Mercy is continuously improving its donation center. They have great hours, very convenient for drop off. They've also made the donation cars all come in from the back now, with a parking guide telling everyone where to go for maximum efficiency. It's so smooth now. Once you park, helpful young people start helping you unload your car. Most everything falls under General - household goods, dishes, pots and pans. There's also bins for clothing, books, electronics, and a separate furniture area. The whole operation is very professional and impressive. It's always an interesting experience here. They re- organized the place really nicely. It's now open and less cluttered. There are people giving donations from rented moving vans. I really need to clean out my storage, and give donations here as well . I would say about 20% of the stuff I have in my storage, probably came from Mercy warehouse! The prices are reasonable, and they will work with you, if need be. The only reason this place doesn't get a five star ... it's because sometimes, they (some employees) look at me as if I'm not going to pay for something that I have in my hand before I go to the register. If you like thrifting (I've only been here for clothes) and you have an afternoon to kill this is a great place to go! Sometimes it's organized, sometimes it's not- I think it depends on what time of day you go and how "picked thru" everything is. PRO TIP::: There are NO DRESSING ROOMS- so make sure you wear super tight leggings or shorty shorts and a tank that you can try things on over if you want to try something on. Also- the lighting is horrific, but youre in a big warehouse so that's to be expected. I've found some great gems here. read more

One person's trash is another person's treasure. My husband and I were donating a bunch of clothes at Mercy Warehouse recently, so we decided to check out the retail thrift store. While it's a dimly lit warehouse, it is fairly large with clothing and shoes on one side and household goods on the other. They also have a large selection of bikes and some golf clubs for sale. I wandered into the home goods section to see if there was anything worthwhile. They had their Christmas stuff out in the middle near the registers. I did find nice Long Da bone china set of 4-bowls, 4-plates, and 4-spoons with red double happiness symbols and golden dragons. I was really excited because the pieces were intact and not chipped. For the set, I paid $20 plus tax. I went to purchase at the register and the person helping me asked if I needed a bag. I said no but I did ask for her to wrap up the pieces. She haphazardly wrapped the pieces together (bowls wrapped as a stack, plates wrapped as a stack, and spoons wrapped as a stack) when she should have wrapped them each individually to ensure they would not break. Luckily, we weren't going far and I got my pieces home without much issue. But even I know other places will wrap individually to avoid breakage. read more

This is one of my favorite places to thrift - I almost didn't want to write a review but it's always crowded anyway :) plus it's a great cause that deserves all the love. They help feed the homeless and do outreach. If you're really into thrifting like I am then you're going to spend at least an hour or two here just sifting through everything. They have a " designer" section which has a mix of mid level brands, high end and new clothes. If you like something, pick it up and carry it or else it will be gone. They are constantly putting new items out every hour. A lot of the clothes are from popular brands. I've found Vince, Kate spade, Tory Burch, Beis, Bonobos, Aritzia, UGGs, Lululemon, Alo, Athleta, Tiffany & Co, etc all in great condition. They also have a lot of furniture, electronics, etc that is constantly getting restock too! They also have a great selection of books too. All the employees (or volunteers? Not sure) have been nice to me! Some are more on the religious / preachy but it's expected since it's associated with the church next door. Donating items is a breeze but can get congested since it seems like everyone is donating here. They have a whole process so I've never had to wait long to get things donated. read more

They have a big selection for women's clothes, and it seems vaguely organized by type of clothing but not by size for some of the clothes, which makes it more difficult/less efficient to shop. For someone who is used to Goodwill prices, some of the items such as the leather jacket seemed more steep. They also had an extensive selection for homegoods. Left without buying anything. I have loved going to Mercy Warehouse but I am getting so tired of thrift stores marking their prices up so high. I've seen some comments that say their prices are fair but I don't agree at all anymore!!! They get all their inventory for FREE from donations and let's not forget it's all heavily used for the most part. Not to mention, they have so much inventory in their warehouse and they could move it faster if they kept their prices lower. When I see costume jewelry that cost more than you can get at stores or art for $80, $125, $250?? That's not even original either. The furniture and even a bunch of the decor is all so expensive too. Be prepared to spend time and dig. Check everything for stains. I found many almost great pieces. Pros: - huge inventory and decent prices for normal things (eg. I got a train track set for $5) - things are hung up and pretty neat and organized - some nicer things, maybe because it's been there for a while, are normal prices. I got a great free people denim jacket and newer season athleta shirts for $10 each. - there's bathrooms! Cons: - many nicer or not even that nice things are marked "boutique" and priced $10-25. I got a Lululemon run swiftly shirt for $10 and a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag for $25. Mercy Warehouse is our go-to place to drop off donations. Anyone who has kids know that they grow quickly and constantly need new things and outgrow old things. We also are always trying to trim down the toys around the house and get the toys that are loud out to someone who might appreciate them more. My MIL always manages to bring the loudest, plastic toys for the kids and after they play with them a few times they thankfully lose interest. It's an absolutely disgusting business that they allow their employees to go to work sick and put customers at Risk. I've tried donating here three different times over the past few months, and unfortunately, it's been the same experience each time. I pull up with a car full of donations, and there are several workers around, but no one acknowledges me, offers to help, or even says a word. Today was no different -- I waited, but nobody came over, so I ended up driving away with bags of clothes and dropping them off at the Goodwill truck down the street instead. They are super helpful there. This isn't just a one-time issue; it's happened repeatedly. I really do want to support local organizations, but if donors are ignored and left standing there with no assistance, it's hard to feel like our contributions are valued. Sorry, but I'll be taking my donations elsewhere where they're more appreciated. read more

Mercy is great if you're a first time thrifter just wanting to see what thrift stores are all about. They have a large selection of things because it's a large warehouse and they take anything for donations. Unfortunately I've had pretty bad experiences in the last times I've gone and won't return to donate or shop there. First of all, donation is super easy, you just park and they help take everything out of your car or you put the items in bins yourself for them. After donations, I usually go directly into the store to browse. The kids toys are probably the most worthwhile and any miscellaneous you value in the store. The clothes section is not worth it at all. At the prices they're asking, for example women's sweater and kids puffy jackets for $10, I can get that at Costco brand new. What bothers me the most is that even though the sign for kids jacket is $5, the person that rang me up basically said oh the prices recently changed to 7 and when I questioned it more and the head cashier was called, she then said no winter jackets are $10. So why does the sign say "all kids jackets are $5" then? And why did the price just inflate again? I have no idea. I just know that this wasn't the first time I've tried to buy some clothing item or a bike that was "mislabeled" and they've come back with "oh the prices have changed" and whenever the head cashier comes, her response has always been more expensive. I don't bother buying anything she upsells. All I know is that I have been leaving feeling like they are money hungry. Also, their inflated clothing pricing structure really does need a change because there's just no way I would overpay for an item that was donated and in used condition, the clothes section really needs to be reconsidered. They've split up their "designer" brands with no name brands and charge for example $20 for a Columbia sweater with a hole on the side. A tip for those looking at clothes, try it on. I know it sounds weird but the two women's sweaters I thought were cute ended up having holes in the sleeves and a missing button. I wasn't expecting something perfect or brand new but if you're going to pay money, you would hope it's something in reusable condition unless you plan to cut it up and make a new outfit out of it. Nice selection of items, some were in need of minor repairs. Items are organized pretty well so that you can skip around according to what you're looking for. The cashiers are friendly and the que for the line moved quickly. The only tricky thing is parking! The parking lot quickly fills up and a lot of the street parking says 'no parking' but not that the federal building is vacant, it appears that those signs may need to be updated. Prices are ok. Items are not crammed in so much that's hard to look through but bountiful enough that there racks are well-stocked. There doesn't appear to be any sales or discounts like some thrift stores offer on older items. read more

Sure it smells weird and you never know what you're gonna get, but that is literally what we thrift for right? The racks are really well organized and taken care of -- especially the pants and jeans, which are hung diagonally by the side so you can see size and brand easily. I appreciate their "designer" rack too, although I would hardly put a North Face vest or Disneyland tshirt on it. On my last visit, I scored a sweet trippy mushroom hoodie that felt brand new for $7, as well as a $1 Hello Kitty water bottle. I was very tempted by a Rosie ODonnell Barbie from the 90s ($3) but couldn't justify explaining the purchase. Long story short, this place is huge and super fun to treasure hunt in. NO MERCY FOR MERCY I've been going here for years and the experience has not changed. part of the appeal is that they have such a wide variety but that aspect makes quality control nonexistent. the items are frequently disgusting and should not be sold. I've seen jeans covered in blood stains at the crotch and other clothing and items so broken they're not worth selling. The industrial fans beating down on you constantly and incessantly flickering lights literally suck the life out of you. I feel like I take a few years off my life every time I walk out of this place. I found items that have three dollar stickers from target on them but over them are five dollar stickers from Mercy warehouse. The employees pricing is wildly inconsistent "ah this jacket has a zipper, therefore it must be a luxury item worth $20" (never mind the gaping holes across the front and irremovable oil stains). DO NOT TRY TO GRAB THINGS ON THE RACKS EMPLOYEES ARE UNLOADING they will snatch it out of your hands and proceeded to scold you for your incompetence(this happened to my sister) The eighth deadly sin at the establishment is lounging or sorting in the furniture area. if you do so a crotchety old man will come yell in your face. I'm still deeply troubled by this and didn't know how this happened but one time as I was shopping I came across a literal BOWL OF CEREAL MILK AND EVERYTHING on a shelf. I have no words. Today I also saw a tin with candy inside. This cannot be sanitary. They also have a large case of what they called luxury jewelry which is all "appraised" by one woman with absolutely no equipment except for a magnifying glass but yet they think that they're justified to price jewelry in the hundreds and even thousands. Most of the checkers seem like they hate their lives and act inconvenienced every time you literally just wanna buy something which is what they volunteered to do. So I have been shopping here as long as they have been open, which is probably about 20 years or so. I have donated thousands of dollars worth of furniture and clothing and you name it. I have also purchased thousands of dollars of merchandise. I pretty much know all the people that work there by name and whenever I come in, we always hug each other and ask how each other is doing. Recently, one of the managers has been brought up to the front at the cashier's desk to work there. Her name is Jan.. Today I had a confrontation with her and I have never ever had a confrontation with anyone that ever works there or who is a manager. Quite the opposite. I was at one of the checkout counters deciding if I wanted a particular item or not when she called up the cashier and told her to go to the next customer waiting in line. I didn't know why, but I thought OK that's fine. I will wait and you go ahead and take that next Customer. as I was standing there alongside the other customer she came up and said you need to move on now that you are finished. I said I was in the middle of doing my transactions and you stopped the cashier that was helping me so I graciously waited until she was done with that person and now it is my turn. She told me to step out and come over to another register so she could talk to me Then she said you are taking too long to make a decision and I said people do make decisions when they come up to the cashier to make sure they want something to pay for it or not. She said well our rules have changed and you are not allowed to make decisions when you come up here. You have to know exactly what you want and just pay for it. Never in all the years have I been going there have I been treated so poorly and spoken down to. I said if your rules have changed, then you need to post them and let people know. Then she told me to leave that particular area where we were speaking and move yet to another area with my things to check out. I will be taking this to the owner and other people there but suffice it to say it's not worth going there anymore. If you're going to be treated this way, it's not a good experience and I found her to be very curt and short and rude. Not only that, instead of just a charity church store, they have now added tax on everything. There are so many people just grabbing things to resell that it's become very difficult to find something for yourself. There are so many other wonderful thrift shops to go to in this area. I find that most of the people that are shopping are also extremely rude and leave their carts in the middle of the aisles and let their kids scream to the top of their lungs and run wild around the store. It's not a playground but you are dealing with a different type of people. They dive in front of you while you are trying to look at something and get in your face. No excuse me or politness. Words of caution: aside from probably buying more than you planned if you're anything like me ... be careful, with these digging type thrifts...it's on you to double check the quality of the items and watch out / be willing to accept damaged goods. All part of the adventure, happy digging! My kids and I love to come here to look for toys, clothes, shoes, and housewares. Second-hand shopping is my favorite past time, and it's also something we do out of necessity because raising 4 kids is quite expensive. Mercy warehouse has a great selection of inventory, although their pricing system needs improvement. Some things are wildly over priced that it makes it unattainable to regular folks trying to save money. It's as if they are trying to combat resellers by pricing high, but if that's the case, everyone loses. Also- CHECK YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING THE STORE. I went there this weekend, and was over charged by $11 after I noticed items I was being charged for that I didn't buy. I didn't notice until a few days later, so I'm sure they won't do anything about it now. Oh well. read more
