Back in December 2019, we picked up takeout here on our way home. It was a last minute decision based on whatever eateries were popping up on our phones as we drove toward Palmdale. Well, we chose wisely. The food was amazing! The gal at the front who took our order was sweet, making sure we had everything we ordered before we left. I only wish I could remember the exact dish I ordered because it was delicious, and I would love to have it again when the world gets back to normal. This is the worst Mexican Food in the Antelope Valley and way too over priced. The person who took my order got it wrong. I had to go back and get what they had forgotten, which happened to be my moms food. Only to get home and realize my food was wrong as well. First time trying this place on 8/24. It was surprisingly good and I order the classic margarita on the rocks with chicken tortilla soup. I saw the portion sizes everyone else in my party ordered and they looked big! I didn't try anything else but I'd definitely be back. The margarita was tasty and just the way I like it. Not too sweet and not watered down. The soup was good but it didn't beat my favorite place yet. The location has plenty parking and the restaurant is big. Plenty of space if you ask me. Lunch here on a Friday afternoon was Veggie Enchiladas, filled with fresh mushrooms, fresh spinach, chopped tomatoes and onions, with tomatillo green sauce, and a slice of avocado on top. Asked for it to be made without cheese and was happily accommodated. Served with rice and black beans of the day. Ate every last bite! Can't wait to come back! My fiancee and I go here at least 2 times a month. The food is great, the staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs, and very quick with refills, grabbing the bill etc. I have never had a bad experience here, and I will continue to keep going. read more

Hadn't been to this restaurant since before the change in ownership. I was happily surprised by all the flavor in the Arroz con Pollo. My wife had the Veggie Enchiladas and cleaned her plate. Salsa was tasty. Portions were favorable and it is a relaxed atmosphere. Friday night Tequila Tasting from a local distributor from 7-9pm (I don't drink any more but) sounds like a blast. The food is delicious. However, I predict it will close by the end of next year. The staff is flippant and dismissive. Everything takes forever from ordering to getting a drink refill. The prices are absolutely outrageous for and Antelope Valley restaraunt! This is why it will close. I did not know this place was no longer don Juan's until I looked at the menu. The best part about this restuarant is the waiter. He was very friendly and attentive. The food was way over priced and not as good as don Juan's. It still has the same set up and decor but for the east side of Palmdale those prices are a little high. read more

I went here because el toreo east closes at 9 and this place stays open a little later pretty standard food nothing special big complaint is I ordered the asada plate that comes with a cheese enchilada they should have called it the cheese enchilada plate the piece of asada was smaller than a dollar bill and tastes like a piece of rubber mixed with dirt what a rip off for 22 bux avoid this dump restaurant they didn't change anything it's still don Juan's ( which was garbage) with a new sign next time I'll drive to the valley ...save your money don't eat here ! read more

I used to go to pedros Mexican restaurant but their food started getting bland and the prices kept going up.. we tried Don chatos once and it became the spot to come have micheladas and delicious wallet friendly food with my wife and kids. The worst Mexican food ever, the chicken quesadilla was gross, tasted funky, like the chicken had turned, the beef burrito, the meat was so tuff, I couldn't eat it. Salad old and gross. When we brought it to their attention, we got 1.00 off our bill. The only thing good was the beer. My grandson didn't even like his chicken tenders. Been there a few times after Don Jauns closed. I ordered tacos and fajitas mostly which were ok but last night ordered the burrito verde and it was bad. This was delicious when it was Don Jauns but this one was like a bean burrito with rice and beans. Very dry due to the amount of beans in the burrito and this is supposed to be a wet burrito. Don Jauns was 100% pork with a very tasty chili sauce. I complained about it to the waitress but didn't get much of a response and no offer of any discount. I absolutely love Mexican food and wanted to try this place out because it had really great reviews on yelp. I'll be honest it wasn't as great as the reviews said it was. I ordered the Asada plate and when I started to eat the meat tasted like liver. No joke because even my partner's meat tasted like liver. The reason for my two stars is due to service. I am an old customer of Don Juans for 26 years and when they sold out I was very shocked. I went to Don Chato in Acton a few times and was under impressed. This, however, is a different story. Very good service, friendly employees with a manager who actually comes and speaks with you. The portions are generous and wonderful with unusual items to select from.
