I shop at this Dollar Tree frequently because I work nearby, and until today I've always had a positive experience. During this visit, however, I felt extremely uncomfortable because one of the employees appeared to be following me throughout the store. Every aisle I entered, he would come into the same aisle and continue watching me. After noticing this happen repeatedly, I even approached him and said, "I feel like you're watching me and following me into every aisle, and I don't understand why." Unfortunately, his behavior continued. As a regular customer who pays for my purchases every time, I found this treatment embarrassing and upsetting. It made me feel as though I was being suspected of stealing or doing something wrong without any reason. I've never experienced this kind of treatment at this location before, and it left me feeling harassed rather than welcomed as a customer. Honestly, instead of making loyal customers feel like they're under suspicion, employees should focus on providing respectful customer service. Everything is $1.25 and it was well stocked. Same general rules apply: things that are priced $1.25 are usually a good deal (first time I found RC cola 2 liter bottles in SoCal...name brand like Coke is $1.75). Food that are priced higher, are not good deals. But for things like office supplies (envelopes) and party baloons, one can't beat the dollar stores. read more

Great pricing! I came here to look for some decorations for our holiday party and the theme was Wicked -- so I was happy to get pink and green plates & utensils. The utensils were probably not the best for eating cause they broke easily. You might want to buy extra utensils for extra. The cashier was super nice and helpful. read more

My husband and I popped in to look around since we were next door shopping at Aldi. We normally frequent the DT location in Aliso Viejo. This one seems a bit tired. The shelves were a bit messy. They did have a nice selection of wrapping paper and gift bags. The food they sell is all processed so we have been staying away from that. If that's your jam, more power to you. Had a very negative experience with an employee named "Angel." How ironic. I saw her screaming at and arguing with customers. Multiple customers complained. She would just make sarcastic comments. One customer actually refused to go to her register because she didn't want to deal with her. She's lazy and immature. Reflects poorly on management if this is the kind of slop they're hiring to interact with customers. Filed formal complaint online and on BBB, although Dollar Tree apparently has BBB rating of F for failing to respond to customer complaints and for having high levels of lead in children's toys. I think this is the first one star review I have given. Though low review is not based on the products, but mainly on the employee working the register. I made a purchase for something and she charged me for a bag which I did not get or ask for. I went back to her and told her that she charged me for a bag, she smiled and insisted that I was wrong, I put the receipt on the counter to show her and she smiled again and insisted I was wrong and that the fee is zero. I grabbed the receipt and I pointed at the charge and showed her that she charged me and I explained to her that I don't want any money back or anything, I just wanted her to see that she charged me. I don't mind if somebody makes a mistake but it's awkward when somebody insists that they didn't, Even though you are presenting evidence for them. I'm not sure what the training process is for the employees but I think somebody should retrain and explain to these employees how customer service works. read more

I've seen this location every time I have breakfast at Laguna Cafe and finally checked it out the other day. It looks big from the outside, and it is a decent size. It's organized pretty well but I didn't really find anything I wanted. They didn't have many Halloween items, but had a lot of Christmas out. Totally bummed. Pros: -It's super quiet, clean, and has a good amount of inventory, especially seasonal (Valentine's Day/any holiday stuff) -great greeting card selection! -Cashier is on it! This dollar tree offers more items than the one on Alicia park way and it is somewhat more lively if that makes sense. The other location is closer to me but it's always kind of pessimistic vibes over there. Anywho the store is as clean as it's going to get with a dollar tree but if you get there early and avoid the clutter and rummaged items already it's your best choice. I love finding the most random cute practical things however I will say I purchased a car charger and it didn't work but I kind of expected it (still I want my dollar back lol) Also be prepared to wait in line- the store is always busy and there's literally one cashier open at a time each time I've stopped by - I've seen hiring signs for a while now. read more

Going to be a Karen here but seriously ...? Their carts lock up at the door so you cannot bring them to your car. I had my toddler with me riding in the seat and had to carry him and an entire cart's worth of stuff to the car. I can't leave him anywhere to take two trips either. While I prefer the 99 cents store chain over the Dollar Tree, this is one of the nicest locations I have been to. They don't carry as many name brand items as the 99 cent store and the selection is usually the same items they carry year round, not too much new stuff to be found. I come here when going to Aldi next door, for the party decor or cheap stuff for the kitchen and home. Service is friendly, they are pretty understaffed and always just have one register open, so I suggest coming early morning to avoid a long wait at check out. I was there like 2 weeks ago. It was a big line and only 1 cashier, she ask for help and the other employee refuse to help until the other girl asked again for help. She got pretty upset and started arguing with the other employee. At the end she open second register but she was very rude to costumers. I shop there all the time is my favorite dollar tree. I haven't been in to one of these in years but I thought I'd sniff this one since it was newer. There isn't a lot for me here since I'm not shopping for candy, cleaning supplies etc. Their HEALTH and BEAUTY section was weak with very little hair products. A lot of the baskets and organizers were too cheaply made to buy. The OFFICE SUPPLIES/STATIONERY area was more of a highlight. This is a new store. The shopping center it is in is currently going under a needed renovation. This store is great, everything is a dollar. From party supplies, wrapping supplies, seasonal items, great card selection, storage, cleaning, food storage. Great store to gather needed camping items, party decorations and stock up on cards. I purchased frames and a few miscellaneous at another location but noticed all the frames had severe damage. I went to this location to return (not knowing they only accept exchanges). I was told rudely that they do not accept returns. I said but I have my receipt? And was told they only accept exchanges. I was not told this when I purchased the items and for stores to have a strict policy like this should disclose this information to customers (I.e. Forever 21 always asks if you are aware of the return policy). I did not want to shop to find some more low quality damaged items so asked if there was any way I could get store credit and was told no I could keep the items for an exchange. Again, not wanting to waste my time and money on low quality times I just left my previously purchased items at the store. I NEVER shop here and I probably never will again knowing the policy now. I was in this store today with my 91 year old grandmother. We stopped in after grocery shopping next store at Aldi. We were immediately greeted upon walking in by the woman at the register. My grandma is on a walker and is always glad to get out and walk around any store and browse. We went in this store and it was clean and organized, but the icing on the cake was that woman who greeted us. She came around and asked if we needed help finding something which we did. My grandma was looking for soda so we asked and this sweet member of staff pointed us in the right direction and was super sweet to my grandma. We made our way over to the soda section and we didn't see the Diet Coke that she wanted. The same staff member came over to us and made sure we had found what we were looking for. We asked about the Diet Coke and she went out of her way to check the back, the other aisles and built ins, and even asked other employees while we were shopping around. When we went to check out we had the same experience with this staff member. Overall a GREAT experience and a great, clean store. I wish I remembered her name. She was AMAZING! read more

I prefer the 99 Cent Store over the Dollar Tree and similar discount stores, primarily because my experience is that they have a better selection of products. The 99 Cent Stores located anywhere near me are both in the city of Lake Forest. Except for Harbor Freight near the El Toro 99 Cent Store (not as good as the 99 Cent Store on Lake Forest) there are no other businesses nearby that I frequent. I shop at this Dollar Tree strictly as a matter of convenience. In my case, the Dollar Tree benefits from having Aldi's, where I do the majority of my grocery shopping, next door. I have not shopped at any other Dollar Tree, but this store is less than impressive. Complaints about being poorly managed and understaffed are accurate. Lines are almost always long, and even on the rare occasion where the checker might offer to bag items I am purchasing, as a customer, I feel I need to bag my own purchases so others in line don't have to wait quite so long. Get used to saying "Excuse Me." The store's aisles are fairly narrow and are frequently cluttered with half-stocked merchandise. If you want to purchase their products in any quantity (or to buy anything fairly heavy)... good luck. They only have a few carts, so you'll either have to find one of these precious gems in the parking lot or wait for one to become available. If you walk in the store, the odds of finding a cart immediately available are less than 5%. If you're going to do much shopping there, you might want to sign up at the gym opening soon next door. You'll need to build up your muscles to carry your purchases around the store and to your car. read more

Love dollar tree, can never leave without spending $20. I usually shop at the one on 17th street in Tustin and love the employee's there. Stopped at this new one off of el Toro twice in the last month and both times the employee's have never greeted or talked to you when checking out. The one that worked tonight as cashier didn't even put my items back in my reusable bag, I had to do it myself. This is my first bad review on Yelp but, they seriously need new management.
