Doc & Bubba's thinks of itself as fancier than it actually is, in my opinion. We came in at opening, as our reservation was at 10am, only to find that the largest, most central TV in the entire restaurant had "Newsmax" blaring. Weird choice but ok. I asked them to turn off the propaganda and they kindly obliged. The brunch menu left a LOT to be desired. No pancakes. No waffles (except if you order the chicken and waffle dish). Not even on the kids menu. One weird omelette choice. No other egg dishes. It was a glorified lunch menu and it was too early for me to eat a cheeseburger. I wanted breakfast. So I ended up ordering a salad. After we ordered it took just over ONE HOUR for our food to come out. That would be acceptable if this was one of those artisan from scratch places or whatever, but they're not. The place has a great decor. An oasis in the middle of nowhere. What a fun looking place for nightlife. We went for lunch and it was a bit understaffed although our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and well prepared. A very comfortable place to enjoy lunch. We stopped in for a drink and a look at the menu. We sat at the bar (enclosed outside) there are lovely water fountains and blaring music from the 50s competing for air with the fountains. Turn the music down. We did not eat there so cannot comment on the food but I ordered a house glass of Chardonnay (not really a nice pour) and my husband ordered a beer. The bill for my Chardonnay was 18.00. Yes. Shocking for a house pour. Would never go back. We live in Lancaster. Husband and I went for lunch on a Friday. Server was good. Food was good. However, the price was outrageous. We've been here before, but not during lunch time. I know this place is definitely pricier, but I was astonished at the cost of a wedge salad. 20$ with no protein other than a bit of bacon. Protein could be added- which I did. Chicken was 10$ extra. The piece of chicken was TINY. Maybe 3 oz. 30$ for iceberg lettuce, cherry tomato, blue cheese, bacon crumbles, 2 onion rings, and a tiny bit of chicken. We had a nice meal this past week and a fine server. The disappointment was the surcharge on my bill for using my credit card. I did not realize it until I reviewed the charges after I got home. Wife and I were trying to think of somewhere to go 7/12. We looked at our list of places we haven't been to yet, but hoping to check out. I didn't feel like traveling to western Lancaster County, so we chose Doc & Bubbas. We walked in the entrance and waited 5 minutes for a hostess to seat us. I made eye contact with 3 different employees who were just chillin and they all just looked away. Please understand, there was only 1 table seated inside (couldn't see outside). We were about to seat ourselves at the indoor bar when she finally came up. We decided to eat indoors since it was super muggy and I fear the sun. She then sits us right next to the lone table...seriously?!? A little later, I overheard the hostess complaining about how slow it was while there was people standing there waiting to be seated...just the worst! Our server was very kind and attentive without being annoying. She was the only A+ for this experience. We got our menus and was asked if we wanted a drink. I said I would take a beer, but while we were waiting, I noticed a bottle of Maker's Mark Cellar from 2023 so I asked how much a pour was. She came back and told me $75 an ounce. This is TRIPLE what it sells for at the bars I've seen in the past. Explains why they still had a nearly full bottle of the 2023 release. Obviously stuck with my crappy beer ($5 for Miller Lite ). We started checking out the menu and we both made comments about the higher than Philly prices. This place looks beautiful inside and I get they're going for an upscale feel, but dang. After some discussion we decided to go with an order of wings and a woodfire pizza. The wings were good and were served plain with your choice of 3 different sauces. This was nice and we enjoyed the fact we had some variety. Now...the pizza...how do I say this...maybe the worst pizza I've had a place serving "artisan" pizza. The pizza was over $20 and it was really small. This is to be expected when getting a hipster pie; however, It looked like it came from Little Caesars. I'm not kidding...just like LITTLE CAESARS! We each took a slice and after trying a few bites, we just looked at each other and laughed. Im guessing the owners laugh when they see people get it at a 3X inflate for the pies they bought at Little Caesars and had delivered for the morons dumb enough to order a pizza from this establishment. $21 wings, $22 Little Caesars pizza, $20 hamburger, $14 drinks...needless to say, after I paid the bill I told my wife I hope she enjoyed our first and last visit to Doc & Bubbas. I don't mind paying more for a good meal, but this was by far the most disappointing meal of the year for us. These kinds of places are why we are hesitant to try new places. Oh well, live and learn. This is the second time my wife and I went to D&B's. Both times we waited too long before a server came to our table. It also takes long to get a drink once drink order is placed. Now they have their own brand of spirits. So I could not even get Bacardi rum. Their D&B brand of rum was not good. The other drink choices were not very appealing. So, it's either beer or their spirits. At least the food was good. Atmosphere is nice. Live music is loud. read more

What a disappointment! Our server was good and the food was decent however there's clearly a huge management problem! There was no drink menu available or seasonal cocktails. They didn't have the ingredients for the drink I ordered that I've gotten from there before. Not to mention it took forever to actually get our drinks. Gave the kids a coloring page menu but had no crayons to color it. My son ordered the fish and chips but they were out. I ordered the short rib pierogies but they were out. As Tom Petty once said, waiting is the hardest part. It is believed this utterance was inspired by one of his visits to Doc & Bubba's. So this place is kinda out there - a ways south of Reading. The Jewel of Mohnton, they call it. No reservations. That's a big one, primarily because the wait - even on weeknights - can be heinous. To make matters worse, the lobby can fill to capacity quick. I think we went on a Tuesday, and the only place to stand was basically in the doorway separating the bar and the hosting area. There was tons of traffic, and it made things very tight. Believe you me when I say many an "Excuse me," "Pardon me," and "Coming through" were exchanged. What's disappointing is once you do finally get to sit down, service doesn't ever pick up, either. You'd think one benefit of having a wait would be to control the flow of diners, ensuring the kitchen doesn't get overloaded. That, unfortunately, wasn't the case. Honestly, there were spurts when it seemed the servers were attentive and checking up on things. They'd come back, rapid fire, all in the span of a few minutes. But then we wouldn't see them again for 15-20 minutes. That's no exaggeration, there were multiple 20+ minute periods where a server didn't even walk in our proximity. The whole dinner (not including the time spent waiting up front) took over three hours. There were three of us. There was no dessert round. Over three hours for a couple of burgers (medium),a salad, and everyone's favorite Asian fusion starter BANG BANG shrimp. That's crazy. As for the food, I guess it would be the highlight? Anything would be a highlight aside from the above, uh, hiccup. It was solid, right on par with - what I guess I'd describe as "brewery" food - apps that are a step up from mozzarella sticks and onion rings if you catch my drift. The burgers were served in these greyish cafeteria tray-like things. I did like the fry basket, very nice touch, as were the shining silver metal ramekins (simply a cut above plastic). It made me feel like a distinguished gentleman. Gotta give further props to the cutlery, glassware, and salt/pepper shakers. Does anyone else mention the shakers? That's why I'm the best in the biz, people. Pink Himalayan sea salt is what they're working with. And a whole peppercorn blend. Yes, a blend. I can't remember if this is the place with metal straws. You know, the ones where someone can come up and pat you on the back and consequently impale your throat. Yeah, I can't recall. They were either metal or cardboard. What happened to the humble plastic straw? Everything has to be the extreme, in one direction or the other. Doc & Bubba's is worth a visit. One. One visit so you can say you've been there if someone casually brings it up in conversation. "Rob and I tried that Doc and Bubba's the oth-" "I'VE EATEN THERE!" "Uh, that's great, Mike." If you do end up going, it's probably best to allocate at least a three hour chunk of your evening. You may have to tell your pals you'll be late for the bonfire at the cabin owned by that one friend who insisted on living off the grid so he could grow his special crops. read more

My husband and I was looking forward to a recommended experience at Doc & Bubbas today for lunch. However, we never got to sit down. We waited for someone to greet us at the front desk. Waited for a little bit. I then found a young lady preparing for a baby show, she saw me from a distance, so I waved and walked back to the reception area, thought she'd come to seat us. Nobody came up. I then walked back to her and asked if we seat ourselves, She said "well, not here. It's for a function." Clearly I would see she was setting up for an event. I then saw another young lady at the bar she said someone will be with you shortly. She looked back at the other young lady preparing for the event like she was the hostess, that should be seating us. We waited, no one came up. So we left. Because of the service we DIDN'T receive I don't even want to return to try their food. If that's who is representing your restaurant then I'm glad we left. read more

In the area and decided to try. Ordered the bang bang shrimp and the loaded tots for an appetizer. The bang bang shrimp were excellent and the tots were just okay, they needed a little something extra. Dinner we had the lobster roll on a toasted bun with butter and plenty of lobster meat. My son ordered the Bubba burger. It was cooked medium but the outside edges were very well done. My husband had blackened rib eye and it was cooked to perfection and he loved it! Dessert was the brown butter cake and a slice of cheesecake. The brown butter cake was amazing with fresh strawberries and blueberries topped with whipped cream. The food was very good, I enjoyed my skillet with its delicious butter sauce but I the scallops did become overcooked due to cast irons residual heat. Very beautiful place! We only ever eat outside, even in the dead of winter. They have beautiful ponds & waterfalls, umbrellas, fire pit. It's so amazing outside. The food is very delicious and different types of meal options compared to other restaurants. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Parking is limited and tight. It also isn't an in and out type of restaurant, it is a little slow. My last callout is although the food is delicious, it is never hot - always room temperature-ish. read more

The mushroom appetizers is much too expensive and the mushrooms are very small and the crab meat has too much filling for the price. The sweet potato fries are delicious! The pizza is mediocre. Surprised by the lobster rolls, though, having been in Boston, and having had the best .. the lobster is cold and a bit watery, the flavors was not that great with the bun. Went to the location on 6/10 for a work dinner with 12 people, was seated and took 1hr and 10 minutes for us to get our food, was told after waiting that they were short staffed, service was very slow. If you can't service a group don't seat us. Food came out, parts of the order were missing, they were out of certain condiments. Get the bill, 20% gratuity added to the bill when the website says that "20% may be added". Would have been nice if the server would have told me. Also got hit with a 3% credit card surcharge, not posted any where. This is a location that opened in 2022, service has gone down hill, for the price you would expect better service.
