For what this is, I loved it! Had I not known a little Spanish, I would have thought that "Hijole" must mean "Hole in the wall" (instead of "son") because this place is just that. Like blink, and you will miss it hole in the wall small. Inside there are 4 tables that would each seat 2 skinny people and the rest of the floor is used for ordering and waiting for your order. The menu is not extensive but what they do have, they do really well. Mostly it is meat variations in authentic street taco format. $3 a shot or a bargain $8.50 for 3 and you can mix and match. Super tasty and the homemade salsas are somewhat creamy and revelatory. The ladies working the front are really friendly and kind and they put up with my attempts at Spanglish. They were out of Lengua on my visit so I settled for Bisteca and Adobado, both excellent with the obligatory cilantro and onion. If I have to find anything to criticize, I would wish for either 2 tortillas/taco (they only use 1) or an extra tortilla because the tacos are generously filled which means that half of the insides drop out while eating and after finishing, you have enough fallen scraps to make another taco or 2. That is kind of a passive-aggressive criticism because I suppose they could simply be less generous with the fillings and problem solved so my complaint is really a camouflaged compliment. If in the area and needing tacos, give this place a try...I certainly vouch for it!

Carne asada tacos and carnitas tacos with Jamaica 5/5

I'm from socal and have been trying to find authentic Mexican food in Miami. This is by far the closest I've found. Carne asada and carnitas tacos are yum! Carnitas are tender and fatty. They load the tacos up with so much meat. The prices are super reasonable for the amount ur getting. They serve a rlly good Jamaica 5/5 for sure. I doordashed the food and the only thing I would change is the way the salsas are packaged. They come in bags instead of containers. Also wish they had a spicier salsa. Besides that it was yummy! My go to taco spot now.

Immaculate & epic are the best words to describe the food here. The flavors are exquisite to say the least. Authentic Mexican food with fresh flavors and amazing choices of sauce. The service and ambiance are amazing. I've eaten here multiple times and i've tried the Birria tacos, nachos, tacos, and the burrito all were excellent. Strongly recommend coming here.

Steak burrito lettuce, Pico to Gallo and no Cheese

Coming from California ... Yelpers hands-down this is the best authentic Mexican food in Miami! I had a steak burrito here with no cheese that was absolutely delicious. You can get their burrito with any type of meat you would like from pork, beef or chicken. I love the fact that they were very welcoming even though they did speak great English. They TRIED which I was happy about and I spoke the best Spanish I could to make sure my order was correct! It is a small restaurant/ business with table to eat for 2. The owner was awesome and wanted to make sure I was taken care of. They are originally from Cali which was awesome! Great food I'll definitely be back. Thank you so much for this yummy burrito

If you want real, authentic, delicious Mexican food this is the place! I was dying for some birria tacos and this place met all my expectations. Staff is super friendly, place is clean and they have many options at a good (really good) prices. We also had the flautas, crunchy and delicious. I'm Mexican so you can 100% trust my review, grateful I found a good local spot for my cheat meal

Steak sope- delicious!!!

Food was awesome! Service was great - the staff was super friendly and accommodating. I just ate my birria tacos and want to go back to see what else they have! . The meat was juicy and flavorful. My sister got fish tacos and daughter got the sopes ( she got 2 but only ate one because she was so full)! I will be back!!!

From Left to Right: Guacamole with chips, Birria QuesaTaco, consomé and elote. At the front, different small baggies of hot sauces.
Brenda C.

The food had its ups and downs... overall good. For starters, the guacamole was fresh, but lacked taste/flavor. The chips on the other hand, had a great authentic and fresh taste. Definitely home made. The Birria tacos were exceptional to say the least! Had lots of flavor and tasty, cheesy and more than well portioned! Delicious! The elote was on the same boat with the guacamole. Lacked flavor, but had a nice bold and flavorful cojita cheese on top. I added paprika/cayenne and it was great! Will come back to try the Enchiladas Verdes. Super inexpensive too and great customer service!

We went here between January 27 & February 6/2026. La Potranca has five Florida locations, but this cantina does not feel like a chain. Authentic sabor Mexicano with an excellent friendly staff. Family friendly & handi-able accesible from the parking lot. This location gets full by 7pm but there is extended service & seating in the common covered courtyard. Plenty of parking in this strip mall location. Service is excellent, fast, & great choices of tacos & drinks. You can choose from 14 different meats/cuts for your tacos, including birria & al pastor. Bow to the taco! Also gringas, vampiros, & burritos. They have bowls (they're BIG) & brunch. p.s. try the churros with 3 dipping sauces. Drinks are extra special here. The clamato & beer cocktail is very unique. Served in a Tajin rimmed large mug, with lime & a tamarind wrapped straw. Excellante! Also a variety of margaritas served in whimsical glasses & their three house cervazas (beers) on draft. La Potranca pays homage to iconic singer & actor Vincente Fernandez "King of Ranchera". Check out the interesting connection with the staff or online. The staff here is excellent. Very helpful when navigating the menu. Very friendly. True professionals. Special shout out to Mauricio & Ralphael - you hombres make this place truly special. Mucho Gracias. We give La Potranca our highest recommendation. The hardest part about dining here was deciding what I wanted to order. I could have ordered the entire menu it looked so good! Helpful tip... check out the menu and know what you're going to order before you get in line. Otherwise you're going to be pressured to order at the front of the line. When you walk in, you place your order and pay for it and take a table number. You need to find your own table. Our service was pretty quick, despite how busy the restaurant was. My cold brew was very good and a nice start to the meal. Our guacamole came next and it was nicely styled with pomegranate, cheese and cilantro on top. Yum! The real star of the show for me was this unassuming looking House Club Sandwich that was to die for. Seriously ... it was so good. I ordered mine without the ham, and it was divine! I wish i lived closer. I'm already dreaming of coming back. My son ordered some kind of short rib/beef burrito and it disappeared so quickly I didn't even get to snap a photo. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a great meal, I highly recommend it. One thing I can say is that it's on the pricey side. $113 lunch for 2 added up super fast but it was well worth it. I'll be dreaming of that sandwich til my next visit!

I ordered the mahi mahi tacos, and while they tasted ok, the portion size felt pretty small for the price. Overall, it came across as a bit overpriced for what you get. The service style is more casual and self-directed. You order and pay at the register, get a number, and then find your own seat while they bring the food out to you. Water is self-serve, and once you're done with your meal, you just head out. There's minimal interaction with staff, which might appeal to people who prefer a more low-key, independent dining experience or want a place to sit and work without being interrupted. That said, the service did not feel very friendly or welcoming. And personally, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed.
