suck - we are always ermmm around the corner ish. Well worth the tow risk though for this place. So I'll need to give this outdoor spot another try but every time I've been here (which has only been very few times) the service has been sort of slow. The last time being last night I waited 20 min for a burrito to go. They simply forgot but what bothered me most is I wasn't the only one waiting and all the staff was just chatting amongst themselves and not giving us any proper update. I literally was on the verge of leaving and going else where but then they gave me my bag. The quality here has gone down significantly. This used to be my favorite taco place in Miami, and I loved the steak burritos specifically. Now I get the impression that they're pre-making items... I asked for a burrito bowl with no rice and was told they're unable to do so. When you're charging $16 for a bowl, you should be able to remove an item. Came here on my son's recommendation, and while it wasn't bad, it didn't quite stand out for me. Parking was a hassle--he had to park several blocks away. Ordering was quick, and there were plenty of seats, but the first table we sat at was dirty and sticky, so we had to move. Thankfully, the weather was mild, but I can't imagine sitting here during a hot Miami summer. We started with guacamole and chips, which were amazing! I ordered a steak burrito, and my mom got a chicken burrito, both without chipotle sauce. However, something in them was still quite spicy--too much for my mom, who could only pick at the tortilla and left most of her whole burrito. Simple Mexican spot serving up classics such as tacos, burritos, etc. I will say it is a bit more Americanized Mexican than traditional. I got the steak burrito and it was pretty average. Imagine if Taco Bell started using real ingredients and opened a restaurant, that's what it tasted like. It wasn't horrible, but nothing special. The burrito was filled with steak, potatoes, guacamole, pico, cheese and onion. I enjoyed the red sauce that came with it, the green sauce wasn't very good and tasted watery. But VERY delicious, you won't be disappointed!! We ordered the elote (street corn), birria (braised beef) tacos, steak burrito, pollo asado (chicken) tacos and al pastor (pork shoulder) tacos. The items that stood out were the birria tacos and the steak burrito!! The birria taco had tender meat, but what made the taco was the crunch factor from the hand-pressed taco shell. The steak burrito had the best taste out of everything- juicy steak with pico and guacamole, smothered in queso and Chipotle crema. The marinade on both meats, and flavor components of each taco, were something to remember. We arrived 15 minutes before the restaurant was open, and there was already a line (so come early)! The food here is not bad, but it's been advertised as the best tacos in America and they are FAR FAR from it. I tried their Birria Tacos, Pollo Asado, Al Pastor and Beef. Birria tacos came with flour tortillas, which is just wrong. Regular tacos did have corn tortillas but were extremely thick - like 4x the thickness of a regular tortilla - which was just weird in textures and flavors. The flavors were decent (specially the birria was my fav), but the rest were just bland and boring... even the calamari was a fail (super overcooked). I got the steak burrito and it was massive, easily 2 portions, and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crispy on the outside with tender steak inside. The 2 salsas are also very good. This is a good place if you have had too many drinks and need a late night snack or need a quick dinner. They are open very late. Their margaritas are really good. Only issue is they do not have much seating and parking is hard. The music is loud and be prepared if you go late to be around people that have had one too many or are trying to continue their celebration. The 3 leches was good, but the milk stayed at the bottom of the tin, maybe because we got it all to go. There were these little edible balls at the top that kinda ruined the texture for me. We honestly love Uptown 66's food. Last week we even deemed it the best burrito in Miami. Tonight we ordered one shrimp burrito and an order of guacamole and chips. What arrived was one steak burrito and guacamole without chips. The reason it's a problem is because my boyfriend doesn't eat meat. So the guacamole pretty much was a waste, and he couldn't eat the burrito. We called the restaurant, and the person who picked up answered, "what's up?" I found that kind of unprofessional but not a big deal. We explained the error, and he said I'll remake it if you come pick it up. That really wasn't an option, so we said no.
