Crossroads Tavern is not a very big place and it has that cool dive bar feel to it. There is something to be said about a bar that shies away from pretense and focuses on being a bar. I am a fan of dive bars and Crossroads Tavern was an overall cool experience. Again, it is not a big place, but it has a cool enough ambiance. I stopped here after grabbing a fish sandwich that I headed up to Bunnell specifically to go to one particular place and this was a nice enough stop as we were leaving Bunnell and heading south. This was the complete opposite (except they did have cheap beer) and I was thrilled that this place wasn't anything like I described in my first paragraph. It is clearly a newer place that has double digit pool tables, a decent amount of seating and large HD TV's to go along with a few tables to sit down and enjoy the time. They have beer, wine and liquor along with a full menu of food. The beer is well priced and we got a bucket for $12.50. The food wasn't priced as good, but it was good for a pool hall. I wish the portions had been a little bigger although the quality was of the food was just fine. If you're looking to kill a few hours and not break the bank this where to do so.

The vibe here was decidedly empty. I wanted to try this place because it only has 16 reviews,…read morewhile its sister/parent place is so successful. It seems this place was a bar before and Fletcher's took it over without a remodel. This is leading to confusion for the servers/bartenders because they train at the original bar and then come here to work. Everything is in a different place. This huge place is probably perfect for St. Patrick's Day crowds. But despite the Daytona 500 and Bike Week being days away, I counted 6 people there. Another server joined around 6pm just as a family came in to dine. I hesitated to give this place only 3 stars because the food and beer were surprisingly good. We cautiously ordered the tater tots to check out the quality of cooking and the cleanliness of the fryer. Even though they probably don't make the tater tots (they were exactly like Ore-Ida) these were as perfect as it gets. They were cooked exactly right and I love my tots. They were crispy on the outside, not dry inside and you could tell the oil was clean and the fryer was at the right temperature. I wanted to try the Fletcher's Hefeweizen but it was out. There were 3 beers out of ~10 that were out. I got Blue Moon instead. Hubby got the Hazy IPA. Both beers were very good and fresh, chilled satisfyingly cold.I was given an orange in my Blue Moon without asking, always a good sign. With our confidence bolstered, we split the fish and chips. I expected the fish filet to be thicker, but realized this was haddock and not cod. The fish was fresh and the coating was cornmeal-based, not fluffy but nicely crunchy and tasty. The chips were just as they should be. Good dish, well-executed. Come to Fletcher's Pub and Brewery! More people would give it more of a party vibe, enhancing the already great food and beer experience.

This place has a nice vibe and the owners are really dedicated from what I could see. They are opening a patio with a larger menu and getting a liquor license, hopefully by summer. Tucked away on the first floor of the Fountain Square plaza, we enjoyed the friendly clientele and the reasonably priced wine and beer. House wines for only $6 per glass, but we noticed a few couples purchasing bottles to save a few bucks. They are off to a good start! Just the Sampler was all fried (which we knew) and was served with no plastic cutlery and only one napkin for 2 people, no salt and pepper until requested. The cold cheese dip was good but could have been warmed and more plentiful. Maybe a salsa side would have worked too. Ranch, anyone? Everything was nicely cooked and served hot. The beef empanada was seasoned really nicely and the filling seemed to have peppers and onions. The chicken one seemed to be all breast meat as the filling. Better than all fillers, but some more seasoning would have been good. The yucca fries were nicely done and there were 3 types. One was a cheese bite that could have been crispier but had a nice flavor. We will come back, probably when the patio opens and the menu expands. After all, what is a speakeasy without a highball?

From the point I walked in to the point I left not a single bartender, waitress, or otherwise approached me or said a word to me for anything. I can't speak for the food as I didn't get the chance to order any but the food I saw that came out of the kitchen was pretty bad. I'm really surprised it has 4 stars but if I had to guess they were probably from regulars as it seemed that's the only crowd that got attention while I was there. I won't come back again, even for a good band.
