Follow up on original email - basically my dresser was damaged during delivery and all the emails received from Dolly were "Accidents do happen", offers of a discount or refund, or the process of submitting a formal claim. The Dolly email communications, seemed to me, were more that Dolly was more worried about deducting pay from the Dolly Helpers than what happened to my dresser. I can see from the reviews that people are happy about the price and the services that they received - but again have the knowledge that you do not know how much experience your Dolly Helper has in moving - and you do get what you pay for. Original email - On March 25, 2017 I had a large dresser delivered. The Dolly helpers were punctual, polite and helpful moving the old furniture to the garage but...the dresser was delivered damaged. The dresser was inspected right before the Dolly pick up and was fine. I looked at the dresser when it was moved to my bedroom and did not readily see any visible damage. A little bit later when I started to clean the dresser I noticed a deep gash in the upper left-hand drawer - the top of the drawer. It's not a scratch but a deep gash. I have pictures of the damage. Just know - you get what you pay for - and you do not know until they show up who you are going to get as far as experience and equipment. Dolly would be okay if you are just moving junk out of your garage and/or something you no longer care about to Goodwill, etc. but if it's something dear to you and/or expensive, please think again. read more

I hate moving more than anything. These guys got all my big stuff loaded in like 45mins.--it was amazing!

The helper canceled during the scheduled delivery time, not just before but during. It was late in the day (6pm)so this left us no time to reschedule that day. When we rescheduled to the following day, no helpers were assigned during the first time, so we rescheduled again. Again no helpers showed up. During all of this I called 3 times, and after severely long wait times no answer from Dolly and left a voicemail twice. No call back from Dolly's customer support. I also submitted two online support requests only one of which was answered in which they didn't address anything I said and only told me what the app already told me. That no helpers were assigned. I asked to cancel my dolly and they were more than happy I did. I went with another delivery company who showed up and kept me informed the whole time. So their slogan is incorrect. This was no where near hassle free. Also I paid only $10 more than I did at Dolly.. so if I can get fast support, locked in delivery times and a communicative staff who assembled my couch for no extra charge, then the $10 is well worth it and your company isn't even competing. read more

I was stressing about moving some boxes and suitcases to a new apartment. I didn't have enough stuff to warrant a real mover, but too much stuff to do it easily on my own. Then a store owner told me about Dolly -- a kind of Uber for moving. It was great -- I was able to do it all on my phone and I didn't even need cash for tips. I was also able to reschedule repeatedly when my plans changed, which it was easy to do with the app. read more

It has been 6 weeks since we filed our claim with Dolly after the mover severely scratched our newly finished hardwood floors. I was told it would be 4 weeks to receive our check for the damage but now I am emailing and calling daily with no real answers. The response I got today was the excuse of the timeliness to 'print the check and have it signed by multiple people.' Unprofessional company I would never recommend to anyone. read more

This is exactly the type of app I've been hoping for! Simple & straightforward! They handle all of the legwork and make your life so much easier! Use this app. I bought an armoire on Craigslist and had no way to easily transport it. Just an update, I bought two large sofas (105 inches) and figure I'd try Dolly again this past weekend. My second experience ended being a lot better. They were maybe 30mins late, but I don't think it was in their control as the company they picked up the furniture might of been slow getting the furniture in their hands. They had a regular flatbed pickup truck but the sofas were covered so they did not get wet from the rain, when they got to my house, they were in and out within 10mins. read more

Tried Dolly for the first time tonight to move a 236lb elliptical machine. Cost a little bit more that what an uhaul would have cost but the time and energy savings was definitely worth it. The Dolly 'helper' was on time, courteous, and moved the elliptical up the 2 flights of stairs. Will definitely look into using Dolly again in the future. read more

We used 'Joel G.' and helper 'Shewit G.' to move our belongings out of our apartment and pack them into moving containers. They were prompt, fast, and efficient. They did a really great job in packing our containers. Nothing shifted or got banged around, nothing broke or was damaged even though it was a multi-state move. So great job! Plus, the cost is certainly WAY better than most 'movers' - even with giving a good tip for great service. read more

I needed to have a bed, mattress and frame moved, from a friend's house to our house, and we also had an old toilet sitting around in the garage that I wanted to dispose of but wasn't sure how. I had never heard of Dolly, but they really saved me! I had a last-minute moving job too big for me to do, but too small for a big moving company--and I wanted something more reliable than Craig's List. Within 30 minutes, I had my two helpers signed up. They were prompt, super friendly, and did a careful, thorough job. They were excellent about checking in with me about any specific requests I had, and I felt super comfortable having them work in my home. Will definitely use this service again. It wasn't super cheap, but I prefer having the reliability of a known company to work with. My only question is how much of the fee goes directly to the workers, and how much goes to Dolly. I hired Dolly to help move my couch. Wrote on my request I needed to have it moved through the 2nd floor balcony and they said it would be doable before we left to the second location. We got to the second location and they said it was too risky. Which was understandable. I asked to have it taken back to the first location since it couldn't be fit into my new place. I was upcharged an additional $63. So I ended up paying $155 to have my couch back and forth. I wished they had discussed it further before I had to pay for additional transport. I had a miserable experience with Dolly. I was originally told about the app by my friend who used their services and had a good experience. I was excited for an inexpensive yet reliable moving option. I requested the Dolly on Monday, 3/28 for service on Friday, 4/1 at 8am. The Dolly was confirmed shortly after requested, at around 5:45pm on the evening of the 28th. I made many arrangements around the Dolly booking. I took off work, scheduled cleaners and confirmed a sublet based on the schedule of the Dolly. Then, at 8:45pm on 3/31 (less than 12 hours before they were scheduled to arrive), I received a notification that my Dolly needed to be rebooked, and that they would update me once it was rescheduled. Of course, this notification was sent after their service hours, so I was not able to get in touch with anyone from customer service. Now, I am scrambling for a backup plan so that my move can remain on schedule. Their cancellation policy states that if the customer cancels a Dolly within 24 hours of the scheduled time, they will incur a 20% charge. Yet, the service provider can cancel just 12 hours before with no ramifications? Extremely poor customer experience. Don't waste your time with it, hire reliable professionals. read more

What an absolute mess, these guys should just save all of us the trouble and put themselves out of business! The company works very similar to Uber. They're contracted delivery companies that get together to deliver your items. Maybe the location I bought from or the location they delivered to was out of service... But I was made certain promises that were never carried forward! From the get go, I was lied to by customer service, I got in touch with the manager, who made additional promises that were not as expected, all the way to the delivery drivers themselves simply seemed to want to get onto the next job. I would not recommend using this company whatsoever. I bought a new couch set from big lots and this is the delivery company that they use. Delivery is cheap, but it comes at a big price: total frustration!! I've spoke to several different managers and employees from an assortment of the big lot stores... They all seem to have the same complaint. Dolly simply just does not take care of their clients. However big lots uses them because that's what corporate wants. My complaint with Dolly fell on deaf ears... The manager that called me back was a complete joke! If Dolly is your only option, then just prepare yourself. Otherwise try to find a pick up truck and a couple of friends to move your items. read more

Not a problem - for $30 I was able to schedule a dolly with one day's notice to pick up my chair and bring it straight to my door. I used Dolly for the first time to move a bed frame. The helper they sent was Patrick and he was awesome. Very efficient and quick. Also just a really nice guy. What I like the most about this service is that they give you a quote right away and set you up with a mover within 30 minutes. Our original helper did not show up at the scheduled time, so we left a message (with the main helpline) and didn't hear from anyone for another half hour. I called back and was connected with an agent this time, who helped us find another helper. Fast forward to two hours after the end of our scheduled window and two new helpers arrive. I will say our helpers were awesome and did a great job with our move. But we did run into more trouble when we had to make an adjustment to our rate because the movers needed to walk up a few stairs (literally) at the first location... Overall this was a frustrating experience, but if the movers would have showed up on time and not charged us for a very small inconvenience, I would definitely recommend using them for micro moves. The mover showed up at the location of our furniture pickup and doubled the amount at the last minute on the app. I never approved and was trying to cancel but once the mover realized I wanted to cancel, he "completed" the trip on the app and I was charged $60 for no service provided!! I still dont have my furniture. On top of that he was late by an hour and a half from his original arrival time, he "started" the move in the app before he even got to the pickup location which could have potentially let us avoid all this if he would have waited until he actually did anything. Also the app was not efficient. After the mover adjusted the amount/doubled it, the app had no option to decline, only accept and it would not let me go back to the messages to reply to him at all. read more

Very easy to find help to transport something, and you get a profile of the main worker and also track their progress on the way to the destination. So glad I saw their ad, had been meaning to donate a large item for quite a while. read more
