There are only two things I eat at this restaurant and most certainly the Taco Salad / Ensalada de Tortilla will not be the third! Absolutely tasteless, flavorless and visually pathetic. Plus the fried flour tortilla shell may have well been fried two weeks ago by the lack and look of it. To attempt to enhance the flavor I ordered a side of refried beans which somewhat helped. Of the restaurants we checked out on the Taco Crawl UYE Mio planned, this was my favorite! Portion sizes were pretty generous and well flavored. The staff was able to get a big table for our group right next to the window so we can enjoy the Calle Ocho people watching as well. This was a continuation of my recovery Sunday, and I'm glad that the menu had a larger variety than the previous stop. Our server started by bringing us complementary perfectly crispy chips and both green and red salsa. The red one, my favorite, was nicely spicy. The cochinita pibil order, garnished with pickled red onions, came out first as well as a delicious queso fundído I got to sample. My order was a very generous plate of chicken fajitas, with red refried beans and grilled veggies. Amplified by the salsa & pico, it was well flavored and sizeable enough that it can be had for takeout. As far as something, sweet, I had their batido de trigo (puffed wheat shake). Food is good; but beware of scam with service charge. When you get the bill they add an 18% service charge. When you get the credit receipt to sign, they have a place for tip (not additional tip just tip); they also conveniently include suggested tip for 15%, 18% and 20% which is calculated not just on the subtotal but the tax and the already included 18% service charge. If you go be careful that you are not paying a 20% tip on the 18% service charge. read more

This is a regular place on my rotation. For the price it is the best Mexican restaurant in Miami. All of the dishes are authentic and filling. I really like the chili relleno here. They're simple but so delicious, and they definitely don't skimp on the protein. They bring out chips and salsa to start, and the green salsa is spicy but I loved it. If you're craving authentic Mexican food (not Tex-Mex), then this is the spot for you! We were craving menudo and decided to stop by after a beach day. The menudo was delicious! The portions are great and the food is consistent. We came on Mother's Day and although they were busy, they sat us quickly and food came out without a long wait. We've been back here a few more times and have tried the tacos and some of the platters. Portions are huge! The vibes are also super cute with a sombrero wall and other fun decorations! I'm a Mexican food nerd and I'd never even heard of this place, less than a mile from home! Apparently it's mega-famous and people have been going on and on about it. I finally took the trip (in a downpour tropical tempest, no less), and spoiler: absolutely worth it. Everything was delicious, fresh and full of flavor and made with love. I moved to Miami from LA over 6 months ago and have been underwhelmed by the "Mexican" food, but I was on the hunt today, I knew what I was craving and what I wanted the ambiance to feel like and this definitely hit the spot! I knew from the decor, the rack of Mexican candy in the corner, the panaderia, and especially the rice in the salt shaker that this was going to be good. Traditional Mexican music playing in the background, families laughing, couples talking, friends catching up, all of it was very welcoming and felt comfortable, like home. One of the ladies greeted me with a smile as soon as I entered and was very attentive throughout, others even stopped by to check on me, making me feel like everyone who worked here truly cared. And yes, the food was good! My enchilada's were soaked in green sauce, and there was no hesitation with the cheese, exactly how I had hoped. We tried the chorizo nachos that we had last time and they once again did a fantastic job at tantalizing the taste buds. The cheese was melted and a great amount on top too. The Birria tacos were just alright but still yummy. I probably would try something else. Also important to know that the salsas served with the chips are both super spicy which is great for me but not so great for those that have issue for spice. There is a back parking lot if you bring your car but make sure you come at a good time. If not of course there is street parking on Lil' Havana.
