Yesterday I bought several bookcases at IKEA as-is, which meant that they were pre-assembled and would not be delivered by IKEA. The only option given by IKEA for delivery was, therefore, Dolly. I signed up for a delivery window between 10am-12pm today, just thinking that I would need it by 12pm. (I honestly anticipated they would run late, and I had to leave by 1:30pm.) It ended up being $101, which negated most of the discount on the as-is bookcases, but no matter. A text tells me that the Dolly helper will be starting my Dolly order between 10-10:30am. Come this morning, I get notified at 9:10 that my Dolly is on the way: I'm surprised, wondering if they'll arrive early. At 10:16, I'm notified that my Dolly is arriving at the pickup location. At 10:18am, I text the Dolly helper to ask him to reach out to me when he arrives at my place; he responds that "they [IKEA] changed their hours they don't open until 11am." I acknowledge this; he says "I'm have to call Dolly bc I can't wait here an hour." I ask him to keep me informed. I hear nothing back. At 11:40, I text to ask for updates from his conversation with Dolly and get a response that the number has been disconnected. I then log in and find that my Dolly has been cancelled. I received no text, no email -- no notice at all of the cancellation. I scrounge around online for a customer service number and finally find one. The agent informs me that I'm being charged a 100% cancellation fee -- $101 on top of the delivery fee they'd already charged. He says that I should have chosen a window that fit entirely within IKEA's hours. Given that IKEA was advertising their services, I reasonably assumed that Dolly wouldn't send someone to the store when they would be unable to pick up an order. No other delivery service I have ever used permits users to schedule impossible delivery times. Therefore, it never entered my mind that 1) the delivery person would show up and be turned away because the store was closed (there would be people working there when the public isn't present!) and that 2) I would get no notice or alternatives -- and that 3) I would only learn this by reaching out to an unlisted number! The agent said he was escalating my complaint and my request for a refund. As it stands, Dolly seems remarkably scammy, and it's deeply disappointing that IKEA advertises Dolly for deliveries. If they follow through and grant my request for a refund or otherwise remediate this poor service, I'll come back here and share an update. EDIT: that didn't take long. I received the below response from Dolly, refusing any refund or remediation. The irony is that, had the helper arrived 10-15 minutes later, IKEA would have opened within the stipulated 30-minute window. I would have been willing to pay him for 10-15 extra minutes. (Note: this is especially rich for a company that, per other reviews, often asks to reschedule at the last minute.) But nope: cancellation without notice, 100% fee, and no delivery. I bought a dresser from IKEA and the delivery was contracted Dolly. I paid for a 2 man team. On the day of delivery, I see one guy struggling to bring this large, white dresser up a flight of stairs to my apartment. I asked what happened to the second guy and he replied he couldn't make it. So of course my dresser got scratched up because because it was to large for one guy to manage. I filed a claim and 3 weeks later, it has yet be resolved. Not recommended. We had 2 guys scheduled in Snoqualmie today and Dolly canceled on us 30 minutes before a big move we had scheduled. It really screwed our time-sensitive plans up. We scheduled this 3-4 weeks in advance! We had to hire someone else that won't be able to get there for another 5-6 hours. That means we won't be getting to our destination that is 4-5 hours away until after midnight. Thanks Snoqualmie guys and unreliable Dolly. Don't ever hire Dolly. Nobody can take any accountability for anything. You can't hold anybody accountable except for on yelp. Complete garbage company. read more

Terrible experience with Dolly ! DO NOT trust them for important moves. I booked Dolly two months in advance (on June 29) for a scheduled move. On the day of the move, they canceled at the very last minute--without notifying me at all. I only found out because one of the movers showed up and told me the job had been canceled. The second mover never arrived, and Dolly didn't even bother to send me a message or call me. I had building move-out and move-in appointments scheduled and couldn't delay. Dolly's failure left me scrambling last minute and forced me to pay the remaining mover in cash--at a much higher rate--to get the job done myself. What should have taken 2 hours turned into a 6-hour disaster. I still haven't received any proper communication or compensation from Dolly. Unreliable, unprofessional, and completely irresponsible. If IKEA can't do a home delivery, they should just say that 'Home Delivery is not available!' rather than scheduling it with 3rd party contractors. IKEA does their home delivery through Dolly. I got a message that my item has been delivered but it was not delivered. There is no way for me to contact the carrier. I had to call customer service and then figured out on my own that they had dropped the package in a house in the next street. I managed to transport the package from there to my house. No help or accountability whatsoever from Dolly. Order help or delivery if you want to go through a lot of headache and can spend hours talking to a Dolly customer service agent! read more

Do not use this company. They are not honest. I submitted a Dolly request and was very specific about the job and that it was gym equipment that needed to be moved and submitted pictures of the gym equipment as well. Dolly assigned a team to complete the job. I talked to the team right when it was assigned to confirm they could do the job and they said no, they can't do gym equipment. I emailed dolly to notify them of the mistake. Then, I see on my bank statement that they charged a cancellation fee. Dolly made the mistake and assigned a job to a moving team that couldn't complete the work, however, they still charged me a cancellation fee. I notified them of this and they regurgitated their cancellation fee and didn't seem to understand that they should refund me because they never assigned the job to a crew that could do the job in the first place. Hired dolly to move some furniture from my condo to my garage as I prepare for renovations. The helper was on time, and they were nice and helpful and got the job done. However First off, the helper didn't bring a dolly. Its even in your name, cmon now. Even though I noted in the request that we would be moving some fairly bulky furniture. It's fortunate I personally had a dolly, or we would not have gotten the job done on time, and not without damage to the furniture. Second off, and this was the big issue for me, was SAFETY. It was a 2 man job and I was also moving the furniture. The other helper shoved the furniture into me either before or faster than I was prepared to move it, this led to me getting a couple small injuries, and on a couple occasions, I was knocked off balance and nearly fell down which could have ended in serious injury if I was weaker or less coordinated. This was all despite me repeatedly telling him to wait for me to move when I was the one having to walk backwards with the furniture. Last off, the helper was rather careless with the furniture and repeatedly knocked it against the door, the floors, and the walls. Overall, I'm glad they at least Got the job done, but I wouldn't hire their services again read more

Read the fine print! We hired hourly movers to move some furniture from our garage back into our house after a remodel. The movers showed up late, got mud and dirt all over our house, and put a big scratch in our new hardwood floor and scraped up our wooden media console. The movers said nothing until we pointed it out. The movers also said Dolly would handle the damage protection but when we contacted them to file a claim it was denied because no damage protection isn't covered for hired labor only. Seemed like a good deal but not now that I'm stuck with paying for repairs to the floor and furniture. read more

If I'd chosen to use Dolly, I would've seen the other reviews and decided against it. Unfortunately, I ordered a couch from a store and they decided to use Dolly as their method of delivery. A few days before, I received a text assigning a helper to my project. I texted the helper and greeted him, only for him to cancel in response. I was then assigned to another helper, who responded to me and was very friendly. HOWEVER, my furniture delivery was set for today and it never showed up. My helper never reached out, I never got any communication from Dolly, nothing. I go to text the helper for an update since it was late, I get an automated text back saying the line has been disconnected. I then call Dolly's customer service in hopes of an explanation and all they tell me is that the delivery was cancelled due to "technical difficulties." I never once received any communication about it and now my furniture is late. I am so unhappy with their service and I wish I was the one who had booked this so I could get my money back. My Sectional couch I purchased was broken literally in half, it was 1500 and called to make a claim, which is 300 max and was told I'd hear back from them. They never called. My bed that was delivered was missing the tracks to keep it together and was left at the store. I texted the driver and he blocked my number immediately after leaving. I highly recommend not using this service. They're legit a nightmare to deal w and I had to hold their hand through everything. two delivery men were supposed to show up through Dolly and deliver a couch today. only one guy showed up and tried to manipulate this very large, heavy couch into my apartment door by himself which clearly was never going to happen. I asked for him to call another helper and told him I had already paid for two workers to deliver the couch. he became agitated and extremely aggressive in a way that frightened me and I put distance between he and I. He kept dragging the couch, trying to get it into the apartment himself which likely damaged the furniture. he started complaining loudly to me about how he's only making so much money for this delivery and they only pay him $40 and on and on, ranting about things that have nothing to do with me while he paced aggressively and scared me so much that I ended up walking out to the parking lot area just so that there would be people nearby in case things really got worse. He ended up storming to his truck and leaving, abandoning the couch and the entire job and leaving the couch in the entryway to my apartment which is now a fire hazard because it's still sitting out there blocking the steps to the entrance read more

The helper left about 5 minutes later and lied to customer support saying we never spoke - he still gets paid per the service agreement. I was directed to the Dolly helper service through IKEA for delivery of my bed frame. This was a HUGE mistake. YSK: I got scheduled directly on the Dolly site for 10am-12pm the next day. I paid in-store for the delivery. The IKEA representative walked me through the process. Then, I get a random text from the "helper" at midnight, saying "via Dolly: I can help you after 4:30." with no other context. Annoying, but fine. Then I get a text at 4:30am from a DIFFERENT dolly number saying I am actually scheduled for 10-10:30. 10:30 comes and goes, with no sign of the helper and no reply from texting back wither number and no other way to contact them. Then 4:30 comes and goes! The helper didn't show up until an hour later. The real kicker: after all this, I get another text from Dolly demanding I pay another $40 for the service, with my only options to be replying "yes" to approve or to call a customer service number.... that gives a land-line busy signal. Terrible service, terrible customer service, and they'll try and gouge you for more money after their terrible service! Tl;dr: Bad service, texting you in the middle of the night, and then demanding extra money from you afterward! Shady, terrible, -5 stars. read more

I scheduled a Dolly delivery from the Container Store. I waited an hour after designated time of pickup and the. I called Dolly. The customer service rep said "we are looking for a delivery person in the backend." And nothing else. There was zero empathy, zero accountability. It's end of day now. The company does not even have the decency to send an email or text apology or update. I am never giving them my business. And I urge others to do the same. If I could give this a zero, I would. 3 days of attempting to get a bed frame picked up from Costco in Lynnwood. All scheduled deliveries were confirmed. The delivery times were changed several times. Then final calls each day saying they couldn't find a "helper". They were not supposed to charge my credit card until they picked up the merchandise. They charged it on my first confirmed time. Their website is odd also. I had to make 3 trips to Costco because they don't hold the merchandise overnight. We had a refrigerator and dryer picked up and delivered by Dolly from Best Buy, up in Lynnwood, WA, and delivered to Mercer Island. Unfortunately, our delivery guy, Eron, was hung up with an earlier delivery job; so he came quite late and working solo; but was very apologetic and helpful. Eron ended up sharing the unloading, loading (old units), and installation work with my son ~ who was thankfully at home! Ultimately, we were really pleased with the service, and availability ~ especially to have the refrigerator delivered on the same day as it was purchased!! I bought a bed from a store which was closing soon and had booked Dolly same day pickup. It was a nightmare dealing with Dolly support staff. Once booked and confirmed a timeslot, I waited but no one came. Only upon me calling, they said they can not make that pickup slot and would like to reschedule. I rescheduled and same thing happened. No one showed up. I called again and they said they will reschedule for another day and they dont know when is that day and it can be a week out even. And the at the end I cancelled my order with Dolly as they didn't had a day to confirm when they will deliver. read more

Move in was ok, but they ended up breaking my $1,100 TV by letting it fall over and then offered me $200 for the damages. Then, in order to refund me they made you use some random app to get your refund that requires a lot of personal information and information just to get the account going despite giving them your Zelle information. Beware - please read I used the moving service Dolly https://dolly.com/ to move a refrigerator I bought from one of our neighbors. Their remit was to pick up the refrigerator, drive it 5 miles down the road and put it in our garage. Instead, the Dolly Helper and his girlfriend decided to 1) lay the refrigerator down sideways on the bed of his truck 2) NOT tie it down 3) use only a single moving blanket As a result, the heavily scratched and damaged refrigerator no longer works. What an expensive mistake this has been. Not only did this cost me the price of the refrigerator ($1k), but the replacement ($3.5k) and the cost of transport ($131). When i filed a complaint, i was told that I was only due $300 plus a refund on the driver. No one took accountability, no one tried to make it right. In fact, they said they would no longer talk to me about the claim. Done is done... I emailed the CEO, and received the same "sorry not sorry" attitude So, BEWARE! I booked a 2-person team through Dolly to pick up some dressers I bought through Facebook Marketplace. One person didn't show up. The other mover was 15 minutes late, with no advance notification he'd be late. We weren't able to complete the move due to the his lateness and a verbal altercation between the mover and a gentleman at the sellers home. I reported the incident and customer service did absolutely nothing to help remedy the situation other than canceling and telling me to go online to rebook. To book another Dolly for later in the day, the prices were higher and Dolly would not honor my original price. I understand that Dolly can't really guarantee the experience as each helper is an independent contractor. HOWEVER, their customer service was appalling. Would not recommend. read more

Absolute disaster. Two guys showed up to move some pretty large and awkward bedroom furniture pieces. They were provided with pictures and dimensions during booking. They will ill equipped with no moving blankets or other equipment that would have made the job much easier. The smaller guy was physically unable to control the largest piece as they navigated down our staircase. He had to drop the item down onto each stair as they stepped. Then they attempted to navigate the landing and proceeded to scratch and dent the walls and railings in the process. Movers were very apologetic and insisted that insurance existed to reimburse all damages. Went to their website and indeed verified that damages to the environment were covered as a part of their commercial coverage and not limited to the $300 coverage for the items being moved. Costs to repair is over $3,000 and after I submitted my claim, the language regarding commercial insurance coverage was suspiciously removed from their website. Claiming that $300 is there limit. Sorry. I am filing a BBB claim and an arbitration case against the firm. Stay away! read more

I originally booked Dolly on February 1st after reading a blog post on Dolly website about an old clawfoot tub being moved, even requiring a 3rd helper (https://dolly.com/blog/move-clawfoot-tub-customer-story/). The app even had an option for clawfoot tub on the pull down menu of things to be moved. I stated in the description that this item weighed more than 300 lbs. On February 6th I was notified that I would need to be relisted. On Feb 10th I reached out myself to confirm that Dolly was still an option and was assured it was. On Feb 15th I was notified by a random stranger that he had been offered $16 to move my tub so I reached out to Dolly myself to clarify, and only then did someone say that moving a clawfoot tub was "beyond what our typical Helpers are able to accomplish." I am now 2 weeks out from the delivery of this tub and will need to look for other options. I had other options on Feb 1st but decided to try Dolly. I do not recommend this company! read more

Good service, easy to get quick turnaround for moving furniture items from point A to point B. I asked for a heavy couch to be moved from my ground floor to my second floor up a very tight stairwell with a sharp corner involved, and the two helpers who came out swiftly handled it. I don't think there was any way for them to avoid this, but they did end up nicking and scratching my walls a bit. They were very apologetic and explained how easy it would be for me to do the touch up. Indeed, I've got the right paint and the spackling compound, but it would be good if Dolly provided its helpers a way to do spackling and cleaning touch ups after providing service. I realize you can't carry every possible color of paint but it would be good for them to address as much of any damage caused as possible. UPDATE: folks from Dolly reached out to offer additional advice on a touch up as well as partial credit as an apology. For all around experience here, happy to fully recommend them to anyone, and I'll use them again as my needs arise. read more

I ordered a pick up with them for $128. Then checked the same delivery on Lugg (which I have used in the past) and exact same service was $87. I called to cancel literally 10 minutes after setting up the delivery and they charged me $25. I argued that it is unfair that you don't match your competitor and charge a substantial amount for cancellation within minutes. The lady on the customer service started literally yelling and refused to give me her name and refused to transfer me to a supervisor. read more

My first time using Dolly. Big plus is that you can easily book on weekends and with short notice. I bought a very heavy bedframe from a consignment shop downtown. The mover they recommended only worked weekday daytime hours which didn't work for me. They were going to charge $160 to move this frame to my home and move my old frame to a friend's garage nearby. Dolly quoted $114 with a Sunday delivery. The driver texted that he was slightly late with the 1-1:30 pm pick up, which was nice to get the update. He and his helper did a fine job moving and disassembling the old frame and taking it out to the truck. The new frame was very heavy and they had trouble getting it upstairs. They scraped my wall a bit. After they finished the second delivery, the driver wanted to charge $40 more for the extra stairs - I booked Dolly noting the stairs. We settled with a $20 upcharge given the wall scrape. I would give Dolly another try maybe given the convenience. However, I didn't appreciate the upcharge experience at the end. I would have probably tipped well anyway knowing how hard it was to move the frame. Hence, 4 stars as price was fair for service. read more

In the dictionary entry for Unreliable, there should be a listing for Dolly. We booked Dolly two weeks before a move. The first one was double-booked and asked us to change the terms so they could cancel without penalty. Then the second and third teams booked cancelled, the last one the day before. As we were doing the move ourselves--Dolly support asked us if we could change the date. Incompetent. We should be compensated for their failure to deliver. read more

I am really disappointed with the lack of communication available regarding the Dolly I had set up last night. When I had checked to see if it would be possible to have my things moved last night it listed today (5/1) as available. I selected a large window of time as to be as flexible as possible (8am -5pm) and received next to no communication as to if The move would be possible or not. I tried calling multiple times, leaving a message, contacting support via SMS and through email. The only response I got through text didn't make much sense as it didn't seem the person on the other end understood English very well. Your website says you offer customer support 7 days a week, though that is clearly not true. I was really relying on this working out today and it has put me in a rough spot. read more

I wanted same day delivery as it was advertised in their website, but when I was try to place the order it would tell me that the store (Costco) is closed at that time that I selected which is not true. So by that logic I couldn't order any pickup from Costco for the same day delivery. I tried to contact customer service but there were no phone number or online chat, only option was sending message which was get answered 3 days later. I booked a driver and a helper to pick up a purchase from Tukwila, WA and have it delivered to my home in Lacey, WA on 9/21 for delivery today, 10/15. The timing was critical because I had installers coming the morning of the 16th. At approximately 12:05 am on the 15th I was notified who the driver and helper would be and the estimated 30 minute delivery window. Approximately 2 hours before they were supposed to deliver the shipment I received a text stating that my Dolly Helper notified them he was unable to do my Dolly. The text went on saying they were looking for another helper. A couple of hours went by and I had not heard anything from Dolly I texted them. 30 minutes or so went by and no response so I called them. At this point it was way past the delivery window. They wanted me reschedule for another day. This was totally unacceptable due to other commitments. I told them to cancel which they did respond via text that they did. I would not recommend this company nor will I give them another try in the future. read more
