Was craving a sweet treat while we were at the District and we decided to get some gelato from Dolce Gelato. We came twenty minutes before closing and the worker welcomed us in and let us know that we can sample flavors before choosing what we want. We ended up getting a three scoop of the banana cream, hazelnut, and ube coconut. Everything as really yummy and hit the spot! i have been a long time fan of dolce so it saddens me to write a critical review. the gelato is still good but they changed the sample limit from 3 flavors to 2. That really limits the customer in finding a flavor they would want to order in my opinion. I wish they would get rid of this sample limit. Its hard for people to decide what flavor they want based on only two choices. What happens if they don't like either flavor? I think if i walked in, tried 2 samples and didnt like any, i would just have to walk away from the store. Such a gem of a gelato shop, and located right next to the District AMC. Went here after a meal for a sweet treat, and was surprised to see how many unique flavors they have! I particularly prefer sorbettos over decadent gelato, which they had a large variety of. I got the small gelato scoop which came with up to two flavor selections. I got the prince Justin and a blue one that I can't remember the name. Both were fruity and delicious! There's one table if you want to sit inside and enjoy it, or plenty of outdoor seating with some heating. It was about $6 for a small, which was enough for me to split with another person. Gelato was amazing. Service was not good. Servicer seemed distracted. Asked for three scoops gave us two. Then seemed bothered to add the 3rd. Asked a question and had to repeat ourselves not sure if he was in the phone or listening to something he had his AirPod on. We didn't get greeted we greeted him. Good stuff here. After tackling the monster sausage from Haute Dawgz earlier tonight, I wanted something sweet and Dolce Gelato delivered. Not only was my peanut butter & chocolate and espresso gelato mix a hit taste-wise, but it turned out to be a bigger portion than I thought it would be. I can't say too much about the service as it was a short and straight-forward interaction with the server, but she seemed friendly enough. And I like coming to that part of The District because there are always so many outdoor tables and chairs near the AMC. I don't know--sometimes I'm not sure if I like gelato or frozen custard more since they are so similar. But this place is definitely another vote for gelato. read more

Been here lots of times with friends and family. Overall it is a good tasting gelato spot. The ones I liked were good. Example the Oreo, mint chip or even their vanilla. They do have variety but some of them are just not that good and taste sort of low quality. This isn't the best gelato spot in the OC area but it's a good enough place to still have a great experience with friends and loved ones. The staff is very nice and provides samples for you to try and this small gelato store is located in the district at Tustin Legacy, so there's something to do after or before. Delicious Gelato and conveniently located in the center of the square by AMC theatres. They have a selection of unique flavors which they change every month! You can try 3 samples. And then choose your size of cup - Kids, Small, Medium or Large. They have some flavors with alcohol and they did warn us that the kids couldn't try those which we appreciated. There's only a table inside for seating but here at the district you can sit anywhere outside so that's a plenty. I had chosen a small sized cup which holds 2 flavors and the portion was pretty decent. I always get the Nutella or chocolate hazelnut in every gelato store so that was one of my choices and the next was pistachio. In my opinion the gelato was just good. It didn't have the rich velvety and dense flavor as I've had at some of the best places. Every time I have had gelato in Europe it's always very thick and dense and this was less rich and dense compared to them. Either way it's summer time so this place should do well. read more

I purchased a container of basil gelato which was priced at $10.95. At home when scooping out a small amount of the gelato into a dish and tasting it I knew something wasn't right. It was gritty! I put the container in my freezer and thought I would return it when I was at the District again. When I returned the gelato, I was told that a refund couldn't be given. I replied that I didn't want a refund, but just replace the gelato. I was told that they couldn't do that either. Ugh! I then asked to speak to the manager, but the manager wasn't in. The person behind the counter thru out the gelato and I left my name and phone number for the manager to call me, which didn't happen. I won't return as they don't seem to care. So sad! read more

I think it was better than the regular version. I had this with the Ferrero Rocher because that's my favorite chocolate these days and it just hit right. While I enjoyed the Dolce Gelato location in Laguna Beach, this one was not so special. They ran out of waffle cones and gave us a regular sugar cone, and the ice cream is not much quantity wise for the price you pay. I am not sure if i will return, as this place was just ok and I can probably get better ice cream somewhere else close by. Ate gelato on a rainy day. I usually only buy gelato at one other location and it's at a tea shop in big bear. Today I found a shop that I believe could use the recommendation and it's Dolce Gelato. The flavors are quite unique. My boyfriend ordered the nutty Irishman and the only way to describe it was a "fancy" butterscotch flavor. I decided to get a small scoop with two flavors: Banana cream and Ferraro Rocher. It was delicious! The banana cream had hints of banana pieces that weren't big, but enough to notice subtly. Ferraro rocher wasn't super strong and obvious that it tasted like the chocolates - which is a great thing! It wasn't overpowering. Small and secretive in The District plaza of Tustin, there is an ice cream shop named Dolce Gelato that is famous for making uniquely handmade flavours. You'll notice right off the bat that they have a store title with many colors. Inside, there are two paintings that have a touch of ice cream and Italy on it. In honor of Star Wars month, the store presented a lot of flavours that are related to the movie. They placed cute figurines in the ice cream for display, like Yoda. The shop servers will allow you to try on the many flavours they have before you make the purchase, but there is also a tasting limit. I forgotten how many, but I had already known what flavours I wanted. The lemon and the mint chocolate chip flavours go so well together. The kid size for the ice cream portion is just right. I couldn't have asked for more. There are a lot of flavours you can try and possibly you may not finish them after so many trips. This was my first (and most definitely last) time I will ever visit this establishment. I ordered a large bow, originally with two flavors. I don't see that you could do four flavors. He already put the first flavor in the bowl when I asked if I could have four flavors. While watching how difficult it was for him to put half back, at this point, he had the gelato all over the bowl, inside and out, I suggested he start over with a new bowl. He didn't respond to me, kept making it messier and messier. He then put the second flavor in, then the third. Because he would not stay with a new cup, he put the fourth flavor on top of the three which was a He placed it in the counter, out of my reach, so I could not start eating it until it was paid for. The gentleman before me was already eating his gelato cone before he paid for it, and waiting for 4 large containers of gelato. Mesa was ringing him up, very slowly, putting two quarts to a bag and nearly folding the rim of each bag. By the time she was helped my me, the ice cream was dripping. I asked for something so I would be able to eat it without dripping it all over. Mesa gave me the same container as the gelato was in. How is that supposed to prevent the melting gelato from getting all over? She then gave me a lid (see picture) which was difficult to hold without tipping it over. I asked again for a bowl, now she again, gave me the same size bowl as i had, I asked for a pint sized bowl which she would not give me. Nesa was very unaccommodating in this transition. I was in no mood to deal with this, looking at it melting made me lose my appetite for it. I told her if she won't put it in a container so it won't stop all over I want a refund. She told me she can't give me a refund. I told her she can. She would not help me in any way at that time. I asked for the owners name and telephone number. She said his name was Duke and he is in the Beach location. There is no information for other stores, she had to look on her phone for the number. When I called the number it went to the same store, and she answered. When I asked for the number of the other store she told me she didn't have it. They are not allowed I called the Laguna Beach store. He was not in and will not be back until Thursday. read more
