I found Junk On Junk Off in a google search this week. I booked them to come help me move out of a storage unit that I had been paying for, but had not even walked in to in 4 years! I made the appointment online, in the evening. The next day I received a call confirming my appointment. All was great. The next day I received another call because of an error I made when I requested the appointment. I typed in Thursday the 28th of February, and I meant Friday. Good catch! I went to my storage unit today. I got there a little bit early, and so did Junk On Junk Off! They were there about 15 minutes early, they took a look at the amount of stuff I needed to haul and gave me a price, which was actually less than I thought it might be, because I was not sure how much space my stuff would take in a truck. They know their business, they were dead on, once they got it loaded. It only took them 30 minutes. I paid, and we were all on our way. I want to note that the 30 minutes was for half a truck. So they don't mess around. I see another reviewer commented that Steve and his guys are friendly, and they couldn't be more right! Steve is very personable. We've got a storage closet at work that, over nine years, accumulated stupid big things, like half a conference table, or seven octogon-shaped legs with hinges (?), leftover grass skirts from the Hawaiian-themed party, cubicle bits and bobs and, oh, yes, the important things shoved in the back, like emergency food and power supplies. I started by calling nonprofits, and got rid of a few smaller filing cabinets. Emailed two decent 4-stars-on-yelp junk removal companies who wanted well over $300 just to arrive and then another $300 - $600 to haul away. I had a couch that I wanted to get rid of it was still in very good shape. I put it on Craiglist and it was on for three or four days and I got about three responses. After playing email tag and people not showing up when the said they would show up I thought there has got to be a better way of getting rid of a couch. I called a number of places and they wanted a lot of money to haul away a couch and many of them told me I couldn't have my couched hauled away till next week. I called JunkOnJunkOff and this was on a Saturday they were there within a hour. They were prompt, friendly and were careful in getting rid of my couch as I had just painted my living room as I was selling my house. They took care of it in a few minutes and gave me a great price the lowest I had found after calling three other companies. Forget Craigslist and all the nonsense of waiitng for others to show up. Bottom line they were quick to respond and when I called they were friendly and nothing was damaged and I got a great price, the price was so good I decided to tip them. As a longtime resident of the U District, I had often walked by the "Junk On Junk Off" sign, so, figuring that they had been in the neighborhood at least as long as I had, calling their number was a natural response when I needed help preparing to move out of state. The logistics were tricky. Steven's colleague estimated that our junk would take half a truck (it seemed like a lot more to me), and they had to do the job only after we had left for the airport. According to our landlord and apartment neighbor, they did a perfect job, leaving the apartment empty and spotless, with the spare bulbs I had left on the sideboard neatly placed in drawers for the next tenant. My neighbor also reported that the place "smelled sweet." I left a check on the refrigerator with a magnet, but in my haste to catch an early morning flight, also left my jewelry box with my wedding ring, which Steven mailed back to me. He is reliable. I started by collecting quotes from the top rated businesses that I got through yelp and other sources. Frankly, the amount of junk I had, I was estimating 100-150 dollars for hauling as it wasn't too much but I was astonished to see that the minimum I got was 2.5 times of my expectation. Steven from JunkOnJunkOff came in the morning to look at the junk and gave me the quote that came out to be around 30% lesser than the minimum quote I had from 4 other businesses. I went ahead with him for hauling the stuff and in the next 1 hour, my yard was clean again. Steven also reduced the price once all the stuff was in the truck saying that he earlier over-estimated a bit. It was pleasant experience doing business with them. After giving away what we could to friends and local charities, we were still left with several bulky items, including a full-size bed, a table and four chairs, and a broken microwave oven. We had a giant old rolltop desk that needed to go away, due to purchase of a new desk and the fact that our home is very small. We asked around but nobody wanted it, so we called Steven with hopes of getting it hauled away. He answered right away and was able to come by the same day, within just a few hours. He and a helper came over on time, navigated our rather tricky site, and boom, off went the desk. We had the desk taken apart already, but it tuned out there was a little more to do, and it was done with no issues. Despite the close quarters of our home and the long trip to his truck, he cut his quoted price for us, which made his service all the more valuable. Call him! Spoke with Jimmy on the phone, explained we had a hide a bed, love seat, chair, ottoman, recliner, 6-8 bags of stuff, three boxes of books and a few other miscellaneous items. He said it was " a minimum of 100 dollars and we will try our best to keep it close to that." They showed up on time, were very pleasant BUT after everything was removed from the condo, Steven-the owner showed up and hit us with a 545 dollar bill! It was just wrong! He screwed an elderly, disabled woman who had recently lost her significant other and is now in foreclosure of her home. Real nice guy! He insisted we spoke with him on the phone, but I know it was Jimmy I spoke to and they should have honored their quote, or told us up front that the would be such a huge price discrepency. It is an absolute pain to hire any contractor! I'm remodeling two homes in one year and finding anyone good who does what they say they will for the price and the time line they commit to is near impossible to find. Steve and his crew helped me when I was in a bind. On Sunday evening, I realized that I needed to have some furniture hauled away by Monday morning. Steve was very responsive to my email inquiry and follow-up questions. He and his crew arrived on time, in uniforms (well, matching sweatshirts), and they wore masks. I really appreciated them wearing masks, as we are still in the middle of a pandemic. The crew was friendly, courteous, professional, quick, and helpful. They were able to show up same day to remove a huge sleeper sofa couch off the second level of our townhouse. They were also willing to take an overstuffed chair I didn't tell them about when I originally called. They showed up right at their scheduled time (even a few minutes early, but they called to check to see if that would be ok) which was two hours after I made the appointment. Very friendly and helpful, their price was the same as the companies that wouldn't be able to fit me in for a week and lower than the one's that could fit me in in 3 days. I used this service when I needed to get rid of some large items, such as a few old TVs, and general junk that collects over time. Most of what needed to be hauled away included smaller items though, since we were going through my dad's home as he's preparing to downsize. I have used Junk On Junk Off several time over the last year while cleaning out my elders uncles home after he was no longer able to live on his own. Just had this company come and clear out my garage of all the garbage and junk that had accumulated. I had signed up online for a quote and service and they called me within 10 minutes to set up everything. They did all the work so I didn't have to delve into the icky old garage. They all were extremely friendly and professional. The only thing I would "complain" about is that they are so quick that I missed a couple of items that I wanted gone, but that was really on me!
