There were a lot of people inside including families with children. But, the space is big enough to not feel crowded. Visiting from south Florida and came across this brewery...absolutely loved! It's has both indoor and outdoor seating, and overall very spacious location with a parking lot just few steps away. This is a relatively new brewery. The head brewer used to be at A1A Ale Works until they stopped brewing their own beer. The located is tucked away in the historic Lincolnville neighborhood, a few blocks behind the Lightner Musuem in St Augustine. We popped in for a quick flight. Dog Rose Brewery does not offer food (apparently there are food trucks on occasion but none were they when we were) but there are a number of places with a few blocks to get food. They do offer beer (of course), "microbrew" sodas (we had a great root beer from California), and bottled water. I had a flight of four 5oz beers. Flights can be of any amount of the beers they serve. I had the Lincolnville Lager, Roadside IPA, Speedball Stout, and Hefe Mit Broombere. The Lager was smooth and easy drinking; a very good "hot weather beer". The IPA had a good copper coloring and hop-forward flavor. It was not over-hopped like many IPAs have become. This is a good "Starter" IPA for new beer fan. The Speedball Stout was a full-bodied stout with a very strong espresso finish. Coffee fans will love it, non-coffee fans may not. Lastly the Hefe was a traditional German hefewiezen but with blackberries added for a nice tart finish; a nice twist on an old friend. read more

Well, man is it hard to compare especially when the next one is better than the last. This place is an exceptional hang out spot. Once again, it screams locals and there is something special about that feeling you feel when you walk in. Fresh and hoppy, sours, and cider options available. They do not have any food options other than charcuterie as far as I am aware and only on certain days. It's a sweet touch. Pull up a stool at the bar, grab a spot at the dartboards, hang out at the side yard... so many possibilities to sip your brew. One thing is for sure, you won't be bored. Always love boating this brewery when we come to St Augustine. We came twice in a 3-day trip. Great beer selection and atmosphere, darts, shuffleboard, and lots of places to sit. This place used to be an art gallery. It is flashy from the outside because of the bright colors. I finally noticed it turned into a brewery last year and we went in March for my birthday weekend. We meant to go the last two times we visited St. Augustine but just did not get to it. As you walk in, the bar is straight ahead, with many beer selections on tap. The square footage is pretty large, with many tables and seats to sit. We saw a good amount of people and kids too (?). I did not see anyone with a dog so I'm not sure if they are dog friendly. Every brewery or tap room we have been to allowed dogs so maybe? I will have to update my review next time I go! They have a large variety for a small brewery. We each had two beers each that were all different. I had a dark stout and it was heavy but very nice. The prices were not horrible but should have been cheaper. There is a back door that when you walk out, a food truck is right there. I believe they have different trucks that come and they place menus inside at the bar. We were not hungry but the food truck looked good. They also sell their own merchandise. I wanted the tank top but they did not have anymore so I purchased a baseball tee and it's cute. I believe they also have live local musicians perform. We are definitely visiting when we are in town again. It is less than a 5 minute walk from the inn we stay at so no excuses! read more

Mick is the man. Of course, this is another yelp treasure of mine. As soon as I noticed there was a brewery within walking distance & knew I had to check it out. Directly in the heart of the Old City, this beautifully and perfectly placed beer destination serves must of the hip and beer-inclined folk to a deliciously crafted brew. I like the quirky names for the beers and so the ordering process naturally became funner. The music that's playing is great which is an incredibly important detail to perfect when you're trying to please beerheads. It's a few blocks away from the main strip but definitely worth your walk/drive. The Steal Your Face Porter will have you sampling out your gaming skills in shuffleboard without a doubt. It's spacious and open yet intimate and quaint. I highly recommend checking them out. read more

Stopped in after touring the nearby distillery and winery. I'm a huge fan of sours, so I went with the Lion's Head Honey Sour Beer. It wasn't as tart as most sours, with a nice honey flavor that wasn't overpowering. It was very refreshing, and I gulped it down hella fast. The service was great despite a pretty full bar. Dog Rose was 2 blocks away from our AirBnB and it's a brewery. I like beer. Seems like it was destiny. I didn't stop in the first time I walked by. Sort of my way of teasing to build the excitement. But I did stop the second time. I have a weakness obviously. The space is huge and the bar inviting. The server was friendly and all the patrons were enjoying themselves. We tried a couple of beers and each settled on our favorites. The Palace Pale Ale and the Roadside IPA are solid choices and worthy of ordering a second. Lol Seems like everyone and anyone with a few bucks these days is opening up a "craft" brewery here, there, and everywhere. I don't get it, well I do. The money. Lots of over-priced under-poured skunky, tangy, chemically flavored masked or heavily fruited beers and ciders out there. Too many. You really never know what you're going to get. Stopped here after visiting the Lightner museum with my mother and sister while visiting St. Augustine. The building is very open and airy with a warehouse feel. We went on a weekday afternoon and found parking pretty easily. We opted for a beer flight because all of the beers sounded very good. Standouts for me were their Pumpkin Ale (not overly sweet with an aftertaste of pumpkin), the Speedball Stout because who doesn't love a good stout, and the Ramble on Red. I wasn't particularly fond of the Roadside IPA, but my mother and sister loved it. What set this place apart was the decor. Super quirky, eclectic, and kitsch. A friend and I stopped by Dog Rose on our way home from Daytona. It was a crazy rainy night, so the warmth and beer was a welcome reprieve before we braved 95 for the last bit of driving back to Jax. For those who don't know, Dog Rose Brewing took over the old A1A Ale Works space. I was instantly relaxed the moment we walked in. Dog Rose has an open layout with a ton of space from the brewery area, over to the bar, and to the area with a large shuffleboard table and games. There weren't a lot of people out on this cold, wet night, but this adorable microbrewery was still fairly busy. My friend and I each ordered a flight. I tried the Palace Pale Ale, Speedball Stout, Set Break Oatmeal Stout, and shared a sampler of the James Brown with my friend. While everything that I tried was great, I loved the Palace Pale Ale, which is brewed with Mosaic hops, as well as the Set Break Oatmeal Stout. It's the kind of stout that I would use to introduce someone to stouts. It's smooth, yet has a tiny kick, but isn't too heavy. Additionally, I would put that James Brown up against any the other brown ales in the NEFL region. You could get away with drinking samplers for your entire visit and not put too much of a hurting on your wallet, as each five-ounce pour is only $1.50. For those who need a snack with their beer, never you fear! There's a few different kinds of chips and nuts behind the counter, and they seem like they are pretty healthy and all-natural. I'm seeing a review from someone who had bad service from the "lady bartender" because "they were a woman." That seems so odd, as I had the polar opposite experience. Both Doug & Courtney, owners of Dog Rose, were an absolute joy. They chatted with my friend and I, both of us women, while also keeping up with the rest of the customers at the bar throughout our entire visit. As a woman who is a little more on the curvy side, Courtney was awesome in helping me find a shirt that would fit and didn't mind that I needed to try on one or two before settling. I adored Dog Rose, and will definitely be swinging by whenever I'm visiting the Old City. read more

We were on vacation for two days in town for a wedding, Looking for some breweries to check out! Dog Rose Brewing came up immediately and it just so happened it was on our route. We stopped in for a flight and thoroughly enjoyed every last drop. The brews were cold and tasty and we learned a lot about the variety they brew. The staff was nice the locals were helpful and provided us with some local dinner recommendations. We left with some dog rose brewing stickers as a keepsake to add to our growing collection of brewing stickers! The college is nearby, so I understand a younger crowd, but this was inundated with young flesh, barely out of the crib, straight naked. I've never seen so many young women dressed scantly clad. My wife and I were town for a few days from Orlando and we happened to pass this place as we were walking back to our car to leave. We decided to check it out since we weren't in a huge rush to start the two hour drive home and we love breweries. It was a great decision because this place was delightful! The space itself is wide open and airy. It wasn't too much of a concern since it was the middle of the day on a Monday, but during busy times during Covid I think I'd still feel safe here. It had a quiet and relaxing vibe to it, which was quite welcome. Speaking of welcome, the bartender was extremely nice and attentive, despite having what I assume was a regular talk her ear off at the other side of the bar for the entire time we were there. I assume they have a lot of entertainment here and it would be a fun venue for that. There's a little stage near the front and a ton of eclectic band posters hung up. Speaking of posters, they had some fun ones in the bathroom too. But, anyway, the beer. If I'm being honest, I was a little hungover from the night before so while I usually go darker I got the Lincolnville Lager this time. It was crisp and refreshing. The menu says it has "pilsner like assertiveness" which sounds confusing but made complete sense when I sipped it. My wife got the cider which was unfortunately the only drink they didn't make in house. Still good though. I really wish we could've stayed longer than one round. I was this close to trying their stout. But it'll motivate us to stop by next time we're in town. read more
