Potential. I like the ambience, and I love a good bar. I have only eaten once at said establishment and it was at the bar. There was one bartender, a packed dining room with waiting and the bar area. My party of four never got the second round of drinks that we ordered, it took a very long time to order our food, all of our food came at one time, except one person in our party, receive nothing.. Everything was fixed with politeness. They need more bar help. What they had that one young man doing was not physically possible. Went to lunch here because me and my partner love it so much and it usually is very good and good service but today, oh my god. I asked for a chocolate martini like i did BEFORE and so i ordered it. First it came with no whipped cream which was fine so i asked "hey it usually comes with whipped cream no?" Sooo, been to this places few times now. First couple of times were ok. Portions are bit small for the price, but oh well. This time was unusually terrible. We were seated (2 people) in front of the main doorway to the patio, next to the bar. A bit awkward, but we didn't complain. The food, don't know WTF happened in the last few months. The burger was extremely poor quality, sooo greasy that the bun was nearly disintegrated. It tasted like nothing but grease and salt. Choked it down because we were hungry. (Regret). I ordered the wood fired shrimp and scallops with grilled lemon. What I got was sautéed , no sign of any lemon. The dish had never seen any wood fires, but it was served in a half inch pool of oil. The charming Roadhouse exterior leads to a cozy bar and indoor dining, which expands to a bigger bar and tiered dining space with full window views of the endless tree tops. We visited for tapas at the bar on Friday night, enjoying specialty cocktails suggested by friendly bartenders, and were fortunate to meet the owner, who clearly loves the hospitality business and sets the warm, friendly tone for the venue. Excellent live music filled the air but did not overwhelm the space. Returning for brunch on Sunday revealed lots of options including an extensive omelet bar. The pace was joyful and unhurried, accentuated again by live music which sometimes includes world renowned talent like David Cullen of Windham Hill Records fame. I'm surprised by the 3* reviewers who have no solid criticisms, seems very suspect. All in all, Doc and Bubba's is a memorable dining experience, well worth going the extra miles. read more

Okay I've been to Doc and Bubba's a few times since it opened. The patio and view are amazing, but I've got to say it does not make up for the lack of service and terrible food. After our first visit we thought "They just opened, it will get better". We came back with family that were in from Florida, they ordered lobster and it smelled like ammonia - we were embarrassed when they returned it the kitchen. Now, this evening we stopped in for a quick bite. Wanted to sit on the patio. We asked how long the wait was, we were told " we don't provide wait times". We waited an hour. The manager assured us the kitchen would remain open until everyone waiting was seated. As soon as we sat down the waitress says " the kitchen is closing". The live music played past 9, but we felt rushed. We ordered the Bang-bang shrimp - boy has that gone down hill. App came out and we had no silverware. We tried to flag down our server to no avail. We caught a busser and asked for silverware, only to be told "I will try to find you some". Apparently they were too busy to wrap it! I would taken it unwrapped! By the time it came out the shrimp was cold and my wife's fingers were a mess from eating with her hands. We ordered a salad and pizza to split. Southwest salad is 95% lettuce with some corn, beans, and tortillas strips topped with an uninspiring piece of chicken (likely precooked). The short rib pizza was LOADED with jalapeños - could not taste anything else. After scrapping off the jalapeños, I realized the pizza dough was less than great. We so badly wanted to like the place. My recommendation is to skip the food and just enjoy a drink, with a great view, and live entertainment. read more

I'm not a big hard liquor or mixed drink kinda guy but let me tell ya their seabreeze and peach margarita are so easy to drink. We both ordered burgers,but let me say their small menu has some awesome meals and appetizers. Our burgers were ordered medium rare and they were. The sweet potato fries were so sweet. I usually don't like them. These were great. I ordered the house special bubba burger. Came with bacon and an egg. Onions,tomatoes and lettuce. Insane! Both burgers were awesome. We saw some other foods come through and let me tell you they looked wonderful. I can't wait to come back and try more. They have plenty of service and they are very friendly and on the ball I would say pricewise we're looking at about a three dollar sign, but you get what you pay for here I highly recommend this restaurant. No reservations needed. It's a first come first serve place so definitely make your way to this restaurant you will not regret it. You will need to try a little bit of everything so bring somebody with you lol we are definitely coming back with more money so we could try a lot more. Enjoy. I am from out of state and recently went here to visit with family and friends. My out of state ID was apparently flagged by their scanner system and they refused to serve me alcohol. The ambiance was nice and the shuttle system was great. I can't comment on the food because my group immediately decided to leave and go somewhere else after they refused to serve me. If you are in your 20s from out of state, I would recommend bringing a second form of ID since their scanner system is not accurate. read more

It's a gorgeous place with stunning fixtures & equipment and pizza ovens - it's clear the owner cares about the place. However, I was disappointed with the food, which was below average and overpriced. For $15 a simple veggie sandwich should be mind-blowing but it was just average and not very memorable. The sandwich was lacking any exciting flavors or ingredients besides the roasted veggies. In comparison, for the same price point, there are much better options just a few minutes out in West Reading. The drinks were well-made and creative, however, that doesn't make up for the food. While I would love to come back here or host an event here because of the venue, I would strongly hesitate to come back for the food. New to the area, we were eager to try Doc & Bubba's. The sophisticated interior sets an expectation that the cuisine just doesn't deliver. The hard working bartender was stretched thin, delivering meals to tables and serving a packed bar. In short order, she delivered a top notch dirty martini. Unfortunately, the blue cheese stuffed olives cheapened her flawless execution of a frosty (shaken not stirred) martini, with just the right amount of dirty. The cheese was dry and flavorless and there were two olives versus the typical three, which seemed a bit chintzy. We ordered Wings with Korean Barbecue Sauce. The sweet sauce lacked any hint of Asian spice. There was absolutely nothing to distinguish it as Korean. The Vegetarian Pizza was described as having grilled eggplant on it. The eggplant was undercooked (spongy) and as a former Chef, I would wager that it had never seen a grill. The other vegetables were fresh and appealing. The crust was quite reminiscent of Stouffer's frozen. We would return to this aesthetically appealing place, but with lower expectations. Maybe hot wings next time, and a burger? read more

This place doesn't even deserve the "1" star given. Attempted to go for a nice Sunday brunch. Arrived at 11:45 waited 25+ minutes for someone to come greet us and give us waters/ take drink order. Mind you they placed us at a table far from everyone by the back exit. NO we didn't look fancy dressed up, but we just came from church so we were wearing nicer clothes. The owner walked past us numerous times seeing we had no even been brought waters yet. I smiled at him every time he walked past to be nice and he'd look right past me. A group of 4 or more were about to be seated next to us when the owner personally told the hostess "these customers should not be sat here" and proceeded to move them where everyone else was. He also was personally filling waters and coffees to other tables while my husband and I had to continue to wait for our water. When our drink orders were FINALLY taken it took 20 minutes to get a draft beer and sangria. The beer was poured into a gross handle mason jar half way just head. Meanwhile it was the most expensive beer on draft and everyone else had nice beer glasses. I asked if fries were available, I was laughed at and said if they have to be again meanwhile I saw quite a few tables happily being served fries. Then was told over half the menu items were "sold out" meanwhile at this point its 12:15. I've never felt so judged or disrespected at a restaurant before. The rumors of how the owner treats staff and customers is clearly right. A complete A-hole. His head is too high on a horse for a Mohnton restaurant. Once we finally got our drink order we paid and left to go to a real restaurant where our money belongs. Never again setting foot in this place and regret telling friends of the pace. read more

Our group of six came here on August 24 for my 70 th Birthday celebration. Bubba saw my birthday sash and immediately came over to wish me a super birthday and to get ready for a special night. Everyone went perfect.
