The El Toro location is always clean, bright and well stocked. I like coming to this Daiso because parking is easy and the store is really big and the staff is always friendly and helpful. For me, Daiso is like my Target where I'll always walk out with more than I intended to purchase. Most items are priced at $1.75. Some items are priced higher depending on quality or function, but they have price sheets next to those items to indicate that it could cost more. For this visit, I did have a list of items I was interested in and was able to find such as, squeeze bottle for condiments, small mesh strainer, tempura paper liner and tongs. What I bought on impulse was the robe indoor house slippers, bear squeaky dog toy, card holder and a koi fish reusable bag. Their dog toys are perfect for my Pancake. She's obsessed with the bear since it squeaks and has soft limbs for her to chew on. They surprisingly hold up well with light play/chew, but most of the dog toys in our home are from Daiso. The only thing I couldn't find was the oil absorbing pads for used cooking oils. After frying, I used to throw a couple of those pads into a pan and it would soak up any remaining oil to toss in the trash. Was really useful to keep on hand, but I haven't found it in awhile. Besides that, I'm always happy to visit a Daiso and will be back soon. read more

Smaller than other Daiso stores I've been to. It was pretty busy with only two cashiers & a line. I'd probably skip this location next time.

I get bad vibes every time I come here. First off, the lady in the morning working the registers is always so nosy. She pretends to say hi and watches your every move inside the store. And when you leave, she doesn't say bye and acts like she's still watching you to catch you steal. I avoided the mornings for this reason. In the evenings, the younger employees gossip about customers- little petty things such as: "I offered her a basket, yet, she DECLINED." Big deal. What if what I don't WANT a basket? Is that okay? Do they not have other better things to do ?? There is one younger (Amerasian) worker there who looks half Japanese Caucasian- she's really sweet and always friendly. She consistently works hard and minds her own business. And I notice the other workers gossiping about her too. It looked like she was being bullied and picked on. Poor girl. It's such a toxic culture here. I'm not sure about the current manager (I assume, they are different), -and so the store's environment has changed. The lady working in the morning at the cash registers pretending to sweep as she watches you like a hawk has been there for years. She seems kind of racist. The previous manager who was middle eastern was also super sweet. I don't know what it is, but I feel super uncomfortable shopping here and avoid this location based upon the whole hostile nature.. Super unfriendly. Some of the other young kids are okay (mid shift). They're nice. But for the most part, the people here are MEAN. They'll say hi, smile to your face, and then gossip about you.. People always remember how you make them feel. And I feel like crap most times when I shop here, and especially after I pay: "was it worth shopping here when I could have gone somewhere else?" I hate feeling regret after spending money at a place where I expect a bit of professionalism. Idk what it is but the tension is repeatedly felt here. read more

KRYSTAL!!! KRYSTAL!!!! Is the most awesome Daiso worker ever I came in with 5% battery hoping to purchase an iPhone 13 charger cable but they unfortunately didn't have any. I called her over to ask if any in stock bc at first I didn't see them (she was walking by) and she told me they didn't have any. I thanked her and was walking off but she said "hey I have an extra in my locker you can have it"I didn't expect that! She came back with it and gave it to me!!! I just love this store. It's located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The store is very clean and organized. The pricing is a little confusing. If it's not marked in yens then it cost $1.50 USD. If it's priced in yens there's a conversion chart listed above the shelves. I love going down each aisle and looking at everything on the shelf. I found some unusual and unique items. This time around I purchased a pair of driving gloves, dinosaur candies, sink drainer, note holder, grippy socks, herb grater and rice scooper all for $11. Attention last minute Xmas shoppers! Stop what you are doing and come here. Are you looking for a gift for the person who has everything? I bet they don't have a kitty face waffle iron or a green ceramic eyelash holder. Or maybe they do? From what I can gather this place is made up of 90% specialty Japanese import items with a few Spencer gifts type items sprinkled in. I came in to kill some time and found some pretty awesome Sake sets and knife kits along the way. I love to cook and the kitchen stuff is great and very eclectic. Like an animal themed rice ball makers and a gyoza press. Their Japanese candy section is solid too. I walked out with some Hello Panda chocolate cookies and something called a chocolate bun. I stopped here after I had already visited another Daiso down in Kearny Mesa. At that other one I'd bought a variety of snacks and one of them was so good I said to myself, "I have to find another Daiso on my way home and buy more of this!" So I did and did!! It was a limited edition flavor of a caramel corn snack I was already familiar with (the one with the red package that looks a little like an owl face). Anyway, this store had what I wanted and was easy to get to from the freeway. It was clean, the staff was very polite and professional and parking was easy. It was amazing so many things that were so cheap I got my 9year old stickers and she was so happy

The first things I noticed when walking into this Daiso were that the aisles seemed wider than other locations and that the inventory was sparse. Maybe I just came on the wrong day but there were a lot of empty shelves. Aside from the wide aisles that made this busy store easy to maneuver through, the aisles are also very well labeled and the store is kept extremely tidy. This location, like all Daiso stores, price most items at $1.50 unless otherwise marked and there is no shortage of cutesy stuff. I found slippers, a bear-shaped cutting board and Pocky but other items I was after that I routinely purchase at Daiso stores were not to be found. I love Daiso but of all the locations I've been to this is the only one where I thought the selection was rather sparse. NOTE: On return visits in 2018 I found the shelves and inventory to be stocked much better. read more

bummer they also downsized on the large folders they used to have. I am an art teacher and that was the only size that works for my belongings. Because the large sized paper is what we use in class 9 x 12" that's a standard sketch paper pad. The new smaller version is also supposed to fit a 9 x 12" sized paper but it's slightly smaller so I noticed when I put my papers in the pouch it's so tight that a lot of times when I get home the corners are slightly bent. I can see how this helps them save money but in the long run it really sucks I won't be going here for this product and that was the main product I would get here besides containera. They're plastic containers were so good it was almost like that container store but no more I am just so bummed that they only have tiny ones now I think it's because they're downsizing a lot of things because I noticed that their plastic containers kind of got lower quality and it's more like dollar store plastic containers now. So I think they're also saving by shaving off the inches from their binders as well they just have small zipped pouches. I get it we all have to survive in this world we live in but it just sucks cause that was really the two main reasons I went to the store. read more

I love coming to Daiso! There are all these cute little things you can get from there. Although its like an 1$ store but its better quality than the average 1$ store I've seen. Their stuff is always so cute and I grab a bunch of stuff everytime I come. I'm happy that they finally opened a Daiso closer to my home, which ends up being a shorter drive than going to the crazy busy branch in Irvine. This is a large, well-organized store with many aisles immaculately packed with lots of colorful Japanese goodies all for only a $1.50, unless otherwise marked. Scarves and mittens, plastic and ceramic kitchenware, wallets and luggage tags, scissors and notepads, snacks, you name it. Just a little bit of anything and everything. Things you know what to do with and many things you don't know what to do with, unless you can read Japanese! I chuckle trying to study the diagrams on some of the packaging, and yet still can't figure a lot of it out. It's still a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out at least once! I feel like it's a stepped up version of a Japanese target - you come in, and could walk away with a whole cart full of... stuff. Not stuff you need, but stuff. I like Daiso in general but this one location is getting docked because there's an employee here who seriously lacks common sense or customer service skills. Once, she tried to pack items into a box I was buying and broke the clasp off of the box and bent the plastic. Another time, she couldn't find a barcode and told me to grab another identical item with a barcode and held up the line. There were 3 people behind me. Generally, she seems thoughtless and not malicious so I can't really fault her personally. I do however fault the store management. Buyer beware: a lot of the items here are complete garbage even for $1.50. I was nosy about the headphones and lo and behold, unusable. I bought a cute cat car sunshade here and found out it was basically made of paper. It ripped in one use. Beware of the food items in general. They're selling bowl noodle here for $1 more than other places. I'm sure those extreme markups to $1.50 exist in other categories. read more

Everything is $1.50 (not a dollar) but that extra .50 is worth paying because the items here are easily a notch above the .99 cent store. Great gift items like stickers, pens, figurines and really handy items like colanders with their own water-catch bowl underneath. Great place to pick up body scrub brushes and hand mits (the kind that sell for much more at beauty shops). Don't expect to be in and out of this place quickly. Can I just throw it out there that it hurts my soul to have to give a Daiso less than four stars seeing that everyone knows how much I love this store. This particular Daiso is one of the bigger locations I've been to in SoCal and I was kinda sad that they barely had anything in the store. They looked like they were in the process of restocking things but there were so many empty shelves. If they compressed everything, half their store would be empty. Daiso is filled with Japanese made trinkets and is the perfect place to shop for inexpensive things. Desk organizers, Pens/Pencils, Erasers, Markers, stationary, etc, Kitchen plates, utensils, cooking gadgets, pans, racks, Bathroom cleaning tools, drain plugs, Closet organizers, Hangers. They even have gardening and automotive stuff ..... And soon much more! I could easily spend $50+ in this store. I did find something new to splurge buy! They have these cotton pads that you can use to wipe makeup off that are amazing. Must buy for those who use them on the daily like I do. Cheaper than Walmart and it works just the same! I love this daiso location so much!! I've always been greeted with a smile and always find the cutest items. It's a clean store and the employees are very knowledgeable about their items and are so friendly. It makes my day better when I come to shop here!!! I once wanted to know if they'd get a beauty item back in stock and manager Michel was so sweet and helpful with figuring out if the warehouse had them available. He even took my name and number to call me when they were in stock and a few weeks later they called me!! They went the extra mile to help me and it really means a lot. With management like that, it's not a surprise the staff is as friendly and helpful as they are. A random not but I've noticed at other Daiso's they play English music which is sad! I grew up in Japan and this brings back nostalgia spending all my allowance at the ¥100 yen store. I'm adulting and now I come here for all my essentials lol Few staple things I always pick up here: rough body wash rags, make up Cotton pads in the double box, vegetable pickling powder, thick shower caps, dehumidifier for closets, and gift wrapping/baggies. This is random but I recommend checking out the socks and kitchen utensils. You'll be surprised by what you find and things you'll find needing. You won't be disappointed. I think the best kept secret item that they sell is an EGG TIMER for boiling eggs. It gives you a piece of mind how well done it's been cooked. It allows you to monitor while the water boils by a color changing picture. Get yourself one and another for a friend! Quick notes: friendly staff. Always seems to be well stocked. I've shopped here many times before with no issues. So I was surprised when a cashier today argued with me about a price and insisted that I was wrong. I showed her the sign that indicated a sale price and she said it was for a different product, though the exact product name and product number was on their sign. When I told her I no longer wanted the product she said too late final sale. I had to ask for a manager who apologized for the error and gave me the price difference back. This cashier even had the gall to challenge the manager about the price. Unbelievable! read more
